Price misleading. The room was clean. Location is perfect and staff is very friendly, as advertised. I ended up going on my trip while it was forecasted to be probably one of the hottest days this year. There’s no AC in the room, but the day before, they purchased fans and put them in all the rooms. I found this to be a kind and thoughtful gesture. Some small problems I had were that the shower curtain is ridiculously too small for the shower, and thus water goes everywhere every time one takes a shower. Also, there was no fresh fruit in the room as advertised, but I saw some downstairs that was maybe free, I never asked. Also, one time when I came back to the room after it had been cleaned it reeked of B.O., so maybe the cleaner could stand to have a bit better hygiene. There is no fridge, microwave, or phone in the room. There is a pitifully small selection of channels on the tv. When I arrived, for whatever reason they had it on their system that my trip had been booked starting the next day. Thankfully, I had taken a screenshot of my reservation and the problem was resolved. As I never received a confirmation email, I would advise everyone to do the same. However, I consider all of these problems to be quite forgivable, and are not the reason for my rating. The reason for my rating is that the prices are misleading. When I booked, I think it was 58€ a night, and I stayed for six nights, 58x6=348€. However, somehow my stay ended up being 818€. Even with taxes, I don’t know how they arrived at this number. I should’ve paid attention more when I booked. Otherwise, this room would have been worth what the original price advertised, and I would have given it a higher rating. It’s a cute hotel with a great staff and location.

Great location, really nice and welcoming staff, great price, beds were very comfy and the room was large and warm, the district is quiet, but the soundproofing between the room is not great, and the bathroom was a bit dated.

We booked a familiy apartment and got apartment 1 across the street from the hotel. The apartment was huge. It had a seperate living room with tv and small fireplace. A kitchen with oven, stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. Two seperate bedrooms with 4 double beds. Seperate toilet and seperate bathroom. The apartment wasnt quite new, but it was good enough for us. Everything was clean enough. Only the toilet had a heavy urine smell which wasnt very nice. It looked clean, so no idea where the smell came from. The apartment had electric blinds, so we could sleep in the dark, which was nice. The staff was nice and always willing to help. The location of the hotel is great: 5-10 minute walk from Köln central station and the cathedral and almost ON the metrostation (you could feel the rumbling of the passing trains in the appartment though, but that wasnt annoying for us).Price / quality was very good for us.

Made the unfortunate mistake of booking this hotel on Hotwire. Entire experience was awful. On Hotwire there were zero warnings of business only travel due to covid. There was zero notification that the front desk closes at 1830 making your window to check in 1600-1830. Fortunately? Saw the blond woman who worked the front desk at 1840 the evening of 20Mar as she walked out and she claimed she sent me an email with check in instructions *false* and called me and left a voicemail *false*She was increasingly rude and blew us off because we did not have a letter from our employer stating we had a business meeting on Monday (which we found a better hotel to accommodate us)Awful place, awful people, awful experience.

It started off with confusing email correspondence. In the confirmation e-mail they stated we could check in until 11 pm. Afterwards we received a second e-mail stating check-in was only possible until 6 pm (!!!). Obviously we didnt make it at 6 and arrived there only to face a closed door. Tried calling, they didnt answer. Therefore, we were forced to book another hotel. We asked for a refund soon after. To our surprise they falsely claimed they tried to reach us (which they didnt), and that in fact they always pick up the phone to still allow check-in late at night (which they didnt). After that last e-mail they simply ignored all our further requests and emails.Absolutely fraudulent and terrible service. 0/10

