Best club in town for rock and metal

First time going out on a Saturday night since the pandemic began, as well as my first time going to DingDong. It was a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly, bathrooms were surprisingly clean, and some guy twice my age and half my height hit on me. And to top it all off, I tested positive for covid 3 days later, and considering I had never been in such close contact with other people since before the pandemic, Im pretty certain I caught it here. So thank you Ding Dong for not only providing a good time, but getting me a week off of work.

I now want to dig under my house to have my own Ding Dong Lounge! So good!

The comedy events are good although its a shame that after so many years they havent learnt that people can find the layout plus notice confusing. To illustrate: the notice will say that theres comedy in Ding Dong, a person arrives, sees a large room with nothing happening and leaves without realising that theyre meant to walk upstairs and turn right to find the smaller room.I have no idea why they blast people with UV-rays as they walk upstairs.The upstairs room with the comedy has a good ventilation system.

Great atmosphere, definitely recommend this place to chill out with your mates and see local bands, especially if youre into rock music. Staff were very accommodating as well and super easy to get along with (shout-out to Ethan!). It was my first time visiting this bar, loved the experience, definitely wont be the last :)

Really friendly staff, Tuesday comedy night was a fabulous crowd, awesome drinks and food looked great too. Music was on a playlist, but will be back on a DJ night! My new favorite place ❤ 🎸

Courteous staff. Very good music. The typical 80s and 90s popular music. Overall a nice place. When I visited the was a private party there. But I feel this place should host some really nice crowd.

Typical small rock venue. Bit run down. Live music upstairs from lots of different kiwi bands. Sound quality can be rough. If you like wearing black and headbanging on sticky floors then this venue is for you!

Love this place! Great rock & metal music, half decent whisky collection and good staff. Brilliant night out or after a gig type party.

Nice rock bar, busy after 9. Great for drinks with friends and rock music. Best with a group but dont expect to have a meal while there, there is some good finger food on offer.

A dungeon bar graced with peaceful freaks and lovely weirdos. Dance floor comes with a stripper pole. Also includes cozy leather couches for those too cool to dance.

Great beer choice, and if you go on a Wednesday they have super-cheap prices on great craft beers. The only down side for me was the music - it was pretty heavy and quite loud for a lounge bar. That said, Ill be back on Wednesdays for those prices. Oh, and you can vape here on Wednesdays too.

I was a regular and requested a song as all the dj was playing was really depressing emo music and I wanted to liven the place up a bit as me and my friend were the only ones dancing. I regulary request songs from other djs. Idk her name or anything sorry. She shook her head and I was like why not? And she said because I don’t like it. Like I’m sorry that you don’t enjoy my song but would you rather have an empty dance floor? I left after that and have been maybe once or twice since. There was no theme that night it seemed to be just her favourite songs which were really boring and no one obviously knew them. I just felt a bit let down ya know. Just be nicer about it and don’t make the customers feel embarrassed about their song choice.

Good little grungy rock bar. I used to play at this bar on Friday nights. Its edgy, dim lit, good crowd of people and has cheap drinks. What more can you ask for?

Favourite bar in town. Great drinks, awesome music, always live bands playing and its got a great atmosphere. Located right in the city centre its easy to access if you are sober driving or catching a taxi, and there is street parking right outside the bar that is free after 10pm. If youre in to any form of rock/metal/alternative music, this is where youll find your people!

Been going there for years for a drink and dance at the end of the night. Bar staff are lovely, its not overpriced, and if you like emo metal or goth rock then boy howdy are you in for a treat! (thats not all they play but is a good slice)

The Ding Dong Lounge is a lovely bar in the heart of Auckland City.I went there to watch the Nirvana Tribute and had an amazing time, nicely decorated bar and full of energy, one thing would be that the lounge especially the upstairs area we went to was immensely popular and crowded but thats also due to the reason of coming.

One of the best bars and venues in Auckland. Live music, DJs, a good range of drinks and friendly staff behind the bar. Cant ask for much more.

The only place that plays purely rock and metal. Love the service. Great range of alcohol. The perfect place to hang with your mates, have a drink and then bugger off upstairs to see a live band most weekends.

Im surprise to find a Gothic hangout bar, it was good night out but wasnt great experience, the gig that we went said tickets available at door but we found out all sold out even were hrs b4 the gig started bit disappointed but still a great bar

This is essentially the only bar Ive visited in the 3 hears that its been open.This bar is gritty, dark and filled with truly fantastic bar staff, patrons, doormen, and bands.With classic drinks as well as a few oddities, this bar became a second home for good reason.
