Tree-lined park featuring a playground & paved walking paths, plus memorial plaques.
This location has colorful people who hangout at this location. Supervise your children well. Do not let them go without shoes.
Beautiful park, especially during the day. After 9 p.m. a lot of homeless people who hang out together.
Nice place but a lot of weird People, lot of garbage and dirty.
Nice quiet little park in the heart of Ottawa. Its quiet and comfortable. Lots of garbage cans and plenty of benches to sit in.The kids part of the park was fenced so no little runners could make it into the road.It is a nice stop to relax and catch your breathe during a day out.
I wish the weather here in Ottawa will be nice at all times, but is not. Therefore, we have to put aside some planning and go out for a walk in the good weather and fresh air. Dundonald park is filled with old good trees that create fresh air, but people who spend time here, smoke heavily, forcing you to go away and keep going.
Great concert in the park and great fenced off play area
Dirty and unattended, unexpected bad experience so close to downtown.
Beer store nearby ruins this park. Very sad, because it has so much potential. Good playground for kids, beautiful trees
Took a trip down memory lane with one of my daughters. We used to go there when they were a lot younger
across from the beer store, so you often see people in the park, would avoid going too at night if youre alone. However, theres often a police vehicle around the corner.
Mostly people drinking there at night, but it has beautiful trees, chess tables, and a park for kids. Right across the street from the beer store (convenientand also a historically significant building which has to do with the Cold War!
This year the drunks you dont seem to be there making the park a very pleasant spot like it used to be
well after delivering edible flowers to a nearby establishment. I picked up a single can from the convently located beer store and enjoyed it, well I visited this colorful park🤔Minutes into my visit I was greeted by a man with a baby crocodile....just holding it in his hands.needle park is worth the trip!Bring the kids... 👪theres a great play structure, with a fence.all in allbeautiful historic park.....True story
A very sad and shameful place that the city of Ottawa pretends doesn’t exist. It has so much potential for community use but no one here cares that it’s terrifying and full of drugs. Classic Ottawa mentality.
Cute little park in the city. Some interesting people hang around there but Ive never been bothered.
Amazing place to enjoy lunch, perfectly placed benches in the center of the park away from Bank St.
Nice Park when the Booze-hounds or Crackheads arent there.
This park has so much potential and an amazing, fenced playground where kids can safely play without risk of running out into the road and has quiet, shaded benches and grass for people to nap on.There is unfortunately a Beer Store right beside the park and with Ottawa not providing adequate services for people experiencing homelessness and other struggles it can become inhabited by people with these struggles. Without contributing factors this would be fine but the Beer Store next to the park can result in significant public drunkenness, drug use, risky behaviors, and fights.
I think this park will get more high ratings if the neighborhood and the locals get transformed. Someone else made an excellent suggestion to move the Beer Store far away from this park. One light of hope and peace is the Bible Study that takes place on Saturday, amidst the chaos all around them. We’ll see what happens…
Shady park spot for the kids to play. Very downtown vibe with local characters hanging out enjoying the day. Great spot and plenty of options for coffee. I recommend Birling
Better to visit in the morning it can be a bit sketchy in the evenings. Also the smell from the garbage/recycling can be pretty bad you can smell it halfway across the park sometimes especially on a hot day.
We went to this park with our own launchers to sit in the shade and ordered food from Chinatown and ate in the park socially distanced from everybody it was a nice date day. Tim Hortons across the street was open to get nice warm or cool beverages as well as use the washrooms
It would be a great little park if they relocated the beer store. People sit around and drink all day, fights break out. Its a horrible park
Its the nearest park to my home, I like it and my son likes it. Unfortunately, it is full of homeless people who are smoking weeds most of the time and this doesnt make me comfortable!
It’s a nice little park in the core of the city. It can be a be a bit rough at times with yelling matches between other park goers, but it’s easy enough to avoid if you stick to the middle and side with the playground.
Grab a Timmys and slowly walk around the park. Truly peaceful.
Nice playground for little ones, but park was loaded with degenerates drinking and carrying on in the courtyard. Apparently this is pretty common. Known to the locals as "Crackhead park."
Small, simple, safe park. Lots of benches, a picnic table or two. A couple of chess tables. A play area for children. Lots of shade. Next to China town.
Its a great park but unfortunately there are many people who drink in the park and theres been numerous fist fights outside of the fenced in kids park but still close enough and loud enough that kids see and hear it!! Other than that its a great park
Always pretty, theres also plenty of events during the warmer months. Recommended :)
A fun and very relaxed place
If you are wondering where all the playgrounds are in downtown Ottawa, this is the only one for miles and is in a pretty chill setting. Convenient for parents to grab a cup of tea, eat or hit the beer store around the park too. Nothing too spectacular but for the most part all the other playgrounds downtown are non-existent, in a school or actually just a memorial.
This park is beautifully situated with a fairly new play area for kids, picnic tables to sit and enjoy a nice meal or benches to chat with friends. The issue is that there is a beer store right across the street and some low income housing not too far away which lends to some unsavory types frequenting the park on a regular basis. Dont get me wrong, the par is afterall for everyones enjoyment but it is at times overrun with drunks that litter the area with their empties or make it hard to enjoy with their obnoxious behavior. Used to be alot worse when needle/drug users would also use the park to shoot up but it seems that crowd has moved into the core now. All in all, good park if you can avoid the drama.
