Dogstar in Padilla

Charged me £5 to go back in whrn I was there 10 mins ago. Security said he didnt see me even though he saw my friend, and I spoke to the guy and asked if I could go out and back in earlier?! How does that make sense?!Find a better pub.

I used to go here about 28 years ago and it was buzzing every night. Sadly it wasnt when I returned yesterday. I hope thats not the trend. Me and my mates have great memories of fun times back in the day. 🤷

Tidy well presented bar. Open later than turnout at the academy and not as expensive as london bars can be.

Gin special is a shout, sharelle was great and lovely at the bar, really lively made me feel comfortable as I was here alone. The supervisor Chris was also awesome being helpful and accommodating, rochelle the hot one was giving me shuffle vibes overall the bar is a good spot. Definitely go back

Reasonable pub with pool table. Plays the key sporting events on a large projected screen - good for atmosphere on those occasions.Let down by poor range of on-tap drinks.Good pizzas - for two of you: try the Mozzarella Garlic Bread (£6and one pizza (£6-12to share for a value-for-money option. Bargain!

Lots of fun with a decent outside area and plenty of room to dance!

Put a pound in the pool table. Nothing happened. Spoke to the bartender whosaid “yeah it’s broken”. When I said maybe there should be a sign saying it is broken, she looked confused… didn’t say anything else or said she would talk to management or I don’t know…maybe offer to give us the pound back!I mean come on, how much disdain do you need to have for your customers not to tape a piece of paper saying “broken”? Or train your staff to use common sense on the spot! As a bar manager I find this weird. Antic pubs, you can do better! Can’t you?

Old school style pub. Only popped in for a quick one but nice place, friendly staff, and some good beer choices. Dog friendly too.

Great pub, friendly and spacious. Very attentive to my friends dog. As they don’t have a kitchen you allowed to order food from outside.

The manager at dogstar said my black friend was too drunk - he was the most sober in our group. He had to get an Uber home.

Cool pub, good beers, but the bar staff think youre doing them a favour when buying a drink....

Michelle was an absolute diamond, give this woman at least 3 raises, she was the kindest security member Ive ever met and I honestly think I love her. Great vibe all round.

Just popped in for a pint , its more like a night club really . Im 62 so am unsure about going there in the evening . Quite a seedy looking venue , badly needs revamping very empty . May go back , but not in the evening . Far to night clubish. I went thereon the 18th of Oct, yesterday , I rather felt quite intimidated for some reason I could not work out why Disturbingly worrying.

This was my 2nd time at the Dogstar after many years, and each time its been a great night out. Unpretentious, welcoming, a friendly eclectic crowd & most importantly fantastic music from great djs.

First visit. Friendly staff, However the security lady did not accept me being exempt from wearing a mask even though I had my exempt pass wearing. Didnt want to let me in. Saying "she had a disability also".. I couldnt be bothered to argue the point that the government website said you do not need to prove you are exempt. I will not be going there again. I felt forced to wear a mask and just took me right back to a few years when I was assaulted by two gunmen who restrain me and took all of my belongings even my trainers. I literally felt sick. Because it was my best friends birthday I went in sat down and literally steered into space. Felt really hurt. People just judge you if you dont wear a mask but the trauma I experienced prevents me from having any cover over my face. They dont know what you have been through or why you are exempt and treat you so unfairly.

Took half an hour to get first drink after already ordered and paid for. Saw a lot of customers come in after us and get two rounds of drinks in before us. Very loud, couldnt hear each other speak. Friendly staff- just not very efficient with timing and was told as we waited so long, that we would get a discount on our drinks- but this didnt happen.

Not what it used to be, but still a decent pub with reasonably priced beer. Its now part of the Antic chain, which means £3.3 pints of their own Volden bitter, but no longer hosts live music or serves pizza. The food options are really limited: the only vegetarian option is a synthetic hamburger and the rest of the menu is mostly burgers, fish and chips, sausage and mash.Still, its hard to get into a pub these days, especially on this busy corner of Brixton, so Ill probably be going back as the Dogstar is big enough to host a lot of drinkers while complying with social distancing.

Fresh, cold beer from Brixton Brewery (and others), friendly staff and a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere. Many students and workers from nearby creative businesses are mixing with locals.

