St Michaels Hill Christ Church, Dublin 8, Ireland, Leixlip
Sights and smells bring hundreds of year's worth of history to life at this child friendly museum.
Museum is great. 1st floore - Vikings. 2nd - Medieval. 3rd excavations of Dublin. Lots of exhibits you can entertain with. Interesting and very informative. Price โฌ15.
We had expected the experience to be geared more towards children, and so less interesting to us elders. We were wrong! The museum does have some great stuff for kids--medieval games that youre allowed to play! But most exhibits are geared to adults and were very informative. EVERY member of the staff was eager to give us info. We took a Viking Dublin tour, and our guide was a great communicator as well as being very knowledgeable and happy to answer as many questions as we could ask her. Just a great experience all around.
One ๐ of the best location from Dublin. A spot special full of history. You can enjoy the beautiful architecture of old ๐๏ธ history of Dublin City ๐๐๏ธ. The ticket ๐๏ธ is 15 euro ๐ถ. I was very impressed ๐ of the nature.
The staff are the definition of Irish hospitality, extremely kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The museum itself although a little small is filled with interesting information with the history of Ireland is a fun afternoon out. Would recommend. (The price is perfectly suitable for what you see and do)
Easy to book, good value family ticket. Really warm welcome from Catherine at the desk & Heather who showed us our route. We really enjoyed our visit, learned a lot through the interactive exhibits and loved the bonus views from the tower. Spotless toilets and lovely easy to follow floor plan. Highly recommend!
Such a cool museum of Irelands history with the Vikings. I really enjoyed it as an adult with no kids but Ive heard kids really enjoy it too. We only had an hour or so to explore it which was just enough. If you enjoy history, check it out! The tower also offers a nice view of the city and way less busy than other tourist traps.
Interactive and fun. Dublinia guides and informs on the crazy and diverse history of the Viking settlement Dublin through the ages. From Viking raiders and settlers, through Norman Kings, you find that even the mighty Tudors were not as much in control of the bustling city, trade port and at one point in time major European slave trader, as they would have liked.
Very neat exhibit, oriented towards families and kids. Smaller scale, and good for about 75-90minutes. Kids (10 yoenjoyed.Clean but starting to look a little bit tired, having seen few changes in recent years, and could use a bit of a refresh.
Very interactive! Great care has been taken to immerse you in the world of the Vikings. I found it engaging and interesting. I enjoyed climbing the tower to see the view of the city at the end, and then exiting through the ancient stone bridge.
Definitely recommend visitng. The museum tells and immersive story of how Dublin was founded and what role did the Vikings play. There is a lot to see and do, and the staff is really knowledgable.
They explain very well the construction of this city. With funny characters and scenes.
Very informative and fun displays if you are into history. Loved learning more about how Vikings were involved with the establishment of Dublin. Getting access to the tower and bridge over to the church was cool too.
A cute, unassuming place that is actually really cool. It changed how I looked at the city, thinking about just how long some of the city had been there. It is one thing to be told, but they do a nice job of showing it. Some fun interactive areas that are probably for kids but dont really feel it. It was neat to get to be hands on.
Great place to learn about the Vikings history of Ireland! It is a good place to go with kids or to spend at least 2 hours in.There are many interactive activities that will make your time better in there.Definitely a lovely activity for a rainy day :)!
Very neat museum! Great for kids and full of things to pass an hour or so. Buy the combo ticket because the cathedral is magnificent. Not sure his name but the tour guy that went to school in Galway for history and philosophy was the sweetest and most helpful person! Front desk lady was great too!
Great attraction of the Vikings in Ireland, a bit pricey compared to the others museums. Watch out for the stairs to the tower... Theyre killer on the knees
Dublinia is a great place to visit and utilises many ways to convey the history of Dublin and its surroundings. Its a must do when you visit Ireland and certainly great value for money! ๐๐
If you are visiting Ireland this is a must see attraction. I am Irish and I love taking visitors here, they are always super impressed with the interactive material, the humour in the staging and the unique way in which the history of Dublin is displayed. There is also an opportunity to climb the tower for fantastic 360 views over Dublin.
Enjoyed tour of Dublinia. Very interesting. Not too crowded so easy to walk around.
Stopped in here as our first museum in Dublin. Gives you a great history of the city which was created by the Vikings. Full scale boat reconstruction at the entrance. Many dioramas reconstructed in the museum of life at that time. Simple stuff for entertaining the children as well. Wonderful staff happy to answer all questions.
This was a very cute museum. I liked that it showed houses that you could walk into and that they had people throughout doing different things to talk to you about the Vikings or the medieval times. They also had a lot of hands on interactions for the kiddos. It was very educational for adults and children!! The line looked long when we arrived at opening but it went very quickly.
I was expecting more interactive a playful parts. Too many text to read, when with small kids. Best interaction was trying out the Vikings stuff. But for a toddler not really much to interact with.
Very interesting with lots of information about Dublin in the viking and medieval times. Great views across Dublin from the Tower.
Nice museum about the viking and medieval history of Dublin. Easy to grasp and setup in a chronological order. There are some interactive components as well to make it fun for children. Highly recommend a visit to this place if youre in Dublin.
