Edelweiss Delicatessen & Caterers - Deli in Kings Park, United States
Yummy sausages and awesome treats in the grocery section. This time around we got sausages to grill at home and got to try a variety of 5. The quality of the sausage is really high. The cheddar jalapeño was delicious.
Great little delicatessen with an amazing selection of fresh wurst, cheese and imported German foods.
Where do I even start. Incredible! Fantastic selection of sausages, salami, and all kinds of cooked and smoked meats. Lots of cheeses, German grocery items, baked items, and German beers and wines.
Wonderful authentic German shop with amazing fresh options. Lovely staff that was very helpful and friendly. This is my first stop in Portland for any sausages or deli meats. Excited to try more of their offerings!
If you like German food, its the place to go too.
Fantastic assortment of meats, cheeses, chocolates and treats. The Reubens are the best in town, never had anything that wasnt delicious.
Great deli! I ordered a brat and bun from the hot deli. They have many pastry and beer options. The shop feels like you are in Europe.
Friendly staff and great recommendations when I asked about a few things in the meat case. Felt like a kid in a candy store! Picked up some french pate, head cheese, smoked brat, habanero brat, German brats and deli sauerkraut. Im in keto paradise. Ill be back for more weiners and cheese.
Come for the French Liver Pate with house made mustard and stay for the Classic Rueben. Top 3 sandwich Ive had in the PNW.
Have never dealt with worse customer service! Rude, inconsiderate, and got quickly frustrated when asked questions about their products. Im all for supporting small business, but these guys obviously have ZERO care for their customers. STAY AWAY!NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE that is Edelweiss
Incredible handmade sausages. Also try their sauerkraut and the fresh pretzels!
The worst vibes. Trump supporter family owns the place. Cool business but I would never support them based on how the employees are treated and overworked and spied upon everyone is, its just a really sad place. Cool products and food is propably good but yeah they suck.
First of all, I would like to say that the food at Edelweiss is truly spectacular. My 2 star review is reflective of the unspeakable rudeness of the deli staff. I observed a counter worker literally yell at the customer in front of me merely because the customer assumed the deli wanted her order ticket. I was so apalled by this that I refused to submit my order and immediately left the store.Prior to this incident, I was a once-a-week customer like clockwork. After this, I am once more on the lookout for a German deli.
Ive never eaten any of their product I live in Michigan I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this place and would love it if they ever shipped
Delicious sausage and bread rolls. I have been coming here since I was a child. Always the most delicious food and best selections of German foods. Favorites are the Mettwurst, French liverwurst, dill havarti, fleischsalat, fresh bread!, and of course and any of the delicious chocolates and candy! Makes me feel like I am back in Wiesbaden again!
Ive been going to Edelweiss for decades. Their meats/sausages are amazing. Now I drive 6 hours to get there because theyre that good.
I wad turned on to Edelweiss deli by a buddy. I was sent to grab lunch there last week while working in the area. Being midweek lunch time it was busy but the family-staff handel the rush surprisingly well, The brauts and german sausages i took back to work were sensational. I was in and out in 10mins or so but commited to go back which I did the next three days in a row. Day three I ordered a Ruben sandwich which can best be described as a work of art. I also took home some of Heidis freshly made "house mustard" and a couple pounds of sausages for the grill. Although my job in the area is finished, I intend to make Edelweiss a regular stop.
Nice place! Allows me to purchase certain German foods that I would not find anywhere else. My favorite are their cheeses and breads.
A true "Bavarian" deli with an in-house hot sandwich, sides and specialty beers. The Ruben sandwich with house made sauerkraut or red cabbage is the bomb. I havent been able to try any of the sausages, cause the red cabbage Ruben is so outrageously good. Try the deli counter or the few isles of specialty mustards, mixes, jams, pastas, teas ... and more. Great find with a VERY unique happy hour
Wow, so many different German deli meats to choose from! All delicious. There are also tons of cool German products to choose from. It gets a bit crowded but if you take your number and have a little patience, its worth it. 👍
Ive only been to Edelweiss once, but was extremely impressed! Edelweiss appears to be an extremely authentic German shop, delicatessen, and restaurant based on my few weeks in Germany, and some amazingly wonderful unsolicited help from a very kind patron who made some wonderful recommendations and helped me make selections. This patron was from Germany, and moved to Oregon when she was a little girl, and has been coming to Edelweiss ever since. On my visit, the restaurant was closed, so we wound up getting a bunch of things from the delicatessen. Everything we had was utterly fantastic! Be sure to ask about the frozen rolls and bread that you can take home and bake yourself. They dont appear to be advertised anywhere, but they are definitely worth asking for.The parking lot is extremely tiny, and we wound up parking on the street, but that wasnt too big of an issue.
