Low-key quarters in a laid-back mountainside lodge with a restaurant/bar, a sauna & a terrace.
Earth Lodge in Chimaltenango
Description
There are not enough words to describe this paradise. The views, the amenities, the food, the drinks are perfect to disconnect from our busy world. Here you will find some balance for your soul in all the perfectly crafted rooms. The treehouse is the most private room in a corner away from everything and everyone. The yoga sessions and the massages will make you feel like new. Do not forget to try their guacamole and chirimol(pico de gallowhile you seat at their outside tables looking at the volcanoes you will not regret it. We certainly will be back.
MoreThank you Earth Lodge! Stayed in the amazing treehouse for a few nights. So comfortable and cosy. You wake up to the most amazing view every morning. We ate and drank so well too. Watched the Fuego’s lava show while eating dinner which was a bonus. Loved doing yoga or a workout class in the mornings and relaxing on a hammock for the rest of the day. Try the steam ‘hut’ too, very cool. The staff are warm and friendly. Great atmosphere all round. Really recommend taking a night or 2 away from the more frantic Antigua city.
MoreEarth Lodge is a magical place with stunning views over the volcanoes and antigua. Perfect place to rest and do some nice hiking and yoga. I travelled solo and it was an amazing break from all the hostels, the staff is very nice and helpful. The ambient is magical and the food is delicious. I would come back anytime, alone or with friends, family or partner, I think it is made for everyone.
MoreI just came to the restaurant and the property is beautiful. Well maintained with a gorgeous view. We ate wings and burgers and it was delicious. The service was amazing and i cannot wait to return to spend more time here.
MoreI didn’t stay at the lodge, but did go for lunch and spent a few hours on the grounds. A little hike downhill getting to the lodge, but the views are breath taking. The food and drinks are good, live music was nice and the staff were so kind. A nice chill place to relax and enjoy nature at its finest. Just make sure you eat light, the hike uphill leaving the lodge is a little tough. Definitely worth the visit.
MoreWe stayed 24h hours in this amazing place. Such a great location to rest and recharge. We would have loved to stay longer. The rooms are in the middle of the avocado farms, all very private. The view is amazing and the environment is calm. You can hear the birds and the nature around you at night. The food is delicious - we tried many dishes in the menu, all very tasty. They cook with local ingredients - special mention for the home made beer Bread and the avocados. We will be back!!A bit far away from the city so only plan to go there to relax.
MoreWhat a beautiful and relaxing spot! The best views, food and finally time to relax. The sauna is great the massages are awesome and the staff and vibe is so nice and calming. The best escape of busy life. I cant wait to come back. Thank you all!! :::)
MoreI actually changed my travel plans to make sure I stayed at one night here. No regrets. What a super cool and unique place to stay. A great retreat from the city life and a great environment to spend time in.
MoreAmazing stay at this beautiful place, we stayed for six nights just relaxing and taking advantage of the things they offer, yoga in a beautiful studio, sauna, good food and breathtaking views. We stayed in the room called casa aguacate and loved it. Definitely going to come back in the future. Thank you!
MoreI LOVED my stay at the Earth Lodge. Their tree too studio is one of the most beautiful places to practice yoga in the world, in my opinion. The accommodations are very cozy and i enjoyed 3 nights of restful sleep immersed in nature. Their food is great, avocados are incredible and the staff is warm and helpful. I cant wait to return!!
MoreBeautiful views, great avocado food, and just a great place to chill. Its a bir our of the way and a challenge to get to, but its worth the time to relax and enjoy.
MoreMost amazing place ever! Best owners and staff. Return repeatedly and never disappoints. Look forward to future visits.
MoreComfortable, beautiful, great food and wifi. Suzy is the best! The person who responds to the emails, Briana, is really snarky but dont let her put you off because its a really gorgeous place to visit!
