Econo Lodge - in Ironwood, United States
Older building. Warm (first seasons freeze alert). Newer laminate floors. New paint job. Updated bathroom. Modern framed photography. Has desk, microwave & mini- fridge. Old and worn bedding.
Room smelled like mildew. Dead mouse stuck in the outside door. Biggest complaint is that they knocked on my door at 8:20AM for housekeeping. I did have the door hanger asking for privacy on the door. Maybe start with the rooms that have already checked out? Door locks were also broken on the inside of the room.
Rooms weren’t bad. Parking not great. A smoke alarm was beeping all night, there was a couple dirty towels in the room on the back of the bathroom door but overall pleased with the room for the rate.
This was a good hotel for the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. The building could definitely use some updates as the key card readers on the outside doors were unpredictable. The ice machine upstairs wasnt working. As mentioned no elevator. But for a quick weekend getaway it was a great value and close to everything we wanted to see and do in Ironwood. The bagged breakfast were actually pretty decent and both guys working the front desk were very nice.
My partner and I stayed 2 nights to visit the Porkies. The room was clean. Looks like it had been recently updated(at least within the past couple years). The mini fridge kept my food nice and cold. I interacted with a total of 3 different front desk people and every one was very nice and helpful. Free breakfast in the morning, it is served in bags from the front desk, covid safety measures im assuming. The only downside to this hotel is it is quite large with no elevators, so packing in and out is a bit of a workout, but for the price, you just cant beat it. Next time I mosey my way up north, I might just have to stay here again!
Definitely not our best hotel experience. When we went to the rooms we were assigned, one of the rooms still had all the linens from the previous guests piled on the chairs, the floor had food garbage on it and the beds were not made. Brought this to the attention of the gentleman at the front desk and he reassigned us to another room that only had one bed, we needed a room with 2 beds. We went out to grab some food and came back to find that our key cards no longer worked and there were other guests that had been given our room, we had to move to another room on the 2nd floor. This room at least was cleaned and had 2 beds, both with fresh sheets. They did give us a good discount for our troubles, but still very frustrating. As for the hotel itself, it is old and not well maintained, and grungy. Floor tiles are sticky as if not cleaned well, no bathroom fans, air conditioning that was difficult to regulate, and very old, barely functioning microwaves. The price was fair for decent hotel, but definitely overpriced for what it was. I guess you get what you pay for. Not likely to stay here again.
Stayed here after online booking with no refund (big mistake). Upon arrival I was informed there is no elevators. Having a baby and tons of things for said baby made it really inconvenient for us to haul it all up the very tiny stair wells. Tv remote would not work to change channels, it was on the spectrum menu channel, there are no buttons on the tv box what so ever. We called from our cell phone to the front desk because you couldn’t figure how to dial to the front desk, there was no instructions for that just a basic phone. We were told maintenance was in the building and they would come fix it. They never came to fix it. We were waiting and just decided to go to sleep. The AC was incredibly loud. The bathroom needs updating. Also only 2 doors work with key entry so if you’re all the way at the end you have to go back to the middle or front of hotel to get back in. Only plus is the price of the hotel but you get what you pay for.
The outside is a little lacking but the rooms have been redone. The floors are nice vinyl instead of carpet. However, our 2nd floor room could only be reached via stairs. Our door is not hung right and has to be slammed almost to shut. No hook for the security chain. Only 1 light works in bath and the heat lamp that should run for 25 minutes runs for less than 25 seconds. The desk lamp has the wrong sized bulb in it so the hood cant be used properly and the one outlet looks like scorch marks but on closer inspection has paint on it.
First of all when I called to book this room I was told there was a pool. Upon check in I was told there isnt, never was. Second, there was no advertising that there wasnt an elevator. Traveling with children and they put me on the 2nd floor completely away from exits. Very very upset. The room is definitely dated and the bathroom is horrible. Would NOT recommend.
I live in Bessemer MI. Furnace was being repaired over the weekend. It was in the 20s outside so I decided to get a hotel room on Friday April 15th. in town. In the midst of checking me in the woman at the front desk upon reading my ID would NOT give me a room because I am a "local." Vacancy was not an issue, and she would not give me a legitimate reason for not allowing me to check in other then being a "local." Extremely discriminatory and Im pretty confident her actions arent even legal.
A friend and I came here while I was traveling from Minnesota. Place was very loud in the hallways! Teenagers running down the halls and coming in and out constantly! The card reader on door number four barely worked! Youd be there for couple minutes trying to get in because it wouldnt wanna read the card! There was electrical wires all over the establishment just hanging. The room itself was ok. TV was extremely small! Beds werent comfy. Walls were super thin! I didnt decide to stay for breakfast so I cant comment on that. It was great that they allowed dogs! Personally I wouldnt recommend this place and I also wouldnt come back here!
Noisy hotel staff in the hallways, snowmobiles making noises all night, and the internet barely works. This visit was to manage the funeral arrangements for my father and this is how I was treated:When I checked in on 2/23/22 I told the man at the desk that I had two separate reservations. I had planned on coming up on 2/24/22 but added a night 2/23/22. I asked him if I could just stay in the same room both nights and he said sure. Never said a word about having to check in and out.The night of 2/24/22 the cleaning guy walked in on me half dressed even though I had the do not disturb tag on the door. He said the room was marked as vacant.I called the front desk to ask what to do and to complain about being walked in on. Then 20 minutes later the man named Mickey from the front desk was pounding on the door and said I needed to check out of this room, check into another room, and pay the pet fee, of which I also had told the guy about my dog the night before. I was never given a receipt and assumed the original card I paid with was charged for my dog.Mickey was rude and confrontational when I tried to explain the situation, even after telling him the reason for my stay was to manage the fact my father passed away on 2/22/22. He needs to learn to be a compassionate human being. I am disgusted by his reaction. I will never stay at this hotel again. Thank you for making a difficult time even worse.
Clean and just what we needed for the night. Surprisingly updated. The front desk service was fabulous-she was VERY busy and so patient with me. 🙄 (Yes, it was me and not the key cards fault, that we couldnt get rm access. We were inserting the cards upside-down. 🙃)Just 1 negative is that the presentation of the room was somewhat messy. Towels, every which way & the puffy bed had sunken areas; both should have been perfect.
