Devi Corner Shinagawa - Indian restaurant in Nishishinminato, Japan
Food with real Indian taste. Hygienic ambience. Chef customise the food as per one’s taste and requirement. Staff is very humble and serve the food with love. Overall ans excellent experience. Must try.
I stopped in at Devi for a late lunch. The people there are so nice. I was seated immediately and cool water and menu was offered. I ordered the Onion Bhaji which came with two yummy chutney sauces, Garlic Naan - super tasty and so fresh right out of the Tandoori oven with Saffron Rice - delicate and delicious and the Saag Paneer - wonderful cottage cheese and the sauce was so tasty. Great value in Shinagawa area. I would return next time I am in the area and recommend anyone who likes great Indian food to give them a try.
Really great indian food and very friendly staff.Vegetarian options also available.
A small shop, that fits plenty of people, and provides deliciously spiced Indian dishes.I had a taste of their samosas, cheese Tikka, tandoori chicken, and lamb piryani all of which tasted great! The samosas are hearty, especially with the sauce they provide, the Tikka is a flavorful cheese treat, the tandoori chicken is spicy and satisfying (although I personally wish they provided more per dish), and the piryani was way larger than I imagined from the menu picture but was full of fragrant spices!I unfortunately came after eating cake and ice cream, so I couldnt finish my dishes at all, but it was good~
I had Sag Paneer without cheese because I am vegan.🍛The taste was really good. The chef, named Sohan cooked vegan version for me.Also I had turmeric rice, which was great.Although his Japanese is on training, he is really friendly and nice.Next time I would like to go to Devi India as well.Sorry, I have not taken any photos
One of the best Indian Restaurants, I have been to in Shinagawa. Staff was super helpful in giving recommendations & service. If you are in luck you might even get free drink (Lassion the house. Its super cosy and songs that were playing would definitely give you India vibes. Obviously, not to mention that food was super awesome.P.S. if you go there then try to get Negi San as your waiter. He will ensure you will have a great time there.
Overall Excellent.. food was awesome, reasonable price and nice staff behaviour. If you are indian living in Tokyo, this place must be on your list
Very delicious food. I had ordered Matur Paneer,Dal Tadaka, curt and Rotis which delivered on time.Very supportive staff.
Mr. Negi from the Devi Corner restaurant is not only a great host but also a kind gentleman as he goes over and beyond in serving his customers. I was quarantining in a nearby quarantine hotel and called this restaurant and requested to deliver the food at the hotel. And even though I was a complete stranger and did not have Japanese Yen to pay in cash or pay by credit card over phone, Mr. Negi insisted me not to worry about payment at all and promptly brought the food to my quarantine hotel. This shows to what extent he and the restaurant goes to serve its customers. And after coming out of quarantine I have visited this restaurant with my local host in Japan, and enjoyed a great lunch meal served by Mr. Negi and his chefs. Great food and great customer service.
I have ordered couple of times rice and vegetable curry Dal tadaka and Chana masala. The food was very tasty where they have followed the recommendations mentioned to make it spicy and with more gravy..Nice place to try for indians who are new to japan.
The food was good but the waiter for some reason said they only accept cash and said card machine didnt work. But when we insisted/complained that we can only pay by card, magically their card machine worked. Its weird that Indian restaurants even in Japan behave so cheap.
I went there with a big group of friends on the 2nd of January for dinner. The staff there were so helpful just the level of service alone was worth the money we paid. There were 17 of us and and they diligently took down each order and accommodated each one of our individual requests and did not say no to anything. On top of that, they lavishly served us with free drinks (beer and lassiand kept on insisting to give us more food because they appreciated us coming at a time where the entire 2nd floor was empty.I had a samosa which does not sound like much but the one served at Devis was enough to fill me up till the end of the day. If you go there with a friend, just order one and ask them to cut it into half if you intend to have it as an appetizer. I washed down everything with one of their delicious lassis.Ill definitely be going back there again.
Good food and really nice waiter.Really enjoyed our dinner and some humor with Negi here!Thank you so much!
Really good food, best service so far i’ve had in Tokyo. Would def come back
Not the best Indian/Nepali food you can get in Shinagawa station. The price is also very high. They can accept credit card or cash. But just not worth the trouble of going from Shinagawa station. Would recommend it only if you are near. Naan was okay. Curry was good. Salad bowl was overflowing.
