Food is good, and the service is usually always great at the bar. Ive sat at the tables maybe 3 or 4 times and service was also good, drinks are good!

An expansive menu that anyone could find something they like or want. Just a feel good, hometown feel.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Kristen the bartender made this a very unpleasant experience. She ignored us. Was rude and dismissive. All she did was sit at the end of the bar talking to two guys. Waited forever to get a drink and when you finally got her attention she acted out out. I will never go to that bar again. Worst experience.

Great food. I enjoy sitting on the patio when it is nice outside!

We came in Friday, got no greeting. Sat ourselves. Tables around us were helped but we never got acknowledged. We waited at the bar got a round of drinks after 10 min. Sat at a table, no one came by. We left. 🤘 Good luck with your business, we wont be back.

Server was cool as hell, but the food was soo bland!! Sorry Donkey Inn but there was nothing i could brag about!! The chili was straight from a can. The fries were tasteless. The chicken strips were straight from a freezer bag. 🤦🏼‍♂️

It was good, nothing out of your way exciting. We visited on a busy night with limited servers. I dont really remember the food. Out of towner review. Take with a shake of salt.

I gave Donkey Inn another try after I received a response from the owner. The 2nd time was Great! The server at the bar was very professional and nice. The food was Awesome! & Amazing. I will be returning in the near future.Location in Palatine on Plum Grove road

I was never more disappointed to invite my friend to meet me there for lunch, they dont know how to make a drink, I had to send mine back (Sunrise Margaritait was horrible...non drinkable the staff also had a bad attitude about everything, seemed like they cared more about their "regular noon drinkers" than taking care of newbies. The food was nothing to talk about, very plain, not even a shred of lettuce on the plate. I was so embarrassed, will not be returning...ever!

The wait staff is friendly, nice ambiance...the food could be better imo. Regardless, a nice watering hole overall. Plenty of parking for sure. I hear they open super early for breakfast but I havent tried it yet.

Great neighborhood place to have drinks and their food choices are great.

Ive been here twice. Both meals were great. The chopped steak is superb and the cream of potato with bacon soup is excellent. Very good Bloody Marys too.

Popped in sorta last minute with a friend and got an order of nachos and a patty melt. Everything was great and the staff was friendly. Will stop in again sometime

I had passed by for many years but had never stopped in. I decided to give them a try one night when they had fried chicken for their special. I ordered the special which consisted of 4 pieces of chicken with waffle fries. Personally I only found the chicken to be ok. If I do visit again its unlikely that Ill order the fried chicken.

Went here during lunch right before st. Patty’s day and saw that the corned beef was coming up. I got the Reuben and was not disappointed. It is a great atmosphere that I feel would be perfect for any occasion whether it’s a game during march madness or the super bowl or a business lunch like I had. It’s also a tough choice between the fries and tots

The cheeseburgers here are excellent. Can’t say about much else other than that. I’ve eaten here a few times and always have been satisfied.

Very nice place. Big menu. I have never had a bad meal. Roxanne was the bartender. Super nice.

Service was slow. Food was very good. Music was VERY loud. Difficult to hear others at the table. 1st time and it will be my last. IF you enjoy a very loud environment it would suit you. Not to my liking.

Always love this place. It’s a good old neighborhood bar. You feel welcomed and comfortable which means their staff is top notch.The drinks are well poured and the food is fresh tasting and properly cooked. It doesn’t matter whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner - it’s good.

I was there early the bartender Roxy pretty much ignored me, a single female sitting at the bar. I first got the chicken fingers that were so hard and cold along with unable to eat, where she gave me free drink, did not apologize.My late husband an I for 9 years were eating one day a month.Will come back, but WILL NOT SIT at THE BAR.Im there just like everybody else to have a few drinks eat a good meal and be waited on at least with dignity but I have notified out on other email but if youre a single woman dont go there if you do dont sit at the bar

This is a good execution of the local corner tavern. The portions are large, the prices very fair and the quality of the food is good. . Just not great. Pizza is fine. Their burgers are always good. They dish up carbs any way you like from fries to tater tots to pasta. TVS are plentiful with "the game" on. I like having them in the area they just arent going to win "best of. . " in anything.

First time at this friendly, neighborhood-feel bar/restaurant. Plenty of space to stretch out with our 8 & 6 year old (cant wait for it to warm to sit outside). Waitress was nice, attentive and awesome w the kids. Huge menu, breakfast all day, everyone found something they loved. Good portions and great bloody. Definitely will be back and hope without kids to enjoy the bar!

