Discovery Room in Nanaimo

Our 2nd visit with another couple was equally rewarding. These guys do an excellent job preparing high quality meals with great service. Keep up the great work!First time here with friends. Absolutely fantastic meal, extremely well prepared. Super friendly students did a great job serving as well as preparing the food. Keep it up, will definitely return!

It started with a free Amuse bouche!The appetizer was fresh tiger shrimp on a zucchini flair! Awesome!For lunch I ordered the prosciutto wrapped chicken! Absolutely fantastic!AND you get a free desert!Never disappoints. Always outstanding!

Amazing food and nice atmosphere

Weve dined here many times and enjoyed it from start to finish on each occasion.

Brilliantly prepared food. The presentation, texture and taste were all wonderful. Wine list is VERY fairly priced and there are most grape varieties. Student servers are learning and do an admirable job and are very interesting to chat with. One of the best places to eat in Nanaimo.

Lovely lunch overlooking the city (delicious too!).

We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal of herb bread, seafood chowder, amuse bouche, sturgeon and dessert to celebrate with friends. The service, food presentation and price were all excellent. We recommend the Discovery Room for fine dining at a very affordable price.

I dont know where to start. Firstly, the ambiance is unbelievable. Its essentially eating in a two story home resembling San Franciscos "Painted Ladies".The service is unmatched. Our server was extremely knowledgeable speaking to each dish individually.We ordered the fettuccini. Do not leave this restaurant without trying it. Everything was perfect! Highly highly recommend.

Hidden gems for fine cuisine and at a very reasonable price. The view is amazing. Just make reservation as seating is limited.

This place is amazing. I highly recommend it. One of the best kept secrets on VIU campus. Although its a shame that its a secret.

The Discovery Room is a learning lab for Vancouver Island Universitys culinary arts and hospitality management programs. Full disclosure - I am an employee of VIU. That said, the DR is very much worth a visit. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere, and a great view.
