Dumpling Delight - Chinese Restaurant in 20 wharf Street Tauranga New Zealand - Restaurant in Tauranga, New Zealand
Our favourite Chinese in Tauranga. Only downside is that you can’t order extra rice on Uber eats.
Dumplings were pretty good. I hoped they would be quicker though, as I only have a limited lunch break.
Wonderful meal that was really delicious and very reasonable priceWill definitely be returningEditHave returned twice now and was very impressed both times, love the food!
Dumplings were excellent and very tasty. Would definitely go there again
Poor customer service. Thank you for that horrible experience.
Delicious! A fun atmosphere! We will be back.
The customer service was excellent!! They were really nice to make my dish vegan/vegetarian. In addition the food was good.
The food was very slow and No Service.Owner need more staff.
Everything we ordered was very yummy 👍. Stuff was very kind. Place nearby waterfront walk.
Delicious and worth the price! It would be better with more people together sharing the meal as the portion is quite large.
Felt safe entering the restaurant, you will be asked to produce your vaccine pass for scanning. Awesome customer service. The waiting time is reasonable considering they have to make 16 dumplings. They came out good and boy did they taste great. I dined out in the open, it was a warm atmosphere and I enjoyed the overall dining experience. A++
Amazing delicious food at such a great price! We will be back.
Amazing! These guys are the best! We got the Soya sauce pork and dumplings and they were so good! Highly recommend!!!!!
They dont have any idea of customer service. Been twice and was same both times. People I took were not impressed. Food OK, but couldnt rave about it. Sorry.
Really great food, big portion sizes, helpful staff and very good value. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Tauranga, I will be back again for sure. We had the beef brisket soup (spicy base, which was full of flavor and a good level of heat), mapo tofu and some dumplings.
We ordered veggie dumplings over the phone; she was so rude over the phone. No interest at all in taking the order. She did not even understand what customer service meant.Whenever I order dumplings from any other place, they always ask me about eggs, but she does not even care about taking orders how we can expect she can tell us that. After realising about the eggs, my brother went back; she started yelling at him by saying, its your responsibility, not ours. I think they should need to learn the basics of customer service.I recommend not to go there. A bad place I ever visit...
Poor customer service. She does not understand what vegetarian means is. I think she needs to go to school to learn how to talk to customers and understand what the real meaning of vegetarianism is.I ordered vegetarian dumplings, and she did not even tell me it contained eggs. After checking, I found eggs in it when I went back to ask; she started screaming at me by saying it is your responsibility to tell, not ours. Wow, what a fabulous service offered.I recommend not to go there. Better to find something else to eat rather than go there.
Worst customer service.Does not care about customers. No help at all. A front desk person with this attitude is terrible for the business. She should be replaced ASAP.
Dont judge a book by its cover is all I can say about this place. True to its name what a delight this place is! The food is packed with flavour and is authentic. Try it! You wont be disappointed.
I think that this restaurant is not very single-customer-friendly. In a freezing night, I passed by this restaurant, and I ordered some hot food to try to keep myself warm. However, the staffer suggested me to dine outside with the cold wind while there were some four-seater-tables available inside. Luckily, a couple did not mind sharing one table with me. Obviously, the staffer does not welcome single customers who occupy their four-seater-tables because of the potential high vacancy rate. So, if you bring a multiple of four customers, you may be very welcomed here. Conversely, if you are a single customer, I suggest you not to ‘disturb’ their ‘carefully calculated’ business.
No thrills decor food is great .you know it is good Chinese food when its full of chinese people every time you go there .. love this place
Ordered prawn fried rice but I got steamed rice with fried egg mixed in with vege mix. (First 3 pictures). I had to add my own soy sauce. Took it back, and asked if they can refry my rice for me because it was not what I expected. No colour, no heat of the wok taste that brings the "fried" rice together. Barely any browning on the food. For $15.80, I wont be back. Would be a 2 star, but they made an effort and redo my meal (4th picso I appreciate that.My first time I ordered beef fried noodles, they were okay. Needed more soy sauce and they frying heat flavour of a wok (but maybe thats just me).Never tried dumplings, but they look good and colleagues say good things about the dumplings.
Spot on Chinese restaurant. Friendly staff and very good food. Only nitpick Ive had in three visits is that the 白菜肉 dumplings could use more cabbage - bit too meaty. Eggplant, 大盘鸡, 水煮牛肉 all excellent. Authentic flavors and well made. A good range of Chinese beers are available too, not just tsingtao.
