Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken in Chicago

Must visit. The donuts were so good. They got my order wrong but that’s okay it was immediately corrected. Breakfast sandwiches with glazed donuts were surprisingly very tasteful. Inside the place is so small so I wouldn’t recommend eating inside. There are around small tables outside where you can enjoy your donuts.

The employees are really great, had a great experience with the gent up front and the chef! I ordered a sandwich super spicy, she could see I was struggling and grabbed a bottle of water for me really quick! That’s customer service! While you had a customer who already enjoys your food, now you really have a customer for life! Thanks Chef!-Patrick

You could probably power a small city for a week with the calories in this one chicken sandwich, but hey, no one lives forever! The sweet and savory was a good combination and it wasn’t greasy at all like I was expecting!

Favorite Donuts in Chicago (so far at least)! The gluten free options are very good as well. They also have quality coffee. I definitely recommend trying them out!

My first time to this place was Sunday 09/25 at around 10am. I chose this place because I love donuts and it was only a 5 minute walk from my hotel downtown. Upon entering the cramped interior I was greeted by a kind woman that handled my expensive online order quickly. 1 original chicken sandwich (Bland1 spicy chicken sandwich with avocado (Not spicy at all, flavorless and an extra $2 for 2 Thin slivers of avocado1 large coffee and 5 (Mediocredonuts for $44. Nothing was worth the money. I truly feel like do-rite, Did-Wrong. How they have 4.7 stars is beyond my understanding but I wont be back. Thats for sure. Please dont make the same mistake I did. Choose better.

The chicken strips are so Juicy and crispy on the outside. The donuts are so big and really delicious.

Fully loaded doughnuts!!! I had coconut dream and didnt realize it was filled with coconut custard. Delightful. I also had the bacon breakfast sandwich. YUM!!!!!! Well worth a visit.

We ordered the Ms Piggy (breaded pork tenderloin, brioche bun, mustard and pepper relish), the fried chicken sandwich (crisp and flavorful, pickle, mayo, lettuce, bread & butter pickles), Bacon Maple Donut and then an Michigan Apple Fritter. Everything was really really good!

I was in Chicago for the weekend and was told, “if you like Chicken and Waffles, but want something light, go to Do-Rite!”I knew that this day in particular I was going to be eating a lot: taco festival, Al’s Beef, Chinatown, followed by some amazing hot dogs…I knew I had to pace myself!Upon walking in around 10:30 AM on a Saturday, the shop was filled to the max; despite that it moved quick– we were in line for all of five minutes, maybe even less.I ordered a “spicy original” on a glazed donut. It was great! The only complaint was the glazed donut made the sandwich fall apart easily, but that doesn’t bother me. The sweet nor the spicy/savory were too dominant, it was as if it perfectly complemented the other.My Aunt got a Cinnamon Crunch Old Fashioned, and she really enjoyed it too.

When it comes to Chicago donuts, IMHO no one compares to DoRites.Conveniently located in Streeterville across from Northwestern Memorial ER, their donut disappointed me 2x times. Their Boston creme, the donut fab, the creme...I must have missed it. I tried it twice. Sadly, the company failed to respond to me about it.So, its apple time now. Michigan Apple Fritter. (Im tearing up from excitement writing this.Im not huge into sweets, but this donut sounds heavenly.Apples, cinnamon, no nuts, and made with love, Im sure. Sugar, definitely.I took this bad boy home to cut it up. No way am I going to consume it all at once. If I stayed here in the outside seating and ate it, I wouldhave downed it. Then go in a get their gluten-free chocolate, their glazed, and any other that I could wolf down. Control, Elle. Control. (But, their so good)The fritter was 123g which is 4.25 ounces...yes 1/4 of a pound. (No wonder Im not eating it all at once.)I input my purchase into MyFitnessPal, and I swear the app laughed at me.The donut was listed as 500 calories and no other info listed. Ruh-roh Thats not good.I looked on DoRites website, but no nutritional info given. I guess a donut shop (who puts a deep-fried chicken breast on a glazed donutdoes not exactly boast nutritional facts, but it would be nice.Heres the deal. I tore a small piece off this donut. It was insane. Delecatable. It took everything in me to not continue to eat it. Instead, I cut it into small pieces and froze them for treats later.Boring, Elle, I know. But everything in moderation.The donut was fresh, very sweet, cinnamon-y and definitely taste the apple. The texture perfection.Would I buy it again? Annually, yes. Next time I return Ill probably grab a gfree or a glazed. Id LOVE to re-buy the Boston creme IF they promise to have the creme in it. Honestly, Im long overdue for their chicken sandwich...best in town.

