Eggs 'n Things Ala Moana - Pancake restaurant in Honolulu, United States
This will be a zero star if it’s allow. We made a reservation and came in to eat on Wednesday morning, we came to the restaurant, it wasn’t busy at all in there, but Denisag still let us wait till everyone on the party is here, which we had 2/3 at the moment, but my dad can barely walk or stand, which is kinda having a bad mood about it already, but after we all here, we ask for booth seats which it’s empty, then the server started to get annoying about it maybe? Because she started to throw the plates and utensils on the table. We were trying to talk it out, but she end up saying “don’t yell at me” which we didn’t yell, and we were try to look for her manager, and she told us “ she is the manager, what are you trying to say” and started to question us “ what’s your attitude”, we end up leaving the restaurant with very bad mood to start off the day, the servers name is Denisag, I’m not sure if she is the manager or not, but never been treat like this before at a restaurant, we understand it’s a policy for them that the whole party have to be here to be seated, but at the time, it wasn’t busy at all, A lot of empty tables, my dad is 80 years old, she doesn’t seem to have a heart on handicap person, because she kept mention about the handicap seat, which is foldable but she mention as can’t fit the booth. I wouldn’t recommend this location because of the service specially if the manager are acting like this. Their food is always good but not this location, maybe try a different location, the atmosphere of the employees or server are better in Waikiki location
Best breakfast! Service great. Atte time to needs. Anticipated requests before I did. Been here several times, great each game! Will be back soon!
Great breakfast spot. Go early to beat the crowds of tourists. Great quantity of food for the price. I always get their omelets and hash browns.
Wish I could give more stars because the women in here were very nice including manager. It took one man -Randy- to bring this rating down to 2 stars for me. Im going to flat out say it Randy came off very racist towards us. 4 African Americans brought out his truth I guess. We woke up starving and picked a place but a quick turn accidentally put us here (around 8am). We were so hungry we decided to park and go in. On entry were greeted by the ladies and seated Went straight to viewing the menu ,barely said a word to each other we were focused lol.Randy appears We start ordering drinks he says ok and literally walks away as were still talking he had to turn back to us to answer "Kona coffee". We think wow hes in a rush. Now for food, we all know what we want so were going around the table , he takes 2 orders and starts walking away again! says ok hell be back for other 2. We say no way were all ready now.At this point we start to feel its personal because the place wasnt crowded where is he running to? Food arrives we ask for ketchup packets (the bottle on table was dirtyRandy says we dont have those & were thinking what do they give for take out? As were about start to eating more patrons enter, Randy now has 4 tables us, a hawiian family behind us, 2 tables both white families in front of us. We see and hear him greet all those tables with a smile, actually stood at every one having conversations and laughs. Randy has checked on the 3 tables multiple times, NEVER came back to us even tho we were there first. Just imagine your waiter passing you by going to table behind and in front of you. We flagged down a waitress and inform her of whats going on with randy & ask for someone else she apologized and helps us with more coffee, we then ask her about ketchup packets she says they have them and brings us a bunch from a basket at the front desk where they all stand!! Geesh were not even worth ketchup packets? Anyway the whole experience was such a turn off we all ate due to hunger but definitely lost our appetite. We explain entire situation to manager she apologized multiple times. We PAID our BILL with tip to new waitress and left. Shame on him, shame this review is not food focused the meals were likely very good but we lost any joy for the food at that point.
Food was excellent & service great. The only down side was the wait time, which we believe was due to a lack of staff.
Terrible food - ordered eggs Benedict on taro bread with potatoes. The food was quite old and made me sick immediately after having it. The potatoes were refried old ones. The hollandaise sauce was poured on the side slice of orange. And Benedict eggs yellow were soft boiled. Food was also tasteless and not worth it. Really bummed this ruined my appetite for the day where I have better food plans for rest of the day. Highly recommend to stay away. The ambience was also unappealing and looked unclean. The fresh juice was actually poured out of a store bought gallon jug. Stay away!
