Dimitri Valletta - Restaurant in Qormi, Malta
Good fresh fish but the pasta dish was very plain and had a hair in
Hidden gem. Fabulous food in darling location.
Lovely restaurant on one of Valletta quiet side streets. Food was outstanding and service was excellent was well. The few negative reviews that I read must have been about a different restaurant. A pleasure to eat at Dimitri.
Everything was excellent! Food ambiance & service all top notch
“People who love to eat are always the best people." "To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art." "We all eat, an it would be a sad waste of opportunity to eat badly." "If you really want to make a friend, go to someones house and eat with him...the people who give you their food give you their heart."
Amazing food, lovely service. Visited second time and definitely would come back :)
Lovely small restaurant, with delicious dishes. The chef was very friendly and the pasta starters are very generous portions!
Absolutely unacceptable. First of all before you go inside you cant see menu prices. When we sat (4 of usthe girl served us beers we ordered and showed us the menu. We were surprised that a carbonara cost 24,5 € and risotto 23,5. Anyway, we thought that we would try something very special, like Michelin stars, although while I travelled all over Italy I never found such a price for a carbonara, not even in Piazza San Marco. But when our plates came we had a bigger surprise. The risotto came with pork belly(!!full of fat, and the 3 carbonaras were very very salty, and not creamy at all. It was hard to eat, although we were hungry. Chef tried to apologize saying that carbonara was so salty because of guanciale. But everywhere in Italy real carbonara is with guanciale and it is superb. Obviously he didnt know how to cook it, but he wanted us to pay 24,5 € for this terrible plate. So, please stay away from this restaurant. It has bad food quality, it is very expensive and probably you will feel that someone stole your money.I just read the answer of "Dimitri" and its full of lies. Let me explain to the other readers :First of all I personally thanked the waittress for offering me an ashtray and just told her that I didnt need it.Then I wrote that the price list is not outside the restaurant - which I think you are obliged to do in European Union - and we saw it after the waitress had served us beers, and we thought that it was not polite to go away, even if it was so overpriced. This is the answer to what you called "rudeness".The carbonara you served was without sea foodAnd of course we didnt eat all of our dishes and I didnt eat the remaining risotto, because we are used in much better dishes than yours, either in Greece or everywhere in Europe. At last, of course if I will come in Malta again I will prefer Mc Donalds than your "restaurant" , because I am sure that I will eat better dishes even there.
It was delicious. But waitress was late. I am definitely going to visit that place next time.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the chef took the time to talk with our table, even going as far as to explain the menu. The food itself was exceptional and very fulfilling. Portion size was very good and the presentation was perfect.
We were asked to pay 5€ extra for each plate if we opted for the smaller option of the dish, even if in the menu it said only staters would have an extra 5€ charge if only these were ordered. Good quality food.
Excellent food and service! If you are fed up of the tourists traps, this is definitely an excellent location to have excellent fresh and delicious food in a lovely environment with very friendly service!
I had a delicious pasta with aubergines and tomato sauce, it was fresh and tasty, and the owner is really nice! We had a great talk, I was very happy to have dinner there, totally recommended! :)
Two stars for friendly service, otherwise 22 Euros for a pasta Carbonara is absurd. I noticed that it was much cheaper before and prices went up quite significantly but not for every dish, which makes no sense. My dish was grilled Calamari which seemed a bit under cooked inside. The other dish was a red snapper fish, which was very small and did not have the colour of a red snapper.
Feels a lot like tourists trap place. Food taste was OK, but completely not worth the prise. Ordered red snapper fish for 27 eur, which the waiter asked if Id like the whole fish or fillet without bones. I asked for the 2nd option and they only brought 1 side of the fish and even that one didnt look like red snapper. Taste was OK, nothing special, though. When I said to the Waiter that I expected there to be more fish he said that heard this feedback form many customers, but probably fish they have is just smaller and the way they cook it gets tender. I made a joke, that may theyve got a baby fish and he said "something like this" hahah! Clearly he asked me on purpose if Id like the fillet without bones as then ot allows them to 1bring a different fish 2serve the other half to another client for the sme prise.
