Dining In The Dark KL - Fine dining restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A very special experience, the environment is truly dark, no matter how hard you open your eye, you still cannot see anything, just listen some others people talking and slowly taste the food, improve our senses. Besides, also is a good time to chitchat in a dark environment with your love one 😊
Nice experience with dining in dark, totally use of sense to taste the food, recommend for couple, anniversary event. Staff was so friendly, have surprised if pre inform any birthday celebration
Dined here probably 8 years ago, planned to do my proposal here, but didnt. Long story short, brought my wife here for her birthday last week instead.Pro:- Fantastic dining experience- Youre paying for the experience, not food. But it does taste goodCon:- If you or guest have phobia of darkness
A wonderful and different experience altogether. Good food and lovely service. Glad we could be part of supporting a good cause
FOOD : 2 EXPERIENCE: 8I have to start saying that I am a Chef and I do this job for 20 years already, so maybe my opinion can be a bit to hard ... I guess if you are not into food you will probably like it but for me was a waist of time and money for the quality of the food that they offered.Saying that I have to admit that the total experience is pretty cool. The entrance where you wait for get your table and the briefing about your upcoming experience is very nice .The staff is lovely and the blind waiter that assist us during the dinners did a great job.Unfortunately the food was a joke for me.Everything was no seasoning right. The food was very boring and with no emotions and zero creativity.Portion very small .No way to get some service water or bread .They only try to sell you the mineral or sparkling bottle of water .I will not recommend to go at this restaurant for the food , but if you have money and time to spend and want to try something different, the overall experience is something new and interesting, and for me is nice to try to guess every single ingredient used for every dish.Trust me, was very easy since the food was so sadly banal .If you are not into food like I am, I think that will be a cool experience. At the end the day, they are giving Jobs to people with visual disabilities so it will be for a good cause.I hope that with my review I can help people like me that go there wit a big expectation and leave a bit disappointed. There are many good restaurant , food court , street food , for any kind of taste and wallet in KL .Dont loose the opportunity to have something better and cheaper.
When I invited my husband to Dining In The Dark, I thought it will be a fun experience. But it turned to be a deeply spiritual experience - facing my own flows and imperfections. Without sight I am incapable to recognize taste, I failed badly on this test. I am not coodrinated and using a fork without visual reference became a challenge. My sense of touch is very basic, orientation - bad. It is hard to see myself in the mirror, but this is what this restaurant did.Highly recommended for everyone who wants too stop for a while, break from life where attention span has 3 seconds. Here lack of distractiion is guaranteed, focus on the important - like finding the hand of your loved one - becomes primordial.
Had a really amazing experience dining here. Our guide AK was fantastic as he guided us into the dining area and explained to us about the whole course. What to expect here - you will be dining in complete darkness, and no distractions with you as you’ll be leaving your phones and watches in the locker. Will need to use all your senses except for sight to enjoy the dining experience. I’ve never had to use just smell and taste to eat, and it was mind blowing that certain food tastes very different when you can’t see them.I’ve enjoyed the soup the most, as it was the most mind-blowing experience after the menu was revealed at the end.If you have the opportunity to try this, go for it!
Its a memorable experience dining in pitch dark. I had fun trying to guess what we were having. I was putting my senses to full use. Im pleased with the service provided. Food may not be up to my taste but its the great experience that I enjoyed.
Awesome experience to dine in the dark. You do not know what you eat but overall experience I enjoyed how we challenge our senses to enjoy the foods.
By fine dining standards the food is good but if you expect unique flavours or molecular gastronomy then youre probably missing the point. You cannot compare this to regular fine dining. For one, the plating doesnt matter since you cant see it. Another is that youre probably experiencing food youd probably had before if youre a veteran foodie. The main appeal is the fact that everything is pitch black. The menu isnt shown to us so when we were eating, a few items felt familiar but we couldnt guess what it was. For example the 4 of us had the soup and we were trying to guess what it was. One said it was lobster bisque, two others said mushroom & chicken. But we were all completely wrong, the soup was completely vegetarian 😂. The person who said it was lobster bisque is a seafood lover. Which makes us sorta realize how our experiences with food affect how we judge food. Like how he thought it was seafood and we thought it was chicken.