We came here because we heard the food was good (we were very excited to eat breakfast here), but felt unwanted by the staff. There was a 25 mins wait for our party of 6, had to wait outside even though there was a paper saying only one party could wait inside. Started raining and there was no one waiting inside, we were the only party. We asked if we could wait inside. And we were told “No you have to wait outside in the rain” the manager or chef(wasn’t surewas rude and very unfriendly. I thought that was very Rude (not even a smileWe just left, I was not gonna spend my money in a place where people that are going to handle my food are rude from the beginning. Will definitely try another location, hope they are less rude and more accommodating. 👎
***EAT HERE***But prepare for a WAIT.Good breakfast portions!Lovely presentation and visually appealing.Coffee is tasty.Wife had Florentine Eggs Benedict with pancakes and rates it a 7 of 10. Needs more flavor. Perhaps onion. Pancakes were made perfectly and very fluffy but had a heavy taste of flour.I had the macadamia fruit pancakes and they were excellent. 10 of 10 for me. Ask for extra syrup and try the butter. Sensational.SERVICEVery good even though busy. Kimmie was great.WAITAlways a wait. 27 min for us and we ate at 1100.BILL$46 for the two of us. $55 with tip. We didnt buy anything extra. 2 meals and two drinks.CLEANLINESSNot the greatest. Im rating this a 5 of 10 based on the bathrooms. Theyre not trashed, but definitely need a good scubbing. Nothing that the management cant rake control of to boost the rating.Deep clean and repair things broken.RETAINING COVIDTake the stupid barriers down and open up the beakfast bar seating already. We are done with the stupidity and have learned that plexiglass didnt change a thing.Hit the HELPFUL button if this was beneficial for you.Mahalo,Brian HargisGoogle Expert Guide
Delicious! It was so good that we ate their twice during our stay in Hawaii.
Love this breakfast spot , I had an over easy egg with fried rice . The fried rice had so much flavor , I truly enjoyed it . The pancakes were thick and good & tangy bbq wings were so good they fell off the bone . I definitely recommend
During our very 1st visit to Oahu, we tried to find a "less touristy" more local restaurant for brunch. We really like the food and setup there.
I went to Egg n Things Ala Moana to pick up my Doordash Orders in the morning around 9:30am on Aug 2nd. As I was packing my customers take out order in the counter, one elderly Hawaiian waitress came to me bluntly hostilely & rudely saying “don’t put your Doordash bags on the counter, put them on a chair because they are dirty”. I was using a brand new insulated bag. It was an extremely unpleasant experience for me. Hopefully that elderly waitress will learn some people skills & learn how to be nice & polite to gig economy workers.
Loved this place, the service and food was great. There was a wait but it was worth it.
All of the food was on point however some of the potatoes tasted a little off. Other than that, super delicious food!
Got the loco moco and the Hawaiian pancake sampler, everything was delicious. Loved the Portuguese sausage they add to the loco moco. Randy was an excellent server. He recognized a problem with our order without us even mentioning it and had it fixed in five minutes. Great service.
I guess people who gave 5 stars to this restaurant were VERY generous because they were in happy happy vacation mode.If you’re looking for an overpriced sugary snack, this is a place to go. But it you want some good breakfast, don’t. Thank me later.
Ordered on Uber Eats so we anticipated the food might be just warm. It was cold. Delivery was very speedy. For the price the food was mediocre at best. Probably best to eat at the restaurant- we could not due to location constraints. Vegan choices for delivery were limited. Had potatoes and a Beyond burger. My partner had scrambled eggs, potatoes and Turkey bacon. All items were cold. Go visit the restaurant!!
It’s just ok nothing special. When asking for non dairy options for coffee, was told they have powdered, then a pitcher comes and and we questioned they said, oh we mix the powdered. Didn’t trust them. They need to be more inclusive of non traditional food items and include more vegan/vegetarian including non milk options. Would not return.
Really great food but really big portions! There were so many things on the menu that we wanted to get, we went a little crazy. Highlights were the rainbow pancakes and French toast flavors (pictured). We ordered banana and chocolate chip, both were amazing. The rainbow pancakes had macadamia nuts in them which was tasty. The array of fresh fruit on top was great. They also had a breakfast burrito and other pancake flavors which we liked. We did have to reserve a table, but the wait wasnt long and we did it in person. A great place for breakfast, just consider sharing the portions were enormous!
Not a bad breakfast spot near Waikiki. Did not like that I had to check-in and provide my info even when there’s no waiting. I like menu with its large variety of breakfast options.I got the pork with eggs and a short stack of pancakes which was a lot of good. I had some coffee as well. My wife got scrambled eggs with potatoes and an iced sweet cappuccino. The cappuccino was really a latte with a good amount of whip cream. The service was okay. We rated them 5-stars because my wife loved the place and the food. I likely would have gone with 4.
Great spot for breakfast. There was a short wait but it was well worth it. Pork adobo fried rice was awesome. Spam fries are exactly what you would expect from 2 great ideas spam and fries. Burrito was pretty good but 3rd best out of the things we ordered.
