Dirty Bird in Morgantown

Absolutely amazing food! Stopped in as we heard about the place but never went. Wife and I both had the 2 piece leg and breast with a order of mac and cheese and some mashed potatoes. The food was Absolutely incredible, possibly the best fried chicken ive ever had. I have no idea how they make it so golden crispy, without it being greasy in the slightest. While waiting for our food I was looking around at some of the dishes other customers had ordered. I was Absolutely drooling at some if the sandwiches that cane out if that kitchen. The service was great too, kind, friendly, and Absolutely ontop of anything we needed(boxes, refils etcwithout being overbearing.If you are in the area while they are open I cannot reccomend them enough.

The owner was talking with a vendor while we were here - he is obsessed with quality, and it shows! The chicken was amazing, the sides were fresh, and the seating was clean. If Im ever within 50 miles of this place again I will go out of my way to eat here again.

HUGE chicken sandwich!!! I ate half of a half (1/4of the sandwich and took the rest home! Fresh, Hot and you have to wait awhile because its made-to-order, but I didnt mind. Everyone LOVED their food! Just wish it was open MORE!!!😪 Currently closed for Summer Break & I am craving it! Family Owned. Not a chain restaurant. More authentic homemade food.

well.cooked Chicken ,but Had no seasoning at all.jus a mouth full.of bland chicken.Fyi If u cook plz stay in the back were u belong

Really good fried chicken. You will wait 15 minutes or so even if no one else is there, but thats because they make everything fresh. Very much worth the wait.

Stopped by for a midweek lunch.  We had originally stopped on the previous Friday but they were closed due to some water issue from an upstairs apartment.  There is not a lot of seating inside.  I think there are about 7-8 tables with some of them able to seat four people and other some four people.  We noticed they did a good amount of carry-out while we were there.  Parking was a bit of a challenge as all I saw was street metered parking $1 per hour.  The Dirty Bird is also located on a one-way street and there are other one-way streets in the area as well.  We parked on Walnut Street which is just past the eatery, we turned right and parked on the left side as this is a one-way street as well.  This place gets fresh chicken delivered every day and they advertise that it is halal as well.  Please know the hours they are opened can be affected by the number of people who come in on a particular day.  They close once they run out of chicken.  Pretty sure most items are cooked to order so it can take a little while for your order to come up. Our visit lasted one hour and twenty minutes.  We got a four-piece fried chicken and a Dirty Bird chicken sandwich.  The fried chicken was lightly breaded and tasted good but the Dirty Bird was fabulous.  It had two thick chicken breasts which were breaded on a biscuit.  It has brown gravy, and egg, bacon, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy on it.  The sausage gravy was excellent and the cheddar cheese was great on it as well.  The picture I posted with this review says it all.  If you are a first timer then know that you order at the counter and they will bring it to you when it is ready.  There are some menus at the counter to look at before ordering and they do a pretty good job of cooking the orders in the order they receive them so you can feel a bit rushed if there is a line.  Even more so if you are by yourself and want to eat inside, especially, if there is a table open when you arrive.  This is the first place I have been to in a long time where the food was topnotch and everything went smoothly.  Would I go again?  Absolutely!  How far would I go out of my way? 1 hour (maybe a little further)

First time there. Will recommend and will be returning. Everything is made fresh.I Had the "Hot Betty" sandwich. Wife had the "Plain Jane" sandwich. Both were EXCELLENT. Fries were great too.

Great food. And plenty of it. The bun was firm but soft and held the juicy chicken, pickles and cheese. The fries were crispy. Delicious.

Good. I took take out and the food was AMAZING! The sandwich was HUGE, so one half was enough. Takes long time and has limited amount of chicken but other than that, its AMAZING!

Best place to eat in town! Their fried chicken is juicy, tender & crisp & just the way I like it. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Relaxed informal atmosphere and great location in town.

We had lunch here today. Owner was very friendly, food was great one of if not the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Fresh, chrispy chicken the biscuits bacon egg cheese and gravy was great together. Will be a repeat customer for sure.

This place offers awesome fried chicken! Also liked their french fries very much! All the chicken items are halal. Only flip side is they close early, 4:30! The tables were nice and clean too! Very friendly environment.

Amazon place and well worth the wait. As an out of towner I cannot complain. Our first time and service was great. Apparently they have reopened since the pandemic. If visiting in town and looking for some unique chicken this is the place.

used to go here everyday when I was in college and pregnant, I literally love this place! Best fried chicken ever! even being home in VA I think about it all the time! such a good place to eat! I cannot wait to visit. It is made fresh so it is pipping hot when you order, Kim is so nice and she takes her time ot get to know everyone, the place is clean and cozy and the mac n cheese is so good! miss this place so much Ill see you all next weekend

