Din Tai Fung Xinyi Restaurant in Taipei

Highly satisfied dinning experience, especially for the restaurant environment.The food quality across all Din Tai Fung is the same with high standard from my experience so the food taste as good as usual. Big fan of shrimp dumplings, spicy wonton, fried rice and red bean cake. My all time favorites!Xinyi shop is a new one and the dining environment is amazing, bright, spacious and clean place. Even the restrooms are very clean and dry. Also, they take order while you waiting outside so make the waiting time feeling shorter by saving your waiting time for ordering when you have seats! I would definitely choose Xinyi if I want Din Tai Fung if possible haha

One of the best places I’ve been to in Taiwan! Staff were unbelievably efficient and friendly! The food is well priced and of high quality. Favourite would have to be the dumplings!

Very much worth the long wait every time. This place was one of the many highlights of my time in Taipei. The service was efficient and fast, while the food was delicious and always outstanding. Highly recommend ordering the cucumbers and green beans with minced pork along with the 小龍包 and 擔擔麵.

Since the severe pandemic started two months ago in Taipei, we have ordered DTF the take-out delivery via Ubereats quite a few times. Theyre always warm, well packed, as delivered within a reasonable time frame. Not as hot or perfect as eating at the restaurant. But under such circumstances, I cant ask for more. LOL! Theyre delicious!!!

Ding tai Fung - Taiwan’s most renowned restaurant for a good reason.Must try:Pork chop fried riceXiao long baoDrunken chickenSpent around $500 per pax. Ambience wise is a little challenged, but they made it up with their excellent service.Overall, a must try.

Went there alone just to try their truffle pork xlb and chocolate xlb. Service was top notch, all the servers were very attentive, place is clean, food is worth the wait and the money.However, it does get very busy and loud inside.

It was the best dumpling ever. The skin of the dumpling was pretty thin and lots of juice in it. It was amazing how good it is.The shrimp fried dumpling was tasty as well. You can taste whole shrimp in it.It was worth coming to try. Especially it’s the original store.

(With English/ Japanese/ Korean menu and servicethe food and the service are very very good. It makes sense that it’s worldwide famous. The shop is the original one, and you can’t make a reservation here. They open a completely new one just cross the street. The food are exactly the same. If this location is too busy, you can try the new one. It’s worthy to wait and try at least once. It won’t let you down!

Wonderful food and great customer serviceHaving a meal in Din Tai Fung (Taiwanis an experience in itself. The food was amazing, and we could really taste the quality in the ingredients. Great customer service too, we didnt have to wait long for the waitresses to bring the food to our table and they were extremely prompt with their service.

went in alone for a quick lunch (there was miraculously no one waiting outside). ordered shrimp egg fried rice (brown rice, half sizeand black fungus. the fungus was seasoned with lemon, making it taste very refreshing, and balanced. perfect for an appetizer. the fried rice was gently cooked and flavored. it was also rich in moisture (compared to "regular" fried rice), which I think could be improved (it is a subjective matter though). In general, the fried rice was also good but not as impressive as the black fungus.Their spicy oil (provided upon requestis worth a try too. Its not spicy at all though, but has a rich flavor.Service was of a high standard. Servers were very attentive and careful.

Nostalgic experience for a long time Din Tai Fung fan, as much as a homage as to filling our stomachs. Top tip: they take CASH ONLY. Do expect a long wait , get a ticket and wonder around, they would accommodate you even your ticket number has passed, or better still you can get their app. Impressive service as always, Taiwanese DTF serves a different menu as well as seasonal specials.

Amazing restaurant, expect huge queues. If you are alone you can get in quickly if you dont mind sharing a table. I had to go back multiple times because it was that good. The waiters explain how to eat the food properly and they are very attentive even though they are always packed.

Good service, food was above average but honestly not worth the wait of more than 20mins imo. Special love it’s 流沙包, and of course their original pork dumplings.

Best of the best! We were very lucky to be only waiting 15mins to get seated in the very early Saturday morning. So try to be early on weekends! Steamed juicy buns are the heaven. Be careful with the way you eat, don’t get your tongue burnt. My personal favorite is the veggie pork dumplings. They are fresh made with delicious soup.

Must try restaurant in Taiwan, we have to wait for 1.5 hours but it is worth it. Go around then comeback, everything is set up and food come very fast. Dumpling is excellent, the chicken soup and wontons also very delicious. The starter is okay, you might skip it.

