Ding Taifeng - Taiwanese restaurant in Hong Kong, China
Ding Taifeng in Hong Kong
Description
Privilege
If youre there, do give this a shot. No one makes egg fried rice like Din Tai Fung. But of all the outlets Ive been to around the world, this is my least favourite.
More🤮Overrated. So not worth it’s price. Food quality was poor. How did it even get Michelin awarded?! So disappointed. I would never go back to any of its branches again (it’s London branch was just as bad too!)
MoreBest soup dumplings in the world, perhaps second only to Taiwan, the origin of this.
MoreDecent branch of this chain restaurant. Four stars for the food, but had to take away at least one star for the insanely high prices being charged
MoreTook a group of 5 which was perfect . We ate almost everything on the menu. The long bao were awesome. I hope to go back someday.
MoreThis is my favorite restaurant that I frequently visit. Quality of food and services are consistently excellent. Expect long line up at peak hour in non covid time, approx 1hr. One interesting fact is they have developed over 200 SOP for the staff to follow to make sure the quality are consistent across all branches. Also visited the Singapore branch few years ago, also excellent.
MoreWe usually go to the Causeway Bay location, but this one is far less busy... No wait for a table at lunchtime!
Morekeeping food quality and taste is not easy. dumpling, fry rice, noodles, springs roll is very yummy but the dish seems small. maybe cost issue. successful management shop
MoreBeen a fan for many years across many different cities. Not sure that was worth sharing, but anyway.Just to clear up the address, its in the Silvercord building on Canton Road (level 3), in case you are looking for directions.I like the service at this restaurant as they are always happy, polite and try to help.Food is always on point and comes out at a decent pace to not totally cover your table and leave you with no wriggle room.If you have never been, I recommend it.
MoreWe have been to this restaurant countless times, it is one of better branches of the famous Ding-tai-fung chain, we like this branch and the one in Miramar, because both offer spacious, airy and pleasant seating. Service is also slightly better than others. The food as always with all DTF branches have always been totally consistent in quality. A highly recommended restaurant, their xioa-lung-bao are the best ever anywhere in the world.
MoreNot a good branch - service is lackadaisical, food comes out slowly, some of the ingredients tasted not fresh (fried porkor were over cooked (chicken).
MoreFamous cheap Michelin star restaurant. Gets pretty busy, the food is good for the price, nothing special in my opinion
MorePlace look much nicer without mainland tourist. And they treat local customers much better nowadays. The food are great and tasty
MoreTaiwan food with Shanghai cuisine touch par excellence, fresh, tasty and friendly...
MoreReally good dumplings. All of the food was tasty. Service is very good also.
The most amazing soup dumplings Ive ever had. We ate so much that we had to take out peach shaped red bean buns home! The container they gave is was $2HKD but its reusable and microwaveable which is awesome.Incredible service and the food is worth everything.
MoreLarge restaurant in fancy mall. Very clean, good service and top dim sum.
Well deserved 1 michelin star. Just upon entering the restaurant you are greeted and given a comfortable seat as they bring you the menu. Not your typical resto where the waiters take your orders, in this case you have to tick the box of the item you want. What amazes me is that with in 10 minutes half of our orders were already served and we were totally elated by the simplicity of the presentation yet the taste of each food served tastes fantastic. My first experience of dinning at a resto with a michelin star makes me want to try more. I would definitely recommend this place.
MoreIt’s a bit over-hyped. The pork xiao long bao are pretty good, but they definitely need the soy sauce, ginger, and vinegar. The shrimp and squash xiao long bao were pretty tough and not flavorful. I would stick to the classic if you come here. The staff are very nice, but there are better (and cheaperplaces to eat than Din Tai Fung.
MoreMichelin o michelen... din tai Fung with many many stars. Spacy place and cozy super price but worth every taste of it....
MoreFantastic little spot to pop by if youre in Hong Kong and want to go for dumplings. We went for some chicken and pork dumplings. Both of which were delicious. We also went for some fried pork chop and noodle soup which was good but relatively plain. We got there around 12 on a Sunday and were seated straight away (we were expecting a wait!). Service was Swift and friendly and by the time we left at about 1 the place was heaving and people were waiting outside. If youre looking for this restaurant you need to go inside the shopping centre and up to the 3rd floor. The directions on Google maps are a little tricky!