Sausages, brats, and weiners....oh, my!! So many delicious meats and you HAVE to get the house mustard! Mmmm..... Edelweiss is now one of my favorite places to shop!
Great find. Unique and authentic food. Deli has a nice variety of fresh meats and cheeses. Employees are very pleasant and helpful. Well definitely be stopping back in the next time were in town
Wunderbar! I love the varieties in the store and behind the counter! Such wonderful choices it can be hard to choose! But there is always another day and more choices. The quality is also excellent. I continue to return to the tastiest most pleasant store in town!
Step through the doors into Germany! The meat offerings, made in house or imported, are the finest you will find in Portland: sausages, all the german pork cuts, landjaegers, smoked pork chops, the Best corned beef for reubens, imported cheeses, Kaiser rolls (half baked and shipped from Germany), beers, mustards, wines.... Honestly, just do yourself a favor and go check it out. You will drop more money than you planned (even though I think it is reasonable for the inherent qualityand be all the happier for having done so. People come here from far and wide with coolers to bring the goods home. Go! You will see why!
I love the environment on Saturday, the store is busting, the smell of the fresh smoked meats, the wonderful things that you just cant find anywhere else. And I love the sweets that my grandmother used to send over for Christmas each year from Germany.
I really like this place so much to try and I would have to say next to Ottos they make the best hot dogs in town. They make things there you wont anywhere else. If you have been to Germany or other parts of Europe youll find products there thatll remind you of home. Love the chocolates you can find there.
Have been shopping here with my family since I was a kid. I used to love going and talking with all the German ladies who worked there. They still have the best selection of German breads and wurst in the area but the service can be really hit and miss and the staff doesnt always know their products well. The deli counter tends to take forever whether they are busy or not. You can stand there for ages sometimes even when its almost empty and there are several employees standing around without anyone offering to help. 4-5 stars for the inventory and helpful staff members, 3 for the spotty service.
Wonderful European deli, candy treats, pastries and much more, including beer. It’s like a stop in another country. Old world feel to the service.
Stay away from this people and place. They are masks freaks. Wanted to eat there, there were 3 people yelling at us to mask up. Went across the street. No mask problem there.
The best German Metzgerei in the city. They have a HUGE selection of liverwurst and sausages and smoked meat, and they carry the best sauerkraut brands. They even sell German bodywashes and shampoo, and then there are the cheeses, chocolates and mustards. It is super fun around Christmas when they carry all these seasonal European things you cant find anywhere else.
Cute little “hole in the wall” store and deli. Would not have known how good it was if I hadn’t seen it on a cooking show before I moved here. The Reuben was absolutely delicious.
My roots are from Germany. Its a piece of home in Portland. There is no bad choices. Everything is excellent on a consistent basis. Try the Nuremberg sausages. Next time its the smoked pork chops for me.
It’s a five star German deli but, be patient. The service is so consistently slow that I avoid buying everything that I want because I run out of time, or lose patience. I’ll keep coming back - of course. This market is world class. But once you get good - you have to get fast. Or faster.
This place is outstanding! Has all types of European style meats. Smoked sausages salami and much more! And the German style loaf bread is old world and is the very best.....
1. Staffs have no idea what’s German products are.2. Staffs don’t know what’s Edelweiss and the Bear symbol.3. Overprice products 200-550% from the original . Seriously…… ??? I know they are imported but isn’t it very ridiculous?4. They products are easy to find at any supermarket (snacks)5. Staffs are RUDE!!!!! Many comments agree the same and no changes at all !! So we need to blame the Owner!!!6. Beer is acceptable price :)I don’t recommendFrom Swiss Girl <3
Wonderful local german deli! Delicious and extensive meat selection, I loved everything I tried. They also have a large selection of European snacks which looks interesting. Staff were very polite.
