Eastern Egret Restaurant - Chinese restaurant in Paraparaumu, New Zealand
Good Asian fare. Good serving sizes. Arrived in a reasonable time. Pleasant service
Food came quickly and flavours were authentic. Customer Service was excellent also
The food is so good but it is such a shame everyone is so grumpy there. I was told 20 minutes for a takeaway on the phone which eventually took 45 minutes. I would have happily waited 45 if told that is how long it would be. No apology, barely an upward glance when served, certainly not a smile, courteous greeting or farewell. As I say, shame as the food is really good but maybe try not to make the customer feel like they are bothering you.4 stars for food, 2 for service, hence the 3 overall.
Great attentive service, great food, very confused about some of these reviews. Had nothing but kind staff and fast turn around of good food.
Absolutely amazing experience such kind staff always checking if everything is perfect couldnt ask for better service and the food is incredible 10/10 coming again
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We had a fabulous night here. Highly recommend.
Had our work mid-xmas due here, Great food & Great Staff
Always love Eastern Egret!!!! Waikanae, Kapiti Coast. Quick & easy service...
Honestly amazing!I used to come here when I was a local, and I loved it then. I was worried I was hyping it up in my head after not being for so long, but the hype was real. The food is delicious and tastes how I remember. It is the best lemon chicken I have ever had. Nothing can beat it!Service was quick and attentive too.Ill definitely come back soon!
Had some awesome Pork and seasonal vegetables dish and it was lovely. Thanks 👍 Staff are really friendly and organised too.
The service we received at the eastern egret was outstanding. Our meals came out in good time and were delicious.
Mothers day, super busy night for a takeaway store, 20 min wait we were told over the phone when we ordered at 5.50pm. There are customers in the store whove waited an hour, Im at 45 mins, we were all just told that they have stopped cooking for the restaurant to accommodate our phone orders, which as a customer is not what you want to hear when youve waited this long🤦♀️ things have got to be better with this system and the processes involved and being honest with wait times would go a.long way, this really only started happening when customers were advising new orders of the wait time. Total wait time was an 1h5m for me after ordering, FOH staff doing their best, Meal was discounted as a result. Food was great.
Awesome food and service...took 11 people there tonight and couldnt fault it...Would certainly recommend this restaurant.
Awesome food. Beef with spring onion and ginger especially delicious. Always get a great welcome and service from all the staff
Takeaways; "No peas" in fried rice meant no veg at all. Spring rolls were soft and gluggy. Wontons were good and sweet&sour pork was too (though a lot of onion). Slow desk service but may be short staffed.
Great food and great service. Sharon and her team made us very welcome
Very nice meal, too big to have a main each, 7 of us, 4 mains, 2 rice dishes and sharing plate as entree was heaps
Made to wait nearly an hour then get told my order was given to someone else, asked for my money back and told I could have a partial refund due to the time I waited, get my order which was missing a dish so the money was for the missing food that was not replaced and the food I got was freezing.
Had a great meal here. Seafood entree, sizzling steak and spicy squid with vegetable fried rice. Sounds different eh? But trust me it was all very nice. We’ll worth a visit when your in Waikanae.
So I had an impromptu birthday early birthday dinner with twin, & came here. The portions were big, plenty of flavour , presented nicely, but its easy to over order, dinner & 1 beer each was $160.I would eat here again.
Come and support local business in these tough times, Thank you for a totally stunning meal, The happiness platter is just gorgeous. Flavoursum, fresh, fragrant. Awesum friendly staff. Will definately return soon
Hi the food was absolutely delicious & plenty on every plate, very lovely restaurant & atmosphere, awesome thank you we all 5 of us enjoyed it 👍👌
Fabulous meal last night, great food, great service. Have been coming here for years and its always good 😊
The food was awesome an delicious as!mean as vibe great service top notch!! recommend to everyone.even has a takeaway store so winning in every way.Try it wont be disappointed.happy full as satisfied to the fullest 😊😊😊😊😊
Fantastic food. Cant go past the crumbed prawns and spring rolls for entree. Love the freshness of the spring rolls especially.Favourite for mains are the lemon chicken and the beef with spring onion and ginger.Today we tried the sizzling beef, Chicken with spring onions and ginger and garlic fish. Beef and Chicken especially good. Fresh flavours, generous portions. We always have the Yeung Chow rice to accompany, its a mixture of rice, shrimp and BBQ pork. For a really special occasion try ordering a day ahead to get traditional Peking duck - whole shredded duck service with small pancakes and hoisin sauce - yum yum yum!Friendly staff, great service. Recommend it!
