Eisgrub-Bräu - Brewery in Mainz, Germany
Eisgrub-Bräu in Mainz
Description
Great beers and food! The schnitzel and the pork knuckle are a must!!
Wow this place had amazing food awesome beer and great atmosphere I would definitely go back here and bring anyone from out of town here Prices were reasonable except for $6.50 for Stillwater total rip off there service was good and beer was amazing of course
MoreFirst eats in Mainz. Loved the pork knuckle with saurkraut. Classy but not pretentious. Clean and modern, yet traditional. You can drink a tower of Hellus or a hundred dollar bottle of wine and feel at ease. Will come back to try more German dishes.
MoreHighly recommended by our hotel. We agree. The snitzel in peppercorn sauce. We added small salads and the beer tiramisu
MoreExcellent food and beer. I come here regularly with friends to have a good time.. All my friends who came here for the first time are crazy about the beer. "Its sooo tasty"
MoreExcellent service and amazing food.
Nice beer and meal !!
Amazing beer and food. Perfecto cooked Eisbein and delicious beer. Definitely recommend.
MoreWhen i drink beer i realize that i have not drink anything better in my life!!We drink beer eat schnitzel wish mash-room sauce and then went to Mainz arena to the match with Herta!Love this please and Mainz as well, have to come once more!
MoreI used to go there more often and on weekends after a long time and its meanwhile disastrous. The beer is no longer available in stone jugs, everything is overpriced and the Käsespätzle are totally tasteless. I also had a stomach ache afterwards.
MoreI was there yesterday for a long time and was very disappointed. We had reserved a table for 5 people and were put at a table for four. Well, I thought half so wild ... That will be fine with a delicious beer in the Steinkrug. But fiddlesticks was... There is no more Steinkrug. Only if you order non-alcoholic beer. Then I looked in the menu for food and was super shocked at the prices. A schnitzel with fries and sauce 18.40 euros ???? That cant be true. Im afraid I wont be going there again.
MoreVery good food and service
Excellent atmosphere, food, staff and price!
Where the beer is cold and the schnitzel is delicious!!!!!
Unbelievably good food, they brew their own delicious beer and the staff work super hard while being super friendly
MoreStaff was welcoming to language-challenged customers. Our waiter spoke English well. There were no English menus, but we used Google translate and our waiters help to figure things out. The food is typical German fare and delicious. The same goes for the beer. The setting is awesome outside in good weather and cozy on the inside, if youre not that lucky. You get the see some of the process and equipment of the brewery.
MoreDecent food, even better beers. Black beer had tastes of coffee and dark chocolate. Simply devine...
MoreWe sat outside for a beer and food today. We first ordered a helles and a schwarzbier. Two helles were brought (see photo). We told the waiter and he acknowledged that a mistake was made. A few minutes later he walked by and again muttered something about the schwarzbeer. Long story short: the promised schwarzbier never came and my partner begrudgingly drank the helles which was already lukewarm by then.We also had some food which was fine but nothing special. After our food order the staff did not check in on us or ask if we wanted anything else to drink. If they did I would have told them in person that the helles has (almost for surea bacterial/wild yeast infection. It tasted of infected homebrew. I would get that batch/beer checked at a lab gents.Poor beer + poor service + not acting on mistakes - decent food = 2 stars. A bit of a disappointment.
MoreGreat. Must Visit.Brewery with good beer selectionGreat authentic German dishes.Credit cards accepted.outside and inside sitting available.First time in Germany.Went there twice in 5 days. That good.
MoreVery nice
Highly recommend the pork hock/knuckle. It takes a certain amount of fortitude to finish the entire meal. The accompanying sauerkraut was ok, added a side of spatzle (ok as well). Bratwurst on the lean/dry side but otherwise enjoyable. Good atmosphere and reasonable merchandise for sale makes for a decent souvenir.