Not only was the experience novel and exciting, but the food was also excellent and the portions were plenty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant and unique dinner experience. Absolutely worthwhile.
Didnt have a chance to take any single picture as its place name, dining in the dark is the only experience you take your meal in the dark but so romantic hewhew
Our first experience with dining in the dark restaurant during our anniversary celebration on 20/5/22.Went there with my 12 years old daughter. All of us have an enjoyable day there. The staff was friendly especially Yus and Jonathan. The food was delicious and we were having fun trying to guess the ingredients of the food that we have eaten.Yus was very friendly and meticulous when explaining to us on the whereabouts of the food and item.Well done and keep up the good work !
Awesome palate experience, 4 appetisers, 3 mains, 5 dessert all eaten in pitch dark with Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder & Chef Christine Ha
Great experience and would visit again. However, the food quality was like 7/10 and that could be understood due to the limitations on food serving/eating and the focus is to test your senses and not full enjoy the food.
Excellent experience. Second time here and my guests thoroughly enjoyed itm one of the waitstaff were coughing and sniffing heavily which was worrying given the covid situation. Honestly that made us a bit wary about cleanliness and safety. But all in all I would recommend this place if youre looking for an experiential dining. Bar manager was also extremely friendly and courteous. Wine was divine, good selections.
A very great experience having dinner in an absolute dark environment, a big shout out to the restaurant for the employment of blind in the service!
An establishment that enables the blind to gain employment. We had a surprise birthday dinner here for a friend. Quite an experience...menu is made known after all is done. Its interesting menu that we either get partially an ingredient or two but many others will throw the scent off. Wine pairing is optional. To maintain the experience no cameras are allowed inside the dining area. They are kept in a locker throughout. The good thing is the menu is regularly altered to keep dining experience fresh.
Unique concept and nice dining experience. No phone, so you can focus and enjoy the dishes with your love one without any interruption. You can also feel the kindness of waiter and their passionate on their job.
I honestly have an amazing experience here... I can vouch that while you dine, its pitch black. The staff especially Jonathan and AK is trained and extremely accommodating to my needs. And I like as well that they include a lot of tiny dishes in a meal so your taste buds keeps getting stimulated. I would definitely recommend to other fellows to at least have a try :good job guys
Good services, helpful staff and waitresses, suitable for a memorable date /birthday/anniversary celebration.
It was my first fine dining in an absolute dark environment. Very good experience with this dining, especially Marcus, he explained everything and tried to calm us in the dark. Food and price is tasty and reasonable respectively.
A MUST experience in our life.I truthly respect to them(blind).Really challenge, excited, and surprise on the food you take.AK was the best waiter I ever met, me n my girlfriend appreciated his service. To who read this, this definitely your choice to spend time of two.
Fabulous experience and the food is just great. First time to really enjoy the food purely tru taste and smell. The staff was very courteous. Just great.
It was an absolutely unique experience to dine in complete darkness. We had a small blinded game at the bar before entering to the dining hall. When youre ready, youll be guided by the staff to your designated seat. While dining, It felt that ones sense of taste and smell will be amplified. Not to mention the sense of hearing became sensitive to a point where you are very much aware of the sound around you. Definitely recommended.
Very nice and fun experiences! A very good place for you to eat without phone, experienced the time without any light and understand the importance of taking care of your eyes. Our waiter, Yus is friendly and nice as well. He will guide us step by step on how to enjoy the food. Strongly recommended place
It was an amazing experience, when you enter they give you welcome drink and you have to guess and then you play a game with blindfolded. Once your table is ready you are escort to your table by the waiter. The restaurant is pitch dark and you are served your food in a player style. I enjoyed the experience. Would recommend other to try this out. Wont say much as I dont want to spoil the surprise waiting for you ☺️
Had a wonderful experience. I would say one of its kind and something that everyone must experience in their lifetime. Our guide AK was super friendly and made our dining experience better. A pleasure for the taste buds.
