3-floor pub with wood panelling, named after notoriously dirty, local 18th-century warehouse.
Great historic pub with Youngs on hand pump. Could use a few more cask selections and it gets very packed some nights.
Decent enough boozer, old city favorite.A bit dingy and not particularly clean thoughThere are fefinately much better places in literally every direction.Cant go lower than a three though as others may love that vibe...
Great place for a beer can get busy
Oldy worldy pub in a great location right next to Liverpool st station and a couple of minutes walk from Shoreditch.
Massive portions, very unique interior. Staff were very friendly and polite. We were stuffed!!! Highly recommended. Great selection of beers!
Board said best Fish and chips.....they didnt have any!! Pleasant pub and did as was asked for a beer catch up.
Love this place, so oldie worldie. Gives it a great atmosphere.
Way to expensive to eat there, after all its pub grab and not a restaurant. £4.50 for a pint of orange juice is a rip off
Been there for a late evening quick pint with colleagues on a work trip, loved the lively environment!
We had the Sunday roast and we really enjoyed it. I ordered the beef one and it was really tasty and the vegs well cooked. I think the Yorkshire pudding could be a bit better, but I forgot about that with the Bloody Mary. Definitely a good choice if you fancy a Sunday Roast near Liverpool Street.
Lovely old school pub , in the heart of liverpool street , a nice chill out vibe lots of customers having a good time , prices were reasonable .
Found this pub by mistake as I visited London.great atmosphere and will definitely visit again when Im in London again
Good place to catch up with friends on Thursday night. Busy and buzzy.,😅👍
Came here because we heard it was a well-known pub while vacationing in London. We came late and only had an hour to eat which was fine. Service was decent and food was good. We got a shareable platter with scotch egg, sausage, and cheese/fruit . The only downside is that we were not able to eat everything within an hour so we asked for a takeout box and they said they didn’t have any, which was a bit disappointing as we wanted to save the food. I feel like all food establishments should have take out containers, this is the first I have seen that doesn’t
Beer with an atmosphere of days gone by. Sit drink and think. If you have friends then try talking too!
Always a great venue with the character of a traditional old fashioned pub. Good service and surprisingly good bar food too.
Just reminds me of the proper London pub. Considering a lot of London pubs are closing its still nice to be able to pop into a old London pub.
Atmospheric, charming, decent beer. Although Im fairly sure I was promised dead cats!
We normally use DDs to meet up with old friends. Beer is good, and its ideally located opposite Liverpool station, but the toilets arent always that clean.
There was a guy with short dreads, he told us to leave in a rude way with a weird stare which was unnecessaryWe told the security guard but he didn’t care so here’s a review.Other than that, the pub is great!
Gorgeous historical pub! Friendly service and lovely atmosphere. If you around Liverpool Street Station this place is MUST!
Okay beer and cider collection. Almost cosy. And fantastic story. A pub you have to visit.
I went with my friends and we were expecting a dance floor or something similar to a club. But didnt get what we were expecting. The drinks were good and the service was ok. But since the place was started in 1745 I would recommend tourist to visit and read history about the place present on the walls inside.
This pub is an institution opposite Liverpool Street station entrance. Good choice of wines , beers and spirits. Upstairs is a great place to meet up with people but the trip down the stairs to the toilets needs care...
I havent thrown up for years. After a couple of hours after having the fish and chips Ive nearly filled a bowl. The food tasted okay
Well located, historical pub right next to London Liverpool Street station.Great interior and decor with a large selection of beers, wines, and spirits.
There is a ok school American pub or equivalent. Lots of wood on display, there are beers of tap and reasonable selection to be honest. I would say its more of a small and intimate building . They are across the Liverpool Street station
Rustic English pub at London prices, easy reach of Liverpool St Station 20 quid for 2 doubles!
This place was quite when I went but had a lovely decor and quirky toilets full of random things including a rocking horse lol I enjoyed my visit
This place is an absolute staple pub to go to if you find yourself around the Liverpool Street/ Bishopsgate area late at night. Service isnt always perfect but always worth a drink and open until quite late. Late night venues are nearby too. Overall, solid pub and worth a pint
A MUST visit city pub in busy location with friendly efficient staff selling excellent range of beers, spirits and wines.
Normally love this pub and have fond memories of the place and it’s service for over 15 years. This time however, was not so good. I ordered a pint of neck oil and a bottle of strawberry and lime rekorderlig. When I got it to the table, I found that it was a zero alcohol version. That is not what I asked for so I went back to the bar to try and swap it with the barman. He told me that he had made me aware that it was zero alcohol, which was not the case or I would not have bothered paying the £6 something for what is essentially a fruit juice. The barman was steadfast and refused to swap the drink, meaning that I had to purchase another drink giving them money for the barman’s mistake. I would assume In This situation that the staff would be trained to make the experience better for the customer.
Love this place. We come here regularly. It is very unique and has a lot of history. A great place to bring tourists when they’re visiting!