2022 Feb update:PROTOCOLS:* as of 2/18/22, still need your vaccination card or negative COVID test less than 48hrs old & ID to dine in.* Masks are mandatory. Wear one.* Check in with the iPad outside or on the Yelp app.* Wait outside on one of the benches, socially distanced on the sidewalk, or in your car in the free parking lot nearby.* Youll be texted when your table is ready.* Walk in and show your ID & vax card to the hostess.* ...BUT all members of your party have to be there when you get the text or you wont be seated.* Expect anywhere from a 15-45 minute wait on a weekday morning.PROS:+Still very nice customer service. Really, really good.+Very good coffee, served in those old-fashioned diner mugs.+Prices are still reasonable for the area, despite COVID-19.+COVID-19 protocols are solid and you can tell theyve done everything they can to maintain a clean, if older, location/shop.+The pancakes are magical! Order a stack and make sure you eat them with the whipped butter and coconut syrup. Sooooo good!CONS:-1st time back in over a year...the omelet today wasnt fantastic, a bit overcooked AND oily. Wouldnt mention it except that "Eggs" are the first word in the restaurants name, so...yeah. Kinda expected that to be consistent.-The ahi was not the best. Oily, oddly cut into small pieces/diced and in stingy portions, overseasoned, and overcooked. Maybe just an off day for the sauté/grill stations?-Discounts are fewer, if at all (tho its a wonder theyre still open with all the COVID-19 regs).Overall, still gonna go here for the great customer service, coffee, and pancakes--family has been coming here a long time and Im sure the rest of the menu will get better/back to normal as the pandemic levels out 🤞🤞.---Very nice customer service. Not open 24 hours like the Waikiki location. Bathrooms do not smell great, which is odd because they appear very very clean. Discounts daily, and rotating specials. Plentiful and free parking, but lot can get a little tight. Family-friendly, and the booths are large. Military discounts, Kamaaina discounts, and kids eat free on certain days. Worth the visit. Reasonable for the area. Expect a lot of tourists, and some local families. Its a nice mix. 3.5 stars. On the fence about recommending.
The food and service *SHOULD* be five stars: the reason for the deduction is the strict protocols, like having to wait until your entire party arrives, and dining in limited to one hour (sorta “unlocal” since cannot join last minute, and like wala‘au long time). But given how crowded it gets, especially during peak tourism season, I totally get it. Other than that, the food and service was excellent, 5+!
Great view and decent food. Always has a long wait usually about an 1 1/2 but if go on their yelp app you can reserve a table ahead of time and get an idea of the wait. It worked perfect for Us.
Ok .... now I remember EGGS N THINGS from way back when they first open up in kaneohe. We ate there a lot n every thing you order always had eggs.🤗We started off with the mochi waffles with fresh bananas n fresh strawberry topped with whip cream n macnuts.Love it n great starter to go with as I shared it with the wife.I than order the breakfast burrito with ham n bacon.Great taste n nice n fat too.The wife order her spinach omelet n again the bomb 🤙👍GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE 🤙🤙🙏
Excellent pancakes and eggs Benedict! Served fast and hot. I’ve been to other locations on Oahu, and I think the service and quality of the food is easily the best at this location.
My food was great! I got their special which was the French toast with apple cinnamon,, whipped cream and macadamia nut toppings. Our waiter was great too. My only complaint was the wait time was horrible. Waited almost 1 hour to get seated when there was empty seats for 20-25 minutes. Theyre seating/waiting system sucks. You definitely need to call a head or make reservations before waiting outside for almost a hour.
They are known for their pancakes but i was not impressed. The toppings were excellent however the pancakes were kind of bisquity i guess. The crepes with sour cream was strange and none of us liked that. The other food in the pictures were delicious.
Delicious breakfast and wonderful service! Denisha was a great, kind waitress and took care of everything we needed. The pancake meals are far too much for one person to eat, so I would recommend sharing with someone else. The whipped cream on top tasted so good, and was piled so high! :)
The food is amazing! They really give you a loooot of food. We bought the benedict egg with pork and salmon, with special macadamia pancakes and guava juice. The service was perfect, people were really kind. The only thing is the line, we wait for almost 40min, but at the end it was worth it ❤
This spot is amazing!!! We were hesitant to come here because the entire time we have been in Oahu the lines have been crazy long (multiple locationsbut we decided to give it a wait. The food was amazing! The eggs benny was cooked perfect, and the pancakes are delicious. I would recommend this 100% to anyone who is looking for a classic breakfast with a Hawaiian twist. -Colter
It looks clean but primitive inside. The food is of average taste, fried, to much oil and a lot of calories. My breakfast was far from healthy food
Visitor from the mainland here. A few friends raved about this place, saying I need to try it out. Glad I did!It can be confusing to find; it is not in Ala Moana mall, but a block from Foodland Farm store anchoring the mall.I only tried their Rainbow Pancakes and Spam Fries. But ... both were beyond delicious! It is clear the pancake batter is fresh made, as it has a good unique flavor that is hard to describe. Just have to try it.And the Spam fries are real good. Not overly salty. The wait times for a table can get ridiculous. I waited 15 minutes, but during my meal I heard people waiting 40-60 minutes. Get there early (before 10am Saturday).Friendly staff, I was checked-in with multiple times during my meal.
