Duxford Chapel - Chapel in Cambridge, United Kingdom
Simple building. Plenty of Templar history
Just a barn. Worth popping your head round the door and checking out the diagram which shows the different ages of the building. It is free to visit, and, depending on the time of your visit, some free on road parking. No specific visiting times, just lightly push the door and go in.Maybe combine with a visit to the pub next door or on your way to Audley End, or similar.
Not much to see, but its an interesting and ancient building. If youre in the area, and you like this sort of thing theres no reason not to pop in and have a look. Its free!
Lovely glimpse into history. Formerly a hospital.
A quaint medieval chapel tucked away where you would least expect it next to a hotel, pub and railway station. Looks fairly simple architecturally from the outside, is also on the inside. Managed by English Heritage, free entry. NCP car park next door.
English Heritage building
Interesting place hidden away, wouldnt know it was there!
Only a shell inside but an interesting example of an old chapel and worth stopping at if nearby. Park for free at the railway station as you will only need 30 minutes to look round. Its immediately to the left of the Red Lion pub.
Absolutely amazing place. Quite a spooky little vibe. Closed the door and even on a bright sunny day the corners were in darkness but its a great place. There is a small wooden seat and a board that tells you information about the chapel. Its quite easy to find. There is a holiday inn and pub nearby.. due to coronavirus the pub was closed but the holiday inn was open and they allowed me to use the bathroom. I parked on the other side of the station and then just walked across the bridge. But you could park nearby... Some of it though is restricted parking or station parking so you would need a ticket. It was clean inside and great care had been taken in preserving the place. Its Free to go in and has open on the door. The old door is beautiful and its like stepping backwards in time. The musty smell, smells like old books. For a bookworm like me a dream. Also, it has beautiful old wooden beams. Definitely recommend this place. It is family friendly however, lots of spiderwebs and the ground is quite stoney.
Atmospheric albeit small and tucked away.
Small but simple and lovely. Worth a quick detour from the IWM.
Very interesting
Historical disused chapel, now a peaceful place to relax also near a village pub. Dont need to be member of English Heritage to visit it.
Beautifully preserved chantry chapel
Nice old historic building. 20th c inferstructure has however surounded it. If you are going to catch a train and have sometime it is worth a look. However it is basically near a railway, major A road and an industrial estate. Not a building you would go out of yor way to look at unless you are interested in the way it has been constructed.
Atmosfera e seclusione dal presente.
Lovely old chapel. Nothing in it but atmosphere but worth popping in before a train journey as its by the station
Interesting enough ancient building. Nothing inside, just hollow shell with a little info. Free to enter. Roadside parking.
Fascinating glimpse of history
Such a nice place :could imagine a wedding party being held there xD
Great place 👌
Worthy of a visit but wont take much time to see it all. Free to visit.