I went to try a specific donut, the bacon and maple sugar, but unfortunately, they rent out of this donut as well as most of the other donuts as we were late afternoon. Good think I hade the chance to go to another store the next day.

My team was excited to eat the chicken sandwiches and we scheduled order online for pickup around 10a. I set a 1135-1145a pickup time. I arrived at 1205p and waited until 1220p for my order. I would not recommend online order. The donuts are great though. The chicken is not desirable as delivery or to go. The outdoor seating is covered so easy to dine there.

Boston Creme donut was weird the filling wasn’t like pudding it was kinda hard. Gluten free donuts are just ok. You can buy Katz gluten free donuts in freezer section of grocery store taste just as good. Nothing to write home about. Spicy chicken sandwich was just hot no spicy taste. Service was great.

Tasty donuts and fried chicken. We felt right at home here, being from a place where Federal Donuts, Dotties, and other amazing donuts places are near home, we were pleased to learn of this gem. Really tight inside, and the wait for non-donut items was a little long which made it even tighter to wait, since the capacity is teeny.

I paid $40 for nine donuts to be delivered to our hotel. We received 6 donuts. I called and was told that they were out of one kind that we ordered, so they sent the six they had and that we werent charged for the others. Six donuts were not enough for my family, and I WAS charged for all nine donuts. Another call to be told they had issued a refund for the three they dont have and it might take a few days to show up in my bank account. Ill never do business with them again.

Great donuts and coffee and very friendly staff!We had a Buttermilk Old Fashioned with small coffee (only 1$ extra for the coffeeand a Maple Bacon donut. Unfortunately they had almost ran out of lemonade but gave my girlfriend the final half-cup for free then. Shadowy area to sit outside and escape Chicago’s heat for a moment. The little birds there seem to like their food as well. :-)Will definitely come back!

So glad I visited for a lunch pick up.The most delicious chicken sandwiches (burgers for UK people).The donuts were amazing too. Especially the Blueberry Crumb and the Buttermilk Old Fashioned.Its a small location and the queue was out the door, but ready to wait if there is a line. It is worth it.

Do-Rote donuts has The Best donuts not just in Chicago but maybe the entire USA. They are super fresh and taste amazing! Customer service at this location has always been great too. I haven’t tried any of their other food options but you can’t go wrong with one of their donuts. Just get one and you’ll taste the rainbow! :D

My friend & I got 6 different donuts. Ranked from best to just ok: 1: cream cheese danish (would eat this one everyday for the rest of our lives2. Chocolate glazed (unassuming but unexpectedly amazing3. Tie between buttermilk old fashioned & cinnamon old fashioned. Both were delightful. 4. Original glazed, not much to write home about. 5. Pistachio lemon cake donut not great flavor at all, kinda blahOverall we will for sure be back!

Really great food! Donuts are delicious! We had the chicken breakfast sandwich and it was perfection! There will be a line but totally worth it! The staff were friendly too!

My daughter wanted a fresh donut yesterday afternoon, this place makes them fresh all day! Very good. Decided to get some chicken too, great decision. Chicken was warm, crispy, tasty. We’ll be back!!

Really good chicken sandwich. Great flavors. Fair prices. Fast service. My only issue was I ordered a donut and didn’t receive it…It was my first visit, maybe a mixup. Donuts looked great though! I still give it 5 stars.

I dont mind my doctor visits as I know Ill be picking up a couple of the best doughnuts in Chicago. The doughnuts here are the best of the city. Also the breakfast sandwich (avocadois amazing. The southern chicken sandwich is 4 stars (needs a bit more crunch). But the doughnuts. The glorious doughnuts.

Of the three popular donut places I tried, this was definitely the best. If you like simple donuts, the buttermilk old fashioned is perfection. Everyone working was super nice both times I went, even on Mothers Day morning when they were slammed. 10/10 will go again.

Lemon glaze donut is like a cake more than donut dough. By the way, Very good chicken sandwich. Very good for the price(5.49$).

I love this donut place! Their donuts are soft and fluffy and a lot bigger than any other donuts. My personal favorite is the maple bacon donut. The Boston cream is usually pretty good too but this one I got didnt have a lot of filling as you can see in the picture. Gotta come early or the popular flavors will be gone by noon

Do-rite’s was excellent! We went for a quick donut, but ended up getting a Mr. Piggy sandwich and fries too. Everything was seriously so good. We had Boston crème and a raspberry bullseye. So good. I had a Nutella latte too, which was sweet and delicious. This location is small but has some outdoor seating on a covered patio area.

