Mexican bites & potent margaritas flavor this hip, modern cantina with pink walls & a karaoke room.
Went here for dinner and everything was very good. The food was tasty and the service was very quick and friendly. We were able to catch the last half hour of Happy Hour which got us discounted appetizers and drinks.
Went during happy hour, great prices, service was quick and the food was amazing, and I mean everything was yummy from the appetizers to the entrees, the inside also has such a cute little vibe to it!
Very fun atmosphere but thats honestly the best part of this restaurant. The food was just okay, nothing particularly tastey but their drinks make up for where their food lacks.
Went here after seeing this place on Tiktok, the food was alright; I had the birria tacos. They were def good but nothing to go screaming on the mountain top about. However, the drinks were delish! I had a margarita of course and it was fantastic. The service was superb our waitress was quick and she gave us great recommendations (like the margarita lol). I thought the atmosphere was awesome, the vibe was immaculate def a place to come with friends or even a date. I will be back for sure.
Ordered Birra tacos, quesadilla and black beans with rice. Birra tacos were small in size for the price. Quesadilla were ok. Black beans and rice were bland. Ive had food from here in the past. But based on what I recieved this last time, I wouldnt come back. It was juat okay. I purposely wanted Birra and this spot was closer in proximity than my desired location. However, next time Ill take the drive to the other end of the city and get Birra from Juana Tamale is S. Philadelphia. For $3 dollars more you get more food in volume and flavor. There is no comparison.
I loved the ambience and the food was absolutely delicious. I wish the tacos were a little bigger though.
they would not seat us when the restaurant was completely empty!! they said all the seats were reserved yet there was absolutely nobody there...ridiculous...
Environment and staff are nice, but it doesn’t make up for not so tasty over priced food. Nachos had no cheese and costed $30. Then my taco had kale in it, it just wasn’t a good experience. I don’t think I’ll try again.
Incredible food with amazing vibes!
The atmosphere was phenomenal and definitely reminded me of authentic Mexican street style tacos while adding a modern social party vibe. The service was also quick and wonderful. My part of 2 ordered chipotle chicken nachos to share and an order of birria tacos each. The nachos were not quite what I expected but still good and a large portion. Definitely could have shared between 3. The birria tacos could have used a little more seasoning but were downright delightful and extremely tender. Overall a great vibe and some great food for small or large groups.
Overall it was great place. Loved our waiter Crystal she was such a doll to have and super friendly/welcoming. However the only issue I have is the taco’s needs more seasoning so bland and basic
The menu was much smaller than expected. The cafeteria feel was cute, but I was hoping for things like tostadas and tamales. We got the taco bar and margarita pitcher, and it was deceptively presented. We overloaded the first tacos before we realized the "bowls of meat" were actually bowls of rice and beans with 2oz of meat on top. We also watched the bartender make the pitchers. 1/3 drink, 2/3 ice made it actually difficult to consume, the ice went everywhere (not to mention they sold us 3 margaritas for $35)Update: the second time we visited, the fire alarm went off multiple times. The staff seemed unbothered, and didnt offer anything to compensate for the blaring alarms and blinding lights. Definitely not worth another visit.
I wish there was a lesser rating than one star. After reserving the antique car for a date night dinner with my wife for our 4th anniversary.I received a call from the restaurant about an hour before our dinner reservation time telling me that i can’t set where i originally reserved because they have someone else coming and the manager (Justinwanted them to set there instead of us.What a joke.Absolutely no respect for your customers and what an ignorant manager.I worked in the restaurant business for over 13 years not once in my career i would dream of doing this to a paying customer.
Very good happy hour with reasonable drinks and food. Been here twice for happy hour, and the only issue I’ve had is ordering things on the happy hour menu during happy hour, and getting the non-HH version of those menu items. They’re usually larger, but also more expensive, which can be a bit frustrating. Otherwise, the food is delicious and the staff is very nice.
The food was great and came out quickly! Our waitstaff was very accommodating as well. The only issue was the portion sizes, my whole table still felt hungry after our entrees. The key to ordering here is probably to order appetizers around for the table in addition to am entree to get a full-sized meal.
TLDR: incredible tacos and service, other things need work.Overall this place is really great, but there are some caveats. We ordered chips and guacamole to start, followed by the DIY taco bar setup with braised beef and carnitas. My pops got a margarita that he loved. The chips and guacamole frightened us for what was to come. The chips were tooth shatteringly thick and unsalted. They left a lot to be desired. The guacamole did little to rescue this. It was stone cold like it just came out of the fridge and likewise had no seasoning whatsoever. It was as if they smeared some avocado, sprinkled on some Cotija and called it a day.Light at the end of the tunnel came by way of the taco bar. The protein choices we made were incredible. The carnitas was deeply flavorful and the braised beef was also excellent. The tortillas were perfect and the salsas were diverse and tasty. We devoured the taco setup in short order.Bottom line, go here and get all the tacos. Don’t touch the chips or guac, it’s just not worth it. Save room for more tacos!
