Haddon Grange, Orton Grange, Dalston, Carlisle CA5 6LB, Carlisle
Chain retailer of garden products, many locations with plant nurseries, food halls and restaurants.
Lovely lunch in the cafe, helpful staff and great food.
I enjoy my day at dobbies the food was nice and there was plenty to look at..
A typical Dobbies.good range of products,fair prices.very good cafe.
Only stopped here to grab some lunch. Toasted sandwich was quickly prepared and was very tasty. At £11odd for a toasted sandwich and a coffee I thought it was quite pricey, but otherwise it was good.
Lovely place for a visit and a coffee/catch-up with a friend. Friendly staff on both counter and cafe
Sale on plants when we where there selling them for a pound. Unbeatable value
Nice well stocked shop and very reasonably priced for what we wanted a re visit is very likely 👍😁
Great place with a wide range of plants and gardening stuff as well as restaurant and a mini Sainsburys!
Good selection of autumn plants but quite expensive although the plants are well cared for so unlike others they may last.
Good selection of plants for this time of year but if you are using the restaurant, beprepared for a good wait to pay for your food. There were people in the queue to pay with full breakfasts that must have been cold by the time they had paid.
Very good snd extensive garden centre. Staff helpful. Stock well laid out. Thank you.
Just had afternoon tea, apart from everything being very fresh the staff were lovely & it is fab value for money, highly recommend.
Had a very enjoyable lunch which was served quickly and efficiently. Had a relaxing look around the rest of the garden centre and was served by a very pleasant Geordie lady on the till.
We went to the restaurant to eat. The staff member went out of her way to suggest and offer the best option and served us with a smile. Apart from that we always enjoy the layout and the atmosphere of this garden centre and instore.. Well done Carlisle Dobbies..!
The lady on the food till always friendly and cheerful,I enjoyed the caramel latte and my friend had the same but also a bacon and egg bap which looked delicious 😋
Nice cafe. Got some nice plants too. Staff very helpful. 👍.
Went here to stock up on supplies before heading to our campsite a few minutes away. Dog friendly like all Dobbies are. Theres also part of the restaurant where you can take your dog. So that was a bonusThe Sainsburys is pricey and the worst on the high street but thats for another review.Dobbies is great.
Only discovered this place ,was surprised by the size of the place .It has so much in there, its like an Aladdins cave but much better, mainly a garden center ,but sells groceries and and homeware. Best place to buy fish tropical and cold water, and theres a cafe as well food was lovely . Will be going back very soon.
Good range of products available for all areas of your garden. Staff are friendly and helpful. Also available is a branch Maidenhead Aquatics, again, staff are friendly and helpful.Well worth a visit, even if its just for a wander around or pop into the cafe
Bit over priced but good plants, I only go there for tropical fish in the aquatic department ( maidenhead aquatics )
Came to Dobbies garden centre to see the maidenhead aquatics as we are building a pond. So glad we did....the advice was excellent and professional. Mike went out of his way to give us great advice on picking the right pump and filters and lights for our pond. Very satisfied customers. Well done Mike!
A mini Sainsburys, kitchenware, garden furniture, aquariums and fish, plants both indoors and outdoors, Edinburgh woollen mill on site, toys and books for the kids with a zip line. Best of all is the cafe/ restaurant. Good food friendly staff. Even better value if you get a Dobbies card, two free hot drinks every month. Can be busy on the weekends
An excellent garden centre. Good choice of plants and typically garden centre goods for sale In the main shopping area. Clothes shop on site. A very good restaurant on site and is reasonably priced. An outdoor playground for the children
Have visited this garden centre many times, and will continue to do so. Excellent stock with some good bargains on certain garden furniture items. Friendly, helpful staff. Recommended
Great garden centre. Darren and his staff are so helpful and friendly they cant do enough for you. The staff are always happy and smiling its a lovely place to visit. The store is clean and well stocked and very organised. Well done to all the staff you are a credit to Dobbies. Ps we take our two little dogs Teddie and Paisley, they love going there and getting made a fuss of by the lovely staff. See you all soon. Kevin, Karen, Teddie and Paisley. Ynwa
Love this place free parking helpful staff plenty of items to look at and buy. Also have a great cafe
Love visiting here with my elderly mother. They have a good range of products, lovely little sainsburys in store with fantastic offers. The tills did keep playing up causing huge queues but the lady serving us was great. She was so lovely to mum and told her not to rush.. Its not aldi.. Or other well known shops. She even helped us pack.. Wish all your staff could be so attentive, Id not seen her before..but shes a real asset.
Me and my youngest daughter love this store, love the plants mostly, you can spend ages going round here so much to look at and there is a cafe,it can be quite expensive there but the food is brilliant and the cakes are just heavenly.
Great day out with our grandson a snack in the cafe good selection of food for us and child great tropical fish selection and lots of plants and gardening equipment then softplay area for an hour which grandson loved
Great place to chill , get a bite to eat, shop for garden plants and kitchen ware. Staff are a good source of info about the plants and how best to place and care for them in your garden.
