Leafy zoo with naturalistic habitats for about 250 species, including many of South American origin.
Dortmund Zoo in Bönen
Description
The location was really good, the diversity of animals also was astonishing. Walking in the forest in a rainy day was full of positive feeling . Also, except the lions that are fair, I would rather call it a miniature zoo.Lol
MoreThe location of the zoo is really beautiful, best animal was Giraffe, lion was so thin and we could finish the whole park with 3 hrs walk
MoreWildpark will better option, there is nothing interesting to see
Great zoo, but unfortunately at the moment some renovations ongoing, and so some animals are not there
MoreA lot of stuff is under construction, but the tickets were cheap.
This is lathes zoo I have been to but it’s dirty in the zoo but they also have a lot of interesting animals to look at.
MoreSuper!
We had a great experience there with our kids
Brilliant. Shame about the building work but you have to update and upgrade at sometime. Some different animals here like Amur leopard and anteaters.
Morei think it’s debatable if zoos are animal cruelty, and i’m not going into this topic…this zoo is very nice! i think it’s not as small as people think it might be. it isn’t enormous but if you are a quick walker, you can have the whole zoo through in 3 hours. the cages are quite big for the most part, and they’re doing construction so they can have more space for the animals which is very good so i’m not gonna complain. one star off because the signs are a bit confusing sometimes, but maybe we just didn’t look right. the prices in this zoo, for drinking are very expensive, i think the food prices are okay. but if you wanna grab some water, do it somewhere else. in general, a nice zoo! but please if you take children teach them to not scream at the animals, that’s just not nice and they are scaring them away
MoreUnfortunately many of the animals are not available due to construction works. I would not go if I new that :(Unnecessarily large area and many up hillsSpecial animals are: kangaroo, Penguin, birds, and Anteater
MoreReally nice place where you can relax and have fun with the family, and also you can learn a lot for the fauna world.
MoreAs often here you can really only pay cash if youre visiting from outside Germany... Visa, AmEx or MasterCard are not accepted, which is not advertised anywhere.
MoreI loved this zoo, not too big, but very nice, in the middle of a beautiful park. There are some very interesting animals like tapir, ant-eater and rhinos. All of these just at arms length. Outside of the zoo there is a n astonishing beautiful botanical garden. Really enjoyed it and recommend
MoreThe zoo is located just near the Hacheny station and is accessible easily with U Bahn. No instructing brochure or map. A selection variety of animals. In my opinion, most not kept in optimal condition. It can be a good and instructive day for the kids though. Restaurants, Cafe and WC available. The highlight of the zoo are Rhinos and the Urangutans. I personally am not a fan of or pro zoos. We keep other creatures in captivity with cruelty. It should be really heartbreaking for the animals behind the fences to see that the other birds fly in and out the fences freely.
MoreVery good for kids and even adults, cheap. Unfortunately in winter not all animals are visible, some prefere to hide. Only second time we saw the lions. You can spend the whole day there, its not small. Many tables and places to poc nic.
MoreLarge zoo with a wide variety of animals. In winter quite a few animals are not available. Still a very nice attraction.
MoreOur family is happy to have the opportunity to go to a zoo in Dortmund, especially our little one. I experienced very supportive staff. Its a comparatively small zoo. Looking forward to experience this place in summer. In addition to animals, one can enjoy small food stalls, a large playground, and a petting zoo.
MoreA lot of animals inside for the winter and all the animal houses closed because of COVID so did not see that many animals. Although signs everywhere saying masks and socially distance, vast majority had no masks on. Saw only one other family wearing masks. Tannoy announcements saying to wear masks but not actually being enforced.
Morea really wonderful place that I would visit a few more times. There is fun for children and parents!
MoreA lovely zoo, €19 entry fee for 2 adults and 4 kids. It’s only a pity that there are many places closed in the zoo. They are under construction.
MoreLots of animals to see. The lions and some other animals are not there as they are carrying out renovation on certain areas. However there is still lots of other cool animals to see and there are playgrounds for the kids. There is even a petting zoo a favourite with the little ones (just checked beforehand the opening hours has they are not always open).
