Balderas S/N, Colonia Centro, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, 06000 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico, Los Reyes La Paz
Art museum known for its Diego Rivera mural rescued from a hotel destroyed in a 1985 earthquake.
Its 2 USD and really only one thing. But that one thing is pretty awesome.
Its just the one mural, few smaller paintings, and a few photos. Not expensive to get in. Bring a mask.
Museum of one exhibit. 😀But still totally worth visiting.
Quintessential Rivera. Only a single large mural. They have added some expositions of copies of murals from different periods. They are not originals but interesting nonetheless.
This museum is one original Diego Rivera mural + reproductions of other artists work. It lists which museum you can find the original. The mural is massive. It has a diagram that shows who many of the people are. (Both English and Spanish)40 pesosFriendly staff and very clean bathroom
There is just one mural. But this is clearly an important part of the history. Even free on sunday.
Incredible. The museum is just one room and one massive, brilliant mural by Diego Rivera that captures so much of Mexican history (past, present, and future). The museum describes each historical figure (there are 75+with a short blurb. The surrounding facts around the mural (its commission, initial location, transport, resilience, etcare very interesting as well. After viewing the mural, walking through Alameda park has newfound significance.
Only one Diego Rivera mural was available to see at the museo but it was well worth seeing.
I’m not going to lie, when I entered and they told me it was only one mural I was a bit disappointed. However…. The mural itself is so spectacular that it definitely was worth the cheap entry fee. The exhibit also shows pictures from the huge earthquake in the 80s that slightly damaged the mural, as well as pictures of Rivera painting it. There’s also a good description of all the different representations of the mural. I easily spent 45 min there just analyzing the mural in detail. Yes, the museum is small, but I do believe the mural is so iconic and grandiose that it is worth seeing.
I have been visiting CDMX for about 20 years, and last month was the first time that I visit this gem. One mural, but so rich on history, culture, and info about the characters in he mural and the area where the museum is located. If you are into Diegos and CDMX art visit this museum, a very important stop to learn about Mexican art history.
Mural saved from the ruins of the hotel it was installed in the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City. Well guarded in the museum together with sculptures. Entrance fee 40 pescos. Close to Palais of art and a beautiful park
Very iconic mural of Diego Rivera.Pretty much this is the only thing you can see but if you are in CDMX, you must see it.
Definitely worth visiting. I was expecting more paintings though. The sculptures are reallt nice too.
Spectacular small museum. It wasnt crowded when I went. A must see. There was a sculpture show there as well.
The mural from the hotel is fantastic, and the room where it is mounted is good. You can see it from the ground floor and the first floor. Quite small museum, but very nice. Written explanations in both Spanish and English. After visiting you can take a walk in the Alameda park
Great little museum. Perfect for spending 30 minutes. Only $40 Mex
only thing you expect is mural from diego rivera. and it was amazing! mexicans dont pay to get in but foreigners have emtrance fee.
An unexpectedly interesting place to see the legendary mural and to know the story of its relocation. Key information in the main exhibition hall is duplicated in English
Beautiful Mural, what I like about this Museum it explains on how it got to one place to another. After the Earth quake..This Museum is a must see 😃❤️
There is only one mural here in the museum. There are three other rooms with other exhibits. The place could be covered in 15 minutes. Mural collection at Bella Artes is the one to visit. My recommendation is that you should visit only if you have time.
Tiny museum. The mural is great! But there isnt anything else besides a few sculptures.
We arrived on a Saturday around 3pm and there was a big group in front doing card exchanging and selling goods like in a flea market so we were a little unsure about the entrance. But once we got through the crowd and inside the museum, it was very calm. We were able to check our bags and the front. 40 pesos entrance and 5 peso extra to take pictures. It is just the Mural, but there is an interesting photo display of the making of, earthquake and transport of the Mural. I think if you are nearby, take a stop!
Great experience!! However is just that one mural painting that makes it special, nothing else.
I did not realize there was only ONE mural in the museum… i was a little disappointed, but the one of display is amazing. So it was still worth the trip.
Mural was great. The busts were a bust for me. Most of the information was in Spanish but Google translate can help!
I’m sorry, this is just not a destination… it’s one big beautiful mural and some busts… get the pun!?