MoreThis restaurant is in East side of Canton Road. Google GPS is not perfect - I hope I can save u 10 min of walking around. Look for the Chow Sang Sang entrance. The mall is called Silvercord with a purple color (see my photos). Take escalators to 3rd floor. Very good dining experience. Top experience. The dumplings had the thinnest skin ever but the soup was still in there. Double check your markings. The truffles dumplings may be a bit over the top - I cannot say I know the difference. BTW no need to tip ! Don’t carry your bad American habits here - a 10% charge is already built in.
MoreDin Tai Fung is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Been there several times over several stays in Hong Kong. I admit, I just love Din Tai Fung. Food is absolutly premium. Pork and chicken dumplings are an absolute must! Never miss a chance to dine at Din Tai Fung. Go there get surprised, fall in love!🤩
MoreDin Tai Fung is our family’s go-to joint whenever we are in HK...even if they now have a branch in Manila, we still continue with our tradition of going at least once when in town.We love the Silvercord branch…we go there early when the mall opens, shop at the stores nearby, and then meet up at DTF for lunch. Since we are a big group, we opt for a private room. Their service is fast and good. They even have kiddie menus, colorful dishes and cups for the toddlers in our group. Some of our favorite dishes:The Tossed shredded beancurd & seaweed & bean sprout and Sliced cucumber with chili & garlic appetizers are a must order! Another favorite is the String bean w/ minced pork & mini dry shrimps and the pan-fried shrimp & pork dumpling, sautéed fresh water shrimps – YUM!!! And of course, last but not least is the TDF original Xiao Long Bao.
MoreVery nice Taiwanese dim sum, dumplings and noodles. Very good allergy details available, comfortable high chairs for children and quick service. Good clean toilets with super effective air-conditioning making it a bit cold. Food was delicious, must have signature dish is dumplings with soup in them, dipped in soya and vinegar. Also try Angus beef with ginger and spring onion.
MoreFirst time trying the beef noodle and it’s delicious! The meat is a mix of lean and fatty meat pieces and they are very tender. The portion of noodle is not much so suggest in ordering an appetiser. On a side note, the tea is a bit strong for my taste so I asked for a pot of water to dilute it down. Lastly the cashier lady must be having a bad day, no smile, not a single word, no eye contact too.Aside from that all is good and if it’s your first time coming you must try their dumplings, veggie bun and other cold dishes.
MoreOne Michelin star Taiwanese restaurant with a very tasteful menu.Their dim sum options are great and very tasty. We really enjoyed all the things we tried. I strongly recommend their steamed dumplings.Staff are professional and attentive. The restaurant can get rather busy in the evenings but it is spacious enough.Definitely recommended, one of the best dinners we had in Hong Kong.
MoreGreat Taiwanese food with tidy environment and comfy sitting arrangement are key successful factors of this restaurant. They can keep a very consistent food quality on my every visits. I strongly recommend you try it.
MoreI love Xiao long bao.. very very good . They have a new flavour that is truffle with pork >> not good. Thenoodle with porkchop so delicious. Stir fry beef with ginger and scallion very tasty 👍👍👍Service is great .
MoreI love Din Tai Fung. I love their xiao long bao. And one day I will visit Taiwan. But this branch at Silvercord Centre is just so consistent, and the dishes they produce are so delicious!! 😋😋😋
MoreAlways busy. Average service. Average food. Fast food. Seating time limit.
The Michelin star for this restaurant is deserved. The service is fast and everything is very well organized. You get a number in the waiting list and order by marking dishes and quantities on a sheet of paper. The waiting times are a lot shorter than other Michelin restaurants, e.g. Tim Ho Wan or One Dim Sum.The food is very delicious and easy to choose from the detailed descriptions in the menu. The waiters are smiling, especially one of the managers. The restaurant accepts credit cards.
