Bar featuring fish 'n' chips & other pub grub, sports on TV, regular trivia nights & live music.
Simple comfortable Irish pub with authentic publican. Excellent fish & chips. Fireplace pretty but not particularly hot, so I will not get my hopes up on a cold SF evening! But comforting to look at.
Great authentic Irish pub and great service too! We will definitely be back!
SF’s best cozy Irish local. A fireplace, proper Guinness, great Irish whiskey and a scratch kitchen. Honestly, what else could you want.
Good prices and the curry fries were delicious. The fly problem was a nuisance and unpleasant having them ruin my beer.
Fine. Not sure what the point of the jukebox is, since they play their own music on Spotify. Sucks because theyre making money from me playing the songs, but cant hear them. 🥲
Best fish tacos of my life! Friendly vibe and delicious food and drink.
Food was fine drinks were fine, but they over charged us fir drinks that costs $6 overcharged us by $36 bucks woNt go back.
everything you want and expect from a good Irish Pub and the service is especially nice.
We stopped there during our last day of our road trip through the USA and had a good evening there. Obviously the karaoke Thursday seems to be very popular. There were lot of people that were disappointed of its spontaneous cancellation. We were a bit too even if we found it just walking by.But eventually some of the guests surprised us with a nice show. Seems to be a place to have a good time!Service and drinks was absolute more than worth it. I‘ll definitely return if I ever get the chance again.
My wife, kids and I were wandering around Golden Gate Park and got hungry. Found this place…..and so glad we did! Excellent service and the food was great too. What if consider to be a classic Irish Pub.
Just a really friendly staff and atmosphere, great chef, food was super. Fire was a bonus. Happy family on holidays from Ireland, Guinness was great too. A little taste of Ireland in san Francisco , owner a great guy and local customers welcomed visitors.
Thursday night Karaoke with KJ Kendo was a lot of fun. Some great singers in the crowd. Bartender kept my glass full and wasn’t shy with the vodka either! Lots of cocktails and some shots!
Excellent ambient. Warm and cozy. Nice time there. Guiness served as it should!
Wonderful place, great people and lots of fun
Great Irish breakfast!
Great atmosphere and even better food. Got the panko-breaded mushrooms and the cottage pie. Both came out piping hot and full of flavor. The cottage pie was my favorite, a generous portion of savory comfort food/pub fare that complemented the beer well. It was really nice to relax and just listen to the banter of the regulars as they shared stories and laughs.
Great neighborhood bar with friendly bartender/mixologist who made us a very nice Long Island Ice Tea on a hot Sunday afternoon. Definitely a great place to grab a pint of draft beer and some pub-grub !
Best Neighborhood Irish bar with food . cozy . Great Staff Food and customers. Music, pub quiz etc.
Quiet as a tomb on a Thursday afternoon, but with some good chow, a tasty Four Point ale, and a Giants game on, it was a perfect meal.
Great pub run by great people. Service was fantastic, prices were fair. Nice to go somewhere where people act NORMAL and have fun!!
While out exploring San Francisco we found ourselves thirty and looking for a fun spot to grab a drink and Durty Nelly’s was near by.What a great spot to grab a drink. Loaded with character and friendly staff. The bartender mixed a delicious drink with a great selection of Irish Whiskeys. I was grateful they had some tequila. They have set up a patio and not sure if this is temporary or if they have plan to keep it. We were there on a pretty cold day and they had the fire going which was very nice to enjoy.
Durty Nellys makes a solid burger, and it came with a ton of fries. All for $11 (The Classic). Next time Im gonna get the fish and chips. If you try them out, be sure to leave a tip even for pick-up. They still have to pack up your order, and they give you a lot of napkins. Edit: Tried the chicken pot pie. Very savory. The crust was incredibly flaky and light. I dont think its an everyday item though. Also, keep in mind that prices are always subject to change.3/17/21 edit: Had the corned beef special and it was great!
Fantastic first Irish Curry experience and the Guinness was tasty. Good outdoor seating for social distanced SF. Good, friendly service.
Pretty good Irish pub. Went in with some friends on a Sunday night and it was more full than Id anticipated. They have a pretty decent food menu, for a pub. The curry fries is yum, especially if youre hungry. The chicken curry fries were a little less yum.Wish they had more beer options. All of us got the Guinness, just because its an Irish pub and also because we didnt find any other beer, that exciting.Friendly bartender too. Crowd seemed like a good mix of young and old.
Wed trivia night was pretty fun at this comfortable and friendly local bar. Reasonable prices for a reasonable but not extensive selection of beers on tap, served with an authentic accent by the charming and well versed barmaid (with apologies for the old school term, but its an old school pub). Several bar TVs with local sports round out the Irish bar experience. Definably worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood!
This is one of my favorite bars in San Francisco. The bartender (who was the ownerbut i sadly forgot his name 🙃 is extremely friendly. He was pretty patient with everyone even if they were plastered. The food here is really good. I always get the curry fries or a hamburger with a side of curry and just toss it on the burger.
Really great service here. Literally the only complaint I have is that the door was propped open, letting in cigarette smoke from outside. Its clean, the booths are nice. The bartender was very welcoming. Everyone should check this bar out.
We had four dinner entrees. All were very good. The best was the curry french fries. Not overly spicey but really flavorful.
From out of town, was met with coldness and unfriendly staff member. Didnt accept my ID and provided subpar customer service, decided to go somewhere else. Recommend The Taco Shop up the street instead.Edit - owner responded doubling down on their idiocy, avoid this place. If you look at my profile picture I am at my favorite bar Prost! in Portland, where they actually treat customers with respect.