This museum houses one spectacular mural by Diego Rivera and several smaller temporary exhibits. Dont go here expecting to see an extensive catalog of Diegos work though.
Great Diego Rivera mural and history of how they saved it after the 1985 earthquake. Great panel describing the people and history encapsulated.
Just wow. We got free entrance, and spent an hour just looking at and marvelling the masterpiece by Rivera (theres only one mural here, but dont let the quantity fool you - theres so much happening in this one piece of art.)A must visit.
Went here to see one of Diego Riveras mural paintings and it only cost $2. They are currently adding more to this exhibit in the near future but none of it was on display. Overall you cant beat a $2 ticket for art. Weird enough it was across Mexico Citys Scientology Headquarters.
Calling this a museum is a joke. There is litterally ONE big painting you can see (March 2022). Thats it!Big disappointment..
Easy to see museum! Price was about 70 MXN pesos
Fascinating one-hour experience—and you can easily take more time if you want to fully absorb this masterwork. There is more to look at than just the mural, all of which is related and of interest if you like the subject matter
Besides a few photos, this museum only contains the Rivera mural rescued from a hotel demolished by an earthquake. Beautiful work of art.
Been longing to see it. My advice is to study the mural first and try figuring out who is who, and then read the legend, is much more fun this way.You may need to wait in the queue in peak hours due to covid restrictions.
We didn’t plan to go to this place, but I’m so happy we went! The mural is insanely beautiful, it so interesting to read about characters on the mural, it’s just incredible piece of art. Sincerely advice to visit this place!
Theres only one mural from the artist to see, but it is worth a look, because it is full of history from Mexico and from Diegos memories. Just the history around how this piece of art has been moved from place to place is interesting.
Its ok. Basically has only one interesting drawing, Diego Rivera, Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Central Park. No explanation in English, recommend reading online “Khan academy”s explanation of this artwork. Costs 35 or 70 pesos entry, not sure
Great museum to see the Diego mural. Well worth the 40 pesos. Nice history of the mutual, surviving the earthquakes and transportation to new museum location. take you time to read about all the historical, common and symbolic images. Also have extra exhibits plus clean Banos
Excellent murals, free on the day I went, and clean/free bathrooms
If you like Diego Rivera this museum is a must see! I am glad they saved this mural from the 85 earthquake that destroyed many parts of the city and where thousands died (sad day). Like must masterpieces of Diego, this is history!
Not really worth traveling a distance for. Its only one major piece, and it is very interesting. Entry is very cheap, but they charge extra for taking pictures. The restrooms were disgusting. And the whole building was in a bad state. If youre passing by it might be worth to enter, but dont come specially.
Diego is one of my favorite artists and his murals are remarkable. Come visit and learn more about Diego and his work.
This museum is very small. But a wonderful piece of history. The mural has all the important figures of Mexican history in one image. You can see in English and in Spanish an explanation of who each individual in the photo represents and a little bit of their personal history. This is the only item in this museum. Entrance is very inexpensive under $3. Easy to get to and a quick 30-minute explore
A small museum. The main attraction is the mural. Please please please ask for the guided visit! The story is amazing, its about an hour long but you wont regret it! It tells the story of Mexico through 500 years of historical facts and characters. Theres so much detail to the story, its also $20mxn pesos for the tour, you can also leave a tip to your guide. It has temporarily installations, two per year. Its small but its full of story! Theres also a small workshop, which is free, where you can paint on a canvas and either take your painting/drawing or leave it to be displayed there.
It is worth to see this one and only work in that museum. 40 pesos with the right to take pictures. This mural of Diego is a good Witness of the Mexican history.
There is only one mural there my Diego Rivera. Lots of information on the walls but beware it is all in spanish. There are english diagrams of the people present in the mural. Also, there are some small works by other artists upstairs. But for 35 pesos, it’s worth it for art lovers
Entrance was free. The museum was huge and tourist friendly. English explanations are provided on explanation boards. Great place to learn about Mexico’s history.
Its an absolutely adorable place. Very important to see if you are interested in Mexican history - Rivera has shown so much on his mural! The only thing is that all the other exhibitions have been closed at the time we have visited it.
Beautiful Museum. It was small but free and worth the trip.