MoreVery authentic place and definitely is a must in Mainz.Very professional and kind service, great quality beer brewed from tank and I loved the atmosphere here.
MoreWanted to visit this place for some time as it was hyped from our friends stories and we did enjoy it!Its a proper beer pub, maybe a tad outdated, with its own brewery and a lot of TVs to watch football. We sat indoors and enjoyed the ambience of this historical restaurant, apparently the very first brewery in Mainz. We could observe pipes, brewing tanks and open barrels with fermenting beer all around us. It was maybe a bit too dark inside, but nothing to be bothered about. Outside area seating was at the curb, but there was almost no traffic on Sunday afternoon to be distrub by.Large selection of typical German food and even more beers was available! Once we ordered, the food came very quickly, in less than 30 minutes. Waiter was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and he seemed to have everything under control. He brought an English menu without us asking for it, even though we could have access to the online menu via QR code. The pork knuckle with mashed potatoes was so big that we could not finish it and had to pack it and take it with us. It was super tasty, crunchy and crispy on the outside but soft and tender from the inside. Mashed potatoes were lovely too, very creamy though. Bavarian fried sausage was excellent as well, complemented with the sauerkraut.I surprisingly did not really enjoy the beer, I ordered a pilsner type of beer but it was not as bitter as I expected and it was not as cold as I would have liked. Overall we had fun and loved the food! Paid with card. Visited in May 2022.
MoreA must visit brewery in Mainz!! Loved the vibe
Another house brewing place. 10 Minutes walk from "Römisches Theater" - Station. Good place for a beer with friends, in a cool Atmosphere. Food was delicious and the portions more than on other places.
MoreBest place for a drink after a long journey. Beer here is amazing. So is the food. Pork knuckle is a must-try and my personal favourite, the Turkey Schnitzel. If you ever in Mainz, you have to try this place.
MoreEasily THE WORST service Ive ever had. I was by myself on lunch time, guy at the door gave me a seat, it wasnt that busy, half of the tables were empty, and theyre taking everyones order but me. Even after they took mine(ordered 1dish, 1side, 1beer), I felt like the servers throwing dishes on my table, obviously took me a long time to get a bill and pay because they were absolutely not interested or caring about my table while they were checking at least 2 or 3 times on the tables next to me. At first, I thought theyre being kinda tough maybe because I cant speak German(which also doesnt make sense, they had their own English version of menu for tourists), but after I finished my meal I couldnt stop thinking theyre being rude because Im asian, as people sitting on the table right next to me didnt speak German either and they were not treated like me. I dont know it might be just me being paranoid feeling bad things about this restaurant(which I wish it is), but I never ever had this kind of feelings in all the restaurants in Europe Ive been.Food was alright, not recommended tho. Im not expecting huge kindness, just dont ruin someones whole day because of your service.
MoreThis place was amazing! The ambiance and history of this restaurant was perfect! Great menu, and beer selection. The Turkey Schnitzel with peppercorn gravey was delicious! Great choice in the charming, downtown area of Mainz 👌
MoreGood pub with amazing beer and food. Staff was very friendly. Cozy atmosphere. Light beer was my favorite. The beer is brewed in-house. A must place to visit when in Mainz. Just 5 minute walk from the station.
MoreOne of my favorite places in Mainz. Beers are amazing 😃 service and food is great 👍🏻
MoreAlways happy to go back thereGood food and good beerVery friendly staffWell done
Very cool place! Food was very good and loved the beer options! The spaetzle dish was our favorite. Next time well try the pork knuckle. We saw others with that dish and it looked amazing!
MoreI have been 3 times now and have changed my opinion from the first impression. The food is traditional German and it’s excellent. The Schweinshaxe is some of the best I’ve had and the slow cooked beef rib is superb.Their dark beer is quite good. Friendly service on the last two visits, so-so on the first. Also, the building is very cool.
MoreFood was much tastier than expected. Great beer.