Food is fine. Decent tacos, but not the best Ive had. It is expensive for what you get. Although it looks like a neat spot to sit and have a margarita etc.
My wife and I sat at the vw bug table, and wow, what a great experience! The bar manager Drew made sure our experience was top notch! The food was delicious as well. I only wish they could stay open later.
Food is great but customer service sucks! First time went I walked up to the outside entrance with my baby in stroller they host looked at me like” what I am doing here” I kindly said aren’t you a restaurant? I want to sit down and get something to eat….then the second time I went I was seated and no one came to service me just had me sitting there for 15 mins until I asked can someone take me order! This restaurant gives off if you are dark you won’t be treated equally
Cute atmosphere, but the food was some of the most blandest Mexican food we’ve ever had. The $14 quesadilla was the most disappointing quesadilla I’ve ever had, and it’s pretty hard to screw up a quesadilla. It cost an extra $4 to add the most flavorless bland chicken and there was barely any on there. To charge $14 for the portion I received was ridiculous, it looked like it was from a kiddie menu and hardly had any filling.Everything is was overpriced for the portions. The margaritas also came in pitifully small glasses. I saw another table order a pitcher and it looked like mostly ice. Unless you have money to blow on bland miniature-sized food, this place is not worth a visit.
Overpriced, non-authentic, and sub-par "mexican" food. The meats lack any sort of seasoning and the "Taco Bar" item doesnt even come with cheese. Although the margarita was good, it came in the smallest container Ive ever seen (about 8-12oz).Atmosphere is cool, but you might as well list every item on the menu as "cultural appropriation" with how far from authentic this food is.
Tried this place for the first time and it totally blew me away! The food was excellent, staff were incredible, and the seating was very unique! This spot is well known for their great margs and amazing Mexican food. This being said, the food did not disappoint. I had a very flavorful and large chicken and cheese quesadilla as well as the birria tacos and cornbread. All the food came looking very pleasant and extremely fast. The birria tacos tasted amazing and the sauce made the night! I have to also shout out the server who was extremely friendly and always checked in with us throughout the night. The cornbread was also a very tasty and unique side as it came in a skillet. This cornbread really had some nice flavor and a little kick! The drinks here are also very good and not pricy at all. They are worth it and much better than the other similar style places in the area. The location is pretty big and was fairly busy when we went. Despite this, we easily got a table and got served fast. Some of the more interesting seating such as the car table and swing seats may be more desired by people, so definitely make your reservation for those.Overall this place was a great experience and totally worth trying. Prices are great and the staff are wonderful! I will be back!
Some of the best Mexican food Ive had in years. The margaritas were sublime, fish tacos were off the hook and the shrimp ceviche was slammin! The staff put an emphasis on service with a smile. The bar tender, Robin, poured drinks and poured on the charm.I plan on going back, not just for the margaritas, but to enjoy Robins company and the atmosphere... And yes, to drink some more of those fantastic margaritas.
Ill start off with The outside seating was super cute and the staff was very nice and the food came out pretty quickly. I was disappointed though when I ordered the birria tacos and they were so tiny with barely any meat or cheese in them????? And the tiniest amount of consomé. I honestly thought it was a joke when they were brought to the table. I definitely feel like they should have been on the appetizer part of the menu. We ordered burritos after that and they were pretty good. Overall its a cute place and the food is good but definitely would like to see those tacos improve.
Today was my first time dinning here and I must say, the fish tacos were superb! The plantains was good also! Not to mention the cinnamon apple margaritas...they were delicious! Our waiter was a sweetheart, I don’t remember his name though, but all in all I will definitely come back here again.
The happy hour here has such delicious food and drinks! Cant go wrong with those nachos (great to share), empanadas (4 small cheese ones), and delicious flautas (crispy!)!! The decor and music is awesome and its great to dine in the indoor car table! Servers very attentive and friendly!
Joshua was our manager and he was great along with Alex our server! We had a great time and will definitely be back. I recommend the margaritas for happy hour... well worth it thank you Josh and Alex! (Ask for Alex as your server he is great, you won’t regret it!!)
Joshua was our manager, and he was amazing! The way he managed the staff and created an environment that was welcoming was something that really created an experience. I asked for his name just to write this review. Our server Alex was amazing! He’s nice, prompt, and knew the ins and outs of the restaurant. You have to ask for him to be your server. He serves on the lower floror and will take care of you. Tip him well, he deserves it. Great service! Will be returning!
Enjoyed the food. Loved that they had happy hour even on weekends. Tacos were good too!