This is the first restaurant I have been to that has such poor customer service! I do delivery as my side hustle and I went to deliver an order for a customer who ordered via Postmates, before I walked in the customer asked to add an order of bread. When I went to put in the order, the proprietors immediately started giving attitude saying that Postmates always messes up orders at which point I told them that I am just trying to do my job, I am not a representative of Postmates. At which point they asked to speak to the customer, I was kind enough to let them speak to the customer on my phone and when he asked to add 10 pieces of bread, the proprietors completely lost it and started shouting at me that they are not going to complete that order simply because the customer asked to add 10 pieces of bread. At this point I called Postmates and let them know what’s going on and the proprietors started shouting that they dont want orders from Postmates! Who does that? This was an order well over$50! You have a delivery service bringing orders to your doorstep and instead you shout at the delivery person and call me ignorant for doing my job! Well guess what, you shouted at the wrong delivery person coz I fight back! If you have an issue with Postmates square it out with them, dont shout at me with your BS! PS we’re in the internet age, if you dont like delivery apps your loss, go back to the stone age!! Happy holidays😎

😀 The turkey was fantastic, but my one complaint is I cant always count on them being open. 😕 Theyll close over summer when the students are on break, but even when seasons change they might still take the day off.

Long wait, even at opening, but amazingly good food. Friendly cashier. No frills place serving quality food, crowd is friendly. Easy parking. Very reasonable prices.

Amazing food but you can’t ever get it because they’re always closed. I get that they close when they run out of chicken but just order some more chicken and stay open longer than just a few hours a day. Ive suspected this place of being a drug front for a while because even if they own the building I don’t see how that business could possibly sustain itself on those hours. I quit even trying to get food there because it’s just a waste of time and it’s a shame because it really is some of the best food in town. Definitely the best chicken

Best chicken I’ve ever ate in my entire life that place slaps so hard. Mac n cheese FIRE it got bacon and great taste. Hot sauce FIRE I put that on everything. Their biscuits are guess what... FIRE little joints are perfect. It’s not only my favorite restaurant in Morgantown but in the whole world that place is SO FIRE I LOVE IT!

Dirty Bird specializes in chicken. They are Masters of The Craft. I have had chicken around the world and this is some of the best chicken I have ever had. Such a treat.

Great food and amazing portions! For being downtown right on high street there is a decent amount of seating. They also had some high chairs for the kiddo. The kiddo loved the fried chicken tenders so that was also a win! The price was good for the amount of food you get and the service was also good.

Best chicken place in the world! They should put me on the payroll because I tell everyone to go there and every year when I have training I always make sure we eat there at least once its hard to find a place were everything is good and at this place everything is good I mean everything!

When I walked down high street with a black hole agrowing in my whittle tummy I thought, "Ive been a good boy lately I need to treat myself to a big juicy borgor and a cup of cold cream."WRONG!Instead I filled my mouth and stomach and throat with smashed potato, flaky butter bread and of course crispy chicken loaf.I love this place and I recommend it to everyone who has a pulse.

I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, my wife had the eponymous Dirty Bird, and my friend had the turkey sandwich. All the sandwiches were delicious. Mine and my wifes were a huge mess (get those two to stay), and the turkey sandwich was stacked so high with fillings and toppings, my friend didnt quite know how to approach it. Everything tasted great and the service was friendly, if a bit slow. The atmosphere was good, but not remarkable. I would definitely recommend stopping in.

Easily some of the best food in town. Super friendly owners, great conversations and service. Always top-notch. The food quality is superb, and everything there will impress.

This is one of the insider places in Morgantown. The owners run a wonderful place. The food never disappoints. The chicken, the great tuna sandwich, the maccheese are some of the delights on the menu. Get there before 4 p.m. to make sure you get to enjoy this wonderful lunch spot.

I have mixed feelings. The food is great . I love the chicken and sides . The staff and owners are always friendy and helpful . The location is rough to get too and I never know when the hell they are open . No hyperbole, its closed half the time I try to go there.

Great little diner in the WV University college town. Unique sandwiches, great fried chicken & friendly owners. So much better than your typical fast food joint! I had the Dirty Bird Sandwich-super filling & my hubby had the fried chicken...both were DELISH!! Well worth the little drive off the highway to get there! After lunch we walked to The Grind for coffee & the Cupcake shop for dessert. Nice break on our drive from D.C. back to Ohio!!

Wish Id found this place sooner! Absolutely delicious. A little expensive for a college kid budget, at ~$10+ for a sandwich, but its two full meals for me. My only complaint is the limited hours.

Dirty Bird has the best fried chicken in town - no question about it. They also happen to have amazing sides -- in my opinion, theirs is the best mac n cheese, the best collard greens (when theyre in stock!), and the best green beans. Usually food like this is overly salty -- they do well to control this (except for the green beans, for some reason). One of my favorite restaurants in town. Halal certified, too.

Okay, I have had fried chicken in four countries and probably 20 states. This may be my favorite chicken yet. It is always fresh and made to order. Serving sizes are huge and staff is fun. This place needs to be on TV.

This place is great, they source local ingredients and the food is incredibly fresh and tasty. Its one of those places where you should try everything out on the menu. Staff is extremely friendly as well and the establishment is clean and well kept.
