Quaint zoo since 1974 with exotic & native animals, guided tours, a restaurant & souvenir shop.
A few years back I went to visit this place and I really enjoy those beautiful wildlife.
Beautiful views during your walk through the zoo. Many steps
Beautiful and knowledgeable place.
I was very much looking forward to the visit as the name is "eco" zoo. I expected this place to be better than a normal zoo. I expected local animals that are helped here and return to nature after a while. I felt very sad when I saw the animals. The cages were far too small for size and amount of animals. Especially the tiger was stressed. I felt very guilty to be at this place and left the zoo with a very bad feeling. The animals definetly need better living conditions.
Good place to bring the young ones to look at a load of wild life from around the South American continent. But be warned that as it is in a mountainous region, that there is a lot of ups and downs between enclosures so wear a decent pair of shoes, preferably of the walking variety!

Nice things to sew
This is a terrible zoo with distressed animals, poor enclosures and lack of health and safety. The animals do not have enough space and are kept in very basic housing that does not replicate their natural habitat. The white tigers are kept behind concrete walls with a caged ceiling for visitors to drop litter into their enclosure and the only windows they have are constantly filled with people peering in. Between pacing back and forth panting, one of the tigers did a running jump at the window. People found this funny but the animal is quite clearly distressed and sick of being watched with nowhere in the enclosure to go and hide.In some cases the animals were separated from visitors only by a fence that was low enough for children to reach over - the poor tapirs had their backs to the wall of their tiny habitat obviously not wanting to come anywhere near the people. I saw a girl put her hand through a cage and touch a spider monkey. No staff were around anywhere in the zoo to oversee such instances and ensure the animals were kept at a safe distance from people. There was an injured Toucan hopping around on the floor of his cage with an injured leg. None of the birds had enough space to fly.It makes me so angry that people have rated this place a even a 3 star zoo when the animals are quite clearly being mistreated and are terribly unhappy.Besides from the animal cruelty going on here it is an extremely poorly laid out zoo with many dead ends so youre repeatedly walking back on yourself. There is not enough path space for visitors to walk through without pushing into each other and due to all the steps/rocky paths/slippery surfaces this zoo would not be suitable for prams, wheelchairs, elderly or anyone with walking difficulties. All this place cares about is making money from tourists. If you love animals. DO NOT GO HERE.
Great jungle experience
Exelent
Such a nice zoo, with local endangered animals being given the best possible environment for them given the circumstances. The animals are very friendly and show no signs of distress at all as they are in a very close to natural habitat. Well well worth the money, it seems never ending for such a small area
Un lugar muy agradable . Cob una variedad de animales
Awesome, never imagine there was so many animals in there
Small zoo. Mainly birds. Lots of stairs so it is decent workout. Few animals are in distress but that is same in all small zoos. Nice views.
ok
Nice animals
Super
I love the tapirs!
I liked it more than Guayllabambas zoo but animals need more protection against uneducated people who throw litter just to see the animals move.
The facilities are too small for some of the animals and birds, especially the eagles, condors, bears and large cats. It was sad to see the condor walking in circles in a small enclosure. Also very sad to see a big tiger and bear pacing back and forth in small enclosures. These animals need more space. Some visitors were banging on the glass of animal enclosures, throwing garbage into the animal enclosures and trying to feed the animals, and there were no staff anywhere stopping this behaviour. The only staff we saw were collecting fees at the entrance.
Its amazing to see the animals they rescue, the only downside is most animals just sit and do nothing all day.
Nice
This was an extremely distressing place in. 1989. The panther was sick, the cell was covered in diarrorea and vomit . The animal couldnt even be bothered escaping; quite an easy thing to do, considering the huge hole in the fence with only a few small ,thin wires holding it together (see pic)The cage for the Condor was so small, it could not even open its wings properly.