Wouldn’t recommend anything in the chicken selection!!! Got the sweat and sour chicken and it was dry and hard to chew, there’s was only a small amount of sauce slightly covering the top layer of chicken the rest was completely untouched! The only things that were half good were the two beef meals, Szechwan beef and beef ginger and spring onion. (Recommend the Szechwanoverall really not satisfied with getting an inedible meal.
Delicious food with great service. Plate of Happiness entree and Melon duck, Orange beef, chicken, cashew and vegetable in noodle basket, every one a winner!
We had a lovely experience at the Eastern Egret tonight, such a wonderful meal and nothing was too much for the staff to handle, they were wonderful and so friendly, and made our meal a real joy, we got the chefs to come out to congratulate them on our gorgeous meals, definitely recommend them as a place to go for a beautiful meal, great service and wonderful ambience, also for you Supergold people, Tuesday and Wednesday are the discount nights. We also saw before we went in on the sideboard, you can get a 3 course takeaway meal for $16.00, a great deal, all in all a great place to go in Waikanae
Have always wanted to go here but due to mixed reviews never did.I can honestly say I was impressed. The food was very taste. The ambience was great. Service was excellent.I’ll be back with the whanau next time.
Food was yum and service was fast and efficient. However when I went to pay the bill there were old glasses and plates on the bar all along the bar looked like the night befores mess so I was reaching over dirty dishes to pay the bill not cool. If they were busy i understand but get more staff on if thats the case because the night I was there they had 7 people and we made up 2 of those 7. Not sure if I would sit in again but I would take out cause food was great...lucky for them 😑
Absolutely superb. Really enjoyed the scallop entree and the chicken cashew nut makes vegetables absolutely fabulous. Very reasonably priced with good wine selection and BYO if you prefer. Can’t wait for my next visit
We have just returned from the best eva chinese meal at Sharons Eastern Egret in waikanae kapiti coast. If you are in the vicinity I highly recommend it. Thanks for you fab food and customer service. See you next year if not before.Warm regardsGill and DonWhangarei
Finally found the good Chinese I have been looking forward. Great fresh food, good range on the menu. Pleasant staff
Thank you Sharron&CoAmple food for a large group. We had a Banquet. The starters were devine. The mains also, with fresh veggies. Distinct flavours from the different dishes that werent overpowering. And enough for all.
Excellent tasting food, superior ingredients, consistently great service. Our family delighted with great take away service.
Went here for takeaways. Bitter, negative "Karen" type lady with a mullet made the experience incredibly unpleasant. The food was average. The young girl serving was lovely, but would not return if I could avoid it.
Friendly servers and waiting staff, but unfortunately the good experience ends there. The food was fairly average, sort of what youd expect from a food court. Lots of fried things coated in sweet sticky sauces. Its a bit like how you remember chinese food in the 1980s.
Will not be going back again. I thought there might be an added something special due to the changeover in ownership and price increases. Thats definitely not the case. The food is nowhere near as good as it was before. Stodgey, oily, chewy, overcooked and the flavors are completely off. Utterly disappointed to say the least.
Hi there all.I ordered the duck, combo rise, sweet&sour pork and chickan aswell as oriental noodles for take out prior Friday (01/05/2020).Now myself and family members have had bad experiences prior to the new management.I am happy to announce the restoration of my satisfaction. The food was hot & fresh like I was eating from home.Customer service was excellent, apsolutly polite and delightful human beings.Myself has had Chinese cuisine takeaway from many locations through out the North Island but WOW!The Eastern egret is by far the most healthiest, stomach friendly and delicious Chinese cuisine I have ever experienced. If I was to give a one out of five star rating...I wouldnt resist putting a checky zero on the end of the 5.Splendid work girls/guys.Dont be fooled by the bad reviews prior to New management. You wont be disappointed 👌.
I have been to the egret from the get go. The food has always been delicious. Tonight once again the food was delicious though when I rang to order takeaway I got told to hold ( then preceded to hear the waitress talking smack to one of the other staff which I find unprofessional. We can hear you 😂
the things we ordered were the orange beef, the honey pork fillet, the chicken with seasonal vegetables and cashews, and the combination fried rice. The honey pork fillet. well, for starters, it wasnt a pork fillet. What we recieved was crumbled pork snitzle (from the looks and taste, commercial crumb at thatwith a honey ish clear slightly gelatinous sauce. The orange beef. The taste was pleasant, not too sweet. However, the meal came out to us mildly warm. Not hot, warm. The Combination rice was nice, but rather sparse. As for the chicken with seasonal vegetables. It seemed to have a sauce that resembled snot. Lumps of collagulaged corn flour. Which was rather off putting for our group of three.however, the young waitressing staff were fantastic.all in all, if youre looking for a mediocre chinese food experience, then by all means come here.if youre looking for really good chinese food, I highly recommend kuen loong on the main highway. Its cheaper and overall a lot better.
