R. da Madalena 62/64, 1100-404 Lisboa, Portugal, Lisbon
Cozy spot offering Portuguese-fusion tapas with international flavors, plus wine pairings.
Service was great. Loved the port degustation. The chocolate dessert was absolutely incredible, a must if you decide to eat there. Chef stopped by to ask about my experience at the end of the meal, I appreciate the attention. Good place to eat!
Delicious food, outstanding wine (their own winery), and the best service I’ve experienced in portugal. Definitely the perfect place to stop on your way to alfama!
Worst place I ever had dinner in Lisbon. The concept is not clear and the attendance is really bad. Pretentious and expensives dishes that doesnt worthy the taste. It was the first time I didnt leave a tip. Really really disappointed.
Pretty awful. Artichokes bland and unappealing. Fish tacos are a no go. Appear to be in Old El Paso shells you can buy at grocery store with tons of mayo. Selection of black pig meats very underwhelming.Only good part was the overpriced bread - I ordered a basket but conveniently got served a different (and more expensivebread with cheese offering. Olives poor. Very unfortunate choice for me in a city with such great food options. Stuck with a very expensive bill for food we didn’t eat.
Had a really nice lunch here. Not really classic tapas. Some of the dishes are quite large and some took quite a while to come out. But everything was really tasty, good service and good value for money considering the location. The prawns on cous cous were superb!
Food was good. But I had to wait half an hour for some tacos. While waiting their asking you if you want something in between to kill waiting time. But 14€ are definitely overpriced for 3 tacos.
The wine selection was good and the tapas were tasty. If you are out for a late afternoon stroll, consider stopping by.
Everything we had here was phenomenal. Highly recommend asking for their recommendations because wow! Everything was amazing! From the service to the food and wine, it was unreal. Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Lisbon!!!
Food was ok but not great. Boar didn’t really work and portion of meat was small, the ham was average, tuna tartare was good but arrived 20 mins after everything else.
I am surprised this place is highly rated. Their menu seems to have shrunk (no sushi as apparently their sushi staff left). And what is on it is quite poorly made (octopus salad inedibly hard and chewy), tuna ceviche strange taste and constitution, quite possibly made with not so fresh tuna.
Outrageously expensive menu, with different prices online and in print. Possibly because there is a discount from fork website that they adjust the price, and we were not aware of.Caprese salad for 14 euros compared to 8 online. Meat for 2 is 36 euros compared to 30. Portions are not worth the price at all. The price on google states it is 2 out of 4, but I would say it is more like 3 or 4.
What an amazing food adventure! Get ready to eat the most delicious food presented in such an interesting way! The chef is an absolute artist and everything was a foodie adventure! You will want to eat everything on the menu!
We had dinner - ordered four dishes and asked for a wine recommendation. The quality of the food was incredible (eg the tiny cherry tomatoes that came as a garnish were like sweets!), the wine recommendation was delicious, and the staff was attentive and made our evening really special.I especially recommend anything with ricotta! :)
We stumbled across this place by accident and were so happy that we did!! The food is absolutely outstanding and service is the best we have had in Lisbon. Diego (the ownermade us feel really welmconr- we will definitely be back!
Had a very similar experience to another review on here. Our waitress brought out the wrong order.., then just glared at us silently as we told her what we were supposed to have. She was very unprofessional and disappeared to hide behind the counter at the back of the restaurant for the entirety of our stay. Forty plus minutes later and after the rest of us had eaten, they finally brought out the final dish. Overall the food was good albeit overpriced for what you get. You also get nailed on the price of water. €2.90 for a tiny bottle. All other restaurants in the area charge half that price and you receive a full litre. Again, the food was good but the staff ruined the experience. The owner or manager was there as well during all of this. He never came over, never said a word and glared at us as we exited the restaurant.
We ordered a few things and nothing was very good. We ordered a veal hot plate for 2 complete and everything that came with was over cooked. The sausage, the shrimp, etc. They total forgot our tuna tower until we asked them. We asked for water three times before they brought it. What made it worse is that there is no fan or AC inside the restaurant and it was so hot
Great variety of tapas. Liked the tomato/cheese dish. Loved the codfish with sweet potato. Tacos came highly recommended but were underwhelming … too much Mayo and smaller pieces of fish than they used to serve. Lava cake was just ok.
Incredible. The umami dessert is mind-blowing, the taste of port was magnificent, meat grill a whole new experience as well as the salmon tartar and palmito dish. Highly recommended.
