Large plates of Puerto Rican fare are served at this sleek eatery & nightclub with DJs & live music.
Good food, good time, good people. Drinks took a while to get.
Celebrated a family members birthday the kitchen ran out of almost everything we ordered and what they did have came to table cold. Worst dinner experience.
I hosted my friend’s farewell party at Don Coqui, and it was the perfect restaurant to host a party of 15+. Reservations were easy to make online, and Maria, who I spoke with on the phone, reassured me that our reservation was confirmed, the day prior to the party. The venue itself was nicely decorated for Halloween, very clean and modern, and the booth seating along the wall was very nice and comfortable. The restaurant staff had no problem with us bringing decorations, and even lowering the background music playing. We stayed for the Sunday Brunch, which was a pre-fixe menu of $45 per person, including bottom-less mimosas and sangria.Just beware the restaurant has a strict policy of 2 hours for each brunch party, and if you go over the time, they’ll remind you to pay, otherwise you’ll have to pay extra $10 per person for extra time. The food was pretty decent, but the appetizers differed from what was listed on the menu. The menus stated chicken empanadas, however, what was provided was beef empanadas, which were delicious, but not what we were expecting.Overall, our experience at Don Coqui was enjoyable, and I would recommend it if you’re looking for delicious Latin food with a lovely atmosphere.
I like this place! The male bartender was pretty cool to talk to. I got a side dish at the bar; drinks are a bit pricey but it’s still worth trying. One thing I did noticed was that the female employees are gorgeous especially the women bartender working in the lounge area on 10/21/22.Anyways, J Lo and Fat Joe make frequent visits here according to one of the workers, you may get lucky and see them if you’re there.Definitely recommend to anyone to stop by if you’re in the area.
Worst place very racist…no offense to anyone but there’s a lot of Dominican workers there and the outside bouncers are only nice to people like their kind. The outside bouncers are very rude and nasty.
Happy Hour was great but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the food. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. The Shrimp Mofongo was so dry and they only gave you three Shrimp. The Buffalo wings were so salty. The food was overall bland. The bartender was also the waitress which made everything take even longer. Truly a dissatisfaction experience.
...the atmosphere...the music , the hardship to go across to get a drink at dance floor bar and be in touch and see the most amazing group of people having fun till 4am...awesome....we always go to Norwalk , Tablao...and stretch to White Plains...life is short...do it All ...Today...
The steak was good but the Morro was bland...was told by someone that because my date was sick and it was her birthday, the 1st round of drinks were on the house.....that didnt happen and the empanadas was dry and the chicken ones had gristle in them. We had a good time but food has downgraded...
That this the worst restaurant I’ve ever been and let me tell you how bad the service was. Waiter messed up most of the drinks and took one hour to bring just one drink…they didn’t have most of the food 🙄🙄what kind of restaurant has no wings, lobsters, mash potatoes and more that I don’t remember. We were a party of 8. They told us after taken our order 40mns after that they didn’t have them, had us waiting all this time just to find out we had to re-order other food…very disappointed if I could give a negative 5 I would..
Too expensive for nothing. 45 dollars each plate. I can see if the food was good, but it wasnt. The beans were mostly water, and the passion fruit was fake, tasted like water with colored sugar. I was very disappointed!
Too pricey for sub par food n service...Ive been to other Don Coqui establishments, in fact, Ive been to the first one in New Rochelle and that was way better in every way. We still had fun but definitely not to the standard that Don Coqui is known for
Came for a Family members birthday, they got everything wrong and wanted to argue about they didnt make a mistake and someone in our party didnt even get their meal. Its the absolute worst experience. The owners brother argued in the womens faces trying to intimidate them. When they are the ones who messed up their entire order. Never been treated with such terrible attitudes and disrespect.
Food took a little long but worth it order pernil best I ever had and the waitress was friendly and staff was only problem I had was at the bar we waited 10 15 until we order a drink
It was alright, cater more to Hispanics with the music and thats ok cause I was invited here, more power to them.