MoreBeen coming here since 2012 and always had an amazing time. They constantly maintain the cabanas, added on an amazing yoga studio and have been consistent in quality of service, food and lodging over the years. I have stayed there with my husband, my mom and friends with and without kids - its a place for everyone that likes nature, tranquility and appreciates good quality food. The views from pretty much every cabaña are amazing - down an green valley with 3 volcanos right in front of you. In my opinion the best place to stay outside of Antigua (its only a 10-25min drive from the center)
MoreWe did not stay here, but just up the road. We made the journey down the road for nearly every meal as everything we ate was absolutely delicious! My husband ate the vegan Pepian, and despite being an avid meat eater, said it was absolutely amazing. He even asked how to make it of if the recipe could be shared so I could make it at home! I ate the Pappas Nachos one night, and loaded nachos another. We had inhouse Kombucha, delicious pancakes, and freshly blended smoothies. Their hot chocolate was amazing and their view could not be beat!
Morereally good scenery but you need to walk a lot, uf yo dont have the dtamina i dont recommend it
MoreThe food was average but what gets me is the compulsory service charge, I believe its a ploy so that the owner doesnt need to pay his staff.Nobody asks you if its ok to add, they just add it to the total and dont even say thank you.Response to owner: "you complain about the same thing everywhere" is an outright lie, I have only mentioned it on one other occasion, please look again. If you want to add tips I suggest asking before as some non Americans find it offensive as its a ruthless technique to pressure customers into to paying more. Furthermore, Im talking about paying staff in monetary terms not food and board so yes you should do lots of community work since you have free labour!
MoreBeautiful view! Menu can accommodate different diets like gluten free, vegan, etc... access a not super easy for older people or very young kids, as you need to get down 150m of steep path by foot. Lack of decent toilets during COVID time with only one available...
MoreMy fiancé and I had an amazing stay at Earth Lodge. They took us in after we arrived at 8.30pm at night and helped us organize a room for a few nights. We booked the treehouse which was worth every cent! Waking up to those views was not only the highlight of our stay, it was the highlight of our whole trip to Guatemala. The grounds were absolutely stunning and have incredible views of Volcán de Fuego. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the cafe/lobby area, surrounded by the avocado trees and views of Antigua. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, which certainly made our stay that extra bit special. There’s plenty of things to do at the lodge to keep you occupied. We used the sauna, played some frisbee, basketball and darts. But in all honesty, you could spend your days just looking at the mountains and volcanoes if you wanted. It was a quick 20 minute drive into town which was convenient to grab a coffee or do a bit of shopping. We also enjoyed their contribution to a more sustainable lifestyle as we are both vegan, so thoroughly enjoyed the vegan options on the menu and the eco friendly products they had for sale. We bought the natural bug repellent which we love! Absolutely wonderful stay, we can’t wait to come back!
MoreA must visit in Guatemala. By far one of the most relaxing places I have ever been. It is so beautiful and the food is delicious! Most amazing guacamole!
More- The way down is so not ideal and because it was raining it was even worse. Forget the way down, the way up with luggage is... Bad.- I get the nature concept but mosquitoes swarm the place, I moved a hammock and so many mosquitoes came out of it.- I would very much say a mosquito light is needed as well as a mosquito net for the bedroom. Mosquitoes are a carrier for different diseases, this could be a hazard for some people.- The views were amazing from the restaurant part, the Agua cabin only overlooks to a bunch of trees, pretty, but not amazing.
MoreVery tasty food, and environment is very attractive. Things were kind of close when we were there due to the pandemic, but the food was good. Service was a bit questionable as they do not have wine glasses for our two bottles of wine purchased. Ordered a banana, avocado, peanut butter smoothie that was room temperature that seemed a little bit different. Normally I’ve had them cold. The 50-50 burger is incredible! Highly recommend! Fantastic French fries! The views are really breathtaking and the ride up the mountains provide some perfect views. Thank you for adopting your service during this world pandemic. Highly recommend!
MoreOur stay was just magical! The views are awesome and the breakfast ist delicious. We were very sad to have stayed only one night
MoreHad an absolutely incredible experience at Earth Lodge! The views, the food, the accommodations, the yoga studio and the staff/ownership were truly amazing! Highly recommend checking out Earth Lodge!!!