Wont bother with this place again. Weve been here 3 times now. Last night we decided to risk it on the off-chance it might have improved. Its supposed to be fine dining but its a fairly ordinary Chinese restaurant. The phone rings and gets answered at the counter/bar and everyone can hear half the conversation. About half the wine list was crossed off. A waitress with a casual attitude leaned over the back of a spare chair to take our orders. I ordered a whiskey and said, "No ice. Just by itself please" From behind the bar she then asked if I wanted water with it. Really? Thats not "by itself". Our meals werent served to us, they were placed on empty space on the table. They young guy serving didnt look very interested, was ill-mannered enough to be wearing a cap inside and not bright enough to wear it the right way around. And if you have food that needs cutting expect to have to ask for a knife.
Beautiful and tasty food. Tasteful surroundings and friendly professional staff. Great for a group night out. Pre-order to save wait time in the restaurant. Well stocked bar as well.
A fantastic place to meet up, tell stories and of course eat some amazingly good food.Staff are very friendly and helpful on understanding what is each menu item.Good range of cuisine to choose from, all made fresh and with a lot of care. A full range of drinks are available with the wine selection particularly good pairing with the meals.Decor makes the place feel exotic, yet homely, ensuring you feel welcome and comfortable.
We attended your restaurant on the 25th of August at approximately 6.30 pm to celebrate our grandparents 80th birthday. The food was tasty. Appetisers and mains came out at appropriate times. Our leftover food was kindly packaged up for us into several different containers and the attendant was polite and friendly when handing over to us.Unfortunately the rest of the service we received was not up to the same standard as the food. The service was blunt and unprofessional. The bartender spoke rudely to several members of our group including our 80 year old grandma when she was paying for the bill. She yelled at other attendants in front of customers. She also complained about customers including us whilst we were still there. I would expect better service from someone who is the face of your restaurant. We also waited an expceptionally long time (45 mins for 3 ice cream sundaes. Half of our party had to leave and we were the last ones left in the restaurant. It was uncomfortable. What was even more uncomfortable is that she received a massage from another team member at the bar in front of us.We understand the pressures of having two large groups at your restaurant. We were more than willing to accomodate unfortunately your staff weren’t. We booked well in advance and gave plenty of notice to prepare. Do not book customers in if you cannot provide quality service.Having worked in similar hospitality backgrounds, we understand that friendliness and helpfulness is the key to giving great customer service. A couple of your staff members are letting your team down. Especially disappointing to see the older staff setting this example.Hopefully this is helpful.
Read a review that described the Eastern Egret as probably the best Chinese restaurant on the North Island so decided to try their $16 Banquet Dinner Box tonight. If this is the best Chinese around I would hate to eat from the worst! Oily congealed egg fried rice and soggy sweet and sour pork that were barely edible. Only bright spot were the vegetables, tasty if a little soggy. Never again!
Ok for a take away - as long as you avoid the stale prawn crackers - but dine in service always seems short staffed. Rice not included so expect to pay extra for already over priced meal Wait staff always friendly and helpful (owner not so muchbut always seem rushed and overworked (again, owner not so much)
Disappointed to pay $22 for a meal which contained frozen vegetables. The cauliflower and broccoli were soft and mushy, clearly not fresh which is unacceptable. Rice not included in price. Wait staff were nice however the maitre d was unpleasant to deal with, as was her behaviour towards the wait staff. First and last visit.
Real average food at extortionate prices. Ive had take away orders twice from here, and both times they have been wrong meals. Be prepared to pay $10 for egg fried rice. True daylight robbery but I guess we have to pay for the maintanence on the owners Porsche!
Service and food was appalling, wine was not chilled as requested and promised, considering this was a birthday celebration with 38 guests it was under staffed and poor service. We were booked for 7, had to ask for the wine to be put out on the tables at 7.30 and then ask for the food at 8.30 pm.At the end of the night we were overcharged for the food and corkage. A dish that had been requested to be in the banquet was not included and no apology for this. Not recommended at all.
