El Ajicito - Peruvian restaurant in Hempstead, United States
I loved my visit to the restaurant, the very friendly customers and the delicious food. ¡Muy recomendado!
Very big portions, and good food....
The food is always so delicious. My favorite Peruvian restaurant
Welcoming atmosphere & delicious food. We had chicken fried rice Chaufa, garlic shrimp with rice, pork chops, & chicken aguadito. We really enjoyed our meals. Quiet music in the background. Nice spacing between tables.
I used to come here and always loved the food idk what they did wrong but it all changed flies around when you eat asked for medium rare repeated multiple times he even repeated it and still got well done meat had no taste chicken was great eitheir will not be coming back here sorry not sorry
Excellent food, fast service, no issues. Parking is a bit of a challenge in the area, but thats to be expected for Hempstead. Would visit again.
I always go to restaurant because the food is good compare to all peruvian restaurants in the Long Island but unfortunately this restaurant has the rudes services unprofessional waitresses and phone answering people including and especially the manager, all girls, they dont even know how to use a calculator or even know the tax amount to charge in NY, in the top they get sassy rude and hung up ...well too bad for the restaurant lost sale and a customer because of the service of these girls plus double taxing x plate, setvices fee then tip on the top !!....bad setvices tip is optional acording to the services ....charges for using the cresdit card % ????
Experience was good. Food was well prepared. Customer service was great.
I ask for a chaufa de entraña and charge me 30 dollar for plate...so ridiculous price. Good food but price to high for caufa de entraña. The staff not to good.
Delicious Hispanic food!! Friendly service.
Best Peruvian cuisine on Long Island... great prices, large portions and excellent bar cocktails.. Food is on point and delicious, nice atmosphere INSIDE. Lol. My wife is Peruvian and she approves of this message.
Great tasty food and wonderful service!
Food was ok very crowded. We were pushed to get up and leave. One of the waitress I could hear her talking loud or pretending she didnt know we couldnt hear her saying. There are people waiting for our table. She was rude doing that.
Dont go here if youre not peruvian The waiter with the grey long hair was very unprofessional, with no manners and and horrible customer service.
Great service, food was delicious! Specially the grilled octopus and ceviche, very tasty 😋😋
I ordered a “Chicha morada” drink and it taste really good in comparison with other 5 Peruvian restaurants I frequently visit. The pork tamal appetizer was delicious. I also ordered a “Ceviche mixto” which I found ok and nothing espectacular. Attention was fast and pleasant.
Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and we were both super happy with the customer service. The server gave us some recommendations from the menu which were pretty good. He was very attentive also.
What can I say ,found my long island spot! Food was great , chicken a la brass amazing, beef chaufa so delicious, Jalea nice and fresh. Will definitely recommend probably one of the best Peruvian food I had so far.
I love Peruvian food and the ambience in this place is right on point. Truly enjoyed my time here. Would recommend ☺️
This restaurant was my family and I favorite restaurant in our area. But increasing prices and smaller food portions and also constantly swatting flies around you that would occasionally fall in your drinks and food has made the restaurant difficult to enjoy, unfortunately this has pushed us away and we won’t be coming back.
El Ajicito is a family style restaurant that serves delicious family style peruvian food… The prices are reasonable, servings are just perfect and the service is phenomenal. Fortunately, the nat (not fliessituation has been resolved!! Come back to see for yourself and enjoy an amazing delicious peruvian cuisine which has been rated as top 3 in the world 🌎🇵🇪🥘
Nice, quaint establishment with a small parking lot in the back. It was okay. Food was on the pricier end for the quality. Plantains were good. Portions were decent. However, lots of fruit flies in the establishment made it distracting.
Nice restaurant and bar. The staff was friendly.
There’s not to many Peruvian restaurants in Long Island. This restaurant had so many fruit flies that made it impossible to eat. The one male waiter has been working at this location for along time is way to confident not to use a pad to write order down that every thing was wrong .if the owner has a chance to read this please make changes or keep loosing costumers.basically your choice
I loved the seafood soup but did not like the ceviche. the placed looked clean but we had 20 flies flying around abd we could not enjoy our meal.
The staff at the Ajicito are friendly and have great hospitality service. The food is GREAT! I love eating there and the atmosphere is super nice!Mr. Albert Hall, Brooklyn, NY
Have enjoyed myself when Ive gone. The food is tasty. We went on karaoke night so it was a little loud. I dont speak Spanish, so I didnt know any of the songs lol
One of the best Peruvian Restaurants I visited so far. The service is amazing 👏🏻 and the food uuummmmm yummiest!
Food is great and staff is also, when you are dining in. However for take-out, the staff isnt always pleasant. They have a bit of an indifference and can become quite mouthy on the phone. Asking to speak to management makes matters worse. Customer service skills in person and on phone is very necessary when dealing with clientele. This experience has left me re-thinking continuing my patronage with this business
The food is delicious and the service is outstanding! The picarones are my favorite. Great place to go to for lunch or dinner.
This review is regarding customer service only as we did not get a chance to eat any food. It’s a shame that we came all the way from queens ( on a Sunday 45 minutes traffic time to go there and another 45 to go back to walk with out with out ordering, we waited 15 minutes before we walked out. Even tough the place was full on staff and 1/2 occupied we never got noticed by a waiter ( mind you we are 5after 15 minutes we decided to walk out. I did inform the floor manager about what had happened ( but who knows what she will do,as I approached her she was busy taking selfie’s of herself.
This is my go to Peruvian restaurant on the island. The food is great. The staff is attentive. I often order out because it does get packed when it gets busy. The downside for the place however is its location; parking is somewhat difficult
Amazing food, amazing staff. The design for the ruleta marina was incredible. My mother and father enjoyed the food, great food will definitely come back.