£5 entry on a Saturday evening. The music is decent upstairs (Afro House, Afrobeats), but the entire venue is so poorly maintained it’s not worth it. Very dirty and sticky.

Enjoyment has found a sanctuary,that venue should be listed.

Always have great old school tunes with a mix of new songs. Nice setup and cool lights inside.Open till late which is great for a longer night out

I think the Dogstar is probably a lot of fun, but things didnt start to kick off until late. Theres a pool room and smoking area at the back. They were just making room to dance when we left

Went for a drink as Mike skinner (the streetssings about this place, staff couldnt be more helpful best pub I have been to in years!

Friday night. Dance floor so sticky you struggle to walk let alone dance. All 8 beers on draft was off. Even the brixton brewery lager. Five quid for the tiny hipster craft stuff.instead. Average music. Inept DJing. So disappointing. And they charged a fiver to get in. TOILET ATTENDANTS IN 2019. Really?SERIOUSLY!

I was really enjoying this venue until they said we could no longer have our bottles of prosecco in a glass bottle and served it in what I can only describe as a plastic urinal bottle. Who does that?

One of my friends and I celebrated our 30s recently at Dog Star Brixton and everything in terms of organisation and communication with them was very easy. There were no misunderstandings and everyone we came along was very helpful and supportive.We went twice to see the room we hired. And we never saw a bad face or they complained for that.On the partys day we went at midday to decorate the place and bring the food. The person who attended us that day was really friendly, helpful and answered all our last minute questions. She was great! During the party they provided us security at our rooms door and the person in charge over night I thinks it was Tommy- sorry if its not right- came many times during the party to check we were all fine. Also when we got the minimum expense they communicated that to us and gave us the money back when the party finished. The bar tenders were really friendly with everyone who came to our birthday and when there wasnt something they were asked for they went downstairs with no complaints to bring it upstairs for our guests. It said a lot about their job and how much they care about their clients.Before leaving the room the staff made sure we got everything we brought and checked no one left anything behind.My friend and I are very happy about the choice we did to celebrate our birthday at Dog Star Brixton. All our friends really liked the place and how everything was organised. So it comes our recommendation and our review if you have any doubts if Dog Star Brixton is the right place for your next party. Absolutely YES!Thanks guys! See you soon!Andrea and Noelia.

Spacious, friendly staff, good selection behind the bar.. Quite during the week and the weekends are mental. You get all walks of life in this space as it stays open till 4am. So when evety where else closes, they all come crawling to this joint. Security are on point. There are 3 different rooms. All woth a different vibe.They also have a massive screen for sports watching, if thats what youre into.And unlike most pubs/clubs that smell of sticky beer, this place is cleanamd smell good. Thumbs up from me 😊

Guinness and beer is decent prices. Atmosphere is good and multicultural. Three rooms play different music and the pub is quite big which also includes a smoking area outside. Very Brixton in regards to the mix of people that come together for a for a drink. Snobs are not welcome here and to be honest they wouldnt come anyway. Nice community fee and they show sports on 4 big screens

Ive been coming here fir a few years now and have enjoyed it. Sadly I had a really awful experience here on Saturday 15 december when the woman on the upstairs bar took it upon herself to throw away my nearly full drink that was placed months bar, despite the fact she could see me standing right next to it, albeit with my back turned.I understand that licenced establishments need to keep an eye out fornunattended drunks etc but in this situation it waa blindly obvious that it was mine. Furthermore, short of putting ones drinking the floor there is literally no other surface upon which to put a drink and there is no obvious notice on the bar to warn customers not to place drinks there. Are customers really expected to put drinks on the floor or dance the night away whilst holding them in their hand?When I asked what had happened to it I was shocked my the womans obvious delight in doing this. She was practically laughing at me and was clearly relishing the meanness. I simply told her that I thought her response was not nice and walked away but it left me fuming and spoiled my evening.Please could I urge the managers to rethink their policy on drinks left on the bar or at the very least make it clear that drinks will be thrown away.The member of staff in question would also be better suited to a job that does not involved contact with customers.

