Doherty's Irish Pub & Restaurant in Raleigh

Came with a friend and LOVED the food. Everything was amazing, and our server Austin was very attentive. Highly recommend to anyone in Cary. Their shrimp puppies were especially good.

Our current favorite place for brunch! Love their Bloody Mary bar and the fish and chips are the best! The batter is light and crunchy and the fish is always perfectly cooked! The corned beef and cabbage is pretty good. The French onion soup is reliably delicious and their brunch fare is impressive. Also, if youre looking for a traditional English breakfast, this is the closest youre going to get in the area-- complete with bangers, rashers, beans, and grilled mushrooms and tomatoes!

Food was good but service outside was really slow.

If I were rating only the fish and chips, I would give it a one. There was very little fish and a LOT of breading in addition to it being very greasy. We would never order it again. The green beans were tasteless. When we complained to the waiter, he asked if he could bring us dessert.The shepherd’s pie was delicious. It was very tasty!

My friend recommended this place, and Im so glad I went. Their Fish & Chips is to die for, I loved it so much. And Im not a fish person! My mother really enjoyed the Doherty Melt, and my partner liked the Whiskey Burger. Their cranberry margarita was very good as well. I am definitely going back, I highly recommend this place.

Truly amazing!!! This is our second time here and the food is great!! Our server Heather is wonderful and her recommendations are spot on. It’s gonna be fun trying something new again and again. Kudos to management and the superb chef and staff!!! Thank you!

My husband and I have been ordering take out every since we moved here over a year ago and we absolutely love their fish and chips. Its our favorite thing to order!

We found this gem the last few months we lived in N.C., and all I can say is I wished we would’ve found it sooner! Awesome staff, great Irish bar with cool setting and (HANDS DOWNsome of The Best Food around!!! Our favorite dishes are their Gaelic Steak Medallions and their Brisket Poutine!!! OMG, we miss this place so much! We moved back to O-H-I-O, but next time we’re in the Raleigh area, we will definitely make a special stop to this amazing place! Great drinks and Irish ☘️ celebrations too for St. Patty’s Day!!!

Delicious! The shepard’s pie, fish and chips, bread pudding, and brisket are all stellar. Make reservations so you aren’t waiting during peak hours.

They have seasonal menu options that rotate, and they were delicious. They can sub a gluten free bun on their sandwiches but only 3-4 gluten free items. Still, it was tasty!

I really loved almost all the food here, the bangers and mash and brisket poutine especially. Only knock on the place was the server forgetting items and never refilling water. He was nice, just a bit spaced out I guess.

The staff anticipates your needs and even when the place is hopping you feel like you are at your neighborhood "Cheers" pub. The fact that the food is amazing is just icing on the cake!

Great food and atmosphere ... we needed a spot on that side of Raleigh to watch opening match of EPL. Fun little spot.

Always a great place to grab a pint and chat with friends or watch a game. The food is very good, be sure to get the brisket poutine if you like loaded fries. From the traditional Irish item to the standard bar dishes, most all are excellent. We havent had a bad dish here ever. Check their calendar for game nights and live entertainment.

First time visit and couldnt have asked for a better experience! Our waitress, Liz, was incredibly kind and attentive. The menu had so much I wanted to try that it was hard to pick just one meal and Tuesdays music bingo was a blast!

The Irish egg rolls were amazing. Service was very good. When I asked for a box to take half of my spinach and goat cheese salad home, our server asked if I would like a container of dressing for it. That rarely happens! And you can get a Snake Bite (Guinness and cider), a Black and Tan, or a Half and Half. We felt like we were in Ireland again. We will be back!

Absolute must do in Cary. Words can not describe how wonderful this place is, food and staff are remarkable.

The fish and chips really are the best in the triangle. The breading is light and crispy, the fries are crunchy and delicious. The Irish egg rolls are really very good as well as the poutine. The boxty was also excellent. I wish we could have tried the cheesecake of the day, but we were stuffed. Beer and whiskey selection was good too!

This place is fantastic. Had the fish & chips...delicious. the best was the chocolate mousse...OMG. the only thing better was the service. I am in love with Brian S.

Great fish and chips and cocktail options.

We came here for Fathers Day Brunch/Buffet. They had their stellar fried fish, green beans, corned beef hash, prime rib, and many other choices...plus a lot of dessert choices. I wasnt too crazy about the prime rib...it was a bit over done and tough, but the rest of the bar was very good. The service, as per usual, was amazing. Would highly recommend.

We sat outside and all shared a bunch of appetizers to split around the four of us.Everything was quite good, definitely would go back over and over to continue going through the menu.Personal favorite were the boxties, which in Dohertys version were more crepe than pancake with delicious savory fillings. We had the trio sampler and all flavors were good, but if I had to pick a favorite the horseradish beef would take it hands down.Interior was clean and spacious, service was friendly and competent, bathrooms clean. What more could you ask for?