The IPA is warm and flat, don’t order it!Place is nothing special at all, average at best!Way better choices around, avoid if you read this. If you’re already sitting there while reading this, order a Guinness, drink it and leave!
Well, Im not a Londoner, so not used to London pubs. Its VERY noisy downstairs and almost deserted upstairs! So take your pick.It is very handy if you have a train at Liverpool street, as its nearly outside the station.I normally end up here.... had food a few times, which is good.
We had a great time here, watching the rugby. The seating and table set up was great and close to the screen. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly the whole time and the food and drinks were perfect! Will definitely be rebooking in the future!
Love the interior look of the place, dont know how old this particular establishment is, but the beams and brickwork look as though they have been lived in for a long time and I mean that in the best possible way. Fast and friendly service. Oh, and they have beer which is always nice. Thanks!
We where really looking forward to have a Sunday roast, both a meat version and a vegetarian. So we where glad when we find it on the menu.So we ordered- but the waiter came back quickly and told us that there is no vegan Sunday roast left. So we asked if we could have the amendments from Sunday roast combined with a vegan dish.No that was not possible either….Not to impressed by the service or that the chef wasn’t able to make any vegetarian version what so ever.
Good, thats fine and there people young olso people old but its okay tonight is tonight the weekend
Really good red wines, I can especially recommend the last one on the list. For the first time I’ve seen a clean (actually cleanLadies room in a London pub- what a nice surprise! Tables are arranged in such a way that different customers are not disturbing one another. The customer service was faultless, waitresses taking empty glasses away discreetly, yet NOT trying to take it from you when you still drinking. Had fun there, thanks!
Dark dingey kinda place you might see in Oliver or the like. Its actually very nice in here with its exposed brick work and timbers. Staff are great in my experience. Right across the road from the station its always a first stop for me.
I was curious about this place, having heard about the history behind it. The interior was nice, with some cool looking historic wood and brick. The cabinet of curiosities was the main draw, but its a bit hidden away. Was super cool to see some of it, though.Ordered drinks at the bar and perhaps the server was new but he confused my drink order twice, which was hard because it was just a bottle. I was not given, nor offered, a glass.Went upstairs for food; it was Sunday so opted for the roast chicken, which was dry. The potatoes felt a tad undercooked and the Yorkshire pudding, which boasted double egg, was tough. There was a lot of salt in the food, which was not to my taste. I couldnt finish my meal. The wait staff were lovely and helpful, which is a plus.Overall, a one-off visit is fine but I would suggest avoiding the food.
Cocktails are great and a very cosy ambience. Both female bartenders were friendly and efficient!
I had a very disappointed Sunday Roast ever , Ive been before in like 10 pubs in London but this one , they use dont use fresh chicken , dry and already cooked microwave chicken , dry , not fresh as it should be a Sunday Roast . They bring it in 10 min which is never happened before ! A proper Sunday Roast take at least 25-30 min till its cooked and served . Which bring me back to the part which this Sunday roast called was microwaved all of it . Shame on British pub , is a British main dish should be cooked proper , but I guess the Chef is not even British to know how to cook it properly . More often happened costumer service is becoming worst and worst. I am not advising anyone to have a " Sunday Roast " here . Not satisfying at all . And other thing from proper lamb shoulder , changed in a cheaper way "Pressed shoulder of Lamb " some lamb pieces of meat put it on a plate .
Great bar for spending time catching up with friends. Reasonable selection of beers including a couple of beavertown offerings plus the usual refreshing lagers. Spent a lazy Sunday afternoon there during the Christmas buildup. Theres some interesting furniture to admire and an upstairs dining area also.
Honestly, was really hesitant to have dinner here. Was very loud upstairs upon entry and wasnt sure how good it was going to be. Boy was I mistaken! Aside from our service being pretty slow this place was so fun! Food was fantastic!! Loved how quaint this spot was.
Smashing place loved the decor almost has an old ship feel about it-really lovely...apparently theres a few levels but I could only see 2 as disabled there didnt look to be a way up! But there might have been I just didnt ask..they did food too & had friendly staff...definitely recommend just for the look & feel of the place
I personally love this place for a lot of things:- the decor: it looks inside a bit like a boat or a very vintage pub. Which is perfect.- staff - always friendly and really efficient.- prices - very reasonable for central London- sociable place - you can always count to meet someone as everyone here talks and enjoys themselvesLast but not least the music is super cheesy and amazing for nights out!
The old traditional pub with good history and from look you can feel that you are at some old British pub. Separate place for dining on first floor . Public rest room, good ambience and lighting. Various kind of craft beer and ale, wines served with good quality of food. You can have live music in evening and dance anywhere in pub. Good outside security. You can drink and smoke outside the pub. Overall a good place to have drinks.
Love this place for a quick drink. Traditional decor inside makes you feel back in time and it’s always busy with people with good music.Must visit this place for a fun drinking night. Also must try the mulled cider, it’s just amazing, better then mulled wine I have tried different places.
