ERIZO MARKETO - Seafood restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico
Everything is excellent, food, drinks, service (could be better actually...🤔)... yet, bar and food service close at 9:30...!!!! Why?....still bugging my mind....
The seafood was so good
Love any and all chef Javier Placencias restaurants!
Really good. Very fresh ingredients.A bit Expensive.Give it a try.
Food is same delicious as before, service could be more attentive what to deliver to whom. My husband was too fast to eat my tacos 🙂 so I left without as his was with meat.
Service was slow and food was no good.
Great service. Their seafood is one of the best in town. Everything is also decently priced.
The place, decor or ambiance probably deserves ☆☆☆☆ but the food eventhough well served & presented, they all have the same very spicy/peppery undertone or flavour. If you are not ok with hot/spicy or highly condimented foods, Erizo is not for you. I returned my shrimp main dish as it was way too spicy/hot to eat. My 2 other guests love their meal. For me, I wont be going back. Not a fan of hot/spicy food. Id recommend instead to go to CEVICHERIA NAIS in Colonia Cacho, similar cousine but much more palatable for mild taste eaters.
Great place...service was good..food was ok..
Great food!!!
Amazing food!!
This review is for the evening of November 9 for dinner that ended at 815pm.The server wouldnt let me leave without leaving extra tip on the card after providing a cash tip and showing him the cash. He went on and tried to re swipe my card 3 times and show which tip Option was avail and made us feel bad that we didnt add extra tip.He should know that tip is an option not mandatory.Horrible service. And wont come back. After we gave him a percentage tip so we can leave the restaurant he shook his head in disbelief.Dont come here. Go elsewhere for better serviceIts too bad because Im starting a new food tour company to bring Americans to TJ and enjoy the wonderful blossoming culinary scene here. This restaurant is not on my long list of places for the world to experience as much as it should be due to service. For the record I’ve been in TJ every week for months creating relationships and visiting awesome restaurants all over TJ. From bakeries to cafes , tacos spots , cervecherias, cervercias, sit down places such as La Espadana ...and everything in between, NON of the restaurants, atleast 100 I’ve visited and documented..treated me like this. Infact service in Mexico is outstanding and impressive with genuine authentic care!Shame on FOH management for allowing this behavior and treatment of customers to happen. One bad seed can ruin it all unfortunately.Check my yelp review too.Food was good. Shrimp on the mains section was a bit rubbery and dry. Tostadas are packed with flavor and fresh fish. Ambiance was good.
Amazing Tacos! Great service and overall great experience!
Very good food
Great seafood with a twist!
Awesome ceviche!!
Great food and service
I love this place.I bring my friends here. The food (seafoodand ambiance is always so great. The service is usually fine but it is definitely an opportunity to make it more consistently great.I love the tacos with inventive ingredients. Today, I tried the broccolini taco for the first time. While, it had broccoli instead of broccolini, I still found it tasty with its mix of shrimp, avocado, and garlic chips. It just worked for me.The cocktails I had tonight, the Janeiro, didnt work for me. Too sweet and not as citrusy as Id expected. But I dont knock the place because I know there would have been something I would have loved on the cocktail menu. This restaurant is one in a collection of restaurants chef-ed in part by Javier Placensia, a local chef célèbre. The food is interesting and experience fantastic.I only wish the menu had a little more variance. That it was a little more risk taking.I love Mexican food but Im not always up for tacos, tostadas, or aguachiles. Sometimes, I want something more substantial. The last time I did order a plato fuerte but it was just grilled veggies and the seafood choice in a sauce. A delicious sauce, but nonetheless not exactly exciting.Recommended.
Amazing combinations of seafood and meat... good wine stock.
A Tijuana staple. Chef Javier Plascencia has created an instant classic honoring Baja ingredients. I highly recommend the Tijuanero! They also carry a basic selection of local award-winning craft beer.
Excellent Seafood!
Fresh, great tasting seafood, we tried the Tuna carnitas, the Tiradito de Jurel, and tried a few of the seafood tacos which were all delicious, service was great.
Great tacos!
I had ceviche blanco, it was delicious. Great service. Valet parking is probably the only choice or drawback, unless you get dropped off.