I cant say enough great things about Dohertys in Cary. The food speaks for itself as it is fresh and delicious. I wish I could give the team that works there 10 stars. Joe, Marisa, Alyssa, Brian and Frenchie go way beyond the call of duty when it comes to making a guest feel at home. Thank you for the great food and service. Great place to enjoy some bar food and Irish beers. Service was very friendly. The TVs were a bit loud playing sports. I got there at closing time but they were all very happy to see me!

Forgot to take a picture but the food was phenomenal. My husband and I are big Irish pub fans and we are regulars at one back home. We loved that there was a kids menu with plenty of options and they brought out his food first (he was hangrywhich is something we normally dont do. I got the stew and only thing Id change is having some bread/biscuit on the side for the gravy! But the Doherty melt was the best!

Had an excellent experience here today! Our server, who as I recall was named Rick/Ricky, was phenomenal. Was very attentive and made sure our drinks were full and recommended a seasonal menu item (pan seared cod with lemon caper saucethat my girlfriend loved. I had the corned beef and cabbage which was also delicious. Cant believe I havent yet heard of this hidden gem in Cary. Will definitely be returning. Great atmosphere and great food.

Great food, drinks and service. We thoroughly enjoyed the goat cheese salad and the pan seared cod with lemon caper sauce alongside a KA-BAR Brown Ale and a Carolina Mule. Recommend revisiting.

Generic Irish pub. Our waitress was the best part of the meal. Nothing was bad but nothing was great either. I had the Donegal boxty- the filling was tasty but the outside was rubbery. A fine place to grab a beer and chips if youre not expecting too much.

Fast and friendly service, wide variety of tasty food, and great authentic pub vibes! Definitely feels like your neighborhood Cheers bar. Pro tip: Check their website for weekly events like music trivia and weekly live irish music - one of our favorite things to do in Cary. I personally love their dill salmon salad, which is a great low carb option. My FAVORITE thing about Dohertys though is how fast and helpful they were in responding to some of my questions about the menu. Keep up the great work yall!

Hopping on a Monday night. Perfect place to decompress after a workday. Great bar service. Ordered the salmon salad and dirty martini. Both on point.

I had a great experience. It was nice. I enjoyed the fish and chips. It needed a little salt for me, but other than that, I enjoyed the fresh flakiness of it. The green beans were also very good. So, one of the employees asked me to try the casamigos tequila. It was very smooth and nice. It had a hint of vanilla. That was a great selection. The ambiance was nice; the bartender Ricky was amazing, of course. I will definitely come back.

This place have good food on the menu. We went on Sunday night and it was easy to get booth and it was quite. I absolutely loved the Irish eggs they had and the blue chips with Buffalo sauce were a bomb. We also had couple of other dishes and they were good. We came at 9 but we ran out of time to try entrees. We will be back to try others for sure. Overall it’s a good place to visit and have good time.

Dohertys was a FANTASTIC FIND! My husband and I enjoyed everything about this place. The service was golden, everyone was so pleasant. The food was hearty, delicious, well prepared and beautifully presented. The drinks were nice and smooth and the music/live entertainment was fitting. We will definitely be back.

Speechless! But, I got the full service! Pub Sliders(5), Irish Eggrolls,(5), Gaelic Steak Medallions (5), Celtic Cordon Bleu (5), and beer selection (4.5and the Irish Coffee Selection (5)!!! Basically anything with an Irish term on it grab it! The flavors on their Irish dishes will be satisfaction! Flavors create such an aroma that fills the back of the throat and through your nasal cavity its a penetrating satisfaction! The hospitality of the servers I witnessed 4 of the ladies on 10/28/21 were excellent and I give them a (5)! Best beer btw I had was the Brown Beer Ale! Enjoy the photos! This is the place to go for a fresh fantastic pint and some delicious meats. Seriously if you like your Guinness cold and poured right you know how much a delicious meat focused dish compliments it. The Steak Medallions are tender and juicy, the Beef Stew is like savory gravy soup and my favorite Shepards Pie is an absolutely to-die-for fluffy meaty goodness (even though it really should be called a Cottage Pie). Also you cant go wrong with their fish and chips, and I always recommend saving room for their Baileys Chocolate Mousse. Mmmm.Lest I forget, the staff here has always been welcoming and super friendly. In these difficult times they are accommodating if you want to sit indoors our outdoors. Do note that like most restaurants they could use a few more hands helping around--so all the niceness comes about as a result of extra hard work. Please be patient and remember to tip your servers!