MoreI like Dortmund zoo, small but nice. However this time loads of animal enclosures where closed due to renovation
MoreFree entry for students upon proof! Very nice.Small zoo but enclosures looked nice. Lots of different species of birds.
MoreA great spot for family time. Noticeably big variety of animal species for the interested ones. More than enough snack options throughout the zoo. Overall really good place!!
MoreVisited this zoo first time with my little daughter and husband. And it turned out the happy place for my little bub. She loved there as much greener areas and lots of animals whom she can recognize and can see this much near. Recommended place to visit with young children and family. Good place for outing and picnic.
MoreZOO - nice place for spend Time together with Family.
Zoo will eventually look nice. Lots of constructions and updates going on so thats good for future visits. Some animals not visible or not there. We still had a good time
MoreEnjoyed it, some of the animals were not there, probably because they are being looked after elsewhere. But for the price 19€ for a family of 5 it was a bargain!
MoreI found this place very peace full. I gave 3 start because some animal not available in the zoo like tiger,Pythons Snake, Gorillas and little panda etc. service provided by them its very good. clean and follow safety rules.
MoreThey werent much to do and kids were bored, preferred to play than exploring the animals. I guess that had to do a lot because of covid-19
MoreReally nice small zoo, particularly child friendly.
Well kept, nice atmostphere, the animals look in good condition but kinda empty at the moment. Probably due to covid-19. Even then, well worth the visit for a sunday afternoon
MoreI liked but my kids loved it! Its a great atmosphere, employees are super nice, the facilities are good. The food they sell its ok! Somewhat expensive things but it was also not to bad!! I recommend....😊
MoreLovely Zoo. Not expensive and a variety of animals. Enough playgrounds for children. I liked the Red Panda and the Lynx.
MoreIts a must to visit if youre on Dortmund, place is very clean and all types of animals to see.
MoreNice little zoo for the price, shame there were a few enclosures under construction but a good afternoon out.
MoreNot too expensive, lovely zoo with nice views on many different type of animals
This is a beautiful zoo with wildlife everywhere. Chickens run freely, and the exhibits and enclosures are generous. The staff is kind and thoughtful. The animals seem well-cared-for. It will take the whole day to see the zoo plan accordingly.
MoreA medium sized zoo. The kids will love it. Good parking facilities. Plenty of snack bars etc not to expensive. Good selection of animals and they are renovating.
MoreNice location of the zoo. Lots of of space. But not the most updated park and some of the animals had some old cages and facilities. Needs improvement for the sake of the animals.
MoreNice zoo many and many animals I will come back with my family again
The giraffes have a fantastic enclosure! Its open air with no large fences to look through and you get to be quite close to them!
MoreVery well maintained zoo(Entry is 8€/person and no extra fee for a camera. Some enclosures are bit small but the zoo workers seem knowledgeable. The park outside zoo is very beautiful. All in all, a great place to spend a summer Sunday. OH AND THEY HAVE A RED PANDA!
MoreIts really nice place to visit with children. Orangutans and south American animals are special attraction. Its very refreshing to spend time in nature. I have seen Peacock so close from 50 cms distance which walks around the zoo freely. Animals are treated well and taken good care of.It costs 8€ for entrance & 2€ for parking, its cheap when compared to other zoos in this region.
MoreThe zoo is very interesting. Ticket is 8 euro and 2 euro is parking at the spot for the whole day. There are a lot of animals in natural surroundings, but there are no lions or tigers.
MoreGreat Zoo with a good variety of animals.
Nice zoo, clean, comfort.. And I saw some animals that I havent seen before, like Kangaroo, camel in winter etc.
MoreQuite a nice zoo, right next to a big park. The tickets are very cheap for a zoo. Lots of interesting animals. Few animals I havent seen before are the big capibara, alpacas, armadillo and sloths. Parking is free (there were no gates nor parking ticket to buy), big parking lot too.Feeding times were stated on a board at the entrance. Pinguins swimming walking for fish, lion getting a rabbit, apes getting fruit. Saw some other animals getting fed at around 5, like the giraffe. Highly recommend to see how they eat leaves from thorny vines with their super long tongue.A restaurant in the middle had some nice crunchy fries.
MoreGreat zoo. Clean, comfort and very nice children playground inside zoo.
