Bustling, counter-serve, family-owned nook with pupusas, burritos & other Mexican & Salvadoran grub.
Honestly, ordered the taco asada and spinach pupusa combo and it was the best Ive had. Taco was savory and pupusa had lots of cheese and spinach. Service was exceptional. Food was yummy.
These are best restaurants paposas Ive ever had. They are second only to my best friends grandma who is from El Salvador and makes them home made. Highly reccomend the pork and cheese.
Asked my family to join us at El Balcon for my birthday dinner tonight. My husband ordered for my daughter and I right after my extended family ordered. They all got their food and ate their meals before We finally checked on the status of our order as we had not received our food. It turned out they had lost our ticket. By the time our food arrived half my family had already gone to catch the ferry and the cabbage salsa was all gone. Nothing was comped. For the prices I would expect better service or someone checking in to make sure we had all received our food. It kind of ruined the dinner aspect of my birthday which was the only part family from Seattle could join.***Three stars because the food was good, as always!***
I try tacos all over the place, these are the best Ive had...Ammmazing! El Balcon is clean, staff is so friendly & the food is delicious, what an awesome lunch! I cant wait to go back and try other items....
Very generous portions and plenty of seating indoors and out. While the taste was satisfying, it did not dazzle the taste buds enough to garner 5 stars. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I liked it. Very friendly staff, decent food, comfy environment. Its not super high end, more towards casual. For what it is, it gets 5 stars from me because theyve nailed the category they are in.
Food is tasty, delicious however when i order I order 2 things but other one was missing after I realized that i gave call but restaurant one was closed.
Great experience. The food and staff were awesome! We took advantage of the outside seating, which was really nice. Cant wait to go back.
This food is amazing. If you want some great Mexican food then you need to go here..
Absolutely fantastic! 1st visit here and 1st time with El Salvadorian food. It was super delicious and the staff was so helpful and polite! She patiently took the time to the time to describe the different dishes I asked about. I ended up going with the number 10 combo and I dont even remember the name of the food but it was lights out amazing. The pork was tender and delicious. Everything was fantastic. Definitely worth a ferry ride from Seattle just to go back there and have dinner or lunch!
Self service. Fast.
Food was good, staff could be more inviting when you walk in, we intended on eating in but the hostess couldn’t grasp the concept to just seat us…Salsa behind the counter is confusing and to be honest, obnoxious.
I stopped in for lunch after coming off the ferry. It was an easy walk from the dock. The California burrito I ordered was tasty and they made it up veggie for me. The service was prompt and the staff were friendly. Id recommend if you want to grab something quick off the ferry.
The burritos are huge! Yet, somehow I ate the whole thing. Their avocado lime hot sauce is amazing.
Great service at the counter! My shrimp tacos were great. Ordered something new and didnt like it...spinach and cheese p...? Our table abd seat was dirty when we set down was reason for a 4.
Ordered tacos and a burrito. Waited half an hour before checking with them and found they had lost the tag, and needed to put it into the kitchen again. There were several people who came in after me that were served before me. Finally got my food and the asada on the taco was so salty I couldnt even eat a whole taco. Horchata was great, salsa was good. The rest is a huge thumbs down.
Huge tasty burritos and great fast service. Definitely worth the price. Our go to for Mexican in the Kitsap area.
Incredible tacos and pupusas! The porch is awesome when the weather is nice, and the service is amazing. Always worth the drive from Union.
I was wanting pupusas for a long time now and I got them from this place. I loved the spinach and cheese and bean and cheese. The pork and cheese was pretty good. I was looking forward to the pork with beans and cheese but they ran out. The chipotle steak was filling and I could only eat half of it. I’m glad that they didn’t run out of the horchata too. Will probably call them next time to make sure they have the other food on the menu before I go there.
My husband and I drive over an hour to eat here it’s so damn good! The Balcon burrito is everything I want. Meaty, smoky, tons of flavor and absolutely ginormous meaning I get to enjoy it again the next day! Horchata was also delicious and not too sweet. Staff is friendly and helpful. 💛
Excellent food, which is only exceeded by the great staff. They brought out water for our dogs and a high chair for my son. I look forward to making this my go to spot for Latin American food.
El Balcon has always had amazing food. Now, it has amazing food in an amazing building.
Lots to choose from. Clean place, outdoor seating, professional staff. First time here today, but theres so much on the menu I need to come back!!
A story about a man and a burrito from El Balcon. It was June 2021.Helium Development, my employer, had a biweekly tradition of catering lunch for the employees. This ritual is lovingly known as "Helium Lunch."However, this June of yesteryear, I had accepted a new job.And it was to be my last Helium Lunch.“Tomorrow is Helium Lunch, Michael. What do you want?” said Nick, Heliums founder. “You should decide since it’s your last Helium Lunch”"EL BALCON," I fired back. The only legitimate response. My heart warmed as I thought about the sensational flavors. The meat, the cheese, the sauces.“Ahh, I’ll have a Cuban.” I thought to myself. “That will be nice.”Sleepless, I awaited the day of my reckoning with the Salvadorian goodness. The day arrived. An El Balcon burrito ’twas to be mine. But alas… my wife fell ill [slightly sick].I worked from home, no burrito para mi.Here we are in 2022. The new job didnt work out.Fate, it seems, had other plans.Helium hired me back, and tomorrow? Well, tomorrow is Helium Lunch.I don’t remember the last time I ate a burrito from El Balcon… 15 months? 18 months? But Im going to get one tomorrow. And yeah, Im going to get the Cuban.