Worst holiday accommodation EVER. Under no circumstances, do NOT book to stay in the Domspatz City Apartment via Dom Hotel Am Romerbrunnen on Booking.com. We arrived at 8pm and couldnt get into the hotel to check-in, it had closed. Rang Booking.com to be told to access our key from a keysafe - not what our check-in instructions had said. We were then given rubbish verbal directions to the apartment. It is not in an apartment block, even though there is one called Domspatz City apartments. You enter through the back of a kebab shop, past the kitchen and store room, up 4 flights of tiny stairs with no lift (great with suitcases for a family of 5 for a fortnights holiday), to what can only be described as a bedsit. The shower is in the hall behind a curtain. The "lounge" contains 4 chairs and 4 single beds - not suitable for families at all. There were no glasses or bowls in the kitchen. The ridiculously loud noise (shoutingfrom the kebab and pizza shops below, plus the music from bars close by, plus drunk homeless people gathering on the street corner and arguing carried on until 4.30am. There were 2 adults and 3 kids. We had been travelling since 4am that morning and needed to sleep. What is worse, is that the cathedral (100m awaystarted ringing the bells at 7.30am the next day.... for hours. Even if you had gone with friends and stayed up drinking, you wouldnt want to be woken up to that. We literally couldnt stay so checked out THREE DAYS EARLY. We lost all our money (600 euro), that is how bad it was. NEVER, EVER STAY HERE. When we checked out they offered to swap us into a different apartment, but there was no way we could stay. It was awful. I dont have a photo, but if you look it up on Google streetview, the entrance is via the Istanbul kebab shop and the apartment is the top floor windows (4th floorabove the kebab shop... NOT the apartment block next door. (Which would have been equally as noisy to be honest. Drunk, homeless people gather to drink on the street corner).

A comfy small hotel, sparkling clean and with thoughtful extra services free of charge that came in very handy for me, like fruit, water and tea. The room came at 46€ despite my last minute booking. They also provide a small, low-priced breakfast. The staff is dedicated and friendly, Mr Rickmann and Ms Hunter helped me with everything I needed as I stranded there unexpectedly due to yesterdays storm. It seems that the management and the team truly care and that they put effort in details. Thank you.

It is so hilarious. My bathroom was outside and it was full of urine smell even though we didnt use it. Maybe the staffs ability for cleaning is not enough or they just let them open after cleaning so some people just used it.The showers floor was sandy. i felt some sand on the floor. i had too clean my own room thank you so much. And also there was that kinda thing between the faucet. i was digging down my face there to cleanse my face in the water with some magical " i dont know" ingredient.I stood up whole night to come to Köln and there is some beeping sound in the room(maybe other room soundregularly. I wanna sleep.i wont recommend it sorry man

The apartment itself wasnt in the same building as the reception, thank god we didnt have to walk far. They were very inflexible with the check in time and was quite rude about it. The lift in the building doesnt reach our floor so we had some trouble getting the luggage upstairs. Most of the things in the apartment was labelled " out of order". The only good thing was that its fairly close to the Central station. Definitely not worth the money though.

Nice room, quiet and very convenient! The bar downstairs was warm and cozy after the winter rain. Id stay here again, definitely. My only issue is the bathroom window wouldnt close so that room was so cold. The rest of the hotel was fantastic.

Warning fraudulent activity!I have booked this hotel for £250 a night for business stay of 2 nights. The rooms are dated and I would rate them 2 star status. But the oddest thing is that the place closes at 11pm without night or emergency entrance. As I left the heavy key with pendant at reception I was forced to book another hotel and come back in the morning to collect my belongings. NOBODY WARNS ABOUT THIS WHEN YOU LEAVE THE KEYS. But apparently it is printed on the T&Cs somewhere as I was rudely remembered by the manager!?!?!

I give this hotel a 2 stars maximum, there is bad smell when we entered the apartment, the apartment were at the 5th floor , but the left is to the 4th floor only , one bathroom small . Kitchen is not nice , they don’t have laundry in hotel at all . The prices is very expensive. From outside you need to search for the hotel , because from first look you see only bar , the reception is a bar . No security, not safe , the door of the apartment can be open easily or broken (it’s very weakwe were 2 days , they didn’t come to clean . It’s 2 single bed together and small ones , not comfortable actually .

Never ever book with this hotel , their double rooms for € 48 are a scam!!! We booked a double room online from the hotel website. During the booking process nothing was mentioned about their double room being in a separate location from the main hotel.Only when the payment went through we noticed on the invoice , in one of the close , that the room we selected was in a separate building from the hotel we viewed online . Basically it was a FRAUD! We phoned the hotel twice before arrival to ask if the room we booked were up to the standard they presented on their website, if they had lifts or parking, as we were traveling with music instruments, gear and cameras . We were told there was a lift , which is true for the main hotel but not for the detached double rooms.Over the phone they positively responded to the above requests, yet once we arrived we found out that where these double rooms were there was no reception, no close by parking or space to stop to unload our gear, no lift , but 4 floors of dirty, narrow staircases where we couldn’t access with our instruments and gear. The building is currently under construction or something and the smell of paint was overwhelming. We went to the main hotel reception, where we were expecting to stay and the receptionist was very apologetic, yet absolutely unhelpful . They couldn’t accomodate us in the main building where we thought we actually booked in. Even after we offered to pay an extra settlement for the eventual price difference. They didn’t offer us any refund or help of sorts after we asked .We refused to spend the night in a place where we couldn’t bring our gear and was unhygienic , dirty and with an unbearable smell of chemicals from the paint. We had to book in an other hotel. We would like to report this hotel to the competent authorities and google so that no customer has to ever go through the unpleasant, unprofessional, dishonest situation we had to experience.