Food was good, we enjoyed Ma Po Tofu, recommend. Friendly staff.
Lemon chicken was bomb, but don’t recommend the fried wontons (too much batter). The fried rice was super delicious. Definitely coming back!
Pretty average noodles! all noodles and oil with a ton of onion and about 3 tiny shrimps, no veg. Yeah nah! Maybe stick tonthe dumllings.
Enjoyed the foods and good prices
I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. The Pork Delicacies are a "MUST TRY" menu option!!
Authentic and tasty - even my chinese friend from auckland was impressed. Beef brisket noodle soup is a favourite to go with the pork dumplings
Go here every week, have never been disappointed by the food. Large portions and not expensive, good for large groups and many many food options on the menu. Personal favourites include: beef brisket noodle soup, chicken wings, pickled cabbage dumplings.
Easily the best dumplings in Tauranga. Great quality food at exceptionally cheap prices. Highly recommend.
Great menu, tasty juicy dumplings, good value, the brisket noodles we super tasty, authentic dumpling house in the heart of tauranga.
Delicious food, very nice customer service, would recommend the fried rice and dumplings with warm fish soup, or a bowl of hot beef noodles
Dont let the 1 star review put you off. The food here is great. The restaurant is clean and warm. The food was hot and delicious. Very reasonably priced for our party of 5 and we ate everything. For those people that dont know, in these restaurants you get your own plates & cutlery from the servery-a common practice. We will definitely eat here again.
Sadly this was a totally forgettable experience. Poor service ( in reality next to no service from a totally disinterested cashier who wore a mask so we couldnt hear her properly and who sat at the till more interested in her phone than providing any sort of help, It was a dirty restaurant, totally lacking in any ambience or warmth, no tea cups, no indication or explanation about where to find cutlery, water etc. had to ask for condiments, no serving spoons for the shared plates. The vegetarian fried rice was palatable but the dumplings produced en masse in some factory somewhere were tasteless and inedible. We took them home for the dog - poor dog - and they were not steamed (boiled nor fried properly. The pork was ho hum and more rice than anything but then rice is cheap right?Look heres the thing...many, many restaurants and cafes around the country are really struggling and we need to eat local. But I suggest you support the places that are genuinely interested in providing a quality hospitality experience and dedicated to delivering high standard of food and service. This place did none of this except happily take our money. It lets the entire industry down. Not worth a visit and if I could give it no stars I would. Im that angry!
Very yummy food and good customer service
I have loved every dish on the menu so far. Authentic, freshly made and absolutely delicious. Hand made noodles and dumplings! Big faves are the Cumin lamb noodles, kung pao chicken and cabbage fried rice (kimchi fried rice).
Yummy dumplings, and I also like the noodles and amazing chilli sauce! Everything is cheap.New meals launched. Best hot crabs ever!
Great food at really reasonable prices. One will rarely walk away dissatisfied, with either the cost quantity, or quality of the food. Definitely worth the visit.
It took 1 hour to get a bowl of soup due to a mix up between ordering and the kitchen but mistakes can happen. Staff apologetic and brought complimentary prawn twisters while waited. Food on arrival was good (hot and sour beef noodle soupand I will go back to try again.
very nice Japanese style tranditional hotpot. resonable price and friendly staff.highly recommended!
Husband and wife family-owned business that you really want to support by dining there multiple times. We ordered stir fried rice noodles, 2 noodle soups, Kung Pao chicken, and pork dumplings. Everything was delicious. Some of our dumplings broke while cooking so the owner brought us a second helping of dumplings for free. Totally not necessary, but extremely appreciated. Their English isn’t the best, but they try hard. TIP: Cash only.
Really like the service and food! Amazing dumplings! Lots of flavours! I only wish for a selection in different types of noodles as only had one type. 🥟🍥🍚🥠🍘🍱🍜
Nice atmosphere, and very good portions for the price
Menu choices are excellent. Portion is big for the price and taste is good too. The lady boss who served us was friendly and approachable. Worth a try!
If your looking for a good cheap eat in the area I would recommend.
Went here for lunch on new years day.We had beef noodle soup and dumplings. Both dishes were excellent. This is chinese cuisine done well.Fresh and delicious.A clean & tidy "cafe style" setup.A nice little family friendly restaurant with a good menu.***highly recommended***