100% recommend this restaurant. Excellent food, exquisitely presented. Delicious port wine and helpful and knowledgeable waiters. This is up there with our favourite restaurants in Portugal, and the bar is pretty high! The salmon and avocado ceviche is incredible! You will not be disappointed!!
Wow what an amazing restaurant. Great food and excellent wine. The iron plate tuna was so juicy and flavorful, best tuna I’ve ever had in my life!
Decent food, affordable prices. Friendly staff.
5 stars for food at the price, not 5-star ambiance. Get the bream (fish)--its amazing. Start with the prosciutto--also amazing. And the bar next door is quirky in a good way. A one-stop shop for a nice night out.
The food is good and you can share it with your freinds. They make their own wine and olive oil which is very good. (You can buy it there). Good price to quality ratio, great place to eat small and big quantities as all the dishes are reasonably sized so you can order as many as you need!
Food and service were mediocre at best. Argula and tomato salad was excellent. The octopus was tough. The tuna tartar was incredibly salty. I do not recommend this place.
Me and my partner had just arrived in Lisbon and needed somewhere to eat and had seen the reviews they did not lie. The waiter was amazing and his English was great he recommended we try 3 dishes, and we both did the 3 wine taster for an unbelievable price €9 for 3 extra large servings. Was 100% a great visit and a must go to when in Lisbon.
Wow! Absolutely excellent dinner. While we were there, the staff greeted some other patrons with "hello again" and Im not surprised. The premium trio of wines was superb and the tuna tower was absolutely unbelievable! Highly recommended.
Wow! This surprising find was delightful! The service was kind and uplifting, making it an enjoyable experience. The cocktail was creative and perfect. But the food! Oh my WOW! Incredibly delicious tuna ceviche was layered with interesting spices, capers, and I got some delicious whole grain bread to put it on. Amazing! And while it was not cheap, I needn’t have worried that it would not be enough for a dinner, as I could not eat it all and took a quarter of it home with me (and ordered extra of that incredible bread to go). I would return for any of these reasons alone, but all together, it is now a top place in my Lisbon book.
Last Saturday and Sunday we visited Eating Bear. On both occasions we had a fantastic evening. The staff did an excellent job in providing us twice an evening to remember. Fantastic food, Salmon with avocado, Tuna tartar, Apple crumble are some of the fantastic dishes they serve. And they do a great job in providing a very nice wine assortment to match the various plates. So if you are in Lisbon dont miss out and take a trip to Eating Bear.
Excellent, diverse range of tapas-style dishes. The warm figs with prosciutto and mozzarella was particularly good. Not the cheapest in Lisbon, but the quality of food and the relaxed atmosphere makes it well worth a visit.
The best Ive eaten in a long time (and I eat a lot ;)We had the seafood tacos and they were out of this world 🤤🤤🤤 creamy, spicy tuna tartare... I had a foodgasm. The rosemary steak with the variations of smoked sausages completed the perfect dinner. The staff was also super friendly, the dinner was worth every cent. Thank you Eating Bear.
The best Portuguese restaurant in Lisbon!! Amazing atmosphere, food and staff
Not the best food, but the best sales pitch. The owner pitched us hard outside on his delicious food and wine. The "famous" tuna tower arrived with 2 pieces of overcooked tuna, layered on some warm sweet potatoes, some cold sweet potatoes, and some uncooked sweet potatoes, although well seasoned overall. The wine is all made by the owner and the red, at least, was nothing special. Glad we decided to grab something small and go elsewhere afterwards.Friendly servers and fast service. Warning: tourists abound.Have opinions; Will Share.
I had a wine pairing which was inexpensive at nine euro for three glasses of very good wine. Also enjoyed the arugula salad and an amazing piece of vegetable lasagna that was well crafted and delicious. The place is modern cleaners would love to enjoy more of their food.
Delicious, fresh, great service and good value.Only caveat is that, as a single guest, I was recommended two plates and the portions are HUGE. It was far too much for me but great if youre sharing
Lovely little restaurant with great food and warm vibe. Food was fresh, delicious and great for sharing. Great wine pairing. Service was very attentive and friendly.
Loved this restaurant... quality from start to finish. Fantastic food and the most lovely, friendly and efficient staff. Excellent value.Lots of quality food on offer so go and enjoy... Absolutely recommended.
