Devil's Slide - Hiking area in Albany, Australia
Slippery
Lush and green, a grade 5 climb in the wet, you will end up on your bum. But man the greenery. Moss and Lichen and so many wonderful plants. It’s an Eden made by the devil.
Very tough climb. Harder than Castle Rock even though rated an easier climb.
Amazing views from the top! Definitely an underated climb in the area.Quite a steep climb and can be slippery when wet (flat rocks, mud on route). If you park where the map is, head back down the road 20m and take a left onto Wansbrough Walk, go up the hill. Take the left when there is a fork with 3 options. The left option is the start of devils slide.
This one takes a bit of effort, quite steep in places and depending on time of year can be muddy under foot in spots on the climb up, can be quite taxing on the legs and joints (for those who arent spring chickens anymore 😆But, once again, when you hit the summit, amazing views! And as you would expect, WINDY!
Its a hard trail up and down, especially when your knees are not the best. But the views at the top and along the way and the changing vegetation make it one of the most memorable hikes Ive done.
Wonderfull hikink threw the forest, then up to the rock, with stunning view at 360°
One of my favourite trails in WA which ends with an awesome 360 degree view of the region and the other peaks of the Porongurup and Stirling Ranges. We started from Tree-in-a-Rock which was easy to get to using Bolganup Rd. The trail started easy but soon got steep. The return trip from Tree-in-a-Rock was just under 5km with approximately 340m of climbing.
It’s all uphill but worth the battle! Beautiful views and a lovely green, healthy trail. Will make your calves burn, in a good way. Fell on my way down but had extra padding (big buttto break my fall. My advice is to go slow on the way down 🙃We went on a dry day but if it’s raining, I would not recommend as it’s already pretty slippery.
I hiked up in the early morning to see the sunrise from the top. Devils slide is the tallest point in Pororgarup National Park, and is an easier alternative to Bluff Knoll. The hike is somewhat difficult, but any remotely active person with at least two functional legs can complete it without issue. Takes about 3 hours return if you take rests and time to enjoy the view. The hike is split into two halves, a gravel trail on a slight incline, followed by a steep ascent. Views from the top are great, and the walk itself is flanked by lush and varied vegetation. If you are like me and do an early morning hike, pick a day without clouds so you can actually see the sun when it rises.Highly recommend if you have functional eyes, legs, lungs and a desire to stand on top of tall things.
Nice view +6 starsHated walking up -1 starAlmost got blown off the top by the wind -1 star4 STARS 😁
