His life-size statue is also installed near the Ghat. This ghat was earlier known as Ghoda Ghat because during the Maurya period the order of buying and selling of horses was done here. British historian James Prisnamp has also mentioned this through pictures in his travelogue, hence it is believed that this ghat was also called Ghora Ghat. Ganga arti life time experience
This Ghat is Just AwesomeI think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and Im asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.I used to go there to sit down on a rock and watch the town and my trees. There was a very old tree, a maple tree, with a huge trunk. The others were smaller, three in the back, three on my left side and the old maple tree on my right. There were flowers, many kinds, white, yellow, purple and blue. It was nobodys place. It was beautiful and peaceful and I dreamed many times about.I think that, these kinds of places are meaningful to people because they are natural and people can be there alone, away from their everyday life.I used to go there to be alone or to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds.I liked to go there to lay down on the grass, listen to the wind, kiss the flowers and watch the leaves moving.
Visited here with my Family.Peaceful Place where you just get irid of all of you tension. Here you can understand the gap between the moralityMortalityDeath. This ghat is side to dashaswamedha ghat , two big water tanks will be here they will be main attraction. In 1979 in honour of the first president of India. Rajendra Prasad this ghat was renamed, and made Paved floor with the aid of the Municipal Corporation of Varanasi. In fact, this ghat become northern extension of Dashashvamedha Ghat. And till overdue nineteenth century a stone statue of horse become at the ghat witnessing the "ten-horses sacrifices" accomplished through Bhara Siva Nagas in second century, that is how the antique name "Ashwa(घोड़ाGhat. This ghat is just adjacent to Dasashwamedh Ghat where the evening Aarti is performed.
I visited Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat (which is near Dashashvamedh Ghatin Varanasi on February 25, 2020. It was Ganga Arti Time and generally Aarti starts at 6-6.15 pm so we rushed to find a seat. But we were among the first ones there. The Ghat is very clean and the Aarti arrangements were really excellent. We found a good place to sit facing the Aarti process. There was a music at the background (I think it was a Bhajan by Anup Jalota), the atmosphere was getting created. At last the arti started at 6.30. It was a picturesque scene! There were some Pujaris at Dashashvamedh Ghat and 6 Pujaris on Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat.It was a wonderful evening
Ashva/ Ghoda (“horse’Ghat in the memory of the patron horse used in the horses’ sacrifice ritual held in the 2nd century. In 1979 in order to honour the first president of the Republic of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad (1950-1962), the ghat was named the Rajendra Prasad Ghat. On 10th light-half of Jyeshtha (May-Junethe worship of the Ganga is celebrated on grand scale in the Ganga temple at the top of the ghat. This sacred day commemorates the coming of the Ganga on the earth (I.e. at Haridvara). One of the best place to participate in evening Maa Ganga aarti. The crowd is absolutely electrifying. The hymn and chants are soothing to the eat and soul. The priests dance and sing aarti in a very rhythmically way which is the USP of this aarti. A huge crowd usually gathers to watch this aarti on the bank of holy Ganga at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat. One can sit on the stairs or can opt to watch aarti from the boat. This is a must activity if anyone plan to visit Varanasi.
This place give you best experience in Varanasi and do not miss boat ride and morning & evening arti.
Very good and attractive place of ganga ghat...
In the evening, we took a boat ride to the other side of Ganga from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat. The view of endless ghats, from amidst the river is breathtaking. It looks like a painters colour palette. I stepped out on the bank of the river, took a handful of Gangajal and sprinkled it over my head. I dont know if a handful of water can wash ones sins, but the belief that it shall cleanse your soul, surely fills ones throat. After this we rode across the length of the river to see all the ghats. Some had people leaving the wish deep for a good life and on the contrary some had cremation ceremony going on. The cycle of life could be seen meters away!
A very interesting and open to all Public platform for every activity possible on ganga ghat.