Legit once in a lifetime experience, if you ever plan to bring a special one, this is the place to go. However I must say, dont put such high expectations on the food, it is essentially termed as fine dine but decent at best. Ricardo has been a huge help in the calls and kudos to the assistance given, but my advice, do a better job at wording your words when you meet them, and never make it too obvious in rushing customers when its at the end. Apart from that, the only negative aspect about this place will be the outdoor lounge area, unfortunately very underwhelming. Overall, great experience first time, second time? Probably not. But you get my vote for recommending DITD to my friends.P.S. The waiters were superbly awesome, 5 stars here.
..There’s nothing daunting or scary bout this, dining in the dark Kl, a sensory dining in absolute darkness, the lost of sight for 90min, became a sudden realisation that human brain is most impressive in it’s ability to adapt to individual circumstances. Your disabilities turn into ability. From the vast of tangy lemon sauce to pleasant burst of sweet & sour passion fruit, everything tasted & smelled MORE. Will be back for further sensory adventure !...#foodforthegram #klfoodie #buzzfeast #eattheworld #foodporn #instafood #kl #klfood #klfoodie #klfoodhunter #klfoodhunt #klfood
Great experience, well run. Props to Rada the waiter who helped us through the whole process. Would highly recommend for dates.
The food was really really good! Big portion. I came out super full. Our guide, AK was really kind and super professional. Don’t know how he works in the dark but he was amazing. The menu was a complete surprise! Me and my husband really had fun. It was an amazing experience! Definitely repeating <3
A unforgettable experience as eating and drinking in the dark for short time as we will more focus in hearing and conversations. Service is excellent as I’m very glad to see the actual blind people serving us. Will might find it hard to get free park but as long to keep your car safe, it’s ok
A fantastic place for a romantic dinner with your loved ones. Yes. You wont be able to see each other, or the food, but thats when youll realize beautiful real conversation is. Its an experience you should try at least once in your lifetime. I tried it twice, and I didnt regret it at all.. It cost roughly 320 for Two pax. The food is excellent.. Their service is superb. The place is kept clean. You might find it hard to get free parking around that area, cos most of it is paid ones, which is OK if you want your car to be safe..
Excellent dining experience. Not just in terms of taste but to feel our way thruout the dining experience for the fork, spoon. Eating the dishes from bottom right anti clockwise. Listening to the instructiom given by the service crew is very important. Got Marcos as our crew. He is awesome and excellent!! In terms of taste, its definitely putting out taste bud to test. The surprise you will get after realising some of the dishes real ingredients. #MindblownChange of menu every 3months. Highly recommended
Brand new experience for us! Staffs are really friendly and accommodating. How they prepare and set up the food experience is well-thought-out.
Do plan to arrive early to make your appointment. Fantastic concept. They will give a eye mask and enter into. The views are are surprised after open the eye mask. Happy to see jobs given for actual blind people as servers here and theyve excelled in giving a superb service. Enjoyed the element of surprise. Actually my loving wife prepared the surprise treat for me.i really impressed with it..
AMAZING experience and Im super picky. Lol. I dont want to ruin it for yall but come with an empty belly. Its 3 courses...technically but you get several tastings of each course. Our waiter, Marcus was FAB and so was the host Jayson. They were all friendly and were patient with my dumb questions ☺️ Do it!
Food was good, however, be early if you really wish to be on time, the traffic jam can be quite bad. There are also bars along the stretch of road if you are interested in drinksThese are the things I went through1warm up drink to try and guess what ingredients are inside2mini games, blindfolded to warm up your sense of touch3food and dining in the dark!4guessing the final dishes and seeing the whole menu served to youDo emphasize your food allergies especially if it is a serious one
Good first time experience dining in a dark room. The whole dining experience is a great sensation from start to finish. The waitresses are very helpful and friendly. They will guide you throughout the entire dining process. Although the food were decent at best, its really the dining in the dark experience that really shine. Tips: Prebook online for a discounted price.