This was my first time at Dimitri and it surely wont be my last. The homemade tagliatelle with tartufo was amazing, and so was the pistachio ice cream. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the jazz music playing in the background, made it just right. A perfect spot in the heart of Valletta.
Rather expensive (no main dish below 22€). My fish was not very well seasoned and the salad was old. I expected more.
Great restaurant in Valetta, serving both local specialties and mediterranean foods. We found the portions to be quite large and prices to be reasonable. Very nice and helpful hosts made a great evening for us. Limited seating available, its better to call beforehand.
Fantastic food, great location away from the hustle and bustle. Location is superb and the owner has lots of charisma. Well priced.
The Dimitri turned out to be easily the best place to eat in Valetta. Located in a little side street, a little bit off the usual hurly-burly, one can enjoy fresh food in a very nice, romantic atmosphere. And the food can convince: they have a pleasantly focussed menu and you get fresh, nicely arranged and very tasty meals. Its easy to eat well in Valetta, someone said, and thats true - but the food at Dmitri is just that little bit better. We came back again and again and never left disappointed. Finally, a special thanks to Patrick, who served us on most of the days, and made every evening a pleasant experience. We can only recommend to pay a visit to the Dimitri if you are in Valetta.
Relaxing atmosphere, lovely, warm, welcoming staff. We ordered salmon Ravioli and pasta with Peas, mushrooms, pecorino. It was very tasty, fresh pasta. Also had best tiramisu i ever had. Worth a visit.
I was surprised to see it was not so easy to find a nice fish restaurant in Valletta, with fresh product. We went to Dimitri and were not disappointed: excellent and fresh fishes, everything is home made including the deserts. The small restaurant room really has a lot of charm and the food was amazing. A bit pricey but the right price for the quality of the food
This is one of the best restaurant and experience I have ever had. Amazing fresh pasta, perfectly prepared fish and some of most delicious desserts I have ever had. And the owner Dimitri is really super friendly!
Must go!Dimitri’s restaurant made our Malta experience even better. Place is cosy, food amazing and the whole atmosphere is just incredible. I definitely recommend to go here and enjoy either lunch or dinner.
We met Dimitri himself, so nice and friendly! The chef was also very nice. And the food was delicious! I ordered vegetarian and there wasnt any problem at all. I absolutely recommend it!
A memorable experience of wonderfully made food and friendly service. I felt like it was my Mum downstairs cooking up her freshest and best - the carbonara was perfect. In a city where it’s tough to have a bad meal, Dimitri was a pleasant standout. Will go back.
Maltese food at its best. Fish could have been serve with some lemon and capers which would have finish the dish off.
Having looked at the great reviews my wife and I decided to come for a dinner. Downstairs was busy and we got a table upstairs which we realised later was literally by the toilet. The seabass was very plain, not seasoned, it came with sides which were plain grilled potatoes and pumpkin and it looked like on the picture below. We asked for a sauce and the chef came out to meet us to check whats wrong but it felt pretty uncomfortable to be there, the waitresses didnt make us feel welcome either.
YOU. MUST. EAT. HERE.By far the best restaurant I have ever eaten at! Small little restaurant, “hole in the wall” type restaurant. I loved everything about Dimitri’s. it was very casual, the waiter (maybe manager maybe owner I’m not surewas incredibly kind. He took such great care of us. Made great recommendations, while accommodated my dairy allergy. We ordered the lobster pasta, prawns and steak. Everything was 10/10. Honestly 11/10 if you could. I would fly back to Malta just to eat here !!! Thank you Dimitri’s !!
The restaurant owner Dimitri takes a lot of pride in the food that is served and always ensures his customers have a good experience. We could not fault the service, the portions were very generous and the food was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend!
A lovely place of excellence in every aspect especially the food which is to die for! Tasty, well cooked and of adequate portions. The host is continuously concerned regarding the satisfaction of every dining guest in the restaurant and also guides well how to choose best according to one s appetite. A big success in malta s capital.
It is a beautiful Bistro and great ambiance with well trained staff. The staff are the plus point of the hotel make u feel comfortable and honoured to be their guest. The prices are on the higher side however you will not be disappointed while u visit the hotel and food is also good. 5 stars to the management and also Dimitri for making a beautiful hotel. Recommended to all.