Definitely better than the franchise outlets overseas. Cash only. Not everything is good, but the recommended stuff is outstanding. The xiao long bao is so, so, so good. Eat it the right way and really savor this amazing delight. We went 2 days in a row. The queues are extremely long depending on what time u come. Servers speak English and Japanese. Come before 10:30 am or after 8 pm and the queues will be much more manageable.

They deserve their Michelin star! Food was amazing! Go early to avoid the long queue. We got there a little past 10AM so we only had to wait around 10mins before being seated. Staff were very nice and accommodating! Their xiolongbao was truly something! We initially just ordered 5 but ordered another batch!

Even the queue is incredibly long (45 minsbut the food is incredibly good.Their paos (its bunare so light and not sticky.Restaurant and toilet are so clean as well.

I have had great meals at other Din Tai Fung locations, so I knew when I visited Taiwan that I wanted to visit the mothership.We visited about 1pm on a Wednesday. The website and hostess were correct that the wait would be about 30 minutes.  Being able to review the menu and place your order while waiting your number significantly speeds up the process for getting your food once you are seated.There were 3 in our group, and we ordered:Pork XiaoLong Bao, Crab Roe and Pork XiaoLong Bao, Steamed Shrimp and Pork Dumplings, Shrimp and Pork Shao Mai, Pork Buns, Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup, Stir Fried Water Spinach,  Stir Fried Sweet Potato Vines, Shrimp Fried Rice, House Special Spicy Vegetable and Ground Pork Dumplings.The quality of the food was great. The only problem is that delivery was not spread out and we started having too much food getting cold on the table at once.  We tried to get them to slow down the service but were really not successful (since various different servers were delivering the food).  We would have enjoyed the meal much more if the food was still warm by the time that we were able to eat it.If we were to eat here again, we would intentionally only order part of our meal initially, knowing that we would order more once we made some progress (like this review if you have experienced the same thing).Our bill was about 2,050 NTD (for 3 peopleincluding the 10% service charge. We got plenty to eat.

Our most look forward to restaurant whenever returning to Taiwan!!!!! Great food, service and ambience.You must prepare the waiting time for at least 45 min or 90 min which is normal. However, it’s already much better than the store in Taipei 101.Highly recommended. We just love it!

I suspect they placed the best chefs in this original store. We tried the siao long pao at Taipei 101 branch barely two days back and though the dumplings there were delicious, the dumplings here are exquisite! Paper thin translucent skin yet strong enough to be gripped by chopsticks, and more soup in the dumplings. It is really that much more delicious!!We came here with no expectations. Was near enough Chiang Kai Shek Memorial so we strolled here to take a few pics of the original store. Ended up having lunch here because the queue was merely 10 mins at 12pm on a Monday. No brainer. At Taipei 101 we queued for 90 mins at lunch hour.No regrets trying the food here. If you have one chance to try DDF, choose this one.

This place is packed with tourists, though I am one of them.The stir fried bird’s nest fern is amazing!!! It’s a seasonal vegetable I think, but you gotta try it!Others taste great too! Service is great.

Best dumplings. Be prepared to wait. Usually between 30 and up to 90 minutes for a table. Plan ahead and come early and spend the waiting time shopping, having a massage or a beer. Worth it. Don’t miss this place if you visit Taipei. This is the first and original location. Open end in 1972 and now in over 11 countries.

Very good!! I want to go again, even Ive been there two days ago.Deep, spicy taste of beef noodle soup which is the best, the combination of Taiwan beer and soup dumpling is also great.Best and best. Ill remember this place for a long time.

It really is amazing. It does deserve the 2 Michelin stars they hold. Theres always a line up trying to get in to this place, but they have streamlined the whole experience. You go and grab a number to see where how long it would take to get a table, while waiting you and your party look through the and decide what you would like to order. Then submit the order with the hostess. When time comes to get your table the hostess double checks your order with you and makes any necessary changes at this point if need be. In my case adding a third pork bun to an order where only 2 comes in an order. Then at this point we are told to go upstairs to our table, we greeted and shown our table. We sat down and in the span of maybe 5 minutes 5 different servers came to our table to check our order to make sure that we ordered what we ordered. It was amazing... Talk about efficiency.... Ive worked restaurants for a long time and have never seen this level of service to make sure the kitchen runs well and to not remake orders from mistakes. Another minute later the food arrived, the waitress placed our dumplings down and started to properly pour (ratioour soy sauce and vinegar into a side dish for dipping. We had the pork dumplings, chicken dumplings, water spinach, 3 different noodles and soup and char siu bow. All were beyond amazing. If youre ever in Taipei its a must go.