MoreStayed for a couple of nights in one of their private cabins. Really cool experience. Fantastic place to chill out and enjoy a few beers in the evening. A Group evening meal was included with our stay, really tasty. Their breakfast was also really good. Hopefully get a chance to return one day
MoreEarthlodge is an amazing place, with one of the most amazing views of the Panchoy Valley in which Antigua Guatemala is located... Great food, great staff, and amazing facilities... I definitely recommend it is also a great experience for those who like to hike a little and eat healthy.
MoreCons: the staff were really disappointing. Reception is mostly run by young women and I found at least three of them to be quite rude and standoffish. Sadly Im not the only one in the reviews that has noted this. Kitchen doesnt open til 8 so if you try to access the coffee and tea before then youll give more fuel to the already-rude staff. The coffee is also not free like most hotels/lodges Ive been to even though its just drip coffee served from a giant percolator.Pros: Earth lodge is beautiful and the dorm was perfectly adequate for a night with a plutonic friend. The concept of the place is lovely and the yoga studio was beautiful as well. Dinner was ok (only experienced one nightbut breakfast was great. The owner seemed nice. Met some lovely guests while there. Small selection of board games, medium selection of books. Decent selection of alcohol - I only cared for the red wine so I was happy with my options there. The pros outweigh the cons so despite the rude staff I would definitely go back.
MoreAbsolutely stunning views. I went here with some friends for drinks so not sure how the accommodation is. But the place looks great, its a bit hard to reach but for a stay or a day trip it is absolutely worth it for the view alone. We had some very good live music. The prices are alright considering the view. Lovely place I would recommend it for sure. I really enjoyed the atmosphere
MoreWe loved Earth Lodge! It was an amazing experience. We stayed in the dorms, the beds were quite comfy and the area spacious. The property is beautiful. Lots of places to relax, hang with friends, really do whatever you want. The yoga deck was very nice as well. We really enjoyed the family style meals. We also utilized the sauna while we were there which was a great experience. Cant recommend staying here enough! One piece of feedback I have was the late hour of the kitchen opening. 8 am is quite late; most people are up by that time looking for their coffee / tea. In the majority of places I have stayed coffee / tea is free to guests, available at any time. In the morning there were several people gathered outside waiting for access to the kitchen. 7 am would definitely be a reasonable time to open and at least provide coffee and tea!Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend visiting here.
MoreLiked this place so much I came two days in a row for lunch. Beautiful views, delicious and affordable food, and nice staff. Perfect place to get a bit of work done (or to just relax and enjoy the view!). Worth noting though that the restaurant only serves a la carte food between 8 am and 3 pm.
MoreBeautiful place! Only a short Uber or shuttle ride from Antigua with the most beautiful view of the city and volcanoes. You can even see them erupting! Even though the place has a rustic style everything is comfortable and extremely clean. We were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed mid week so it was lovely and quiet. The perfect place to relax! Delicious food and a beautiful yoga studio are also a bonus! We are recommending it to all travellers we meet heading to Antigua.
MoreVery beautiful place to stay thats a short distance to Antigua. Everyone working there was very accommodating and helpful. The dinners were great and the tree house was outstanding. Highly recommend!
MoreEarth Lodge is amazing! I took a shuttle from downtown Antigua, it’s about a 20 minute ride up the mountain. The car dropped me off at the end of the road and I had to hike down a very steep, and quite beautiful trail to the Lodge. Once I arrived I checked in with reception and ordered some breakfast - a typical Guatemalan breakfast of scrambled eggs, fried plantain, tortillas and black beans. It was AMAZING! I then read for a bit then walked further down the hill and took a comfortable, peaceful nap in a hammock. This place is amazing, although I can’t imagine how on earth I’d get my luggage there if I were to stay overnight. I guess it’s best for backpackers. The avocado trees were beautiful and the grounds well maintained. I had a great time. Best of all they serve my favorite soup! (See pic!would highly recommend a day visit to Earth Lodge during your stay in Antigua.
