Wine estate with tastings, restaurant with al fresco dining, vineyard walks and fishing, plus lodge.
We had dinner on a gorgeous evening on the terrace. Very busy so we understood why service was a bit slow. Food was delicious and overall a very pleasant experience. The dogs were allowed and that gets a 5 star from me.
Lovely wine food and service
Long waiting time. Orders not correct.
My family and I was there on Saturday for my mothers birthday.when we arrived our table wasnt ready but I made a reservation in the week already. When we sat down the lady only came once to pour wine, luckily we knew 1 of the stuff members and she continue helping us.we asked for a platter which took 20mins.there was no plates or cutlery given to us.There as a couple ( white they just sat down they got their wines on time, plates and cutlery was given to them 10mins later they received platter.I am very disappointed and will not go there ever again.regret going there
Really great wine tasting experience, excellent cabernet-merlot blend and the cheese platter a treat that shouldnt be missed.
Had the wine and cheesecake paring. It was OK, excepted more.
We really enjoyed the run we attended at the venue. Beautiful venue!! However the staff at the restaurant were not very friendly. I would think twice to come to the restaurant again.
Fabulous cheesecake and wine pairing experience. A great place to escape the Hussle and bussle.
Did a qinw tasting and Chantal was very knowledgeable about the wines and history of the farm! Will definitely come back for a meal!!
If you want the best Gnocchi and great wine.
Eikendal Vineyards flourish within the “Golden Triangle”, a renowned microclimate of wine growing, on the R44 road between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. The view is lovely though perhaps a bit close to the road. The parking is made safe by friendly and helpful security guards and a boomed gate.We were a large party that werely kindly acommodated with a wine tasting and lunch in the resturant. The acoustics of the restuarant area somehow made the space extremely loud. Everyone kept raising their voices and it was difficult to converse with the people at my table. The second thing that struck me about this dining area was the confused styling and decor. It seemed to be combining decorative elements that were completely uncohesive and from very different historic time periods and design styles. While the separate elements were mostly rather lovely, when all combined they were a less than sophisticated jumble. There were elaborate steel chandeliers which matched the antique golden frames, but were completely at odds with the tacky canvas prints of Marylyn Manroe and James Dean - which would work better in a road-side diner or grill house. Between these were a variety of plates on the wall, which felt like an expression of the warm farm house trend. They will need to choose one style and commit to it. Im sure this is not noticed by most guests, but as a wine farm with some history they must create a consistent visual style and standard to support a level of sophistication. This communicates the attention to detail you would expect of their wine making. The staff were however extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. They provided excellent service. My coffee was great and I liked the bunny latte art. My beef salad was a slither away from being too dry and didnt quite live up to its spicy and saucy description. Though it was quite good none the less. The wine tasting was fair and the red wines were quite good. There are some beautiful views and there is a down to earth warmth about the human connection that staff create. It is worth a visit but there are many Vineyards I would recommend first.
Great service. Extensive menu. Food is great!
Such a special place when visiting the Winelands. Sweeping views, outside seating, marvelous food and wine, great service. Food prices absolutely reasonable. Its all there. Well done Eikendal!
Professional service, top quality wine and very welcoming staff
Lovely wine and great food. Fun for the kids as well
A bit busy, did the cheesecake and wine pairing which was nice, ate at the restaurant afterwards. Overall a rushed/busy vibe, slow service, the outside seating area smelt like cat droppings due to the sand at the kids play area, with cat droppings noted near our initial table, we had to move to another area to avoid the bad cat dropping smell… not a great overall experience…
Had a really excellent tasting cheesecake and wine pairing. 3 wines with 3 cheesecakes. Was probably a little on the pricier side, but enjoyable with knowledgeable staff
It was the first time I visited the estate. View and atmosphere was really good. Wine tasting and wine very enjoyable. The one thing that spoilt the afternoon was the poor service. Had to go look for a waiter to serve us more wine. Not one waiter came to our table to see if we needed any food or more wine.
We had the best time at Eikendal! The pizzas are beyond divine! Setting and service is amazing.
Incredible wine experience and delicious scenery. Amazing food at the restaurant
Never had a bad experience here! Good food, friendly waiters, reasonable prices.
Eikendal Vineyards reminds one of just how important it is to keep traditional values. Red or white, their wine is more than a glass of basic balanced flavour, one can sense the passion of labour, and having said that, throughout generations
Had a great meal here while doing some wine tasting. Very nice relaxing atmosphere and great food. Highly recommended.
Very good food with professional friendly service! Excellent wines!!