I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and had a very special experience!! The food was amazing and we also had the wine pairings! The owner of the restaurant made sure we were very happy with everything, told us a bit about the wines (the restaurant has its own wine), and I even had a birthday cake!!It was excellent from start to finish! Really recommend this place to everyone
The food was very good (we had fish-based dishes), albeit with an excessive use of onion and garlic. The tuna tower (in the pictureis the speciality of the place, and while its very good, the coriander sauce covers the tuna and makes it taste kind of like meat. The sweet potatoes with ricotta and salmon are a 10/10, very much recommend getting that. Now to the wine. We asked for white sangria and it was made for us on the spot. It had a little amount of fruit and it was obviously tasteless because they didnt let it sit. The Porto wine we got suggested for to be paired with the desserts was very good but very expensive, so watch out for that. The 2 star rating is 2.5 really, and it is because of the service (not at the level of the food, I got Porto wine spilled on myselfand the TheFork discount, which is only applied to the food. While it is specified on the app, its very much unclear (its a small text section that you need to click to open).Edit: forgot to add the music choice was very questionable
We spent one week in Lisboa and around and this one was the winner ! How delicious was the food !! Wine pairing was well prepared and adjusted to food (French speakingand the Peruvian accompanying me liked the Ceviche.Definitely a must-go while visiting Lisboa !!
I was so satisfied with foods here. The staffs welcomed me so warmly, friendly, good at English and was patient to introduce foods for me. Finally I selected octopus salad and tuna with sweet potato. Perfect concept and the price was affordable too.
Do you like amazing food, delicious wine, and fantastic service? If you say no then you shouldnt be in Lisbon... but if youre a normal person then look no further for a dinner experience that will leave your pants too tight but your heart happy :we stumbled across Eating Bear while looking for places near our Airbnb and WOW am I glad we did. Our waiters were attentive and knowledgeable and I cant wait to come back again to try more of their food. It was a bit warm inside when we sat down, but once the doors and windows were opened it was perfect. 15/10 stars. I will definitely be going back again soon!
We ended up eating dinner here twice during our stay in Lisbon because we were so impressed after the first time we went. The owner/waiter was fantastic and made it feel like more of a dining/food experience rather than just a standard dinner at a regular tapas/wine bar. They have a very reasonably priced wine pairing option which we took on both occasions (9€ for 3 glasses or 12.5€ for 4 from memory). Once you order which dishes you would like, the waiter suggests the wines to pair with each and sometimes will bring around a couple to taste with each dish to see which we like the most. This was honestly one of the best dining experiences I have ever done. The setting was rather casual and the waiter was able to make suggestions to twist some of the menu items to be more to our liking which we really enjoyed.Go here with an open mind and feel free to ask the waiter for suggeations either for food or drinks - you wont be disappointed. The staff were also all very friendly and happy to have a chat, we never felt rushed which is a contrast to many other restaurants who dont always make time to talk to their customers. We would have come for a 3rd time if we were staying for longer!
Really cool and modern spot, centrally located, trendy interior and good wine selection.I recommend the lunch menu. The cod fish and tiramisu is awesome!
Best tapas in Lisbon! The flavours were out of this world, definitely a must try! We had the salmon ceviche, beef carpaccio and lamb chops, all were perfect! Ambiance is nice too, and location is super accessible. We tried it because it was across from our airbnb. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Lisbon!
We really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. We had a cheese platter that was really nice. Then we shared a meat fondue, a nice experience since the grill was on our table. In terms on quantity there wasn’t that much meat, but it was worth it!
This was a lovely experience. The waiters went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The food was really tasty, the price point good, and the wine pairing was super affordable. The chef even came out and chatted with us during our meal, which was a really nice addition. There was a real sense of care here that we werent expecting, but if we had more time in Lisbon wed definitely go back!
Great service. Lunch special was great price. Less than 10 euro for each person including veal steak (very delicious with strong rosemary(I thinkscent and the meat sauce was amazing), bread, olives, drinks, potatoes (with two different sauceand salad And a drink.
I consider myself quite lucky to have stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The lunch special here is great. Inexpensive and wonderful food.
Great choice for lunch and wine tasting!Good location (nearby some very iconic places and easily reachable by metro, tram, bus).Skilled chef! Good service! Perfect advise on portugese wines!
This was one of the best meals in a restaurant since quite some time. The service is excellent as is the food. You have a choice of excellent wines or spirits that perfectly match the food. Portions are not huge but big enough. The taste of the food is simply delicious. We expected good food, but it was excellent. I will definitely come back and can recommend the place. You dont even need to reserve a place. Price is absolutely appropriate as well (not cheap, but totally OK for what you get).