Divine serviceInteresting menuSuper duper drinksTasty foodRecommend for allI would go backTotally will be going backOh happy day !Happy valentines day! Thank you DISTRITO for the fine wine and dine for me and my ravishing partner. See you soon < 3Our server was Dani and her service was above and beyond. She really personified friendliness and everything came out super quick and as ordered. She set a high bar for the next time I am there!
Ive had nearly everything on there menu. Everything is delicious. I like that they have happy hour even on the weekends. I was just there again a couple weeks ago mid January 2020. They changed up the happy hour menu they also added a few drinks. Gotta love that all week happy hour. Sid and Dave are great, always going the extra mile to take care of the customer.
My guy and I went here for a quick dinner and the food was delicious!! And the pineapple margarita was perfect and not too sweet. The atmosphere was chill and laid back. Our waitress was awesome. Im so sorry I forgot her name but she had beautiful tattoos. We will be back.
Super cute, very silly and bright atmosphere. Very good rum punch during happy hour. The food is also very good. Ive never had plantain served like that before. Average pricing, though a little on the small side for portions.
Stopped in with a few friends for tacos an margaritas and had a wonderful time! The meatess tacos were 🔥🔥🔥 and my friends enjoyed the chicken, beef, and fish tacos! We got chips and dip and everything was very flavorful! Its a big space so the atmosphere feels open and welcoming and the bartender and waiter were both super nice and friendly!! We had a great time! Thank you
3 stars for beers, margratias.Worst nacho chips you can have. Worst salsa you can have. Look at the taco and enchiladas we ordered. Prices not at all worthy. Small sizes and awkward tastes.
This was my first time here, I went for Taco Tuesday and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and decor. However, the food wasn’t up to my expectations. I ordered two tacos and both of the shells had a funny smell and they tasted as if they were old. I ended up eating the meat from the tacos with the chips from the nachos I ordered as an appetizer, which also didn’t meet my expectations. The waiters were friendly but weren’t very helpful with menu. Seems like a nice place for drink .. just don’t try the food.
Fantastic food, great ambiance, attentive servers. My happy place.❤
I give it a 2 because the atmosphere was very nice! I was so excited to visit this restaurant because I Mexican food and they has multiple vegetarian options. I was sadly disappointed! My daughter loved her steak taco. For myself and husband, we literally had to force ourselves to finish our meal. The cornbread was absolutely the worst! I am a southerner and I may be bias when it comes to cornbread but that was awful! We couldn’t finish it. But again the atmosphere was nice and the apparently the tacos are too. I would reconsider revamping the menu
Food was delicious. Happy hour margaritas were just ok. Service was great.
Had a great time at Distrito, the food was wonderful. I had the tortia soup, fish taco, and crab enchiladas. All were very tasteful. Also thier signature margarita " el jefe" lets just say i had 3 of them, and they were on point. The decor was very interesting, they have a taxi cab to eat in and a table with porch swing seats. I plan on returning very soon.
First time really dining there (was there a few years ago for a company Christmas party). There for a lunch meeting and really enjoyed it.Our waiter was very polite, attentive and helpful in suggestions regarding the food options. My meal (burrito suizowas a great serving size and really filled me up. A good go-to, reliable option when looking for tasty food options in University City.
The food was all really good and came out very quickly. Its all really reasonably priced, and I like that tacos are sold individually, so you can try different things without being stuck with three of the same. Chips and salsa were really good as well. It was a little loud inside. Overall a good experience, I would definitely go back.
Recommended to go on a Tuesday. Tacos are $2.5 but fish tacos are $3. You cant go wrong with a pitcher of margaritas. Guac and chips are good but a little pricy for the amount you receive. If youre in the Philly area, in particularly in the University City area, check it out. Theres also another one in South NJ 1
Great place for some authentic Mexican fare. Excellent enchiladas and tacos with up to par margaritas. The waiters were very courteous and accommodated various special requests.
Amazing spot for late dinner with friends and drinks. Check it out you wont be disappointed. Try their piña colada and the nachos; theyre great!!!!!
This place was incredible! Ive never been in a restaurant so big and will decorated that its worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The service was to notch and staff were super friendly, and top it off with some very tasty tacos. Definitely worth going back
Great Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices in a fun atmosphere. So many good things to say about this place. The margaritas are strong, the flavors of the tacos and quesadilla blew us away, and their prices allow you to eat for pretty cheap (or spend more on margaritas). Seems like a good place for big groups as well.
Good service. Varied selection of dishes. Huge portions on some items. Vegetarian options. Nice selection of appetizers. My son liked the mango drink and the churros. Margaritas not as good as I was expecting.
The ambience is wonderful at this place and very hip. Food is really delicious and also a lot of options, nd very reasonable prices. One place I would go when I visit Philly again
Delightful nachos and tacos. But the tofu quesadillas are a stealer! Visit for what are probably the best guacamole youll have in West Philly!