We went to celebrate birthday of my brother, we went to the club site. Good music, did not like how much they pushed for us to get a bottle service. Thats the only bad side about it. Other then that cool environment
A fun brunch experience. The staff were super sweet. The food was amazing. Not a typical Brunch menu. The plates are big and delicious. Its 2 hours bottomless mimosas or Sangria.
I can enjoy a Saturday night a don coqui anymore!!!! They let in who they want too and the security/door men are taking cash payments to let ppl in!!! It was never like this. Don coqui is ok but it’s not that exclusive to be paying to get in. The security is taking illegal payments but I guess who is ever willing to pay there price will get in. There are many other bars to spend my money at. Sorry you guys lost my business because of your doormen and there shady business tactics.
Bartenders on the nightclub side are so slow, they have 100 people asking for drinks and they act like its only 2 people, you can see on their faces that they dont care. by the time you finally get your drink the night is over.
This restaurant does not even deserve one star. It is a rip off. Do not get the birthday prifix which they force you to take if you admit it’s a birthday and even though we wanted to order from the regular menu they denied that choice. Waiter was shady no prices were on the menu and the appetizers of their choice were horrible as well as the food. Chops and rice hard salty and dry. Steak and onions so burned I could not eat that meal at all. Drink prices were so expensive and sweet. No water unless you paid for a bottle. Waiter did not ever ask how was the food etc. The bill for 8 people was over 800.00 20% gratuity for terrible food and service and 4% fee for using a credit card. Never again please be aware of their tactics,
Too expensive. Got charged two different price for the same drink. Some waitress overcharge to keep the difference as tip for them
I stoped going for a long time. But, we went today and our experience was great. The Dj played classic latino and todays hits of music to dance. Bartenders where friendly. The owner was very friendly it makes you feel welcome. Great latin place in the heart of White Plains. I highly recomend this place!
2022-I am here for Fathers Day for a 5 pm reservation and I should have known to run. It was empty and it took 20 min before our waitress took our drink order. She then returned and said let mw verify what we don’t have. The appetizers available was cheese empanadas and buffalo wings. Wow! Nothing in the entree section was available and blamed it on the fact that they had brunch earlier. I never received the braised Oxtail and told them never mind and watched as my daughters tried to eat the most dry steak and onions in the world. At this time I’m m still waiting on the side of plantains, oh well. Don’t come here it’s not worth it and the service is subpar.
A dinner and party experience combined. The atmosphere is lively and clearly ready for a party. I had heard about this place but it was my first time going. In two words: worth it!The experience from start to finish was excellent. All of the staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was inviting and lively. The food was delicious with portions that left us feeling stuffed. The drinks did not skimp on the liquor. I will be back.
They attempted to make oxtail and they failed. Oxtail is not white it’s dark brown. If you don’t know how to make oxtail take it off the menu. The ambience is nice. Seating was great.
Their clams & chopped chorizo appetizer was good but they do not serve bread with it, So you can not thoroughly enjoy the sauce it came with. They did not serve your free water, You must purchase the bottles. Bottles which one could normally purchase for a dollar were $ 6.50 for two. They do not serve you bread as your waiting for the food, And this is very common among Spanish restaurants. They do not inform you if theres an item thats no longer available until your entree comes to the table. I ordered the pork chops with rice and pigeon peas and potato salad, there was no more rice and pigeon peas they just served with yellow rice. The waitress who attended us Rebecca Adams was not aware of items that were not available in the back. This is showing that theres no communication between the cooks and the servers. They did not afford me an opportunity to change my entree prior to it being served. Also be mindful they add on their own gratuity instead of allowing the customer to choose. Does a credit card search charge according to the receipt. So if you ignore all of these important items aside it was a nice place but I would not recommend it. My bill came out $181.28 for two of us and I had all these issues unresolved.
A total rip off, DO NOT GO HERE THERE THIEFS. I went to a family party on the second floor after that we went down to the club section a girl called Wendy N.waiter Is the biggest scammer who offered us a booth and 2 bottles of choice plus a bottle of champagne for $475. When we got the bill she charge $625 . The little 3cranberry juices were charge for $5 each plus the 8oz 3pineapple juices as well then has the nerves to ask for a TIP OF $90 cash cuz she wouldn’t accept everything in the card payment. A TOTAL RIP OFF AND THE MANAGER IS A PIG AS WELL. STAY AWAY FROM HERE BIG TIME SCAMMERS. THIS WILL BE REPORTED TO CONSUMERS AFFAIRS hopefully inspectors will investigate this bar and it’s management team.