Ive been going to this restaurant a few times and always I had enjoyed the food and the service; however, today I ordered a Lomo Salteado ($15 and the waitress asked me if I want to upgrade to entrañas (better type of beef which I agreed. The food was delicious, but at the end when the bill came, I realized that I was charged $29 for my plate. When I asked about the price, the waitress apologized because she forgot to mention the price difference. I dont care if the plate is a few dollars more, but double!!!!! For me and my friends honestly is very important. Just be aware.
First and last time.. sadly. We were 4 and gave us only one small start side if you want more they charge. Chicken was so small...flavor was ok. Honestly we will not going back to this place.
Nice family interior atmosphere. Food was good. Waitress very nice and attentive to host. Price is ok. Check include the minimum consumed percentage which is good for the quality service. I recommend this place. Im looking forward to come back soon.
First time here. Delicious food, prompt and courteous service. Our waiter was fantastic and made excellent recommendations. I cant wait to go back!
So like every New year’s eve i like to order Peruvian food. The deluxe seafood. Usually i would go to mi candela 2 but i wanted to try a new place since “el ajicito” was recommended to me as one of my family members turns out to get along with the manager super well. So i paid around $120 just to get 4 small empty half a** fried seafood “jalea”. There was barely fish and barely shrimp. I paid so much for a horrible service and the onion/tomato salad that comes with it was so bad. I am confused cause either they got my order wrong or they was rushing. To me it’s sad because i saw all the good reviews but then see my order for a family reunion was terrified. I tried calling the place multiple times and no one picked up. Reason i am writing this review is because i put my money on something that i thought was gonna be great. I really wanted to try to give this place a chance again but i don’t know. La candela never FAILED me but i wanted to try something new. As also i am a food critique.
Good food had the skirt steak. Gave it a 4 star cus I felt like the waiter wasn’t attentive as she should have been. Had to keep asking twice for certain things. Like drinks and napkins.
The food is really delicious. I highly recommend it. The only thing that I dislike its the music with high volume which doesnt allow you to speak properly with your friends or family members, otherwise, I would give them five stars; I understand that they have a bar that its on the side of the restaurant, but that doesnt mean that you have to be force to listen the music that other people wants to listen while drinking, some of us are going because of the high quality of food they serve, while you enjoy a nice environment with your beloved ones. Other than that I think this is a really good restaurant not just because of the food but the attention as well. They are also very clean, which is a plus, now a days many places lack of the hygiene measures that are required.
The food was amazing the service was great. Love it. The portions was large amount was worth every dollar. Fried rice was better here than Chinese. Definitely coming back!!!
Chicken was delicious and juicy. The ceviche was amazingly spicy and fresh.
If I could give this 0 stars I honestly would. Everything was going smooth until we got our food... the server bough out our entrees and I asked where our appetizers were, she said they’re coming out and I asked if they’re appetizers why would She bring them with the entrees... rudely she said well you should’ve said you wanted them as an appetizer, I said I mean if the food I ordered is under “appetizers” its an appetizers unless other wise asked for.. she literally kept arguing trying to make it seem like it was my fault, as a good customer I took everything instead of sending it back, after that happened she never came back to our table to ask if we needed anything or make sure we were good. I knew I was not wrong when another customer had an issue with her too. To make the story short the food wasn’t food at all either so we barely ate, mind you it was me, my boyfriend and my son who were dining when I asked for the bill I had to ask her co worker and I never got the bill to my table, I had to go to the front and ask where I had to pay... she rudely told me to “come here” to the table where she was eating and handed me a receipt that already included 15% gratuity and I asked why she took the tip if its only a party of 3 not 6, again she rudely said its restaurant policy! At this point I no longer wanted to argue nor be there anymore and paid and left. My cousin is a regular there and told me they never dis that to him unless the bill is over 120$ and our bill was $70 ! Would not recommend this to anyone !! HORRIBLE SERVICE and the food is not impressive at all.
Food was very flavorful. Waiter Javier was very nice and made various suggestions inclusive of taking time to explain the various meal options. The dining area and the restrooms were extremely clean and well taken care of. Prices were really reasonable as well and meal options were decently sized.
Staff was a amazing, the place is very cozy with plenty of space for big parties. We were 13!! And had everything we asked in a heartbeat... more aji, more canchita... they were great! I had a Cau cau de aji de gallina... OMG! It was delicious (be mindful allergens... it accompanies with lomo salgado de carne y camaronI loved the mix
Review update: used to be my go-to place for Peruvian but hasnt been up to my standards lately. Went this past weekend and my husband had a piece of metal string (from dishwasher brilloin his soup. The waitress tried to tell us that it was the string used to tie the chicken, but we both have food-handling experience and know what that piece of metal was from. The fact that it was denied to be brillo made us both feel like this place was losing their touch. Will be in search of a new Peruvian place for sure. (If I dont find another, la candela in Hicksville is the place to go!)Love this place! Always perfect food every single time! Service is great and every experience is to notch! 100000 times better than La Candella II!
This place definitely gets a four star for great ambiance, service and desserts! The churrasco and fish meals were phenomenal. The one thing lacking was flavor for their side of beans but other than that this place was a great find in an area is often overlooked.
Great place, excellent food. Service friendly. Clean
Food is amazing, service is excellent. Always have a good time there.
Only thing good in this place is the chicha... Food didnt taste so great... Huancaina sauce was horrible made w cheddar cheese instead of queso fresco and palillo lol tasted like metal.. aji de gallina was watery and the ocopa was ok the service was good the taste of the food wasnt the waitress fault so based on all this i give them a 1 but wouldnt recommend this place nor go back here. Sorry.
