Eighth Maine Regiment Memorial in South Portland

Set on the oceanside, this seasonal inn is housed in an 1891 Queen Anne style property, originally built for reunions of the Eighth Maine Volunteer Regiment who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It's a 12-minute walk to Maine Island Kayak Company.The basic airy rooms (some with water views) share bathroom facilities. Some rooms have access to a shared balcony, and family rooms are also available.Amenities include a guest kitchen and a dining area, plus a recreation hall with beamed ceilings and fireplace, featuring a piano, foosball and ping-pong table. There's also a museum and daily history tours of the building.