When you go to Taipei, everyone says you must go to Din Tai Fung. Is it different to Australia you may ask. Yes it most certainly is. The menu is much bigger and there’s so many types of Xiao Long Bao. We had the original pork as well as Pork and truffle. Whilst the truffle was expensive, they were one of the best things we ate on the trip. Make sure you read the card as to how to consume these in the authentic way. Service is extremely efficient and food comes out fast. It is definitely worth a visit. It is on Xinyi Road, just get off the MRT at Dongmen Station (take exit 5). Though there are plenty of other locations too, even one at Taipei 101.

Excellent menu, youre paying for quality. Staff are friendly and speak English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Very authentic. Waited a short time due to paying attention outside! Quick service. Quality taste using traditional ingredients.

We braved the queues for 150 minutes to get a table on a Sunday in December! And although Singapore has so many Din Tai Fung branches the meal at one in Xinyi was special. Has quite a few veggie options too and it was worth the wait! I love their veggie fried rice, spinach, dumplings of course and the chocolate dumplings are a special sweet treat!

That’s a real place to visit. I adore the service. The staff is perfect like Swiss watches. And the food is perfect. You just feel that was cooked with the fresh and perfectly chosen ingredients. But the service is really something I will never forget. Real top notch! By the way we were no waiting even a minute to be seated - we came at 17:00, on Wednesday.

If youre from the states- smaller portion, MUCH cheaper price! I remember my wife and I spending 45ish dollars at din tai fung. Today we had four menus and spent 671 NTD(about 22 USD). No reservation. When I showed up at 1130, the wait was projected to be 35 minutes. We ended up waiting 41 minutes so I would say that wad pretty accurate. By the time we got called in, the projected wait time got up to 55 minutes. Show up early!!

Great restaurant. You can eat very delicious Taipei food. The service is perfect. The inside of this restaurant is very clean, and the restroom too. The price is reasonable. The restaurant is very popular and crowded. If you dont wanna wait, I recommend you to go here in the morning for breakfast.

Where it all started. Unlike the mainstream Din Tai Fung all over the world. The service is great however there is a long wait. If you come during peak hours, close to 100 min wait. The xian bao is truly to die for. My favorite restaurant. Only taking a star away for the wait time.

Always people hanging around to get into the restaurant. I went on last day of February not releasing it was a 4 days long weekend for Taiwan. The waiting time was 80 minutes. As a tourist and plenty of time to spare, I waited patiently. After 20mins or so, I was asked if I minded sharing a table. I didnt and was ushed in right away. While waiting we could tick our orders on the order chit. There was also a pictorial menu which was really helpful. The food was good and so the service. The rice cake which was new on the menu was really good. The cold dessert was delicious after a hearty meal.The lady manning the toilet was also very nice.

Excellent from top to bottom. Do expect to wait for 1+ hour for a table but the queue was organized and orderly. But it is well worth the wait..The food was consistently good and served at a reasonable pace. The xiao long bao/ soup dumplings were obviously amazing. Service was excellent and the servers kept everything in check from topping off our tea to making sure our orders are fulfilled. We did not feel rushed at all. Washrooms and the building were sparkling clean. Comparing to western currency (CAD/USD), this is a bargain for what you are getting.

Always visit here when I trip in Taipei.Open from 10am (Sunday will be opened at 9amand very close from the Dongmen stn.Signature dumpling and cucumber side dishes, fried rice with ribs are always good combinations.

The service is excellent. The staff can speak multiple languages mainly Korean, Japanese and English. They refused to accept the tips we put on the table. Theres always a queue but its gone pretty quickly as they have multiple floors in this restaurant. Highly recommended!