Food is great. Expensive but convenient. You can find better places for the price but its a good stop before or after the ferry.Pupusas are amazing.
Pupusas were decent, but I thoroughly enjoyed my tacos especially the carnitas. Definitely worth going back to.
Unlike what looks like in other photos, this is a rather large and nice restaurant for a good sit down lunch/dinner right in the heart of downtown and walking distance to one of the best ferry terminal in the state. Food was great quality and everything was better than usual joints of same class. Lots of vegetarian options.
Pupusa are DELICIOUS. Took more time than anticipated to be served but I guess that’s because they’re making them by hand. A heads up would’ve been awesome though. But yummy food.
Great Salvadorian food! The pupusas and pastelitos are delicious! My favorite had to be the fried yucca and pork. I haven’t had some that tasty in such a long time.
Great food, comfortable seating and friendly staff make for a winning combination. If youre looking for a south of the border experience for your taste buds then I highly recommend this place.
I find it very expensive for tacos and pupusas. The pupusas barely had meat in it so a bit disappointing. The restaurant was overall nice and staff was friendly.
Super tasty food, big portions, and fun atmosphere. Staff is friendly and informative. I’m a vegetarian and I love the veggie burritos and tortas. I’m glad to see them thrive in their new location!
We had lunch here yesterday and everything was delicious! My husband had shrimp tacos and I had a #5 which is a taco, a pupusa. And a pastelitos. All were very tasty but the pupusa was my favorite! We are glad they are in this bigger location now, with more seating and parking. Can’t wait to go back again for more.
Just stopped by for a Thursday evening dinner and was told it would take over 30 minutes to get a plate of tacos. Im not sure how good the food is but that is far too long to wait in a sparsely filled restaurant. It might be worth stopping here if they get the orders out in a reasonable amount of time.
Mix burrito was delicious! Big enough to share. Pupusas are tasty! Prices are high but that seems to be going around these days. Friendly staff
Wouldve gave 5 stars because the food is delicious and the spicy garlic salsa is BOMB.COM yet the staff is not very attentive and seems to not really care about providing a great experience.
Im glad El Balcon moved it to this location. Great place for Mexican food. You will not leave hungry. I liked the new decor. We had one of their signature burritos. It was delicious.
Big burritos, lots of filling. Full of flavor and plenty of options to find your favorite.
Super nice hosts and amazing food!! We drive all the way from Tacoma just to get their food when were craving it. Sooo yummy!! 😋 love the new location too! So much room. 💕
the staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! I got the combo with 2 spicy shrimp tacos and 2 cheese and bean pupusas 😋 Everything tasted great! 👍
Food was amazing! Medium price point. 3 item combo is about $10-$15. Food was hot fresh and very delicious!
A must try when in downtown, the burritos and pupusa are so good and fresh. I love the variety of sauces you can choose from and it is fast, friendly, and so worth it!
The only thing disappointing about this place is I can never finish my burrito! Theyre HUGE but oh so very, VERY good!! Everytime we go its a good experience!
¡Riquísimo! Scrumptious Salvadoran and Mexican food! A great vibe with delicious and authentic tacos and pupusas. Good selection of beverages. Cinco estrellas.
Ordered the Spicy Shrimp Burrito and it was delicious!! Will definitely head back to try the other menu items!
This was our first time at El Balcon and it was delicious! The burritos are gigantic, enough for two meals and customer service was great! Go ahead a give them a try, youll be glad you did.
For anyone who doesnt know, El Balcons is a Salvadorian and Mexican food place; walking downtown, if you blink, you may have missed it.This little hole in the wall restaurant offers two tables and a small little counter to eat at; if you experience El Balcons food, youll be experiencing it on the go.El Balcon offers up a wide variety of food items; I feel there may be a few too many choices as I was getting a little overwhelmed reading each one and forgetting what previous things had in them.None the less everything that I could remember sounded intriguing and yummy, after reading the reviews my husband and I were excited to try this little place.I ordered combo number 2, and my husband had a Carne Asada Burrito. My combo #2 came with two tacos and one pupusa. On my part, after looking at the menu many times, I just blindly said, "Ill order this one," so my little tacos were good, filled with decent chorizo, but nothing spectacular; however, the pupusa, was terrific. I had no idea what it was so I was excited to try something new, what can I say; it was indeed yummy and something I will order again! My husbands said his Carne Asada Burrito, was good but not excellent, simply because they added more ingredients than the burrito needed, which most places around this area will do. He usually will ask a restaurant how they prepare it before he orders it; this time, he wanted to try it the way they would make it.El Balcons restaurants location is on pacific ave downtown Bremerton, within walking distance from the ferry boat and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.Finding parking can be a pain, especially downtown, cross your fingers for street parking, and during prime hours, you may find yourself parking way off and walking a bit.My takeaway from it is, if I am downtown wanting Mexican food on the go, I would undoubtedly go back; they offer many yummy-sounding options; as I stated before, a few too many.
You have got to try this place... our full party loved the food. Honestly not sure how I had not heard of them before. I totally ate my burrito before I had time to get a photo. 🤣 however I managed to get a menu pic. I had the veggie burrito and it was amazing, the green salsa was perfect and I could eat a bowl of the pickled cabbage salsa!
SO GOOD. This place is just a hole in the wall, but there food is great. Theres not really any good place to sit. So, dont go there for the atmosphere. They are relatively fast with the food. Its certainly authentic. Loved the meal very much. I will be back.
I have to say this is a really god place for a quick bite. I like the fact that I get to put the goodies on my own food with as much as I’d like. I haven’t had anything rom here I didn’t care for.
