Bear Creek Rd, Otis, OR 97368, United States, Tillamook
Quaint covered wooden bridge relocated 8 mi. from the site where it was originally built in 1914.
Loved my visit, walked around and read the signs. Great place to take pictures if wanted
Beautiful and peaceful! The trusses were amazing!
This is a must see on a coastal trip. The property owners are gracious enough to allow the public to see this wonderful piece of American history. It reminds me of the book and movie " Bridges of Madison County" This is a very peaceful place with a little creek running under. Definitely a stop to make.
The sheets of paper explain the story of how this bridge was saved and relocated and restored here - typical visuals but backstory makes this covered bridge unique
Nice break on your drive from Portland to the coast. Great reminder of US history.
Not too many of these left in the United States. This one is unique because it was torn down and with support from local businesses and the faith of something that was special to the people who recovered the bridge and reassembled it for use at their house. This is one of the best.
Cant drive over it. Very limited parking since it is somebodys driveway and house on the other side. It was underwhelming. Nice spot for a picnic.
Well maintained, it was fun to show my adult children historical structure on the way to hike Drift Creek Falls
Nice little stop and beautifully restored covered bridge. It is not the original and recently restored but is a quaint quick stop if you are in the area.
A cool place to check out and learn about the history.
An idyllic location tucked away off the main road. The bridge has been carefully reconstructed here by the owners who have preserved this historic structure for the benefit of the public. Theyve provided a printed document that explains the fascinating history and the challenges they faced rebuilding it. Excellent place for a picnic also.
So excited to see this covered bridge, checked ✔️ off the bucket list!
We do enjoy covered bridges. Its so close to the main road and comes from such a different time. We enjoyed it and will go back again.
Beautiful covered bridge. Amazing story behind it. Glad I stopped by.
Quiet little place. Great history. Wonderful story. Very cool looking bridge.
This is a very cool historical bridge. This old bridge was located on Drift Creek itself and was about to be demolished but, was saved and relocated to its current location on Bear Creek. This was a huge undertaking by local volunteers. Theres a bench just inside the covered bridge on the left where visitors can sign and date when they visited. Im so, glad to see that people still care about their history. A great little spot to check out if your in the area.
Do not pass this historical treasure. It is beautiful.
So beautiful... fall leaves and this historic bridge. Raining the day we went, but still awesome to see history.
Great little stop! Glad my daughter spotted the sign. I have never actually been to a historical covered bridge. I loved it!
The history and beauty of this old bridge is well worth seeing! A very short drive from Highway 101 you can have a peaceful drive and relax on the benches there.
Cool little historical spot. Quick spot for some pictures.
Cute bridge but its attached to a private residence so cant drive through. Easy to get to though!
Worth the stop. It’s private property but you can walk across the bridge.
Beautiful! Thank you for keeping the past alive!
Really cool covered bridge. Was completely rebuilt on current site in the early 2000s. Awesome job!Worth the stop!
Great little bridge few miles off the freeway with a creek running under it! Beautiful area and bridge! Its been restored since the old times but its a great place to stop for a few photos or a creepy picture if its dark and misty!
Cute, not too far off (but far enoughfrom main road.
I LOVE covered bridges!! All of the ones I have seen have been back east. So it was a fun surprise to come across this beautiful covered bridge! Thank you to whoever made a print out for the history that we could take home and read.
Cool old covered bridge. It says it is limited to foot traffic but it appears that there is a house on the other side. I was a little tired after hiking drift creek falls so didnt get out of the car to explore but still enjoyed the quick pull out to see a historic gem.
Such an amazing happy and sad story of how the covered bridge was destroyed and then rebuilt and how it came to sit on its current location. So glad the people that rebuilt it decided to try to preserve the history of it.
Beautiful covered bridge. Weird location, feels like someones driveway
A quick stop-off from the highway is worth your time. The craftsmanship of the bridge should be appreciated in-person.
The bridge and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful (even in the rain)!!This is the oldest Covered Bridge in Oregon. The county demolished it where it originally sat and the Sweitz family picked up the pieces and rebuilt it on their land so everyone can continue to enjoy it.The story on how the bridge came to sit on the land was inspiring and I wanted to read more 💕 (see pics).I definitely recommend stopping to see this piece of history and thank you to the Sweitz family for putting it back together and most of all for sharing it with the rest of us!!
This a VERY special place, a loving spirit dwells here! Make sure you take the print-out inside the bridge and sign the visitors book, at first I thought it was an interesting story, but my husband was lying in the shade of the bridge we had just drove 4 hrs in 104 and were suffering for some water, wondering if the creek was safe to drink in this heat, when a fellow tourist came over to us and said they were on the way to the airport, couldnt take their 8 pack of bottled water with them and a voice told them to ask us if we could use it! After reading the print out Im wondering how many others could add to the mini miracles done here!!
The Story is incredible! Nice save!! ❤😎
Beautifully rebuilt bridge. There were printed info sheets of the history and a donation box for cheerful givers. There are no amenities on site as it is private property.
Well maintained covered bridge. Its in National Historic Places.
Our first covered bridge and we loved it. Love that you can sign where youre from also
Love the history!! You folks did an amazing job and please dont ever regret it I mean really how could you! I will bring my daughter here one day because when I show her the picture and tell her the story, she will make sure she doesnt let me forget and she will want to know everything about it.. yea kinda weird that my little one has a passion for bridges but I thank you for your contribution to saving this bridge!
Really neat covered bridge, one we read the story of how it got to its present day spot it became even more interesting.
Tucked away. Pretty backdrop of horses. Picknic table we stopped and had a bit to eat before heading out.
Very cool history. My thanks to the family who purchased and moved this piece of history!
Nice little covered bridge that leads to a private residence. Go ahead and stop, there is usually a guest book. I got some wonderful pictures there.
This is an interesting piece of history, preserved by the people that live behind it. They rescued the bridge after it was dismantled and restored it in its current location. As it is literally right off the highway, it is a nice spot to hop out, stretch your legs, grab a picture and be on your way again.
The Drift Creek covered bridge is beautiful. A short stop down Drift Creek Road, it is perfect for a photo op lol. Very well maintained with foot traffic the only means to cross it. Surrounded by beautiful country mountains and family homes the small tucked away little bridge is a must see.
Good bridge. Stop on your way to drift creek. If you go to drift creek hike go up bear road off hwy 18. The bridge is on your left as you start up the road.
While its not far from the highway it sure seemed like a waste of time. The bridge is basically a driveway to someones house without any parking. I drove there expecting to get out and look around, but had to turn around and leave because there was no parking to be found, it didnt seem very encouraging to people to visit.
We had been driving by the signs for this bridge for years and final had time to go on our way to Salem this past weekend. The signs were so convenient, helpful, and clear. Made it to the bridge, walked around, took cute photos, read about the history, and were on our way. We werent confident where to park but figured since we would be quick the gravel side would work. Fun, unique stop!
It is actually on private property since the bridge was rebuilt and moved. The bridge itself is really awesome, beautiful and historical. The people that own the property nearly ran me over while I was in the bridge taking photos so be aware if theyre driving around.
The bridge itself is pretty cool, but we felt weird driving down the drive to see it, like we were trespassing or something. It didnt seem like a public place at all with private property on the other side of the bridge and also, a small dog was yelping as if hurt, which seemed a little disturbing to us.
