Dragon Buffet - Buffet restaurant in Lubbock, United States
Great food. Huge variety and good service.
Food was not worth the price. The pictures online through Google showed their dinner buffet to be 11.99. got there and its 14.99. No baked crab... The sesame and general TSO chicken looked like it was mixed with a jelly and not a sauce. The coconut shrimp was swimming. The chicken in a stick was cold, literally. The rice noodles were greasy. The rice looked dry. The lo mein noodles were under cooked. The banana pudding was topped with crumbs, not wafers. I didnt want to chance it with the sushi and the fish heads looked dryer than the rice. Save the disappointment and money and go to China Star. I will be trying them out tomorrow. Oh yeah, you have to pay before you eat. Unlike 95% of the Oriental buffets Ive ever been to.
Dragon buffet is always amazing. By far my favorite buffet in Lubbock.
Decent buffet. They have some tasty food dishes actually seasoned. They make their own sushi. Desserts are okay. The only two places we have are China Star which the quality of food has gone down so much and Dragon Buffet. Come here. Dont think about China Star.
Good price with buffet.Honestly almost the same as china star
The food was okay the place was clean the service was good
Not as great as when i came here 4 years ago. Food taste bland no and no flavor just not the same and i love me my asian and Chinese cuisine!!! Just disappointed in this now. You would think that you could also do better in your restrooms seeing as to how much clients you attract!! Hope yall improve maybe Ill come back!!!
We are here but I didnt like it when the flies were on the dessert 🎂 on the cakes yuk and they charge way too much even after we gave them a coupon to eat for 25 dollars for two people Yea right! We paid more than that! So never again will we come here to eat!😒
The service was the best part. Very friendly staff. Food, not good just ok. If youre from out of town there are a lot of other restaurants to eat at. A lot of the options didnt have much flavor. There was a few that didnt taste fresh. There was also a few options that tasted really good.
Took 2 teenage kids here for the first ever visit. Pay up front for entry like many other all you can eat locations. Upon entry, we were seated quickly and given directions on use of facility. As I am not a fan of oriental food, I went for steak as advertised outside and on website. When I asked server about ordering a steak (noone at stationshe went to check. She came back and said they are only offering steak on fri-sun of the week. I went through the 5 rows of food and found 4 things that I could eat (mostly riceand we departed. Food was okay, kids enjoyed it more than I did. Daughter tried many new foods and found a few she really liked.
Nastiest Chinese in Lubbock spent $62 for my husband and our 3 children too eat here and everything was disgusting I gagged when I took a bite of the wontons I’ll never be coming back y’all only have 1 waitress at 5pm is sad this business is straight up sad
Love eating here with family. Anytime we go it can be 8 or will be 14 and they always find a spot for us. They have various foods but it might be old from earlier and we have to wait. The people working there are amazing. We even learned a new magic trick from our amazing waiter! Without that it wouldve be been a 3 star rating!
I went on Sunday (June 26th, 2022)The staff was excellent.I believe the food was leftovers from the day before.Mushrooms and Green beans were way overcooked.Almost all the chicken dishes were sticky and overcooked. Were the food pan empty. It stayed empty for a very long time.Very poor quality food management.
The prices have gone up a lot since our previous visit, and the food, somehow, doesnt compare in flavor to the identical restaurant in Amarillo. To me, its not worth the price.
Nice place food was great and prices are also good. They have something for everyone I dont eat seafood but the ribs and chicken is 😃
Party of 7 they sifted 5 before the rest? Wait staff was very good. Food was good.
The worst chinese food Ive ever had 🤢 so expensive and not worth it at all! The food tasted old, reheated, greasy, and tasted like it was all fried in the same oil. Plus the restaurant itself looked dirty everywhere. Never again! 🤢
The selection of different types of food is superb. The food is bursting with flavor and presented very well the service is prompt and courteous. Excellent
Really delicious and fresh food, also a huge selection to choose from!
It was okay once food is off warmer its immediately cold. Didnt have a lot of flavor but would like to try at a busier time to see if they do better.
I really like this buffet. It is always clean and they are constantly refilling and refreshing. The people working here are always friendly and helpful.
When I first walked in I could tell it was a little run down. Bathroom was horrible one working light dirty floor and walls. The food was not good. My husband was sick for the rest of the day. Everything needs to be cleaned. Will not be returning
This is our favorite Chinese buffet in town. If you go during the week its a little cheaper. My kids love it here.
It was very pleasant to eat there and will be going there more times I just move up here .
Food was decent would give the hot food a good five stars but the sushi was only three star.
It was my cousins birthday and are amazing waiter did some very well practiced magic tricks out of the blue. They also have good sushi.
We eat here all of the time. The food is good and quality. Savannah and Christy are amazing waitresses and the host is always welcoming and sweet. They know us by now but the owner is also exceptional. We love the sushi, rice noodles, and the crab/bacon rolls. However, all of their food rivals others we have tried so far.
