Small museum, so not much to see but interesting all the same and only 5 euros to get in. Very helpful staff. Recommend to watch the video from 1958 about the railway.
MoreLots to see and you can get a ride ( shorton a little train may not be suitable for younger children as they could find it a bit boring as lots of reading
MoreLovely little museum: very informative and well worth a visit.
Steven (staffwas very friendly.Interesting displays.A real steam train and interactive computer train driving experience for kids. Kids absolutely loved it.
MoreGreat experience for kids
Great wee place to visit
Very interesting, wish we still had trains in Donegal. Very short-sighted in the past.
MoreSmall museum, with very welcoming people, they will tell you the story of local railways and a series of bad decisions that led to dismantle them
MoreA very interesting hour well spent.
Member of staff gave us a personal history. Very enthusiastic. Worth visiting.

Must say we enjoyed the staff who gave us a tour of the venue his passion for the railway clearly evident ! Would definitely visit in the future and hopefully next time they will have track to compliment this brilliant venue for steam 😊
MoreStaff keen to please. Small, but worth a visit. Ask about the Isle of Man, and other small 3 guage railways.
MoreComprehensive, and fascinating museum of the long lost local rail network, stretching across Co Donegal. Super hand built models of local stations.
MoreGreat coffee hut here and staff were lovely
Staff were very informative, museum was just brilliant and the video was unreal-great experience;)
MoreGreat! Was so interesting! The model in the reception area is so detailed!
An interesting little place. The gentleman who showed us around really knew his history and is passionate about restoring the train line
MoreAmazing tour well worth the €5 each.
Really interesting visit and tour. Great to hear the plans for reinstating track and a steam engine. Look forward to visiting again to see it up and running.
MoreA gem of vintage rail preservation and presentation. A highlight of a visit to Donegal Town.
MoreWe spent a lovely couple of hours here on a rainy afternoon. Our daughter was particularly fascinated by the film and the model railway. Thanks.
MoreNot worth the time and money to visit for my opinion. Pity as the staff is kind but there is very little if nothing to see, especially if you have kids. Disapponted!
MoreReally nice. Was lovely and sunny on Saturday. Great coffee and Davids brownies are so yummy. I will be back.
MoreGreat wee museum in Donegal Town which is cared for by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Many interesting pieces inside and some good stories as well.
MoreOne of those places where absolute dedication to a cause inspires you. The gentleman who showed us around was passionate, sincere and informative. I really wish them luck in extending the railway line in the future.
MoreGreat little place for a bit of history. The host knew so much. Worthwhile charity to put a few quid to.
MoreTrains do not run in County Donegal, but they historically did. This railroad museum learns you about the trains and railway lines that used to be located in County Donegal. Inside are multiple artifacts of the railroad in County Donegal like old tickets, signs and pictures. There are also multiple scale models on display and a nice layout. Outside are a few railcars on display. The museum is raising funds for the restauration of a famous locomotive from Donegal called "Drumboe". The admission is free but its suggested to make a donation. The museum is ran by nice people, had a warm welcome and was offered a cup of coffee.
MoreWe absolutely loved this place! It was a pleasure to learn about the railways in the county from people who are clearly passionate about what they do. Their campaign to bring back the Drumboe engine is a cause which we were happy to donate to and we wish you the best of luck with your fundraising. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Donegal to see how the campaign is progressing. All the best!
MoreExcellent little museum with interesting displays and a working model of the old narrow gauge. The staff are lovely. We were entertained by a wonderfully pleasant German lady who really engaged our young kids (oldest is 7), giving then quizzes etc. No cost but they ask for a €5 donation, which is money well spent.
MoreLovely place to stop off when in Donegal. Loads to see here. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
MoreVery Interesting if ur into railways lovely place to sit and relax with a tea or coffee and friendly staff well with a visit as its charity run.
MoreGreat to see the old narrow gauge railway system. Very informative, the person showing us around made us tea and was very knowledgeable. Great video to watch
MoreVery enthusiastic volunteers made us eWelcome plus complementary tea and coffee (even biscuits!). Lots of models and photos, books for sale, and a film show from old cine film. Perhaps a little more interpretation and stories would help the non-expert. And a closer link with th Fintown group.
MoreThis is a lovely place to take your children to see Santa .they really made the day special. Staff were so attentive and Santa was especially welcoming. Well organized .and memories to cherish. Thankyou all for making it a day to remember.
MoreFantastic little spot. We were there for over an hour. The guy who volunteers there was full of knowledge. Very interesting indeed.
MoreA great place to visit if youre into vintage trains and the history of the railways of Donegal. The staff are super friendly and happy to answer any questions. We went as our 6 year old son is very interested in trains, and while the Centre is more suited to an older and more serious enthusiast, he thoroughly enjoyed it. He was over the moon to see a model Thomas the tank engine working hard on the model railway. Yes, Thomas is probably frowned upon within the train enthusiast community but lets face it, the little blue engine is responsible for many children becoming enthusiasts. He certainly is in our case.We had a great couple of hours looking at all the old parts and uniforms, as well as walking through the old carriages.
MoreLots of memorabilia from a lost age, such a shame that so little is left of the operational railway. I travelled the FEVE in Northern Spain 600km of metre gauge!
MoreThis museum set in the old station brings the story of the long gone Donegal railway to life.
MoreHad a great morning with kids here, interesting exhibits and video. The man on duty was really welcoming and helpful.
MoreWorth a browse if youre in Donegal Town and interesting in the fantastic railway history of Donegal or just into museums. Great spot to bring kids too.