I alway love going here for all the different great cheeses that they offer. The service is always nice and they are able to answer different questions you might have about all the products they have in their display case. I would recommend this place if you are looking for great cheese and meats.
Best store in town for specialty food. One bad experience...yesterday as June 1st i was there and got some liverwurst. They had only 2 pieces in the golden casing. The ,, pate "" was spoiled. 2 lb thrown in the garbage. So if u like liverwurst or pate like me, ask for taste bite before buying it. Otherwise all good
That is enough meat for any picky tasty person. I love this Market
Fun little shop. They have a nice selection, theres a pamphlet available of the different meats, cheeses, breads, desserts, and sides. There is a breakfast/lunch, souvenirs, and grocery section. Helpful associates. I ordered a Reuben for lunch, good sized sandwich it was pretty tasty. Also purchased salami which seemed to be very traditional, a little gamey though. A beautiful, flavorful pork roast that was just cooked. And smoked beef along with a pretzel which were excellent. There are a few small parking spaces in front but there is more parking in the residential area.Below is a photo of half my sandwich. My cat approves.
Absolutely the best in town. Great for lunch and they have many treats that you wont find anywhere else in Portland. Plus Franziskaner on tap!
Amazing selection of German and European delicacies. Often crowded and busy, but the service is fast, knowledgeable, and super friendly. Be sure and check out the hot sandwiches and beer selection! ProTip: Take a number as soon as you walk in the door!
This place is great! I mostly go for the deli sandwiches, but the little grocery and beer/wine selections are wonderful. If you havent been, treat yourself and go.
This place is amazing! I really dont know what else to say but if you are looking for a authentic German Sausage, traditional German meat or just a great sandwich this is the place to go. I went with the schnitzel sandwich for lunch, I figured that is a great traditional dish turned into a sandwich to test the waters and it proved to be great. I definitely will be going back to try an assortment of sandwiches and traditional meats. I can not wait for summers first BBQ/ cookout because I know where I am going for the links, sides and may a few other items.I came back, this time for the Ruben and baked potato salad. Hands down the best Ruben I have ever eaten, I guarantee it is the best Ruben in Portland and that is saying a lot for this place, considering the emmence foodie culture here.
Great deli with loads of different meat options. Doubles as a restaurant for lunch with typical but well executed German fare. Very extensive German beer selection with many very hard to find options (in the statesthat I haven’t seen anywhere else outside of Germany. Nice selection of different European pastries, chocolates, and other sweets. Around holidays they will smoke and slow cook a turkey that you provide, it is honestly one of the best turkeys I’ve ever had, could not recommend that service enough.
Awesome german dish ingredients that youll be hard pressed to find anywhere else and if you make it before they close down their cooking section, you find some of the best german food in town. Best brats in a while!
This is an outstanding German deli. The cat however was a guest that was quickly escorted out >.<. lol The staff here are super friendly and encourage you to taste whatever they have to offer. While it is a German deli they also offer other items from Europe. The deli includes any specialty you can think of that originates in Germany. They have a tiny cafe in the store that sells delicious Rubens and have 3 beers on tap. I normally get a small dunkel while shopping. Dont forget to get your number when you walk in, this place is that busy because their customer service is so outstanding. They also smoke turkeys, it was 1.50 a pound last I checked and they smoked our bird for turkeyday. Fargin fantastic! I cant say enough about this place, just go check it out, get a number a beer and be patient. In the deli for purchase : Cheese, Bread ,Meat galore.
My dad asked me to swing by and grab some German potato sausage. This was right before Christmas and it was customers shoulder to shoulder. At first I was concerned about getting to the deli counter to get my order in. They had a good system and a stocky helped me figure out what to do. Another friendly customer tipped me off that I could ask for samples. I tried a blood sausage which was delicious but I didn’t end up buying it. This small shop lived up to its reputation in more ways than one. Overall a great experience and will shop here again.
A couple of times a year we take a trip to visit this wonderful store. If you like European cuisine you will love shopping here. They have a great range of fantastic meats, cheeses, butter and beer from around Europe.