Lovely well distanced outside seating and superb view over dam and vineyards. A wide variety of dishes on the menu including superb pizzas, pasta dishes, starters and mains, plus burgers and steaks. Desserts and coffees to suit every taste make this a memorable experience. The waiters were great too. Well certainly be back again...
Fantastic service and fairly cheap wine tasting. The cheese platter was also phenomenal and we shared it as a snack between 4 people, which was more than enough - would gladly have it as a sharing lunch between 2. (PS: our photo does not include the two pieces of ciabatta bread or the filled peppadews which are included.)
Lovely choice of outside seating with lake views, tasty food, chef can always make a plan for your special dietary needs, excellent customer service, wine testing and good wine.
Pet friendly, great staff, excellent food. Just cant wait for us to be able to drink some great wine with our food. Please support them so that they can survive this lockdown horror.
Very nice place lovely food would give a 5 star but the waiters didnt arrive with the drinks until reminded for 2nd time but over all would recommend for families and for the easy going dinner Not for quick in quick out!
Most enjoyable and beautiful place to visit, excellent food, wine, ambience, good value for money, excellent service.
Friendly, relaxing in a beautiful setting with really good food. Be willing to wait once you ordered, they are very busy on a Sunday but it will be worth it. I orderd a bone marrow topped with garlic butter snails - excellent!
Beautiful setting, good food, good service.
Wow. Absolutely amazing food and great wines. We did not do the wine tasting, but went for Sunday lunch. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked. The sirloin steak was also perfect. The Mike salad was delicious with walnuts and berries and cheese. The cheese cake was great. The grilled calamari was some of the best Ive ever had. And on top of all of that, the customer service was great.
If youre south african you would love this place. The helpings are more than enough and deliciosa! This Italian restaurant at Eikendal is just fabulous! Loviley to sit outside if the weather is good. Wine tasting venue is fabulous and apitizing.Bring your friends and be prepared to spend more than two hours easily.
Had an awesome time at Cucina di Giovanni and great food.
Great food. Party of 3 and 3 different meals were excellent. White and red wines have really great options at reasonable prices and as far as the food is concerned, the portions are also generous. The kids play area and the beautiful setting mean that the restaurant is extremely busy so booking is essential. Service is also really good.
Very nice setting and vibe. Good menu and one of the best outside seatings I have ever experienced.Menu is also very good and waiting staff is effective. Please note that they are generally rather busy. So booking is advised.
Beautiful farm, yummy food and lovely wine
We enjoyed the unique cheesecake and wine pairing at Eikendal. Lemon, berry and salted caramel cheesecake pieces are paired with Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and Chardonnay wines. The best pairing was the lemon cheesecake which emphasized the citrus in the Sauvignon Blanc. They also have other wines and pairings such as an unusual pizza pairing, but will be back for that during a future visit!
My girlfriends and I had a fantastic wine tasting experience by booking a cellar tour at Eikendal Wine Estate. The winemaker, Nico Grobler, uses modern techniques to produce the fruitiest vines possible. From there, the grapes are harvested and wine is produced Old World style: the grapes are left to do their thing. My favorite part of this tasting was comparing and contrasting the Chardonnay with the Unwooded Chardonnay. The tasting room doest require reservations but call ahead if you would like to do the cellar tour. There is a lodge and restaurant on site, as well.
Hi everything was good food the wine and the service thanks alot
The farm has a short hike route round the vineyard which gives good views of the surrounding hills. Autumn colours in the vineyards are worth the trouble of putting some takkies/trainers in the car and taking a walk before enjoying the pizza ( which is excellent). The only downside is that the restaurant only opens at 12.
Awesome cheesecake wine pairing experience!
Beautiful setting in the Winelands and great food! P.S go on the free tractor ride through the Eikendal Vineyards! Take a glass of wine with you!
Our first stop for wine tasting. They were clearing from the weekend’s festivities. Wines for tasting were good and will buy, the courtyard where we sat just ok, but the views over the dam great.
Excellent Food and Ambience. However the waiter should have explained that their was both a Starter and a Main option. We received one of each but were charged for 2 mains; as we were a big table I let it slide this time. A bit more waiter training should alleviate this unfortunate mishap.
Nice experience. Wine and cheesecake tasting was fun and the Italian restaurant has a nice menu with good prices.
Great service and lovely food. Fantastic atmosphere
Been to the restaurant there twice last week,Great tasting food, well presented, we all enjoyed what we ordered.Excellent staff and Warren the manager is very pleasant and accommodating. Will take my next visitors there.
What amazing food! Took a group of 7 and the service was great, wines well priced and food amazing. From starter to desert brilliant. Lovely view and seating as well.
