EFES TURKISH CUISINE in Halifax

The Turkish rice is the best we have had. All the food is made from scratch and with love and so it tastes so good. The service is great as well.

I ate there for the first time yesterday....I loved the atmosphere, the food was amazing, the service was awesome!

I strongly recommend this place to eat kebab, wraps and baklava. Also beet salad with lamb skewer is my favourite one.

Very friendly staff serving up authentic Turkish food. I went with a Turkish person and they offered to make traditional food that was not on the menu which is cool. Not very many options for vegetarians. The vegetarian platter was delicious but the serving size didn’t reflect the price.

We were looking forward to this as it was recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing experience. multiple items were unavailable from the drink and the food menu to the point of absurdity. To boot, after we altered our orders many times to accommodate, they brought the wrong food and finally messed up our bill. The owner appeared oblivious. Ps. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to negatively review a restaurant.

Orders were incorrect. Wrong food came twice. Many items on menu unavailable, which we discovered after ordering numerous times. Service was slow. Bill was incorrect, needed to be amended twice.

Absolutely incredible food and overall service! I am Turkish myself, and my work collegues and me who were wisiting Halifax for a conference of a week discovered Efes Meze since it was close by to our acommodation, the Dalhousie University Dorms. Each time we went, we loved the taste, the drinks and the service so much. The food, prepared by a real Turkish chef, is absolutely authentic. There is all one could ask for, from small portion mezes for sharing to main plates with meat (defenitely suggest to Yoghurt Kebap, it was delicious). And the owners and servers are just so attentative and kind. Presentation of the dishes was also with a lot of love for detail. Loved the lentil soup too! Finish up eith some Turkish Tea or coffee.

Meat chicken and vegeterian mediterranean and Turkish kitchen served perfectly.

Food was good but overpriced. $110 for two person to have main course + dessert + two drink.

My favourite Turkish spot in the city. Typically get the chicken or mixed grill - both fantastic. The rice, meat, grilled vegetables are all superb.

Absolutely delicious! Im visiting Halifax for the first time and this was my first proper meal after the hell of the airport. Im so glad we came here! I had a falafel wrap with salad and my partner and I shared fries. The fries were the best Ive had in recent memory (crispy, light, perfectly salted), and the falafel and salad had a lovely tang to them. Were only here for the week, but well definitely be back before we leave! Also, our server was super nice!

The mixed kebap platter is a great choice if this is your first time here. There’s also an option to add a yoghurt and tomato base. Owner was very kind and made sure we had a great experience. Thank you!

Take out experience lovely. From the little things to the big things. Little things like a wonderful white rice and the fact that they grill the pita they give you for the kabob. Big things like on point flavors and perfectly cooked kabob.We had grilled haloumi, a falafel wrap, and the halep kabob. All were exceptional.

Wonderful dining experience! Food and service were excellent. Can’t wait to go back again.

I’ve been in Canada for 8 months now as a exchange student. I’ve missed Turkish food so much that saying just “I missed it” wouldn’t be enough describing.I came to Halifax in a school trip all the way from New Brunswick and I went here with my other Turkish student friends while we had free time. Everything we ordered was incredible. The mezes, the soup, the kebab were all great. The sutlac was very good as well. Thank you so much for everything.

A great experience all around! We all immensely enjoy our food every time we’re at Efes. Great food, a cozy atmosphere (we particularly love the chandeliersand friendly servers. Would recommend trying the mutabbel or yogurt kebap and they have awesome dolma (much better than the sour ones you’ll find at fast food spots around town). Go, have fun and eat way too much!

I got really interested in Turkish cuisine after seeing a few Turkish TV series on Netflix, and let me tell you, this restaurant will transport you across the lands to experience the delicious foods of Turkey! Whether youre a meat lover or a vegetarian, there is something for everyone there too. Highly recommended!

It is authentic Turkish restaurant very nice and warm ambience and décor, which make you feel you are in Istanbul. Great place for lunch with coworkers or dinner with friends or family. The menu has great variety of grilled kebabs and wraps in addition to nice selection of wines. This restaurant make you feel warm Turkish Mediterranean hospitality. I went with coworkers there for lunch and we had for a starters: delicious gluten free kiymali, which is warm hummus with spicy minced lamb, shrimp guvech cooked in eggplant tomato sauce, and halloumi grilled slices of Turkish goat cheese. For the main course we had delicious seafood kebab, kofte kebab and yogurt kebab with bottle of nice Villa San Martino Pinot Grigio. The prices are very reasonable for the great quality food. For desert we had Turkish coffee with yammy baklava. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes Mediterranean food. We are planning to come back with the team again and try other items on the menu.

The kofte wrap was decent, but the star was the Turkish coffee. Would be back just for that!

Ive been eating at Efes since it first opened, and Im always looking forward to my next visit. The owners (both originally from Turkeyhave created a relaxed and genial atmosphere in their restaurant, but, as always, its the food that makes all the difference, and Efes never disappoints. A sure sign of a truly excellent restaurant is its consistency from dish to dish and visit to visit, and by that measure, Efes excels. At Efes the very high standard of care the chefs put into their food is evident on every visit. Not once, and Ive eaten there numerous times, has even one dish slipped in quality or taste. Fortunately, my job brings me close by Efes, so its become my go-to place for lunch or supper on days that Im at work. If you havent tried Efes yet, I have no doubt that youll be very pleased when you do.