Fantastic and unique experience! Have always wanted to give this dining experience a try, why not? Made my booking online with some discount. As you head up to the restaurant, already you get the feel of whats to come, low lighting and calm ambience awaits you and your partner. You will be seated in front of the bar as they prepare you for dinner, they served a virgin aperitif and asked us to guess the ingredients. Next was a blindfold game and then it was time to go in for dinner. Handphones and watches will be kept in a locker, basically anything that reflects or produced light, stored my glasses as well since Ill have no use for it😂Our servers were visually impaired and would lead us to our table, I thought this was brilliant and proud to support this establishment who employed such servers, if you think about it, who better to guide you than those who live everyday in darkness.I would recommend to dine as a couple because this experience forces you to a different level of intimacy and communication, there were groups and other partners during my experience. There was 1 table with a cantonese speaking aunty which made me feel like I was in a kopitiam.4 course meal with each meal being a mystery. As you are served each dish, your server will explain and suggest the best way to consume your dish. This is where the fun begins and you have to teach yourself to eat again. The room is completely pitch black and you cant even see your ✋ in front of your face.Guys, if youre coming because of the food and easily irritated for not knowing what youre eating then dont waste your time here. The food actually is delicious but I know some people cant stand or are picky about what theyre going to eat. Have heard of an experience where someone was very frustrated spending so much and unable to see if youve finish everything on your plate.Completely enjoyed my time and meal experience, felt like a kid try new foods again. The restaurant changes menu every 3 months and everything was pleasant and exciting for the first time. Definitely will come back to see if the experience could be replicated.
What an experience to enjoy food in total darkness. You have no idea what coming next. No phone allowed in the dining area. You will need to keep your mobile phone, watches, bags in a locker.
Awesome dinner with full of surprises walking through the darkness and feeling completely not in control. Good place for gathering with friends and fellowship. Food quality is comparatively good and pretty kind of discovery too. U need to book in advance. Go online booking, there are promotions there from time to time. Overall satisfactory. They will give u vouchers after the dinner to upset u to another restaurant opposite to have a drink and chill
I was thinking of not going to this. I mean who the hell wants to eat in pitch dark conditions? Somehow I promised my wife and I went with her. Im glad I did, because it was really intriguing. Gave me a sense of appreciation that I can see and that Im not blind which something I believe alot of normal people takes it for granted. It was amazing experience and the food taste awesome.
Superb great experience at dining in the dark. Boom, the room was total pitch black that you couldnt even see your hand. An experience that words cant justify less u try it for your own. Before we started the courses in the pitch black room, the waitress served us drinks and played some games to get us to the dining experience. Four main courses in total was served, for me and my friends the food was good. Staff were very very friendly and polite. Overall a wonderful dining experience.
If youre looking for a different dinning experience, this is the perfect place. The name of the restaurant explain itself. You will eat your food in total pitch black, I love it, because somehow my other senses become sharper, and we have to guess what we eat. When is the last time you eat without your phone and actually talk about the food in front of you? This the best place to reconnect again with your food. Our waitress is partially blind, its also parr of the experience, we can experience the feeling of blind people, it makes me appreciate myself more after eat at this restaurant.
Been hearing about this places for many times and finally tried it for my bf birthday celebration. To sum up it’s a darkness, taste bud and no handphone challenge. It’s a pretty cool experience guessing what we eat and some of the food come to our surprise. Our visual impaired guide/ waiter AK is very friendly and engaging.(Dress code: smart to semi formal. But why is there a dress code when we are dining in total darkness when no one can even see us? Hmmm)
great experience and i love the food served. 4 types of appetizer, 2 type of soups, 3 types of main course and 5 types of desserts. service is great too. menu changes every 3 months so can definitely revisit again. got a small souvenir at the end of our meal, thoughtful and warming gift.
Had a fantastic experience here. If you can afford it and have a group to go with, this is a must do in KL. The novelty of this place is that its a totally pitch black room where they guide you in to sit down, and serve you 4 courses of food. You have to use your senses other than sight to work out what the food is, and to eat it. From memory it was about 118 RM for just the food, and an additional 50 or 60 RM for paired wines (2 glasses of wine). The waiters in this room are actually vision impaired people themselves.
My hubby had a such good experience here! We love the food and services which makes our KL trip a perfect ending. Definitely recommend to anyone that wants a new sensational experience:-)