Please expect the prices to not match the customer service, food, drinks, or state of the bathroom. The bathroom looked absolutely trashed. The sinks were clogged with hair and filled with water. Trash all over the floor. The waiter, employees kept asking if we were good, rushing us through the process of eating any moment they could. The waiter just made the entire experience awkward and unpleasant. We didnt even want to stay and dance because we were THAT turned off. My first time going and Im GOOD! Not again.
I was very disappointed that they didnt have any salads of the two listed on the menu, the waitress was arrogant and was making unnecessary comments about my date being too thin (who does that?). And on top of that they only take cash no cards, I understand the owners are trying to get away with not paying taxes but their ATM only allows you to get a maximum $160. What if the bill was bigger than that? Was I supposed to walk around looking for another ATM?Definitely not going back there, theres other better restaurants around.
Went here for new years, 2022, it was 65$ to walk in ( group of 6 =$390), the waiter didnt take notes, so my steak was done well, not medium rare as i asked. Well prepared food, with zero seasoning. I was thinking, its only 65$ a person, let me keep it to be nice. NOPE, they charged us for the meal as well. OK its new years, so they included a mandatory 20% tip. Sure no problem, but then they asked for an additional tip. Really? Then it was another 20$ each to party in the back. ( thats 65$ + 20$Thats when I walked out. I used to love this place, now its just a rip off.
If you ever have john as a waiter he is the best doing his job very professional and awesome personHe will treat you as a friend that you havent seen for a long time and make you smile 😄 plss give him a pay rise he deserve it
Food was good but they are very pricey especially when it came to the drinks
Food and service were excellent. Great atmosphere and unique venue in White Plains where you can eat and party under one roof. Would have given 5 stars if not for the happy hour policy of adding 4% for credit card charges and mandatory 20% gratuity. Nothing happy about that!
2021 Birthday AfterParty was spent here with about 20 friends in the lounge area. The ambiance, The Music was a decent mix of 2000 Hip Hop, Reggaeton and Carribbean Vibes. The staff, The service is great and the food/drinks were spectacular! Even when they are under staffed they make sure we are treated well. Their was a few of us, but staff was was ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and assist. This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. Next time we visit NYC, we already know where we want to go.
I absolutely love this location. The restaurant, lounge and patio were all so lovely and amazing.
The fried calamari was amazing. Environment was a very nice vibe It was my second time at this restaurant and the food is pretty good. I can say they make strong drinks so if your in a drinking mood this the place to go, as well as a little lounge in the back.
Wow! Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this team of professional and wonderful staff. I called this establishment on a Friday for my dads memorial dinner after the funeral services for Monday. This space is unconventional but my dad would’ve loved a space like this to be remembered. Thank you for making my vision come to life and for the amazing frozen passion fruit drinks.
A must go. Covid safe and extremely fun. I celebrated my bday here on 2/12. The staff was professional, wore mask, took temperatures and names and numbers of customers. The table spacing was great. I had the BEST time! The music, food and drinks was over the top delicious.Very nice for a date or a group of fun friends.
Was here for my bday. Atmosphere was nice and pleasant. Only complaint , the bus boy came to our table and without asking if we were done just picked up our food. We called his attention and he disregarded our comments. This was so rude. They should train there staff better.
I spend $200 on a large order of Paella today, December 24, 2020. I got no crab legs and no lobster, and maybe two or three shrimp serving nine people. Since the original Don Coqui in the Bronx, I have been a customer, and every Christmas eve, Ive brought Paella for my Birthday. I was very disappointed with this order; I felt ripped off, and this will be the last time I will be a Don Coqui customer in White Plains. I guess I will have to travel to Jimmys Cafe in the Bronx for better Paella!!