Honestly I went to eggs and things today because it was the only place open that let you go in and sit down and eat food. I ordered something very simple. The food was okay. I cant imagine I would say wow this is the greatest hamburger youve got to go there and try. I can say that the employees were nice they were polite they were mindful of the social distancing. They tried to accommodate everything we ask for within their ability. So yeah Id probably go back. DEC
Good sanitation tables wiped between customers, sprayed with cleaner. Hand sanitizer at the front door. You feel safer dining here. Same good breakfast food and great service. Tip big, the business needs you.
Always super nice servers and amazing food! If you want some yummy dinner breakfast eggs n things is the place to go. The Mochi waffle is to die for and covered in whipped cream! I highly recommend the coconut syrup!
On a recent layover I went here with my partner to grab some breakfast. He got the bacon, eggs and cinnamon roll pancakes while I got the omelet with potatoes. Food was at a good price and delicious, service was great and the pineapple juice is the best Ive ever had. Highly recommend.
Very large portion sizes! Great service. The food was very good. The pork plantation breakfast was juicy and flavorful. The pancakes were fluffy and topped with mounds of whipped cream. The loco Moco had excellent flavors with the Portuguese sausage!
We got eggs, rice & Portuguese sausage and chocolate chip pancakes! So good and huge portion size. Service was quick and we got seated quite quickly for a weekend. Overall really pleased with my experience here and I’ll be back again!
Delicious! The wait was 20 minutes on a Saturday at noon and the food was well worth the wait. I had scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and macadamia pancakes. Everything was absolutely wonderful and our server Lola was very nice and professional.
Always a great experience at Eggs n Things. The food is always good, I love the pancakes that they serve, and their coconut syrup is so good! Definitely a filling meal. There generally be a wait when you come, but its usually not too long!
Food was good! Service was slow at first but better over time. Waffle with fresh strawberries and whipped cream was delicious.
Was staying at a nearby hotel and was looking for a good breakfast place with fried rice. This place didn’t disappoint and I’m eager to come back. Ordered the island fried rice with eggs (over mediumand it was really tasty. The rice was a good mix of meats and veggies and the eggs on top were just right and made for a nice combination.
Nice place to have bunch, nice dining environment, good location and nice food. The serving size is normal in the US, but for travelers from Hong Kong, be careful that the serving is much more than expected!Pancake and waffle are delicious!!
The food was so delicious. This location can get pretty busy, so expect a bit of a wait at peak times. Portion sizes are large. My husband and I usually split meals or order 2 meals and take the rest to have the next day. The macadamia nut pancakes are just fantastic and the breakfast burrito is huge and quite filling. I’m not a fan (at allof their coffee. To me it tastes a little burnt. All in all, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu except the coffee :-). Friendly staff and convenient location makes this place a great option for hungry shoppers.
Our expectations were high due to the reviews we read. The coffee was strong which we liked and the service was fast. Our omelettes were not seasoned and very greasy. The potatoes were cold and chewy. We would not return of back in Honolulu.
Yummy food with great pancakes! Definitely a place to come for those with a sweet tooth. They also have savoury options such as omelets and poached eggs!
The menu at this location is huge! So many different options so hard to choose. The mac nut pancakes and blueberry sour cream filled crepes were delicious! The egg white veggie and potatoes were great too! Along with the kimchi! Yummy
Went there after our morning walk and got seated right away. Our waitress was a little slower moving than the others but thats okay for us. We needed time to relax. One of my sister and I had the mushroom and spinach omelette. It was okay, Its not as big as other places Ive been to. My sister had the pancakes. 5 medium sized pancakes with a mountain of whip cream and mac nuts on top. My brother in law had the Spam and eggs with rice. Dont think that was enough for him.
A Japanese-western style brunch place! The staffs were very nice and they have Hawaii fusion brunch options, which are specials for the Hawaiian branch! My first visit was in their Japanese branch, they provided fresh cream over there and it was fascinating! However I feel like in Hawaii they used whipped cream, that gave me a small disappointment but their food were still great! Locals ordered fried rice for brunch, recommended!p.s. Im so glad that they provide parking space in Waikiki area.