A staple for every layover in Mainz. Whether I stop in for a quick lunch or we spend a few hours in the evening for dinner and drinks, I am never disappointed! The goulash is very nice and light, perfect for lunch with a bier! The bier is delicious with varieties to suit everyone’s tastes. For dinner, I always go with the schnitzel. They have all the sauces you could want on it. I go simple and I enjoy the bratkartoffeln and rotkraut! The service is fantastic and the place gets busy Thursday-Saturday evenings!
MoreThe beer was so good and loved the turkey schnitzel with beer sauce!! My dad had the ox cheek and said it was really tender and tasty. Would highly recommend as had a great atmosphere too and was not too expensive.
Morenever let me down. €12.8 for huge pork knuckle, €4.9 for house light beer. enjoy a relaxing afternoon with my accompany. we went there around 1pm, theres only one waiter to serve many tables, yet he is still helpful and patient. btw i cant finish the knuckle and the waiter help me to pack it. it is still crispy after few hours.
MoreVery nice and chill vibes inside the restaurant. Service was ok but food especially the crispy pork knuckle wins the restaurant 5 star rating! The meal we had was brilliant. Staff can understand English quite well. They recommended us the beer we wished to have. Tho we were not beer fans but we did enjoyed. Nice decor. Great dining experience.
MoreOwn brewery.. excellent German fare food... pork knuckle crispy outside, gorgeous salad. Reasonable price. What else to complain... none.
MoreI ordered Schnitzel and schwein haxe. It was very nice crispy and miosty.Inside of restaurant are narrow feel like cave. but atmosphere is nice. They made beer them self.To find traditional German restauant, come here
MoreVery nice beer house.. They have homemade beers.. The food amazing..the pork knuckle crunchy out.. And inside softy and juice.. . The atmosphere is very good... Lots of seats... And every time busy... 😁 Better to booking if you would like to go there😉.. Good place for groups also...
MoreHad fun with my colleagues here..HUGE portions..tried the pork knuckle, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender in the inside with some nice sauerkraut around it. Also had the stuffed bell pepper w mashed potatoes, a delicious veggie dish. Drank the dark beer on tap..served ice cold in its traditional stein..neighbours were ordering 3 & 5 litre towers that they could self-pour at their own table. My other colleague had the snitzel, which was so big both ends were hanging off either side of the plate. The place is cavernous and the service was extremely fast for such a hopping place. The server was super warm and friendly. Very authentic and local...if you want real German food this is it!
MoreVery chill place for pork knuckle, schnitzel, sausages and beer. They have their own home brewed beer, which is very unique. Highly recommend to order homemade dark beer, super nice!!!The waiters there are sincere and friendly. The best beer factory in Mainz so far.
MoreThe beer and food is excellent, but for a reason of another the schweinhaxe lure in an insane amount of flies, making it very hard to enjoy the moment. This problem is purely related to the schweinhaxe, so I only removed one star.
MorePerfect Schweinhaxe with a really nice home made beer. Price might be a bit high but the place, the attention and the beer make it very reasonable.
MoreVisited during lunch time. The crispy Schweinshaxe was the BEST! Beer was great too.
MoreVery interesting place. Felt like there is a lot of history. They have own brewerd beer. The beer and the food is ok. Nice waitress and smart-ass guy at the door.
MoreVery nice location, it is a very typical place (brewery). The dishes on the menu are attractive. I took a schnitzel with gorgonzola sauce and french fries and it was pretty good! Great choice of beers. I strongly suggest this place!
MoreAmazing dining experience. Accommodating staff. Huge selection of beers. Order the pork knuckles, you wont finish it all in one sitting but you wont regret it.
MoreWent around noon on a Tuesday the 18th. I was their first customer during the time, the sever was nice enought to let me sit inside the restaurant. I got the pork knuckle and a beer with my meal. The total come out to 29 euro with a bottle of their drink back with me.
