Bright, industrial eat-in/take-out spot for varieties of hummus, fresh pita & Middle Eastern salads.
The food here is tasty but the amount of single-use plastic they use to serve it to you is disgusting. No “to stay” option. Why are you passing out a plastic knife and spoon in a plastic sleeve to every customer for food that doesn’t require either utensil? Do better.
Definitely a great little spot for a quick lunch, wasnt crazy about the bench seating, but the beet salad that came with the hummus bowl was amazing! The pita bread was super soft and tasty, I got the meatball hummus bowl, the meatballs were pretty tasty, but it was a LOT of hummus in there. If youre hungry enough ordering an extra pita would finish it off otherwise I ended up throwing a decent amount out in the trash.Overall definitely a spot worth trying, and perhaps a spot Id come back to if Im in the area!
Great vegetarian options! The eggplant hazelnut was my favorite, but the potatoes and spinach were a close second!
Hummus probably the best Ive had, insanely smooth and the platter came with amazing warm pita and a vinegary crunchy salad to round things together
Zahav’s baby sister, highlighting the best hummus in the city. Food will sell out by close so get meat dishes early.
Recommended by a friend. I didnt really know what to expect, but it was probably the best hummus Ive ever had. It also comes with pita and a side salad, so it feels like a complete meal. You have to come try this!
Stopped by for a light lunch while visiting Philadelphia. It wasnt crowded, so was able to walk right up and place my order. Ordered the Beef Pinenut Hummus platter with an egg, salad, and a Lemonana drink. It was a nice day, so sat at one of the outdoor tables outside. Order was ready within 5 minutes and delivered to my table.Hummus was very good with a nice creamy taste. Ingredients were very fresh and was plated nicely. Was sure to scoop a little bit of every ingredient on each bite as they all went well together. Both the salad and Lemonana were equally as good. All the ingredients in the salad were fresh and crispy. The Lemonana was very refreshing. Great place to come for some good, authentic Hummus.
Great atmosphere and amazing spot on staff. Very close and had some very fair prices. This has to be one of the best places Ive seen with amazingly made hummus and practical and fair enough choices of food.
Delicious hummus, quick service, awesome vibe! I got the traditional hummus and the corn hummus- I totally recommend both but the corn and hazelnut hummus really hit the spot with the crunch. Both are vegan and both are so delicious and so flavorful. The food is awesome at such an affordable price and convenience- its like eating at Zahav without any going-out-to-dinner stress. The interior is so cute and i really really liked their playlist (10/10 on vibes). One thing I’d recommend is that their drink, lemonnana, which is totally delicious, comes with a paper straw that kinda falls apart but overall awesome experience
Super creamy hummus. The salad was crunchy, vinegary, balanced.Got the squash and hazelnut hummus. Nice texture. The squash was a bit salty tho.Had cucumbers as a side instead of pita bread 🫓 #gluten-free life. And the lemonanna which had strawberry blended in. That was dreamy.
Had lamb hummus bowl - was delicious and came with a warm pita and a very tasty salad
The hummus, of the paste-like variety, is still excellent. The service is efficient. But one serving plus a small side salad and a soft drink is almost $25, which seems expensive.
Great food. Insanely expensive.Theres even a 10% fee just for ordering online. Not for delivery - just for placing an order on the internet. If youre paying $15 for $3 worth of hummus and a medium sized pita, to then be asked to pay $1.50 for the privilege of ordering online, in 2022, is just... very Rittenhouse.Thats what this place is. The epitome of Rittenhouse. Tastes great, is trendy, is health and socially conscious. Just costs way, way too much.If thats not an issue for you because you live in a $1.8 million condo in Rittenhouse, good. For those of us who just work in Rittenhouse, $15 for a bowl of mushed chic peas a pita + almost $2 just to have your order be sent is just too much. Sorry.
Fantastic hummus and pita breads. Shocking prices.Truly some of the best and most authentic hummus we’ve had outside of Israel/ME. Fresh, no overpowering garlic, smooth and super delicious. Had ours with pine nuts and beef - all great. Pita bread was amazing too. What’s really disappointing is the hugeeee markup in price. Hummus is a very inexpensive food, and the prices here were eye watering. Each bowl comes with a small salad and a SINGLE pita bread, after tax and service this was $20 per person! An extra pita cost more too, though thankfully the staff actually gave us one kindly for free.$40 for 2 bowls of basic hummus is not acceptable and is expensive even by NYC/Dubai standards, let alone Philadelphia. Should be less than half the price in my opinion.
4.8/5 fantastic middle eastern spot all though they dont sell the full scale middle eastern stuff. They only have like hummus and a couple of other things. Most people come for the hummus and the hummus is great. Very good stuff. $12 for the hummus platter though you dont get very much hummus with what you pay for, or at least I barely got any hummus. Would recommend regardless!