Stunningly rude/ abrasive manager Joey. After playing a quick game of pool with a friend he refused to give me back the £10 deposit for the pool cues as one of them didnt have a tip on the end (they had been given to me like that). Was very macho, powertripping and aggressive about it, and refused to check the cctv to see that I hadnt done anything to the pool cue. Awful attitude. Plenty of alternative bars in the area with much nicer staff.

It’s a fun late night spot. Lots of space to hang out. Decor is fun. Bartenders are sexy and rude but a cool rude, like you want it kinda rude. Toilets smell, of course, but it’s where the beer you’re gunna overdrink will go so FINE!

Really average where the bouncers act like they run the place. Staff are rude and queues are too long for what is essentially a lounge with a second rate DJ. There are far better places in London to spend your night in.

Big pub with multiple function rooms and a great selection of beer on tap. Decor was looking a bit tired and the stairs down to the toilets were a bit step and narrow. Staff were really nice and friendly.

A large pub in the heart of Brixton. During the day, its relatively quiet, but evenings are often pretty busy. It has a backroom with a pool table (picturedand table football (also pictured), and theres a decent selection of beers on tap. My only gripes are the seats in the backroom are pretty uncomfortable and it gets pretty cold, especially in the backroom but event in the main bar area, in the winter. Other than that, its a fine place for a drink.

Went there for the Halloween weekend. Reserved a table beforehand as it gets busy. Staff made sure the area was all clean and tidy when we arrived. Drinks are a good price and there is 3 rooms playing different music. Plenty of dancing space so your able to have a good time. Remember to bring photograph id with you

Popped in here for a drink as we had half an hour to kill on a Friday evening. The staff were friendly and the pub was nice but nothing special. I dont regret going there but I wont be rushing back.

Its the Dog - cheerful spot for a bit of a dance or to watch the footie on the protector. Their pizzas are nice thin crust and decent when they havent run out. Theres been a bit of staff turnover so service is slow, orders have been mixed up and they charged my mate £3 for a pint of soda water! Ill keep going for the Apples & Pears cider on tap, but hope they get the issues sorted soon.

went here for a leaving do for some friends - the music was good the staff were great at their job whilst there was so many people at the bar ..thinking about it i was going to dock a star for the people but thats not the bars fault. The people at this place many of them are very very rude and despite being a large man i still found myself being jostled away from the bar by skinny little wanna be girls that seemed to think they had presidence because they were skinny little girls .. the bar staff had other ideas though and i watched them actively ignore the line pushers so for that alone i salute them and this place.

Pub was freezing cold, beer options are really, really limited, food menu was poor and the pizza I had tasted very bland.Seems to attract quite friendly people though and they have a fairly good games room with pool and foosball table.This pub has so much potential and could be so much better than it is.

Such an amazing atmosphere!!!!I was there recently, and it was quite impressive. Music is great, pizza is amazing and staff is brilliant. They even have a pool table!!! Definitely the place to go in Brixton, from sports to late night out Dogstar does the job perfectly.Such an amazing atmosphere!!!!

Attended quite a few events here from birthdays, club nights to craft markets, comedy shows.Good atmosphere, great food, great night life.Is also a nice chilled pub during the week.Door staff & bar staff are lovely.Show sportsHave a games room & a pinball machine.Good for a relaxed drink and for nights out.

Absolutely love it here. The pizza is good, they have the best tasting cider I have ever had, staff is great and service is quick. I have the most amazing nights on the weekend, love the music and the atmosphere and the doorstaff are friendly. What more could you ask for

Great all round pub! Good beers and tasty cheap pizza! Lots of nice little hidey holes you can gather in, music nights upstairs and theyve got a projector for when the football/rugby games

I booked the ballroom here for my 30th. Getting the decks and 3 microphones for my 3 MCs was going to be challenging, the staff took care of everything and treated me like a prince. The security was really really nice to me (makes a change from other placesand the night turned into the best birthday party I have ever had! I would highly recommend booking your event here.

If you are in the mood for a potentially messy night then this place is actually quite fun. Easy enough to get a table early on but be warned tables are moved away later on when the place packs out. Its a fiver to get in after 11. The music is eclectic and can go from old school R&B to cheesy hip-hop to chart to DnB in a matter of songs. Can feel a bit grimy at times but if you dont mind a bit of a sweaty crush then you can have a good night here.