Superb.. absolutely delicious 😋. I’ve tried Din Tai Fung in Malaysia 🇲🇾 but nothing compare to this. The local Taiwanese Uber driver told me I should definitely give it a try- the main branch of Din Tau Fung; maintaining high standard of food. But be prepared to wait 😱, the queue is looooongggg.... it took me more than 1h 30mins... I came at around 1130am. Nonetheless, worth the wait- you can place your order first then go for a walk nearby the restaurant. The service is amazing 😉, the waitresses speaks multiple languages. I ordered some of the recommended foods; see my pictures... Absolutely love em’ all 😄. Pricy?- kinda... NTD$760 for two

The first-opened restaurant famous for Taiwanese pork dumplings,full of too great service,good taste. I realize the reason why a lot of Japanese tourists come all the way. Too crowded,so you have to wait a long long time to get seats,but worth visiting once.

The very first and original Din Tai Fung store in Taiwan! Really good and really blown away our expectation. We had Din Tai Fung in Sydney, Singapore, and Jakarta, but nothing really come close to this one in the original store. They also have a really effective queuing system that works really well. You need to tell them how many people and they will tell you when to come back again, once you are back, you just need to wait a few more minutes and if you have your order sheet ready, that is even faster! Absolutely need to try if you are visiting Taipei

Wait wasn’t bad at all - we arrived at 1:30p on a Tuesday in August and were seated at 2p. Waitresses spoke Chinese, Japanese, and English and took our order before we were seated. Food arrived quickly and was presented nicely.We ordered 5 dishes for 2 people: pork xiaolongbao, shrimp and pork shaomai, zhajiangmian, kongxingcai, and kaofu.Overall, attentive service and yummy food at a good price. Food tasted much better than the branches in LA and NorCal, where we’re from. Similar to the ones in Shanghai.

Excellent customer service. Staff speak many languages. Good quality food. English menu available. If you go during non peak hours, there is no wait. I highly recommend the taro xiaolongbao for dessert.

On July 3, 2018, my family of four took the MRT, got off at Exit 6 of the Dongmen station and saw the restaurant at the one o’clock position. People were waiting outside this Michelin restaurant and we got our unreserved table in about 10 minutes while we made our orders. If you prefer something light and healthy, your taste buds would not be unsatisfied!

When you are in Taipei, you cannot miss going to the original Ding Tai Fung, the mother of ding tai Fung dumplings! It’s an old building but it’s very clean and with excellence service. People don’t understand why we are going there instead of those newly decorated and modern ding tai Fung. Well, it’s always good to experience the original. We have Ding Tai Fung at a lot other places in the world but dumplings in Taipei tasted really fresh. Ingredients always matter a lot. Ask for the steamed shrimp and pork shaomai and of course the traditional pork dumplings! Yummy! Love Taiwan beer 🍻.

This restaurant was one of the best among restaurants I had been in Taipei so far!I went to there with 4 other follows, therefore I could share many types!As you can see, I had 4 different dumplings and 2 fried rice.Every single menu was so great!Enjoy your meals :)

The queue system at this place is pretty good. Just go to the staff at the front of the door amd tell her how many people and youll be given a number.We orderes a few things (xiao long bao, pork buns, sweet and sour soup, prawn dumplings and marinated pork meat). Overall the food is good and enjoyable but unfortunately I cant say that its outstanding. The soup was bordering tastless. Not sure if the chef forgot to put seasonings or thats how it normally taste like.Service was excellent, stairs were narrow and price was on the expensive side.

Awesome place ! You have to wait a little bit before entering but I went around 11:40 and got in at 12. The hostess spoke French fluently to explain how to fill the card. Then the lunch was amazing. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. A must go in Asia.

food is very yummy. it’s usually busy but if you don’t mind sharing table with the others, you can skip the line. staff is friendly and nice dinning environment. must-go for tourists.

The food here is great—not just the Xiaolongbao. The 酸辣湯 (hot and sour soupwas really good as well. Their beef noodle soup is also pretty good. We liked their fried pork chop as well as their vegetables. Everything we had was top notch. Only complaint is that it’s more expensive than it ought to be. But, you get what you pay for. In this case: quality.

A great spot you have to stop by whenever you are in Taiwan. Advice would be to go there when they first open (or at least within the first 30 minsor else waiting line can be as long as 50+ mins. Every dish was delicious, especially the taro bun - each one freshly made. I would recommend going there at least twice just because there are so many good food here.

Looks small on the outside but inside it has a multiple floor, usually you have long queues. Friendly staff, nice service. The beef in beef noodles is very tender, xao long bao a must try, hot and sour soup, overall its a thumbs up very satisfied.