Best hummus I have ever eaten in my life — comparable to what I ate at Zahav. Smooth, creamy, and flavorful. The beet salad and a pita bread comes with the dish. There weren’t any utensils packed in the bag, so make a note to ask the employees for those items.
Ate here today. Friendly staff, but I otherwise don’t get why people rave about this place. Every flavored hummus dish is just traditional hummus served with toppings. There is no infused hummus. I’ve legit had tastier hummus from the supermarket.
This small chain used to be good. Now days, the hospitality is out of the window and all they seem to care about is the next plastic bowl and paper bag delivery. The menu has shrunk to include only basic of the basic, no meat hummus, no Shakshuka, no salads other than beets, and only cold food. Even then the portion is super small and embarrassing.
This is the best hummus Ive ever eaten hands down. Its a small menu that changes frequently. The pita is cooked in a brick oven fresh everyday and is always served hot. They used to have one in Chelsea market Manhattan but for some reason it closed down 5 years ago. Thank God they still have one open in Philadelphia. The only downside to this place is that it ruins all other hummus for you.
It was OK food. The hummus was on the salty side. And I didnt like the lamb that much. The side dish beet was good.
A wonderful Israeli fast casual dining experience in Philly. The hummus and pita bread are absolutely excellent, some of the best Ive ever had. Theyve got a fancier restaurant called Zahav if you have enough time ahead of your visit to the city you can try and get a reservation there for dinner. Highly recommend either place if youre in Philly.
Its not overrated. Its truly just the best hummus youll ever have. Classic was perfect and slightly smoky. The chicken was delicious and perfectly balanced too. The pita rounds it out to a perfect meal. Run here!
I’ve had a lot of hummus and really enjoy it. This was one of the best hummus I have had. It was delicious. The pita that goes along with it is also delicious. Service was quick and fast. Staff was cool. I will return here when I’m back in town and will recommend to all my family and friends.
The food is incredible and I really liked the presentation of it.However, as other people mentioned, this service charge is annoying. If you have to charge sometime this, just factor it into the food price like anybody else.By the way, portions are big. One bowl can easily feed two people, just get extra pitta.
Loved my experience at this restaurant! Its a tiny little thing, but certainly not a hole in the wall - its very well designed, and trendy, and the staff is super sweet. A great, healthy option for lunch at midday.I definitely recommend showing up outside of lunch hour, because the space is not very large and seating is limited. I was there at 1:00 p.m. and left shortly after 2:00. When I arrived things were packed, and there were only two seats available in store. By the time I left things had significantly emptied out in store, though there were still plenty of folks heading in to grab to-go items.Food was delicious. I especially liked the pickled beets that came with my hummus platter. I did the lentil platter, was full, and even took a bit home in one of their adorable Dizengof-branded to-go plastics.
One of the best hummus plate (pictured, the squash hazelnutI had, pita bread is amazing, great service!
They basically do one thing REALLY well: hummus. Delicious cucumber alternative for their fresh pita bread if you are gf. If I lived in Philly, Id be here once a week!
Really love the hummus at Dizengoff and the topping choices. Usually most of us Americans dont think about adding toppings to our hummus, but this restaurant makes you think that all of us should beer doing this. Ive had many different toppings but todays eggplant and pine nuts was absolutely delicious. The hot and fresh pita beads are amazing and complement the hummus well. The salad they usually serve with the hummus is also terrific and varies depending on the season. Right now its a red beet salad with Israeli pickle. Very small seating areas which would be nicer if they could expand it, but the footprint is very small. Outdoor seating for good weather. No parking lot.
The best hummus I have ever tasted! Its smooth and creamy. I got there late and didn’t get chicken but lamb instead. Yet no issue the lamb is awesome. The pita is also very good too. However it’s a bit on the pricey side.
Come 20 mins before 12 if you don’t want to wait, the line gets long. Had great experience eating Israeli cuisine for the first time. Doesn’t look like a lot of food, but i could barely finish. Definitely coming back.
Simple and delicious. Smooth hummus with your choice of topping. Served with a cucumber salad and warm pita. Friendly and fast service. Trendy space. Would recommend.
The hummus is delicious but a little pricey for the serving size. Besides the basic hummus they have a rotating selection of toppings. Pictured below are chicken and lima beans. Also, make sure to check out the shashuka on weekends.
Had the amazing eggplant hummus it comes with a great pita and a side of veggies. They have happy hour every day from 6-8pm with a couple dollars off drinks. Definitely try the frozen limonada with booze!