The girlfriend and I went to Dublinia and we were NOT disappointed! One of the coolest, most immersive museums Ive ever been to. Beautiful, well-represented and fun! This place takes you through the centuries learning about the city of Dublin. Much of what they have is hands-on and perfect for kids and young people. I would go back in a heart beat, informative yet entertaining!
nice immersive exposition, with complete interactive narrations, available in different languages, children would never forget the experience, also because they can wear viking warriors clothes. try to ask the doctor how to treat an headache!
Very nice museum, nice displays. Some things are maybe too child-oriented. I found it hard to focus on the information with kids running around and yelling. Other than that, it was great.
Great place on a showery afternoon. It has been said that Dublin is an Irish village, a Viking town and an English city. Dublinia tells the story of the emergence of Dublin as a Viking town and its growth as an Anglo-Norman city. Well worth visiting, great staff and a little more investment needed in the cafรฉ.
Great fun. Allow 1:45 to see it all. Lots of interactive material and lots of reading. Some cool excavated pieces as well. And lots of recreated rooms, outfits and stands. At the end you can visit the tower which gives a nice view of the Church and the city.
We really enjoyed the museum. it was very informative and the reenactors do a great job. we bought tickets to this and the Christchurch Cathedral. I learned so much and had an enjoyable time
We stopped in about an hour before closing so we had to move quickly to make it through the entire museum. It was interesting โ a view of Dublin from Viking times until now. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
What a great museum-full of history. We spent a little under 2 hours there and learned so much. There are a few interactive activities to do and the museum is perfect for young and old. Centrally located and you can purchase a combo ticket and continue your visit over the bridge to Christ Church.
If you want a in depth look at the history of Viking and Medival Dublin. Look no further. You feel like walking through time as you explore the history of Dublin as each room is laid out as a continuation of the time line of Dublin starting with the Vikings. While I wish they talked of the Celts that the Vikings met when arriving I understand our knowledge of them is even less than that of the Vikings.Take your time and enjoy.
A Great Presentation of people, interactive displays, history and humor.I LOVED the Story told in the Theater of someone growing up long ago, the story was sweet and sad, as you flew through the town, while the lad goes through is life, describing his interaction with people and his family. Someone did a really, great job with this short, heart-felt story. Really a beautiful job with it all. Any age would really love to see this exhibit. This should be a must see item, not a if we have time. Very Cool Stuff.
Buy a "Dublin Pass"! (solely available online)A must-visit to have an insight into the "Vikings" their contribution to the foundation of Dublin and the following Medievil centuries that followed, how people lived during these times.
So much fun! Lots of things for kids to do. Very hands on.
This is a great interactive museum experience. Our whole family really enjoyed the journey through Dublins history from the time of the Vikings to the present day. The exhibits are detailed and fun with plenty for adults and kids alike. Highly recommended.
Really informative look at the history of Dublin from the Viking age, through the middle ages and beyond. You could easily spend between 2,5 and 3 hours here especially if you read all the information and watch all the videos. Cost 14โฌ and worth it !
This place was excellent - started with the Vikings and then moved onto Dublin through time. There was interaction, live characters etc which made it more fun.
Very interesting museum showing the history of Dublin over the centuries, from viking ages, through the medieval era till the nowadays. If you like history and wants do discover a bit more about the history of Dublin and Ireland, thatโs definitely a must visit!
One of the top Dublin Museums. Youll travel back to Viking and Medieval times at Dublinia.A very nice place to go with your kids they will know how old people lived their lives
I loved this museum. A great place to visit upon first coming to Dublin, with a lot of information about the history that, coupled with a bus tour, will leave you plenty knowledgeable for any explorations ahead. It was clean, informative, plenty interactive for kids, and had some fantastic exhibits of artifacts from viking times, to medieval times, all the way up to modern times. It was ended off with a view from the tower, which gave a gorgeous look at the Dublin mountains and the city all around. All staff were competent and lovely.
It was really fun! The exhibition offered a lot of information but also some visual impressions about the life and style of medieval Dublin. If you are interested in medieval and viking history it is definitely worth visiting.
A very nice place to interactively learn about history of Dublin. The exhibit is on three floors and its has some interesting features like Viking alphabet or a short movie about the Black Plague days. Definitely go if you want to learn a few things and have a fresh take on history of this amazing city.
Very nice museum. Three floors featuring the history of Dublin from Vikings to modern age. Personal very friendly and competent.
A great way to spend 90 minutes and teach the kids some of Dublins history in a fun and interactive manner. Friendly and well informed staff topped it off.
I really enjoyed Dublinia and learning about the Vikings and medieval times of Ireland. The displays were well done and entertaining (except the one with the guy using the bathroom! The grunting and flatulence was so loud you could hear it throughout the museum! The gentleman gave us a family discount and it was worth the trip.
Enjoyable day at Dublinia, well laid out and great for kids to experience, very informative starting with Vikings you make your way through to the medieval period over several floors.Unfortunately due to recent restrictions live interactions with Vikings are reduced but otherwise very enjoyable....extensive displays ....Great to know more about Dublins history.
Nice exhibition on Irish history from Viking period through medieval times to the recent Era. With life-size models, interactive computer stations and movies, both kids and adults will enjoy a visit to this place.
DissapointingAs two avid pagan history buffs this experience was a massive disappointment for my husband and I. If you have young children its okay i guess but if youre going to see cool viking stuff youre better off at the National Museum of Ireland where they have many more artifacts and far less mannequins dressed in poor halloween costumes. There a lot more stuff on medieval times and frankly its boring.
