Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Frankfurt am Main

Very neat fortress they have Rotating art galleries and make great use of the space with concerts in the summer and fall. Lots of historic things to see and great views there is also a restaurant and Cafe.Plus there is a play ground on the grounds near by aswell as an observation deck to enjoy the breath taking views.

Great history. We had a period correct guide which made it fun and interesting. Wonderful gondola ride over the river to get there.

Excellent Fortress fortification against enemies, perched atop a hill in Koblenz, Germany. Dates from 1836, w a guide in period dress guiding us thru. The gondola back across the Rhine River is also a must! Go back in history!

Interesting but no information in english or any other language also the route around the fort was not very well marked out felt that we only saw a fraction of the fort

Great place to visit , very big fort with great views over the rivers . Access via the gondola was good 18 euros for the gondola and the ticket to fort per person

A beautiful fortress with lots of history. Well planned by our ancestors. Was told by the tour guide that this is the largest fortress in EU.

We visited the Fortress with a guide arranged by our Viking River Cruise who did the tour as a British spy researching the layout of the Fortress. He made the tour fascinating, humorous, as well fact filled. The construction of the fort was made to make almost impregnable. There is a wonderful gondola to take you up from the river across to the top of the hill. The views up there are amazing for viewing the city below.

Nice place to visit if you are intersted in history and forts!!. I had nothing to enjoy there but cable car journey was good!!

Great outing. You can feel the history. Would benefit from more English translations but thats about the only minus. Combi ticket with the cable car is great if you dont have a problem with heights.

Fascinating. Hot and little shade but enjoyed the visit and exhibits. Signage could be better. Even the menus at the snack shops are hard to find and decipher

Beautiful place with a beautiful view on deutsche ecke! I arrived there walking because of the 14€ of chairlift and then be ready for other 8€ ticket.Id recommend the walking for the view

An Amazing place with history dating back to the Romans

Bombastic huge and impressive. Almost too big. Take the cable car from the city across the Rine. Cool museum displays. Awesome panorama view of city and river confluence.

Impressive fortress.A lot to see and discover.Unfortunately there is no logic or recommendation what route to follow when visiting the different parts of the fortress.That could be better.The foto museum was disappointing.Overall still worth while to go to !Great view of the city !

Huge fortress normally accessed by cable care.

It was not free to get in the fortress and there is definitely not much to see inside. Except the beautiful view from all up there it was not really worth it.

A large fortress :)Therefore it would take pretty long to discover everything here. I could just look briefly thru the site.But almost everything is in German. Im surprised that such a touristy place doesnt have English description :/P/S: there are bathrooms located INSIDE the fortress, but the bathroom before entering the fortress would cost 50 Cent. So if you have the entrance ticket, wait until youre inside to use them.

As old fortresses go, this is one of the most interesting. Fascinating how different flags have flown over the fort as different nations have conquered the lands, including the USA...twice! Sasha is a thespian guide who gets into character and makes it even more interesting.

Its a good place to enjoy the Koblenz city view. Not quite a lot to see in the fort, except some temporary exhibition but a nice view and good sunset point.

Massive and beautiful fortress. Very easy to reach using the cable car. It houses exhibitions which are a treat. There is a cafe too and the fortress offers fantastic views of the rivers and the city.

Amazing place full of history. They have shows during the years. Second biggest fortress in Europe after Gibraltar it was never broken in. Amazing. We went on a very hit day and the coolness inside was welcomed. Lots of reconstructed room to show how soldiers used to live. On the top the view of Ko lens is amazing. You can get some drinks and food with a view. Make the trip up in the gondola. Highly recommended for a fantastic view of the German corner and the 2 rivers meeting.

Its so amazing to see around a city thats located at two major rivers. The cable car that takes you to the fortress is nice and spacious. A nice view you see from it worth riding it and the best way to reach up the fortress. One of the amazing German spots is Ehrenbreiten Fortress, its well done built!

It’s nicely curated and converted into museum of the old time remains of world war! Interesting to visit all chambers to feel through the life of soldiers and people who stayed there in those times!

It isnt the place that surprised me but the view of "Deutsches Eck" is stunning and the cable ride up to the fortress is really nice as well.

Great view from the fort over koblenz

Great but be careful, it is easy to get lost. We found our way in easy, enjoyed super displays and then struggled to find our way out. Its a big place!