No doubt they have such good rating.... Food was excellent ..... service was great and with smiling face ...... menu wasnt much complicated.... few option makes it easier to select..... we ordered Beef Hummus and Eggplant Hummus...... they come with thick fluffy bread and small pickles and salad.... check out pics.
We really love this place everything is delicious. There is a fantastic customer service. You get a lot on your plate with salad and spicy deep. Also on Sunday they have shakshuka super delicious. Super recommend good vibes. You can have extra on your hummus that are great. We took the cauliflower one time and the tahini on second time.
The hummus platter is absolutely amazing. I had the cauliflower almond hummus. Apparently, the menu changes every day! The staff was super friendly. If you like spicy food, ask for the green sauce/dressing.
PSA: This hummus is addictive. I literally have cravings for specifically Dizengoff hummus. Keep this in mind before trying it - seriously one of my favorite spots in Philly.Atmosphere: Casual, with seating options inside (maybe enough room for 15-20). Seems predominately like a takeout place to me. Cashiers are very friendly, and the food comes out very quickly (Ive waited for less than 5 minutes).Food: The hummus combined with their olive oil, and toppings (Ive gotten chicken almond and chicken with carrotsis just perfect. They give a large portion size of hummus - I always feel so full afterwards - and protein! The garnishes will change daily, so be sure to check online or on Instagram in case theres one youre specifically craving. Pita is always served warm and fluffy; perfect pairing to the hummus. My only complaint is that one time, I felt a bit sick after eating their beet salad (perhaps not the freshest beets?). Because this occurrence was so rare in the number of times Ive been to Dizengoff, Ive looked past it.Recommended must-try: Get their coffee-braised hard-boiled egg. Its usually a bit yolky still inside, and a perfect complement to their hummus and pita.Overall: 4.5 / 5, amazing hummus that I return to, over and over again. I personally think its quite affordable for the amount of hummus and protein youre getting! Next thing on my list is trying their shakshuka - that, and every possible hummus garnish they offer! The 4.5 comes from the one instance of not-so-fresh beets I got; otherwise, absolutely incredible hummus. I crave it just writing this review.
Hummus as an entree–why have I never thought of this before? The hummus itself was delicious although I didn’t care for the eggplant topping. It was... gloopy. Is that a word? Everything else was great.
Delicious Israeli-style hummus. It really tastes authentic (though portions are smaller than in Israel). Staff are friendly, and the environment is very casual and relaxed. They also have a clean bathroom for customers.
There were at least 30 people ahead of us when we got in line on a nice spring day. This location is always busy during lunch thanks to the wonderful hummus and meat/vegetarian options they offerAlthough the wait in line can take up to 15 minutes - orders are expedited rather quickly. Seating is limited to 3 communal picnic style tables - so ordering to-go is a better option at this location. In orders the eggplant with an extra egg add on. It was delicious.I would definitely recommend this place on a nice day when you dont mind waiting in line.
Totally yum! True to its Israeli roots, if you dont know what youre looking for, you miss the entrance. The inside is covered with actual concert advertisement posters from Tel Aviv, with long, laquered picnic-style tables and benches. The food, all hummus, is amazing, and the pita is made fresh on location. If you go at lunchtime, theres always a line out the door, but it is so worth it.
Was recommended after my friend had a Taste of Israel. We tried two different hummus. Both were absolutely delicious. It is a great option for take out if your own your way home. I look forward to my next trip.
They keep it simple here. Delicious, high quality hummus, pita, beer and a few different sides. Its a small storefront, but the atmosphere is great: dim lighting, hip hop music, colorful art and concert posters from Israel. Great for lunch or as an early evening stop before heading to dinner to expand your night in the city.
Excellent (10 starhummus. Broccoli rabe & chicken also excellent. The snow pea hummus was 2.5 to 3.
This was my first time here and I didnt understand the menu at first but quickly found out that all hummus dishes are a plate of hummus, small cucumber salad, and a delicious fresh from the oven pita and you order based on the topping you want. It didnt look like a lot of food but I was full by the time I finished
Colorful and energetic decor with amazing no frills hummus dishes.Sunday shakshuka is really great too.You might have to share tables or wait for seating but its a great brunch spot.
Hands down the best hummus and pita youll find in the US. Their hummus is so smooth and tasty, and they always rotate their menu for different toppings on the hummus. I crave dizengoff hummus every week, and I pity you if you dont.
Best hummus outside of Israel! Their pita bread and spicy shug are top notch. Great shop with simple yet tasteful decor.
It was really delicious. Ordered the brisket hummus together with gin Limonada. The staff was helpful in navigating allergies as one member of our party has a gluten allergy. The food came out quickly. Highly recommend. Note: theres very limited seating.
I come here pretty much every time Im in Philadelphia. They have the creamiest hummus with interesting toppings that change often. Just wish they were open later!