Came back home for family event my buddy said lets get some grub. Don Coqui hit the spot. Arroz con Pollo y Habichuelas perfect. Supersized portion of Rice,Delicioso!! DJ was great, shout out to the staff.
Food is decent when you dine in, But NEVER will I ever order delivery from them again. Food came sloppily packaged and missing 3/4 of the items. If you have a problem with your order, good luck getting someone on the phone. Ive called multiple times only to have to listen through their automated message and to be forwarded to voicemail. No response. Also e-mailed and messaged through FB...no response. This is not the first, but the SECOND time I received a delivery that was WRONG and looked as though I received the scraps off of someone elses table. Terrible customer service and if a restaurant cannot keep up with deliveries, they probably shouldnt offer it. For the amount of money I spent (that was thrown in the garbageI will never dine-in/order from them again.
The food was very salty and the music could have been a little more diverse, the waitress could have also been a little better than what she was,I was going to go back for my birthday, but my experience was not a good one!!
Great experience. Great food. The waitstaff was very laid back but brought some energy to our party when they realized we were there for a graduation celebration.
Nice looking restaurant. Plenty of seating space. I went on a Saturday around 2:30pm so it was no wait ! Fast service and quick turn around with food. I ordered the shrimp scampi with rice and beans. It was average. I also tried the Hennessy coquito it was actually good very smooth and for you henny lovers definitely will taste the henny. I can see this place getting crazy but for now if I go back definitely will do an early afternoon to avoid crowds.
Everything was perfect! The food was amazing and the drinks were great! The service from the waiter was fantastic and very attentive! I would 100% recommend this place and would come back again!
It was four of us. We arrived around 6:30pm on Saturday evening. We were out celebrating Marias birthday. It was somewhat empty when we arrived but it began to fill up quickly within the hour.We started out with beef empanadas as the appetizers. ❤ Yummy!!!!! I had the pork chops with black bean rice and potato salad. The chops and rice portions were good in my opinion but the salad portion was to small. They used a melon ball or small ice cream scoop for the salad. I wish my meal included a few pieces of sweet plantains and some avocado. That would have completed the meal.Overall, the food was so delicious. ❤❤ The service was great. 🙌🏽🙌🏽 The birthday girl, her husband and former co-worker enjoyed their meals, including their beer, mojitos and coquitos. I had a Pepsi and water. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful. The red, white and black color scheme was on point👍🏽👌🏽 and I loved the ambiance of the place. Oh and the menu was lit, when you opened it up, which is a nice touch.👌🏽👍🏽Wish I had taken a pic of it. There was a separate bar area and in the back their was a private party with a DJ on deck, which was reminiscent of the New Roc location I use to frequent. I was disappointed to learn last week, it has been closed for over 2 years now. Oh well, I will be returning to this new location. I hope sooner rather than later.
This was my first time coming to this location. I have been to the one on city island which is closer to me. I came here because my dad had a groupon coupon he wanted to take me out for a meal. The place was nice, not as lively as the one where I live, its probably because it was on a Sunday night. Usually this place is very lively. The food was delicious, the music was nice and the service was ok. Parking wasnt to bad and it wasnt to crowded. Only downfall that bothered me was the fact they offered a bottled of water and just plain water was free with the service. It came out to 5 dollars for the water. I wish the waiter or waitress wouldve mentioned that it cost. But overall the place was nice.
The churrasco tasted wonderful. The rice and potato salad were great. The mixed appetizer platter brought a lot of food. The fried chicken was on point. The sangria was yummy. The only thing weak was the dessert. The green one tasted like playdough. The others were just not good.
Service here is incredibly slow. We arrived an hour before our game and it took 30 minutes to get drinks because our server forgot we ordered them and asked us again after our friends showed up. 10-15 minutes later our food finally showed up leaving us only 5 minutes to eat it and get it boxes up so we didnt miss our game. The place looks nice and some of the staff was polite but none of there service was worth a tip. They also have a nightclub in the back. The food wasnt that bad but $20 for a plate I didnt get to eat more than 1/5 of is a bit steep.
Great food. Great music. You can come in for dinner and dance off the calories. The drinks are great. Try the sexy island if you are up for a challenge.