Great View of the rivers Rhein & Mosel from the top. Easy to get there either by Cable car or by car. The Fortress viewpoint can also be visited for free of cost after 6pm every day.

Very nice and beautiful place

This fort is much bigger that it first appears. The majority of it is set into the hillside. When you approach it from the top, the walls seem pretty insignificant until you are sctually inside. There is a huge "No Mans land between and inner and outer wall. I would estimate that this area is 20-30 yards wide. In addition to the width, the walls are very high. There are many gunports so the defenders could easily hit any person in this area. Once, you are inside the inner walls, the area is very large with beautiful views of the river and city below. There is a cable car that provides access to the fort from the opposite side of the river.

Absolutely spectacular panoramic view of the city down as well as that of the mighty Rhien in both the directions which is always busy with the boats and ferries running up and down.A visit to the castle and a walk around is strongly recommended. It is worth it.

I went to visit the Festung Ehrenbreitstein today in the heart of the city of Koblenz, on 04/07/2022. the place has its great history but I left the place without knowing much about “which” moment in the history of Germany it was a part!.,, come on: no place has information in English! There is no internet signal (which even makes it difficult to translate in appsthe totally neglected place, with grass and weeds everywhere, the monument that is there in memory of the German soldiers heroes: old flowers, DIRTY and dusty monument, neglect with such a special place for the country. Like the place, yes, but having absolutely nothing in English, frustrated me. I paid to know some of the history and I couldnt find out! City Hall should know about this! Foreign tourists must also have the right to knowledge!!

The fortress itself was a bit chaotic, but the view was absolutely stunning and taking the ropeway up was also absolutely worth it.

Great history, views and outstanding exhibits, museum. Take the Gondola Ride from Koblenz Deutsches Eck, book tickets online, lobg lines.You also can take bikes up with the Gondola, down by bike.

A historical place. An added bonus is a beautiful view over Koblenz.

Oh yes go with a guide so you really understand what everything is.

It was part of a tour package. Theres an aerial tram that takes you to the fortress with a great view. The tour guide was dressed in period costume and presented the info as someone in the 1800s. A great bit of history given about the fortress- easy for a disabled person to get around.

The cable car trip up to here is fun. The castle was interesting but difficult to to negotiate our way around , a few fixed wallmaps in to guide people around wouldnt go amiss. Unless you speak German you will need to bring or download the history to what is such a historic place.

The gondola ride up is the best part. We took a walking tour through the fort which has interesting stone work. The map to the fortress includes a lot of interesting facts. We did not visit any of the exhibits due to time constraints - they were probably more interesting than the physical layout of the fort.

This is a must visit place in Koblenz. There are many ways to get here. The easiest way is to take a cable car from Deutsches eck. The cable car and fortress ticket cost around eur 17 altogether. You can also go there by car. There are hiking paths as well if you like to explore by walk. The view from top is breathtaking. You can see the two rivers merging and also the full bird view of Koblenz city. The fortress is very big from inside and lots of places to explore. Audio guides are available to learn about the history of the fortress.

Very rich history. A massive structure. Magnificent overlook of the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine. A shirt but fun funicular crosses the river. The building themselves are not elaborate or detailed like some cathedrals etc..

Nice place to enjoy the view and how the great German start up their nation.

A beautiful castle with an absolutely great view with many places to discover and exhibits to participate at! Some special events also happen regularly, including a middle age one in Summer :)

You could spend EASILY 3-4 hours here and feel like you havent seen everything or taken in the views. This place is HUGE.Go down every tunnel or stairs you find that is not closed off and you will discover something totally new. Take a map or keep track of where you have been on Google.Bathrooms in the middle were clean and stocked. No food was there in Feb. Gift shop was cute and the lady working the counter was VERY kind to us. Spoke English well.

I loved the place! There is a cable car which takes us to this fortress. The whole city view can be seen from the top. A must visit place for all visiting the Deutsches Eck. The fortress is also accessible by car. The fortress is very unique and different from the other forts in germany(I don’t know why:))But had a nice time here!!

Fortress is beautiful from outside. There is not much to see inside the fortress. There is a view point in the outside of the fortress from which you can see the entire city including the Deutsches Eck. The Christmas garden is extremely awesome 👌

Wonderful city, The ascent and descent on the cable car costs 12 euros.