Very beautiful park, family oriented during daylight. When dark out however, avoid this park. Shady characters occupy the benches. Drugs and alcohol issues abound.
Park is just ok...some interesting folks. But...on a weekend summer night this is the home of Centretown movies! Awesome setup with fun movies. Bring a chair or a blanket and sit under the stars and watch great movies. Pricing is pass the hat.
There are like 8 garbage cans there, none of which you can put dog waste bags in, so if youre walking by with your dog, you have to walk a while with a bag of poo in your hands. Irresponsible owners will either not bother to pick up their dogs poo, or theyll leave bags of it around. I encountered both problems yesterday while walking through the park. Luckily it wasnt in the playground area at least.
Usually quiet park, nice in the spring and summer. Plenty of trees and flowers around the benches, and nice grass areas. Includes a modest play area for kids. Can be some sketchy individuals in the park from time to time but its not bad for a Sunday hangout.
Love watching kids playing. Love having benches along the walkways, some in the shade, some under the sun. On the other side, we see the street, the passerby, the cars, the Tim Horton, the Tea House and the Beer Store. It is the best relaxing park around my place. I love it. Thank you to the city.
The good: nice benches & play structure. Occasionally shows outdoor movies in the summer. The not so good: be ready for panhandlers, sketchy folks, drunks & the odd pop-up meth lab. (Not an exaggeration.)But if you want some sunshine & to watch an intoxicated lady rolling in the dirt screaming at passing people that shell get up when she darn well wants to.... at 11am on a Monday... this just be your new favourite hangout!
This park isn’t horrible but it can use some improvements. Benches are plentiful, and lots of green space to walk or relax. Unfortunately, there are often panhandlers and other people like that around. They don’t really cause any problems though.Last time I went the water fountain did not work, not sure if they fixed it?On the border with Chinatown. If you’re hungry there’s a Tim Hortons across the street along with the Beer Store. 🌲🍂🌹🐿
[Copied from my Yelp.]Dundonald Park is a large piece of greenspace close to Chinatown; unfortunately, thats pretty much all it is. The sketchy neighbourhood doesnt make it the most glamorous place. I wouldnt be worried about sitting around during the day. There are a few kids on the play structure and a handful of dog walkers that do come around. I was on the park bench for 30 minutes to access the pokestops in the area (sit on the park bench right in front the Beer Store and you can access 3 pokestops in 1 go). Sadly, I think that was the main reason most people were in the park.Avoid this place at night. When I drive by, there are usually sketchy characters and/or police cars.
Go there a lot with my small child and the playground is typically full of kids (in a nice way). There are toys around for them to play with. Lots of open green space outside of the playground to enjoy a moment. It is in a bit of a rough spot, but isnt noticble during the day.
Ideal to visit in the summer, great place to take your dog or children (theres a playground area with new structures!). There are also benches all around the park and little tables to sit at. During the summer there are TONS of weekly events going on: community yard sales, movie nights on a big screen, yoga, etc.
A nice park to relax at. It has a closed area for kids to play in undisturbed by adults. You can walk around with your dog on a leash, it is large considering it is right in the center of downtown, which many benches.
Its a park with a play structure for kids and lots of interesting characters for people watchers!Chess boards on permanent tables, and some grass to roll around in with your dog. What more could you want?
I love coming to this park because of its proximity from where I work. I like to sit and enjoy the weather, the issue that I have is that there are FAR too many creepy people. I often come to this park and have seen many fights, yelling matches, and have experienced enough unwanted encounters with people who are high or drunk or just plain creepy. It is not possible to just sit and enjoy the weather without someone making a comment or someone staring far too long. A little bit of regular security may help clean the place up a bit. Aside from that, it is a beautiful place.. great location.. great size.- Accessible- Playground- Benches- Picnic tables- Shade or sun..Everything is great except the creeps.
Dundonald Park is one of the larger parks in central Ottawa. In summer, the large canopies of several old maples provide plenty of shade from the sun and shelter during brief afternoon rain showers.Younger children never seem bored exploring the various structures constructed for their amusement in a playground within the park, and people of all ages visit the park to play lawn games, enjoy a picnic or just to sit and relax on one of the many benches.
A well used small urban oasis that has a great vibe. This little gem is an great representation of the mixed neighbourhood that is Ottawas Centretown. While its true that later at night the park may have a few homeless people or others that, from a distance, can seem scary, the rest of the time its just a perfect small inner city green space.During the day you never know what use will be made of it - badminton, yoga, dog walking, movie nights, gardening, frisbee, bird watching, reading, chatting. There is also a well used and maintained childrens play area.Later in the evening as families and others totter off to bed the park is used by other neighbourhood residents as a place to (usuallyquietly gather. Ive walked through the park at all hours of day and night and have never had any issues - its well lit and borders on well used Somerset Ave so not really a very threatening environment even late at night. All in all a perfectly sane and normal urban oasis. Unfortunately Ottawa has too few of these gems.
Nice park, especially since it was cleaned up from the, ahem, undesirables that used to frequent it. Shady and well used. You may see a yoga or dogs or day drinkers, but not so much that last onr anymore. Kids love the play structure.
A nice little community park to study, do a little yoga, people watch, or watch a movie. Also, it has a nice play area for kids. There can be some interesting people lurking around but overall its a friendly place.