I was very happy to have found this place. It was full of all the things you would expect to find at the garden centre. I would say it is on a par price wise with other garden centres. I did manage to get everything I wanted including pet food and wild bird products. They also had some outerwear gifts toys and candles. There is a food hall and a place to eat and have a coffee. The staff were very pleasant and Im already looking forward to my next visit.
Dobbies has a big cafe and gifts, cards toys and earthware, its very popular. Splendid ideas well worth a visit.
Quality of food was fine but they were so short staffed that the queue was large and the wait to pay meant everything was luke warm by the time we were able to eat it. They did their best but serving whilst also making the sandwiches/paninis/jackets etc is bound to cause delays. Also 1 person on checkout at busy times is just ridiculous. Put more staff on at lunchtime Dobbies.
Really nice popped in for food• but we were late i think they stop serving food at 2:30 and proceed later on.Loved the shop whilst waiting for food.
This is a great place to browse but always way over the top expensive to buy. Did however purchase "chelsea" advertised peat free compost but never again. Dries out almost immediately you water it and plants fail to thrive as a result
Massive range of plants aswell as a little cafe and shop inside. Kids playground to the rear. Fair prices. Something for everyone.
This is for the Cafe / Restaurant the service apart from 1 lady was shocking. We ordered a latte and tea I asked if I could get a clean saucer as it was dirty. The lady serving didnt even say sorry no problem just put it on another dirty saucer and pushed it at me. I order a chicken & sweetcorn soup and when starting to eat it was nearly cold!! The time was only 14.45pm so and the staff must be wanting to go home as they had next to no choice left then serving cold soup shocking dobbies you really need to sort it out..
Awful meal, considerably worse than most motorway service stations and twice the priceNearly all of the items on sale here are well over priced compared with others outlets including plants and garden accessoriesIt was quite good the first time we visited a few years ago but we certainly wont be in a hurry to go back again
Grubby, no atmosphere, filthy floor. Was nice when first opened with lovely displays, good healthy plants and original giftware. Now rather expensive and mediocre. Getting through checkout is a long wait. Want a terrific garden centre experience, compare this place to Barton Grange near Preston. Chalk & cheese!
Nice plants for outdoors only downfall had to wait 20 mins to get served need more staff on tills
Great selection of plants and lots of homeware and gifts to browse. Large cafe, kids indoor and outdoor play areas and a sainsbury on site.
Met with friends at the café. Staff were friendly but very abrupt when trying to get our info for the collect and trace. After that they were lovely and helpful. The coffee was good. Food was ok, although it does cost a lot for a very simple toasty with a mediocre side salad.Indoor play is open again and good for younger kids. There is a small park outside too which is good for little ones & slightly older childrenShop has some good items in and lovely displays. We do miss the original farm shop, not as keen on the sainsburys in there!
By our Lord Aurelian the stars do not represent the exceptional the one member of the cafe staff whom by the grace of the eight fold path was very good. Very friendly, approachable and patience in abundence. She will surely be blessed by raised to daemonhood. The rest, blah...
A very good garden centre, much to see, very large variety of plants, trees and everything for the garden, a well stocked aquarium department with a large variety of fish, last but certainly not least tea room serving cold or hot lovely delicious homemade food, well worth a visit
The range of plants available is wide, and all were displayed well. Most plants were in good condition, apart from some in an exposed part of the Centre which had suffered in the wind the previous day and needed watering. Coffee was very good.
Excellent staff very helpful and a fantastic Aquatics Centre as well.
Went in to try the restaurant.Glad we visited the toilets first...if thats the level of cleanliness seen in the public domain, I dread to think what the kitchens are like.Paper all over the floorExcrement all over toilets, I mean to be fair thats the people who have been using the facilities fault but surely they could be checked. One of the toilet seats was so rough and jagged it looked like it would cause an injury if anyone sat on it.Come on, prices charged in the garden centre surely you can provide safe loo seats???
We went for lunch. The que for food was ok. It wasnt clear that the staff were ready to take order, but once they were, we were served straight away. The food was really good. The only thing was there were no glasses to put our drinks in. We were given some when we asked. The toilet facilities were clean. The shop had a variety of goods. Sainsburys part was well stocked, and I managed to buy goods that I cannot get in main supermarket.
This place is just so poorly run. Food choices in the canteen are poor and with an inept system; staff can be very rude; the soft play closes randomly with a notice that deep cleaning is in progress (which a member of staff admitted to me was just a blag for not having staff to cover it); I once paid £10 for 2 bars of chocolate; and today I was told they had no bags at the checkout. YOU. ARE. A. SHOP. GET. SOME. BAGS!
Cafe was perfect. Clean and lovely scones and coffee.Sadly the ladies toilets were just awful...see photos. Such a let down for Dobbies.