MoreOne of my favorite spots in Guatemala. I come here everytime I return to guate. Truly breathtaking views and relaxing atmosphere. Who doesnt like having views of 3 volcanoes and a valley down below. Very relaxing experience! Highly recommend! Smoothies are also tasty! 😎
MoreSpectacular place. Ive stayed in Treehouse Encino, Acatenango and in the dorm, all of which are beautiful and great value. The grounds are stunning and lovely to hang around and relax in especially with the dogs and cats laying p - dont be surprised if you get a feline visit in the evening! The food is tremendous, authentic, tasty and healthy (unless if you dont want I to be!!!And last but not least the people are warm and inviting. For me, this is a must for all of the above but also at least for the inimitable view.Thankyou earth lodge team!
MoreA beautiful, family-run, glampy hostel with very, very high-quality food. Friendly to all generations. Prepare yourself for breathtaking view of Antigua surrounded by volcanoes. An experience everyone should have, honestly. Stay in the tree house!
MoreAn amazing place to visit and stay. Great location near to Antigua, with views to die for; there is no better place to sit and watch the nearby Volcan de Fuego erupt with a cold beer from the exceptionally well stocked bar. The food is simply stunning; guacamole will never taste better than that prepared with avocados grown on site. Will certainly be back!
MoreEnded up here after a morning of hiking. What a spectacular place worth friendly people and good food. Also the view in fantastic . Shame we only could stay here for lunch and didnt actually book to sleep here as well.
MoreNice place with good food and drinks. Awesome views and interesting accommodations. Well off the beaten track and requires a 300 meter hike in.
MoreA wonderful experience. We stayed in the treehouse and it was great. The view was unreal! The food was pretty good, and the happy hour drinks were fantastic. Lots of cute cats and dogs that lounge around the public areas. Cool little playground and plenty of hammocks to lay in. Make sure you are able to hike 15 minutes in (downhilland out (uphillwith your luggage.
MoreEverything about our stay here was wonderful! The food is all made from scratch from local sources. They have a handful of dogs that live here are pleasant to play with. They also have a playground area equipped with a tight rope and bean bag toss.
MoreThe most amazing views and sunset, especially if the volcano is erupting. The road is a bit difficult, but its well worth it. Really stunning.
MoreReally cool place, amazing views, awesome sunsets and good vibes! Beware that the kitchen closes at 3pm and there is litterally nothing around to eat unless you pre order that evenings set dinner. Youre not allowed to bring your own food.
MoreEarth Lodge is a lovely place if you a are a foreigner and you want to enjoy a friendly place with good view, accessible prices in nature. The place has an area where they organize various activities, you can check their Facebook page for updates. Good live music in the weekends which make drinking a beer very enjoyable. The staff if very well trained to give you tourist information and very friendly. If you are looking for a silent nature oasis for a couple of nights, you should totally go for it.
MoreI loved my time at Earth Lodge. It was the relaxing break I needed. Lodging is basic, staff is friendly and food is really good. Lots of hammocks and books to read.
MoreAmazing staff! We stayed here at the beginning of our vacation and did not want to leave. We have a 10 and 12yo and they didnt want to leave, even though we were headed to the beach. Disconnected from internet most of the day only to connect in the evening to send pics back home.
MoreAbsolutely amazing views and a super charming selection of rooms (I recommend staying in the tree house!!). Fresh organic produce and a great set of cocktails too! (Maggies magma meltdown was my favourite). Definitely somewhere not to miss!
MoreAmazing place to stay in Guatemala. Very close to Antigua, amazing food and people with great views. Clean facilities great atmosphere. Would definitely come back if I got the chance.
MoreThe ultimate mountaintop getaway with a stunning vista. Super friendly staff, adorable dogs, incredible food and unique, tree house accommodations. The communal dinners are not to be missed!!
MoreMy wife and I stayed for one night in the Casa Encino tree house. The house was fantastic. The private bathroom and private hot shower were outstanding. The view was awesome. The staff was wonderful. We plan to do this every time we return to Antigua. We are 70 years old so this is not just for the youngsters. This is for anyone who likes fun and a little adventure.