Looks of good tasting tacos, good spicy sauces, nice mixology
3.5 stars, rounding up. If you didnt know Javier Plascencias name was attached to this restaurant, it would just appear to be an average seafood bistro.Erizo is located in a strip mall, and the layout is comfortable inside, with some TVs (there was a soccer match was on), and modern-looking decor. There were only two beers on tap -- Tecate Light and Indio. I ordered an Indio and was told they were out of it.We ordered the mean green ceviche tostada and it was probably the best thing we had. Good balance of shrimp, mayo, lime, cucumber and heat.My wife ordered the Marinero cocktail, it was ok, but for being priced similar to Mision 19 where it originates, it was strong however lacking the sweetness and the lime was very bitter. We also ordered the octopus taco -- something was off on that one, it had a very pungent unpleasant odor, I couldnt tell if it was from the cheese or the seafood. I did try a few pieces of the octopus and it was cooked well -- very tender, but had a very earthy, dirt flavor by itself. The tostadas on the table were kind of stale. We also ordered the clam chowder. I was impressed with the large amount of clams in it, and they were tender and not rubbery. The soup base itself was a bit thin and on the salty side. It did however have very nice subtle buttery notes, but felt more like a chicken chowder base rather than a clam chowder.Overall I felt like the experience was lacking. We normally go to Tras Horizonte for an elevated seafood taco experience, or Mazateno for excellent casual seafood. I feel like Erizo fell short of both.
Best clam chowder of had in a very long time clams and every bite.
So good! The clam chowder was possibly the best I’ve ever had! Grilled oysters, peppers stuffed with shrimp (Chile’s gueritos capeados), Perron de Cameron enchilado. All very delicious!
Exquisite food. The Taco Tripiado and Carnitas Taco are the GO TO. Great service, Great Cooks and an AMAZING Owner.
Always delicious and great service.
Great seafood with the touch of chef Javier Plascencia the king of Baja Med cuisine
Great food and great service
Great food. Highly recommend el Taco Tijuanero.
The decor is cool and makes out for some nice pictures but the food and service leave so much to desire, specially in a city that has an amazing culinary background. I will leave it up to you to decide. Ordered shrimp tostada that took them 45 mins to make...because the shrimp was not cooked yet (in a seafood 🐟 restaurant, really?).
Food was very bland
Ridiculous¡ Taco Tijuanero, Taco Tripiado, Erizo Shot, oysters, clams, ceviches, pulpo asado and everything else on the menu is well done. Great selection of craft beers and mezcal.
Delicious
Really fresh, good service. If you dont speak Spanish youre in trouble. The review is really three-and-a-half to four stars. Seems to be in a little Restaurant Row, we took a taxi there. Looks like it would be difficult to park
Great place and good seafood. If you like ceviche they have several kinds.
This place is just ok.. its not that good and the service is not that good.. you dont get what you pay for so just be aware. The food kind of taste like its a wanna be fusion with Mexican but missing the great taste. The pictures look good but when you get your food it just dosnt look anything close . There is better restaurants close by with great food.
Good place to eat, not great but decent. Lunch time you may find many regulars there. Not cheap but good service though!
Very good service and a great variety of delicious sea food.
Food is ok. Nice decoration.
Good food
Buenos mariscos Tijuana Style
Fresh seafood
You should try the mezcal with citrus. Will love it
This is one of my top picks in Tijuana, I love the Tostada de Camarones and the Crema de Almeja (best clam chowder on the area). Great service and friendly staff.
I am a pretty big fan of ceviche and loved this restaurant so much I drove back 4 days later to attend their Oaxa-California Fest dinner during the Baja Culinary Culinary Arts Festival. Flat out, this place is amazing. There are so many unique flavors that I have not seen before. It felt like traveling, but going back to places that you know and love, only these guys know them way better than you do, and you leave loving Baja California even more.I have come to the conclusion that these are the best tacos that I have ever had. There is a place in Guadalajara, and another in La Paz, but Erizo blew my mind two visits in a row. First visit was fried soft-shell crab tacos, and tuna chicharron tacos. This is something that I want to have in my bag of tricks; see fresh crabs at the mercado del mar and say, lets make tacos!!I got the sea urchin and quail egg "leche de tigre" shot, and was impressed with how big and fresh the sea urchin was. I liked the presentation of the roe next to the shot glass because you actually got to see how good the local sea urchins are. Mixed cocktail was good and big. Several different local oysters, and I like that the menu changes and there are specials depending on what is fresh and in season. My second trip was like 4 days later. On the opening day of the Baja Culinary Festival Chef Javier Plascencia held the OaxaCalifornia Fest Celebrity Chef tasting menu. There were 8 courses exciting plates like pescadillas de erizo (my new #1 favorite taco everand a tamal de mejillón.If you like seafood, you have to give this place a try.