The food was really good and a lot to choose from! The sushi bar could’ve been better or had better variety, but I think it was due to our 3:00 lunch time. I’ve not ever had traditional roast at an Asian buffet, so I had to try it and it was good. The peach cobbler went well with the ice cream. The kids loved the variety of ice cream flavors. The only thing we missed was dumplings.
Not Sure Why The Small Star Reviews But Honestly This Place Is Great, I Recommend Going As Soon As They Open So You Have Everything Nice And Fresh, Prices Arent To Bad I Think Its Reasonable In My Opinion, Sundays I Believe Is More Pricey, This Place Has Plenty of Different Options of Food And Majority of Everything Ive Tried There Is Really Good, The Inside Is Really Nicely Decorated The Only Thing That Would Make This Place Pop A Little More Is A Renovation Outside Because It Is Kind of Outdated But Other Then That Give This Place A Try You Might Just Make It Your New Favorite Chinese Buffet Spot
This can be a great buffet but as the decor is good and good architecture. Unfortunately the food is below buffet average. I really hope the owners will decide to improve the quality and variety to be in comparison to others.
I dont care for the food. It just didnt taste that good. Maybe, next time. However, theres a really good waitress there. She stayed busy and checked on us many times. Shed be the only reason I would return. Plus, the guy upfront taking payments. Those two made the environment happy. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 on getting two well workers that really have customer care qualities.
Most of the food was cold. Tomatoes in the Tomatoe and cucumber salad were soft and one piece had mold on it. Taste of the rest of the food was good. Lots of dessert options
First off you get amazing vibes and smells once walking into the building. The staff is extremely friendly. The food was kept fresh. The staff was out replacing any items that needed to be placed. At 7 things were running low but by 8 everything was filled. My family had a great night.
I believe our waitress was Jenny. She was awesome! Very attentive and friendly. As for the food it was pretty good. Just stay away from the bao buns- the BBQ filling was good but the dough was like biting into foam.
Usually, I like the movies, books, and even food joints that a lot of people dont like, so I try to keep an open mind when I look at reviews to a place Im about to try. When I was looking at the reviews for this place I saw about an average of half good half bad.First, when I got here the price was $14.99 per person. It came to $38 and some odd change with tax. Even though there was an extensive selection of food, the sushi bar and the steak area were closed. This was a busy Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m.Next, we waited in line in the entry for 42 minutes. When we were finally seated, there was food still stuck on the table, and the back of my chair was so sticky my shirt stuck to it. But I cleaned the table myself and sat down, still trying to keep an open mind. The carpet looks like its from the 1960s, all worn and stained. The paint is all chipped, looking like kids or toddlers had chewed on it along the edges. The ambiance was pretty, the decor was attractive. The staff was very friendly and took covid precautions with masks and gloves and seating people with social distancing in mind.Right after you pay your bill upon entry, you are given plastic gloves to wear while dishing up your food. Unfortunately, not everybody used that and it was not enforced. However, there were gloves for our use scattered throughout the buffet.Still, I proceeded to convince myself to keep an open mind. As my husband sat down with his plate, it was time for me to go.The first plate I picked up had a soggy noodle stuck to it, so I put that in the dirty rack. I picked up another plate from another pile, and rice was stuck on it, so I put that in the dirty rack too.Still, trying to keep an open mind, I managed to dig a little deeper and found a clean plate, so I proceeded. My husband tried fried rice, vegetable noodles, baked fish, and spring rolls. It was fresh, but he rated the food flavor a 6 out of 10.I was disappointed that they did not have orange chicken and that their sesame chicken did not look like sesame chicken at all.I opted for the pineapple chicken that was a 6 out of 10 for flavor as well. The chicken was extremely dry but the sauce itself was good. I then tried the fried shrimp and tried to force feed myself two of them, and couldnt do anymore. They tasted like mostly uncooked frozen shrimp. So I peeled the tails off and took it home to my dog because I knew he would eat it.The potstickers were tasty in the middle, but on the outside they were so crunchy I thought I broke a tooth. The fried rice and the noodles were delicious! They did not have soup bowls out for the entire time we were there until the last 20 minutes before we left so I decided to try the egg drop soup real quick. That was actually delicious! And the corn on the cob was good too but thats pretty hard to mess up.Basically, I ended up eating $20 worth of corn, egg drop soup, pudding, fruit, and jello. My husband is not nearly as fussy as I am on most occasions, so he ended up eating $20 of noodles and baked fish. Finally, we were the only white people in the place other than a couple employees. Thats not an issue for me as far as cultural mix, I like it. But I would like to know where the "white people" go for their Asian cuisine.I havent lived in Lubbock very long but one thing I have noticed is that theres a ton of food choices, but 95% of the food quality and flavor is lacking. Once I find my go-to of any cuisine I will be a die-hard loyal fan.I guess it goes without saying that we will not be back here.UPDATE: Its now 3 weeks after I tried Dragon Buffet. Although not a buffet, my absolute FAVE Asian place in this area is China Wok at 6302 Frankford Ave, Suite 3, Lubbock, TX 79424. NO MSG! I was looking for my go-to seafood place and found Hot & Juicy. It blows Royal away! H&J is on 50th & Frankford. I just left a review for them here on Google so I wont repeat myself. However, I was happy to find out that the owner of H&J is the parent of the owner of China Wok. HIGHLY recommend!