We were staying in an AirB&B right above Dimitri Cafe. It smelled so good we had to try it. The service was top notch. Vishnu took good care of us.We had chicken / chorizo appetizer which was the best thing we tasted on our 18 days in Europe. The main course and desserts were really good too. The menu changes daily so he is always serving whatever is fresh. He also has a good wine selection. All in all we had a delightful evening here.
A tourist trap, for sure, I wandering how can they get such high rate... the food is OK, but they charged us 10 euro cover fee... what is that? We didn’t argue but just paid... And this restaurant only take cash!!! Be careful If you don’t have cash before coming here.
Fabulous food and fantastic Dimitri! We had the Maltese fish soup, octopus stew, rabbit and the lobster pasta accompanied by a bottle of very good local Chardonnay. Everything was delicious and Dimitri made us feel like we were his close friends rather than guests. This is definetly the place to eat while in Valletta! And the homemade bread was to die for!
I love this quiet small restaurant. Very friendly staff and owner. Excellent food made from freshly cooked products. They also change their menu regularly so everytime you go there is always something knew to try. Highly recommend.
Very small, definitely recommend booking beforehand. However with a smaller place comes a greater attention to detail. A must visit in Valletta
Wonderful atmosphere. Just off the main road of restuarant full of tourists which provides a nice quiet ambiance. Staff were very friendly and the chef came out a few times also to check in on my experience. Food was also excellent.
The food was really delicious and interesting. Chef and staff were really nice and the service was again something different and special. I recommend it :)
best food I had ... The Chef Amazing, Food was so on point and full of flavour. prices very reasonable.
Excellent tuna steak! The chef/owner came out and exchanged a few words with us. Its a really nice and cozy restaurant, quite small but the food was really good and the personal touch made it well worth it!
Any shortcomings which this place might have (which are almost none at allare overcome by the super friendly service and absolutely delicious fresh food. Highly recommended.
Perfect place. Lovely personal service from the chef and host. We had grilled goat cheese and home made sausage for starters. Both perfect. For mains we shared a fresh sea bream, which we got to look in the eye personally before it hit the grill whole. Traditional maltese cusine with both fish and meat dishes on offer.
Dimitri Cafe-Bistro is the place to be, for an intimate dinner and high quality standard. You can have meet and fish platters. The price is moderate. Make reservations, because the number of tables is limited. One of the best places we had in Malta.
Very tasty food! 😍The best cooked rabbit from Valletta lives up to its name. I also enjoyed the mussels very much ! Incredibly tasty. I would really like to know the recipe 😉 The restaurant staff and the chef paid very much attention to the customers and properly introduced us all the dishes from the menu. Great evening!
Paul is such a great host. Good food freshly cooked at reasonable prices. A very simple and small business. No frills !
We came here on a personal recommendation from a couple staying in our hotel. They said that the chef was fantastic and that the restaurant was simple but with great food. The chef makes it! He came up to greet us when we came in, recommended a fish for us and explained how he was going to cook it. He showed us their newly printed napkins and he stressed that he was not Dimitri but “just did the cooking”. We had a fantastic large meager fish and they brought us a small starter as it took quite a while to cook. The restaurant was full when we first tried here, so we booked and we have booked again for tomorrow!
What a great restaurant. We had a variety of different seafoods, muscles to start, prawns and swordfish for main. Perfectly cooked and delicious. We also treated ourselves to homemade puddings which were delightful. Overall wonderful experience, would 100% recommended
The place is cozy and inviting - there are only a few tables on the main floor, and a couple upstairs. Dimitri will greet you personally and shake your hand. The menu changes with whats fresh and in-season. To start, we had the mussels au gratin. My partner ordered the rabbit, and I had the pasta with mushrooms. Everything was delicious and prepared very well.
Wonderful food and ambiance in a lovely quiet street. I had the best rabbit Ive ever had and enjoyed talking with the warm and funny owner, Dmitri himself. The inside is larger than it seems and has a nice upper floor. Very highly recommended.