This place was pretty darn good. Decent food and decent service. The only drawback is it is kind of tight quarters in there, doubled with the fact that it can get busy. But if you are a donut, breakfast sandwich or chicken sandwich aficionado, you might want to check it out anyway? I hear great things about their donuts and the prices are not too bad! It’s a unique place for sure, and has a pretty chill outdoor patio for dining to top it all off.

Who says you cant have your doughnut and a meal? Do-Rite does both. I had a breakfast sandwich and pick up a ½ dozen of their treats. Something about that sandwich captured my tatsebuds.

Good donuts and chicken sandwich. Service is a bit slow. Wouldve preferred less sauce on the sandwich and the donuts to be less sweet but still good overall.

This was my first experience at this establishment and possibly my last based on the quality of product I received. I was not impressed at all. DO-RITE didnt "Do Right" by me !!!! I gave 2 stars solely for the Vanilla Bean Glazed donut that was the only good part of my almost $15 meal. The rest of my experience was enough for me to declare " been there done that" I also ordered an Original Chicken sandwich, fries and a drink.The chicken was disappointingly old and evidently had been sitting under a warmer, the fries were so hard and old that I just couldnt eat them and most likely recieved the same treatment as the hard tough piece of chicken breast that additionally frustrated me as it only covered half of the bun ( it was that small). I was surprised to recieve my order so quickly as it was super crowded, I now realize that the food is sitting and not freshly prepared likely due to the volume of younger customers that make up the vast majority of patrons to this establishment from my observation. Fast is key and Fresh is of no concern it seem which is scary because it was only 10am.They forgot to give me my donut and if I wouldnt have checked my bag I would not have known. I reneged on my order of Iced tea because it concerned me that the tea vat had an open hatch where someone could just put debris or lord knows what in it and you would be none the wiser.

My gluten free donut was so incredibly good!!! I loved it, I recently started doing gluten free due to a lot of intestinal issues and love that I found this option. I also ordered a Vera Cruz breakfast sandwich with no cheese and ate the egg and veggies off of the bread also really good. They don’t have lattes that are dairy free but do have oat milk or almond milk to add to your coffee.

This is a tiny shop but doesn’t mean they don’t much to offer. You can get dinner and dessert all in one place. I also really liked the aesthetic of the shop and the cool neon lights inside.We had ordered it to-go and it smelled so good that I couldn’t wait to go home to start eating! I could not decide what to order so I asked for the most popular item. I ended up getting the Original Chicken Sandwich with (extraspice and had the choice to have it between a glazed donut or on a brioche. The brioche has a hint of sweetness and it was soft. Although it was not spicy for me since I eat a lot of spice, I still appreciated the spiciness on the sandwich. Chicken was crunchy on the outside and slightly dry on the inside but I’m going to let that slide because it’s white meat. We also ordered a CBR sandwich. I did not expect the bacon to be sweet but it was still very delicious. The fries became limp by the time we got home.

Holy Moses. I’m visiting Chicago and found out this place had gluten-free donuts.I am amazed. Astonished. Dumbfounded. I have never had a gluten-free doughnut this good. This rivals the best donuts that aren’t gluten-free. If I could, I would order an entire box to take home. No weird texture, nothing. You would never know this is a gluten-free donut.I could move to Chicago for this donut.

All are quality donuts, which deliver well on a given flavor, although some seem to overlap - for instance, chocolate glazed and chocolate old-fashioned, cinnamon and apple cinnamon, etc.If you’re trying to satisfy a chocolate craving, you may be a little disappointed. I’ve gone in person and had donuts catered, for a total of five or six experiences. Every time, I’ve felt that all-chocolate donuts were missing, along with any kind of cream cheese filling or frosting on the red velvet, which was bland. It could be that I’ve simply missed out on the days those flavors were available. Until then, I’d have to rank Stan’s and Glazed & Infused (rest their soulsabove Do-Rite, at least for donuts.Of course, there are also breakfast sandwiches. I had the ham, cheese, and egg, which was fresh and authentic, with actual scrambled eggs in it. I didn’t get it on a donut, which I will have to rectify next time. Personally I’d skip the mayo and tomato, but that’s me.I haven’t tried the fried chicken yet, but I’ve only heard good things!