I wouldnt recommend this hotel for anyone. Small rooms, small flat screen, two blocks away from the reception, there is no AC but instead they set up a tiny fan who isnt bigger than my right hand and the funny thing is that even the food aint free. Unfortunately, I couldnt get my money back...RIP OFF ALERT!!

Stayed for two nights. Booked a room with two separate beds via some hotel service site. Learned at the hotel that they only had double beds. Not a dealbreaker, yet the receptionist helped get us an appartment across the street with two bedrooms for our second night. At no extra charge. That was amazing service!

Stayed in room 22 and the "private bathroom" is actually outside the room, in the coridor. Left the hotel at 6:00am and there was anybody at the front desk. I had to unlock all the doors and leave the room key on the desk. Prior to the reservation I asked for a room without carpet, but didnt get it. Giving 2 stars for the location.

We stayed in the de luxe family appartement which is very nice spacious and clean! Friendly staff and perfect when travelling with kids! It is situated walking distance from the centre and shopping district. Also very close to underground station. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax after a long day of sight seeing, this is not the place for you. Lots of street and metro noise. Also it sounded like we had 10 people living above us! Luckily it did not bother us that much, putting on some music fixed it. The shutters on ALL windows ensured that we could sleep in. I would definitely recommend this to other travellers, if a noisy location do not bother you.

Its okay. It is not really a hotel. More like holiday flats controlled from a bar. Nice flat though. Very spacious. The beds are German standard Hard as fiberboard. Trust germans love these Hard beds. But for my fragile Viking body they are a bit to Hard. Overall a good experience, but very different from your standard 4 star experience. Not that, that is bad, Just different.

It is a lovely hotel. We stayed there for the Phil collins Not Dead Yet concert. Room is spacious. You get a free bottle of water everyday from the room service, also clean towels and sheets. The morning buffet was nice, could be better for the price of 9,80€. The location is really near anything youll need. The shopping mile is just 5 minutes from the hotel and the Kölner Dom, too.

The apartment was roomy and very close to the Dom Cathedral. However, we had no hot water at all ,and trash was left behind from the last tenants in the bathroom and that was gross. We called the front desk the night before about the hot water problem and asked if there was some trick to using the hot water. The front desk said they would send a guy downstairs to look at the water problem but in the morning, we still did not have hot water. I would also not recommend going during the summer months. The apartment was very stuffy and warm. While most of older hotels in Germany do not use AC, this apartment didnt even have fans. Also, there is construction going on across from the apartments. Because the room was so warm, the window had to be opened all the way to let cool air in. At 6am, construction guys were moving metal paneling and no one could sleep from all the noise. The front desk asked how our stay was and their reply to no hot water was just "Thanks for letting us know". We still paid full price for the room. 2 stars are just for the apartment being roomy and the location to the Dom Cathedral and the centre. If you can handle the heat and no hot water and potential noise of construction going on, this hotel would be the perfect fit.

For the most part, we really enjoyed our stay. The beds and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. I dont mind firm, but this was to an extreme. The apartment was nicely decorated, and clean. The shower could have used more attention, as there was mold in the corners . The breakfast was well worth the price, and there was a large selection for everyones taste. The location is perfect for exploring Cologne, and we will definitely be back. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! The service, the care, and the accommodations were very much appreciated.

I was only in for a brief stay, but had no larger complaints. The staff was nice and friendly, and the room was in good condition.Only tidbit is that there was no form of air conditioning in the double room I stayed in, so it got a bit hot on a warm day. Opening the window helped some, but theres a fountain right outside that causes quite a bit of noise. It does get shut off during the night though, which is good.Other than that the stay was enjoyable. The hotel is in a central area which brings a lot of convenience, and its very close to the cathedral which sure is a sight!

The Hotel location is fine, breakfast is fine too but those are the only positive things that stays at the back of my head.