I have celiac and Efes is one of my favorite places to order from. I just order online from their website and make a note that I have celiac; they’ll make separate rice without noodles (it’s still really good- I ate the normal rice before I was diagnosed and it’s super similar). I placed an order for pickup today and they called me right away to confirm what I can’t eat and make sure they wouldn’t cross-contaminate :)

The best Turkish restaurant in Nova Scotia, always fresh food ,amazing staffs ,great service,ultra hygienic.I would like thanks to Chef Turgay and his wifes Zeliha for this 5 star restaurant! I highly recommend this restaurant people who like to eat delicious kebap,salads,hand made baklava and many other traditional foods.

Incredible food! The flavours were amazing and you could definitely appreciate the freshness in these dishes. We were on vacation when we went here for lunch and we will definitely make a point to stop in again once we are back in Halifax!

We went on a Thursday early evening without reservations. We ordered the Lentil Soup, Falafel and the Lamb Shish Kebab for two of us. It was all delicious! Staff was friendly and warm.

Its not only the service and atmosphere that serve to make this a standout spot, but the food itself is incredible with a wide host of vegetarian options. Taste preferences of all kinds will be stated here with the fantastic grilling at work here. Try the goat cheese, you wont be disappointed.

10 of us went to Efes for super and a birthday celebration last night. We all agreed that the food, service, and atmosphere was world class. This is a restaurant where you felt welcomed. The staff were as excellent as the food. We all agreed that this was one of the best places to eat in Halifax! Thank you all for your kindness to the birthday girl and making it an enjoyable place to spent time!! So very good!!!!!!

Delicious and fantastic food, friendly stuff, also great atmosphere. We ordered 2 different lamb kebabs with rice, it was so delicious! We will definitely come again!

My friend and I both had wraps (chicken and falafelwith a side of fries. Falafel was cripsy and warm and the fries were out of this world!... 12$ and with tax and tip was $15.87. Support local businesses - specially a place like this where the food is fresh and delicious!

I had dinner at this restaurant last night and the service was exceptional, and the food was excellent. The staff and chef were very friendly and accommodating. The value for money was outstanding, in fact, I have eaten here many times and each experience is the same (5 stars). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys traditional Turkish cuisine. I believe that this restaurant is a hidden gem and one of the absolute best restaurants Halifax has to offer. Cannot wait to go back.

Cafe Istanbul used to be one of my favourite haunts when I would come to the HRM years ago. We decided last night, while on a short trip, to have dinner there only to realize it has been taken under new ownership several years ago. I have to say, I believe my beloved little cafe has only gotten better!!We orders the dinner for two which included a mixed plate of appetizers (chefs choice), mixed lamb and chicken kabobs served over rice and a baclava and Turkish tea or coffee for dessert for $65. The food was heaven; absolutely to die for flavour. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Part of the appetizer plate included a sample of a carrot dip. I don’t know what the chef did to make a carrot taste like that but I have a feeling I’m going to be throughly discounted by all other carrot dishes I taste. Nothing will compare to that. Since I have never liked lamb, in spite of trying it many different ways, many different times and at many different places, the owner offered (I didn’t ask), to make me an all chicken option. It was delicious! Even the rice tasted amazing! I will also tell you that after sampling some of my partners lamb, I now LOVE lamb as long as Efes prepares it! My partner follows a keto diet. He had no plan to eat the baklava when it came. Then he decided “just a small bite”. Needless to say, he’s no longer in ketosis this morning! Again, I don’t know what they do to their baklava but it was the best we’ve eaten!This little gem, and it is a gem, had amazing service that was kind and friendly. Our meal was perfectly paced and the portions were plentiful. I’ll have a full lunch of leftovers today. They are passionate about sharing their love of Turkish cuisine and that was evident.We will most certainly return when we visit the HRM!

A very good restaurant with rich flavour food. There were many options, and the food was really good. The food wasnt hot (spicy), but it had spices for great taste. Portion was also very good and filling. Meter street parking is available on both sides of the street, and its free after 6:00 pm and weekend.

I went here on Tuesday last week with a friend for a quick lunch. The food was absolutely to die for, cooked and season perfectly. The wait staff was top notch. It’s hard to find both great service and delicious food in one place nowadays! Would highly recommend and will certainly be back!

Top notch! What a great place. Surrounding are beautiful with large mural paintings of Halifax. The husband and wife that run Efes are friendly and above all the food was great. We didnt order appetizers but she brought over some fresh bread and hummus because "we just had to try it". She was right!The salad was unique and extraordinary. The lamb chops delicious and chicken kabobs were tender and perfectly spiced.Rice... Well best Ive ever tasted.When I enquired about the spice in the dipping sauce she gave me a bit of Turkish red spice to take home. Will come back next time we are in town. 👍👍

I went there with friends March 17th. It was our first time eating Turkish food so we split 2 set meals- it was plenty. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. It was fresh and flavorful, the waitress was helpful and pleasant. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

The owner is always there and takes great pride in his restaurant, its obvious. The food is consistent, consistently delicious! I normally go for the spicy chicken wrap (its lightly spiced), the wrap and the turkish salad (which comes with itis loaded with flavour, freshness and value. Ive emulated the salad at home, thats how much I like it. I appreciate a meal thats healthy, is equally tasty and... filling! Food is well priced, the place is well run. Its a gem.

Visitors: My wifes choice; In celebration of my Cardiac ICD implant the evening before. For me a first time ever Turkish food and very leery but, it was one of the most pleasant meals i have ever experienced,from the homey down home Ottawa Valley atmosphere to the owner himself preparing at the grill one of the finest meals i have ever enjoyed. Place is nice, prices are ok, other comparable restaurant has more qty, quality is ok. Need more care when cook.