Really good donuts. There was a little queue but didnt have to wait long at all. Chicken and bacon in a glazed donut was strange but not bad! Chocolate donut was pretty good.The lady at the till was really nice and gave me a free donut which was pretty good too

Yummy! Do-rite has great donuts and coffee drinks. The staff was exceptionally nice, and friendly, and helpful. The gluten-free donuts are second to none! We took a short 3 day trip to Chicago, and I got a few extra gluten-free donuts to take home. So good! I would also recommend the Nutella iced coffee: also very good.

what a cute &nostalgic donut&chicken sandwich shop! definitely one of the best fried chicken sandwiches!! the plain coffee is a bit on the acidic side, purely a personal preference, so if you’re like me who prefers our coffee more chocolatey and smooth, try one of their lattes. not usually a big sweet person but I took a bite of my partner’s donut and it was hit the spot.

The service was quick and friendly and all of the donuts I tried were delicious! My favorite was the old fashion chocolate donut. If you like cakes donuts, this is the place is for you!

Having moved out of Chicago for years now, we still dream of these amazing doughnuts. First place we went to when we were visiting, just absolutely great! Keep doing what you do!!The old fashioned cinnamon sugar is our personal favorite.

Popular doughnut shop that also serves breakfast sandwiches and fried chicken (breakfast served all day). If you buy a doughnut, coffee is just $1. There always seemed to be a line but it moved fairly quickly. To save time, you can also order ahead via phone for pick-up. It took about 30 minutes for the chicken tenders I ordered to come out, but they were made fresh and it was busy, so it’s all good.The doughnuts were super heavy and sweet - just the way I like ‘em. The chocolate was decadent and I had to save half for later in my day because I was getting so full. The pistachio lemon doughnut was a bit lighter and not as sweet; it was an interesting flavor but I probably wouldn’t get it again. The cheese danish doughnut looked really good but they were out when I was ordering.There’s indoor stools and outdoor tables. Credit cards are accepted. Note that it’s located right across a hospital so there will be sirens randomly blaring. No street parking was readily available. There’s no free wifi so it’s more of a eat your food and leave kinda vibe.

Im usually in here two or three times a month to get donuts in the morning. Staff are always incredibly nice and do a great job keeping the line moving. Donuts cant be beat. Was apprehensive about the maple bacon donut at first but its a real treat. Have not tried the gluten free donuts but they do exist if you are so inclined. The chicken and breakfast sandwiches are also great quality for a bargain price. The cold coffees are a bit weird tasting and oversweet, would stay away.

Decent spot. There was a short line when we got there around 9:30am on a Saturday. I got the original chicken sandwich on a donut bun which was ok. Nothing special at all. I also got the blueberry crumble donut which pretty good. This one was recommended by the cashier or else I would’ve gotten the old fashioned. I definitely prefer the other 3 chicago donut spots to this one

We got a maple bacon donut and a Denver breakfast sandwich. Both very tasty. The lemonade and the iced latte were also good. It gets busy but the wait isn’t long and the food is good.

This is part of the food tour of Chicago and I got to say really nice place and I cant remember what it was that made this place popular over other donut places. I do apologize I asked and the one thing I got was because of the owner of the food tour went on knows the owner of this place so its one of those things you scratch my back I scratch yours. But other than that really good donuts a nice location quiet and it is very busy because I saw people left and right coming by checking out this place.

OMG, this place was quite a find and not disappointing.My daughter had the OG chix sandwich but rather than on regular bun it was in between a donut! I had the CBR (chix, cheddar, bacon & garlic Mayobetween brioche bun. We also split an order of FF which tasted and looked like boardwalk fries from OC MD! Bonus, the young lady that took our order gave us a free apple cider donut. Everything was wonderful and flavorful. I would go back. Next time for donut and $1 coffee!

Its taken a few months but I have basically eaten every donut offered. There is a good amount of variety in flavors, textures and allergy options. They have some gluten free donuts but I have never tried them. The vegan donuts are really good, my favorite is the chai glazed. Even simple donuts like the honey glazed are done so perfectly you dont need extra. They offer Dark Matters Coffee which is a nice local brand and every size is $1 off if you buy a donut. The quality of the coffee can very from being very good to just ok, I think it just depends on maybe who is working or how busy they are when they make the coffee. Staff at this location is amazing and always super friendly. On the weekends outdoor seating can be really busy but the donuts are always fresh and you can see them making them in the back. This is my favorite donut place in the city, my donut partner agrees.

The donuts were so yummy! And the staff was nice. You have to be pretty quick before the crowd of people come in for breakfast. It’s a relatively small place inside and outside. It’s also in a very small corner of a building. You might miss it. So treat it more like a grab n go!