Quite possible the best tater tots, always cooked perfectly. Had a couple wraps now and so far theyre all really good. They are also really helpful and accommodating for those doing Keto.

Service was a little on the slow side, but once the food was ordered and delivered it was all corrected. My wife had the tacos and I had the grilled chicken wrap and it was delicious. If you are okay with a little delay in service the food is worth the wait!Correction: it must have been the one time we went because we have been back two times since, and no issue with service. Actually the service was wonderful and the waitresses were very attentive!

PRE-COVID donkey inn was our go to for lunch or dinner, probably twice a week for YEARS! good food and drinks at a fair price. Some times the servers weren’t very peppy but they are quick and efficient while making sure everything was good for us. And one of the brothers that owned the place was always there and very nice!!... POST-COVID— we went twice for lunch and then once for dinner. the food was over cooked, dry and tasted like it was microwaved. No one checked on us, when we needed something or even when we were done and wanted the check, our server was no where to be found. other servers very extremely rude about helping us, if they even did. 1 lady said she would find our server and 10mins later I just went to the bar, turns out our server left to pick up her kid. Very disappointed in the changes! Hope they get back on track after covid is handled, until then our beloved donkey inn!!

I went here for lunch at about 12:05 p.m. I was in and out in about 50 minutes. The burger and fries I had were good with fresh lettuce tomato and onion. The staff were very friendly and busy. Nothing remarkable but a good place to bring friends or family for lunch. There was plenty of outdoor seating and free parking.

On Saturday night I was looking for a bar to ease back into normal life where the staff were still following CDC guidelines. I saw that the bartender was wearing a mask and gloves, so I felt safe sitting down for a few drinks and a burger. The food was great, but the service from Nicole was phenomenal. My glass was never empty! Despite a few people eager to not wear their masks, you could tell she kept a smile on her face even under her mask. It will definitely be a weekly treat to return when she is working!

Had lunch with several family members. Warmly greeted and seated, and our server was great! The food was delicious. Asked our server about the daily special (pot roast who recommended, and it was ridiculous good. Meat is tender, juicy and sufficient. Carrots/ potatoes also, but the gravy made the meal. Wish I had more. Everyone elses meal was well enjoyed. Server was great in every way. Well be back.

This restaurant has the best food! Everything on the menu is terrific. Their customer service is outstanding. They always check on you several times during your meal to make sure everything is fine and you have everything you need. Love this restaurant.

My mom and I visited the Donkey Inn for a late lunch on a weekday afternoon. She went with a burger special and I decided I wanted an all-day breakfast dish. The food arrived warm and tasted good. The service was a bit slow but the waitress did mention one of the wait/bar staff had an injury which was why things were slower than usual. It was good to hear that because we did wonder why it was taking a while to get our drinks and food orders. Everything was great and I am looking forward to my next visit to give a more thorough review of different food options.

Great burgers at an even better price (Wednesday special). The atmosphere was cozy, but lively, and our server was helpful without being intrusive. Well go back to enjoy outdoor seating once the smell of the newly paved parking lot/patio fades.

Ill be going back. Food was good, well made American fare. We had fried mushrooms that were perfect, and the app sampler plate and sliders. All were great. We sat at the bar and Bartender Jeff was awesome. Atmosphere was warm and lively.

Hoppin place - especially with the after-work crowd and on game day. Really great burgers and other tasty fare. The bar staff is always ready to refill and attentive as all get out. Definitely a good neighborhood joint with a solid reputation for good burgers!

Yummy! This place is awesome! Its definately a bar and grill with high tables, regular tables, and booths. The staff is friendly and the food delicious. I love their breakfasts. Feel free to bring kids, Ive been bringing my daughter for breakfast, lunch, and dinner since she was about 7. Its less "bar like" up until about 8 or so but definitely gets more crowded and bar like later in the evenings. Check it out, you wont be disappointed!

Great place. Should have gone here sooner. Easy parking, walked in and felt like I was in a Wisconsin bar. Very cool. Very polite staff. Had a great spicy chicken salad. Will definitely return.

Im giving this place a 3 star rating not because of the food, but because of the service. There was no hostess so my parents and me waited only about 5 minutes which is no big deal, but our server took a long time to place our drink order as well as take our food order. For a three top, a food order shouldnt take more than 15 minutes to complete. We waited about 25 minutes. This may seem like nothing but I think its something to work on. If the servers work their tables correctly even on a busy Saturday more people will leave happy.