Great Irish pub! Staff and service was excellent! I had the corned beef and cabbage. It was wonderful. Coworker had the Reuben sandwich with pub chips. He was loved both. He said the chips were great, "finally a pub that actually makes pub chips!" Beer was cold and tasty! Well worth going to wherever you are. They also have numerous whiskeys on tap. We didnt try any but if it was like everything else, Im sure they were great too

First time coming here and it was excellent, well definitely be back. We had our 2 young kids with us and asked to get a booth which they accommodated. We got the shrimp hush puppies as an appetizer and they are AMAZING. I got the turkey club as a wrap and my husband got their burger. The food was very good. Next time I think Ill try the sweet potato fries instead since these were pretty plain. My kids got Fish & Chips and Chicken Finger & fries. My daughters chicken fingers were pretty bland but my other daughter loved the fish sticks. They accidentally charged us for the kids juice that was included in their kids meal but the manager fixed it and removed it from the check. The server was nice.

Great food and service. The staff is very down to earth and knows how to keep a good rapport with customers. This was my first time there as I was going off a recommendation from a coworker to try their fish and chips plate for lunch. The food tasted amazing, the portions are very generous and the overall environment is welcoming from the moment you step in. Would totally recommend trying this pub out especially for lunch breaks.

Excellent meal delivered. Husband did the half order of fish and chips. The fish was excellent, crispy, and a nice portion size when you dont want a ton of fried food but are craving it. The fries were good, generous. The green beans were cooked perfectly, still crispy with a nice hit of garlic. I did the celtic cordon bleu which is filled with corned beef Rockefeller and it was excellent. The mashed potatoes were tasty and the broccoli was just tender enough. Would get both again.

Great service, well stocked liquor bar with a half dozen taps. Seating inside, at the bar, and outside tables as well. We choose the bar. We ordered a lunch portion fish and chips (french fries), which also came with green beans sautéed in garlic, real tasty. We also ordered the Killarney, it was fantastic. It too came with green beans it also had bite sized potato croquettes, neither of us enjoyed those. Bar tender was on it! Drinks were never empty and he checked on us frequently. Great place!

I was craving fish and chips and a quick search brought up Dohertys as well as a few others. After reading others reviews and checking out the menu I quickly settled here and I was not disappointed.Upon arrival at 6 on a Friday night we were quickly greeted and informed there was a small wait for a table. No problem as it was good to see the restaurant was packed full. Our wait time was shorter than our quoted time and when brought to our table we were promptly greeted. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the chefs special. The chefs special sounded so good my wife ordered it with looking at the rest of the menu.We order a round of drinks that contained a Carolina Mule and a Dublin Mule. Both lived up to the description and were good value for price. I came determined to order Fish and Chips and even though I was swayed by so many good choices in the menu I decided on my original plan.Fish and chips delivered and I was floored by the portion! Two huge pieces of fish, lots of fries AND hericot very (green beans). Fish has a light but crisp beer batter that held up to being dunked in their tartar sauce. Tartar sauce BTW was amazing. The fish was very flavorful as were the garlic green beans. Fried were fries and not "special" but they complimented the meal perfectly.We will most certainly be back to try all the other items on the menu, however when the Fish and Chips mood strikes again, I will be sure to return here to fill my needs!

This place is such a pleasant surprise. When I think of pubs, I think of okay food but good drinks. This couldn’t be further from the truth for Doherty’s. The food was perfectly seasoned, generously portioned, and deliciously flavored. We had the Beer & Bourbon Onion Rings but then spicy ketchup they come with steal the show. We also had the seasonal Chicken Fried Porkchops which were a tad spicy but the corn topping was incredible. Lastly, we had the Fish and Chips; and if you like fish you HAVE to have the Fish and Chips. The fish is brilliantly breaded and the portion size is very generous! For dessert we had the black cherry cheesecake which is made by a local baker and it was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had! I cannot wait to return.

Absolute perfection. The fish and chips were superb! Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and wonderful food what more would/could you ask for. Dont change a single thing.

Great food and great atmosphere. The fish and chips were literally life changing. We also enjoyed the pub burger, the Guinness stew, and the grilled Reuben. If you have any room left in your stomach the Guinness chocolate brownie sundae was fantastic and HUGE. Great size for sharing. The live music in the evenings (check the website for the scheduleis also a great feature not to be missed.

The fish and chips had generous portions. The fish was meaty and crispy. The fries were also hot and crisp. The Irish egg rolls were a tasty snack made of corned beef sauerkraut and cheese stuffed into an egg roll. Something different but good. I highly recommend these two dishes. The servers were friendly and the seating was comfortable. It was not overly crowded. they had a good selection of craft beers on draft and a long list of cocktails. Overall I had a pretty good experience here and would come back.