Warm inviting place, friendly staff with both great drinks and good food.
Love this place, a quaint Irish pub, with a cozy atmosphere, my favorite place for a pint!
Great cozy little pub. Best kept secret in SF - for real, its seriously a fantastic hangout spot. Ummm...except the restroom. Its maybe a little too strong on the pee side. At least the mens room. Some urinal cakes perhaps? Id love to bring friends here but...eeesh. Its the last piece of the puzzle for you guys.
I love this bar! All the bar tenders are good people and the crowd is very chill. Therea a lit fireplace and a lot of good whiskeys. The food is amazing too. All in all 5 stars is an understatement.
Not for me. Cocktails werent very good. Food was worse but then what did I expect when ordering chicken curry and chips! Staff and the local beer were great hence the two stars.
By far the funnest and best Irish bar in SF. My first visit here was greeted with a shot of a cherry bomb. People are so friendly in here and the bar was great as well. If you are in town this is a must visit place.
We stopped in for dinner one chilly Monday evening. We were welcomed by the owners charming hound and a cozy fireplace! We had several dishes including Irish stew (yum!), mac & cheese (tasty!), and other bar bites. The food was all terrific! The ambiance was very comfortable; its the type of bar where you could nurse a pint and watch the game or snuggle into a booth for a long gab over cocktails equally well. Walking in, we felt suddenly detached from the neighborhood, as though transported to someplace altogether different. The wavy glass in the windows only added to the effect, letting in some light but keeping us from seeing the neighborhood clearly. We could easily have settled in for a very long evening if we hadnt had other plans. The bartender/owner was charming, pleasant, and efficient (order food at the bar, they bring it to your table/booth). The food arrived hot and fast. The prices were a touch high, but the feel of the place made it worth the cost. We absolutely recommend it and will return soon!
A nice friendly bar with actual Irish owners! Had a classic burger and my goodness it was great. Great pricing great drinks great food. Whats not to like?
I had the Texas burger and it was delicious. Beer selection was okay. Had to go with Guinness. I enjoyed the vibe of the place. Fire was going and it felt like a real local bar...wish I had more time to get to know the locals.
Nice friendly bar with good Guinness (3/5 green stars)Quick review today: Durty Nelly’s has perhaps one of the most welcoming storefronts (Barfronts? Facades?that I’ve ever seen. Bright yellow and blue with window boxes and a red door. Sounds a bit garish but it works. We had Guinness and a few local beers (Anchor, I think, and an IPA), some garlic fries and a cheese toasty with more fries (!). Friendly barman and good atmosphere (although too many TV screens for my liking).I’m also giving them 3/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons:• My main problem was that, while Guinness was served in a proper glass, the Anchor and IPA were served in plastic cups (with Bud Light logo). WHY? Update from owner, Odie: they only do this on their two busiest weekends (during Outside Lands and Hardly Strictly).• The barman was helpful in explaining that the curry sauce was not vegetarian, so we ended up with the cheese toasty and fries, being almost the only veggie things on the menu. There’s plenty of vegetarian food in Ireland these days, so why not serve more in an Irish bar? There’s no shortage of vegetarians and vegans in SF.
I am a native and have been going to Durty Nellys as long as I have been drinking. This is the true local authentic Irish bar youve been seeking in SF. Great service, the chef is a Rock Star and the owners make everyone feel at home. I cant say enough about the homely felling that encompasses this place especially on those cold winter days we tend to constantly experience in the Sunset.
Place has been around forever. Love the chicken curry chips!
Black bean burger was phenomenal. The bartender was attentive, kind, and handsome. The kitchen stayed open late to make our food. Had a phenomenal experience. Look forward to next time.
This is a good pub, nice and quiet. We had the fish and chips and curry chicken chips. Both very good. Small portions but still filling. I would definitely recommend this place for a good small bite. Also very good for watching sports!
This place can be a little hit or miss. When its good, its great, but it does have its off nights where your not sure if there is even a bartender. Worth checking out for those nights when it is popping. Lots of actual Irish people, and authentic, rather than just being yet another Irish themed sports bar. The food is great too.
Walked past it on the way back to our airbnb and was hooked after the first guiness, smooth and creamy just the way its supposed to be. Great service and ambiance and genuinely friendly. I mean which bar offer to keep your milk cold! Do yourself a favor and drop in
A fun dive bar for the sunset. This bar is dark and well priced--as all dive bars are. They serve food and take credit cards which is a plus. The bar is spacious and has plenty of seating. The average age is in the 30s but is great for all ages.
Best Irish Pub in the city, hands down. Karaoke nights are amazing. Food is amazing. Trivia nights are a blast. Bartenders are hilarious and fun. The place is like Cheers where everybody knows your name :)LOVE LOVE LOVE
Best irish pub in the city. Thursday night karaoke is the bomb. My rendition of benny and the jets was terrible but I still killed it. Awesome food too. Chicken curry fries. Bangers and mash. Durty balls. All great.
This is one of my favorite after work spots!First things first: lamb burger...do it!Chicken curry fries are also great as well as the durty balls (mashed potatoes, cheese and bacon deep fried). The staff is great! Very friendly and heavy with the pour for mixed drinks. My favorite part about this place is the mirrored sign in the back that has "San Fransisco" on it! They keep it up because it was a gift.
For a place I assumed was used primarily as a Guinness-to-face delivery system, the food was pretty dang good. The BBQ chicken sandwich and the ham & cheese were both excellent. Didnt do any drinking as it was about 3pm and the place was empty except for the staff, but I can imagine its a fun night out.