MoreOne of the top Chinese restaurants with a Michelin star it offers great Taiwanese dumplings at a reasonable price. Pork dumplings are delicious! Good and fast service. Recommendable
MoreWorth a visit if youre craving soup dumplings. They have a wide variety of dishes, hit or miss but stick to the more popular items and you should be fine. Its a bit hard to find since this location is located on the 3rd floor of the building. Close to the main TST/Nathan Road area so its within distance of the main hotels. Tourist friendly with English speakers/menu
MoreBest place I have eaten at in Hong Kong so far. The pork dumplings, the spicy shrimp/pork wontons, and beef with ginger are fantastic. Highly recommend the green beans with shrimp as well. Quick service. On pricier side but worth it. Highly recommend.
MoreKind of ridiculous that they only let you sit for 1.5hrs you have to leave after that. But the Siu long bao and potstickers are awesome. Love the food. 100% recommend.
MoreI tried the braised beef noodles. It was excellent. The fried rice with egg is also quite amazing.
MoreThe chain restaurant comes from Taiwan. The food quality could be little different due to the chef of each restaurant
MoreOne of the best restaurants ever. This is my favorite restaurant in HK. Everything tastes fantastic. The noodles and wonton are definitely the best in town, the shrimps are really fresh for wontons. Xiao long bao is a must have item! The menus here are in chinese, english, japanese and korean. Although there are always lots of customers waiting for a meal, the wait usually won’t be long, just around 15mins. Service are great, the staff will greet and serve you politely.
MoreIts Din Tai Fung! Not the best branch Ive visited, but the xaiolongbao is great. The photos are a bit misleading because it gets full very quickly and shortly after the photos were taken it was completely full on a Monday.
MoreWhat a meal! This is by far one of the best Xiao long bao restaurants in the world, no exaggeration. Couldnt get too many photos of the food cause we were too busy eating it. Everything we ate was outstanding. Soup dumplings are the specialty of the house cant go wrong with anything on the menu there.. Dont miss it!
MoreAlways great to dine at Din Tai Fung. The Xiao Long Bao taste exactly the same in all locations, which makes it a trusted flavor youll want anywhere around the world!
MoreA friend who grew up in Hong Kong took me here and I’m so glad she did. The soup dumplings are to die for! In fact, everything we ate was delicious. Portions are not American sized which is probably good, but it was a little bit more money. It was worth it in the end.The service was great and the food was very quick. When the soup dumplings came we were given a card that gave notice that one of the dumplings had burst in transport to the table 😂 so they ended up giving us an extra and it came in it’s own steamer. Like a king in a bed. It was a good laugh. I like that they take their business seriously.Overall great experience. Not the best I’ve ever had but also not disappointed. Thanks Din Tai Fung!
MoreDelicious food! A bit pricey compared to other places but a great experience. Another michelin starred restaurant with a wait to get in.
MoreSince my wife is from Taiwan she wanted to take me to take me to this famous restaurant. Lucky us we arrive early (7PMand we don’t have to wait for a table.A hostess take us to our table, I was able to film inside (not all restaurant will accept that). Then we start to order. The people who work there are dedicated to customers, great service; you wish you can find this everywhere. The Dim Sum is excellent, this place is 1 Michelin Star but the price is reasonable. Actually cheaper than my country (Belgium).Couple days later we try the Tokyo Shinjuku Din Tai Fung, was not as great as this one in Hong-Kong.
MoreDeeply disappointed.. reviews were so good this was my last meal before departing Hong Kong. Decently not one I would like to remember. Dim sum was ok.. nothing you wont find in any simple dim sum place, the braised beef was tasteless, left more then half and also half of the dim sum. Would definitely recommend to try a different place.
MoreReally nice branch of a well-known dim sum franchise. Great service, nice location and delicious food.
MoreHuge selection of handmade dim sum. Famous for their broth filled dumplings you eat with soy and vinegar. Good for groups as well.
MoreFood and service are maintaining their standard but extremely overpriced now. $90 HKD for a fried rice, dumplings are $10 each. Complete ripped off.
More“Crap service, delicious dumplings”Ive been to 3 other Din Tai Fung restaurants in the world and this has got to be the worst for service, once again my biggest gripe with restaurants is that the chefs prepare such delicious food and the incompetent wait staff undo all the good the chef has done. My advice, be aware of what you have ordered and what they serve as they stuffed our order up 3 times and it was always my bloody fault. Absolutely bloody useless!!!!!!!