I had 2 others with me. They were wanting to eat here. Mind you it was $13 a person. Not my choice , but being a team player. My party of 2 thought it was pretty good. Our waitress was the sweetest. I guess my only issue I don’t eat the majority of what was out on the Buffett. But they were not replacing all the food that was out or low.
If I could give it a 0 stars I would. It is overpriced, the floors were sticky, the food had been sitting too long, the food was cold and the things on the salad bar tastes soured. I was looking forward to going and now Im sorry that I went. I dont feel very well since I left. I will not be going back there. My server was very nice. That is the only good thing I have to say...😔
Food did not temp well as it was almost cold. Railings and tables could really use a good scrub down. Outside of the building needs some touch ups to bring it back to its beautiful self. We never saw our server as we need some refills on our drinks. Overall experience was not very good.
Although we were there 30 minutes before closing the food was still warm full and the servers were asking if we wanted anything they were ready to cook it for us. Place was clean staff was nice and the company was amazing. Would highly recommend this place but would like to add it looks like they may have forgot about the outside looks a little down but the inside is beautiful
Owned by such a lovely Chinese family. They’re very humble and hardworking. Always make my family feel like a part of theirs. The oysters are to die for, and, honestly, all you can eat for about $20 is the BEST deal in town. Don’t let the appearances fool you, the food is great. Really nice sushi selection as well.
Went for lunch on weekday it was alright. It was a slow day and end of lunch buffet so they had some empty dishes but then for dinner they did refill.. some was good and some was not good. Maybe if they have less dishes but good quality dishes would be better. Add more shrimp dishes. I had some sushi, pepper chicken and jalapeno chicken was really good. The salmon and veggie egg rolls and broccoli. There was also beef egg roll... different. And pork buns. They should do more seafood.. like crab dishes or fried fish tenders or craw fish.. probably better to go on weekends. They should put also more grilled vegetables or do baked potato or roasted potatos.. they dont have to have so many dishes.. just quality dishes and keep the food fresh. Oh yea catfish would be good too or tilapia and Swai. The desserts also.. they have fruit and ice cream. Is alright.. maybe put fresh orange slices.. or do brownies instead of cookies. Or even put just regular plain cakes, or moon cookies, sesame donuts, or the cake rolls.
The interior and exterior are falling apart, but its simple things that could be fixed/ replaced, some of the bins of food at the buffet were cold, some overcooked, a lot of stuff missing from the buffet. Took a minute to get service because a customer before us on their way out was complaining and warned us the food was cold. The food is definitely buffet food, like its been sitting out all day. The server was sweet and quick. Pricey for the quality of food.
Food was ok please be careful with hair I had hair in my food and in ice cream the waitress was really friendly but food wasn’t the best....... price was Rong online when we went it was way more then we thought just be aware they always running out of food too you have to wait around to refill the food not cool
Best sea food options in town! My opinion of course!
Not bad at all. The rice was kind of dry dry. Bit other than that. What I had was good.,
Couldnt seem to get something simple as egg foo young without having to wait an extra 45 minutes. I will re-rate the place after were finished eating.
I guess timing is everything. I was there around 3pm on a Thursday and the food was not that good. The noodles where getting hard . The different chicken choices where getting old under the heat lamp. Our server was doing a great job of attending us, but the quality of the food for the price left me feeling taken advantage of. Place is nice... but the food does not match the pleasing appearance of the establishment.
I really want to like this place, but consistently is the problem. staff is friendly and the waiter kept our drinks full. He checked on us frequently. They werent very busy, and a lot of the items were out on the buffet. it took a while for them to get stuff replaced. however, the items we did have were all fresh. This last visit was during dinner. Lunch seems to be the time to go, they tend to keep the buffet filled.
Reasonable priced. Pay at counter when you walk in. Have to wait to be seated. Usually by person charging you at counter. Table and seat wasn’t cleaned very well but food was warm and fresh. Friendly servers. Got drinks wrong but corrected quickly. Some items were out on buffet. Had to wait for refill. Worth wait to have fresh, hot food. Decor looks dated but they have horse carousal. Overall ok experience.
I think there is some confusion here! The only positives here is that the staff is friendly and the Dr Pepper isnt burnt. The rice was mush and the angel hair noodles were burnt and the eggs looked rotten.