Oh my God flavor!!! It was a gift to my stomach! I was so sad that the meal ended. I wanted it to go forever. It was that good! I will be back as soon as I can! Thank you for such a great meal and service!!
One of the most authentic Indian restaurants, the food is tasty but not so oily and spicy like most other Indian restaurants. Staff is polite and kind, again also unlike most other Indian restaurants. Service is little slow but the taste makes it worth the wait. Would definitely recommend to friends!
One of the best indian restaurants in tokyo. Authentic food and kind staff.
I Visit this place whenever I stay in Shinagawa on Business Trip. Devi Corner is conveniently located, walking distance from Shinagawa Station. Service is friendly and very good. I have tried several things on the menu. Every time food is consistently good. Highly recommend this place, if you are craving for Indian food.
They have a unique way of serving masala papad. I have liked mostly everything from their menu.If you are looking for delicious samosa, this is the place.
It was ok, not bad but not memorable either. The naan are pretty big!
North Indian style restaurant provides option for both vegetarian and Non vegetarian food. Food is not spicy, option to multiple beverages along with food. Restaurant members are so friendly and helpful to get currency exchange from Shinagawa station when my credit card was not working. Thanks for your hospitality...!!!
Ive been in Tokyo for 10 years. This is the first authentic Indian food Ive had. The spices were rich and everything was done right full of flavor. We had the Biryani, fish curry and samosas. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Even the Nan was cooked properly.I would suggest this restaurant as a good example of proper Indian food.
We landed from India late Sunday night and post check in we visited Devi. We were welcomed with warmth even though the restaurant was about to close. Its has been a week now in Japan and trust me we close our eyes and go to Devi for dinner every day. This is one of my top 10 favourite restaurants. Along with serving absolutely delicious food, they have a wide variety as well. In all of my visits to this restaurant, they make amazing North Indian cuisine and their Biryanis are super delish!Negi San is a gem and the way he take care of his guest is amazing. He never gets tried and his chefs do a wonderful job.Although the decor is so whimsical and true indian with great Indian music, I feel it could get a bit congested, especially during the weekends. But this honestly has no bearing on my dining experience as the food and service make up for it 10 fold. Trust me its a treat to every Indian as we get the best Indian food.To summarize :Food-5/5Service- 5/5Decor- 4/5Value for money- 4/5I
A real Indian restaurant...and the best Indian food Ive had to date. Many unique dishes that you cannot find at typical Indian curry restaurants. A real treat. Staff was perfect. Price was very reasonable - much less than expected given the quality.
Taste: It was good. Better than expected. However, when we have Biryani we expect it to be prepared using basmati rice. The accompaniment of the chilli pickle was good.Price: the price is a little on the higher side compared to the quantity.Ambience: It was good. Typical Indian restaurant in Tokyo.
Very delicious chicken biryani. It has many flavours, with many minced ingredients. It comes with yogurt and a spicy paste, to add ad you like. The atmosphere is very laid back and staff is friendly.
Stopped by for a late afternoon snack on our way to Osaka. The samosas and tandoori chicken was to die for. The chicken was so moist! Highly recommend if you ever feel like Indian food while in Japan.
Kind of festive Indian atmosphere with a big party room upstairs. Too noisy to dictate the first draft inside. Looks kind of suitable for less serious drinking, and no Wi-fi of their own. Indian cooks with Nepali server. A little bit away from the station, but seemed to be attracting a big lunch crowd on a quiet Tuesday.Large portion of soup-style curry with generous ingredients. Default spice level was a bit strong for Japanese taste, but good. Sweet and tasty naan was unevenly cooked, but the oven may have been heated up preparing for the lunch rush that soon began. I thought the onion on the salad was especially good.I feel like Im giving out a lot of high fours these days, but I have to do it in this case, too.
Located at a walkable distance from the metro station in the urbane area of Shinagawa, this place is not very hard to miss owing to the fancy lights and the very Indian like aroma emanating from the place as you stroll on the sidewalk. The place is neither big nor small, with ample seating arrangements on 2 floors of service. The place offers more variety in terms of Indian dishes, compared to most Indian restaurants in Tokyo. What makes this place worth visiting again is the taste which matched the spice palate of Indians. Would recommend this place for a pleasant dinner.
Best place of there own style of making biryani . awesome veg food here and loved the way the added the cashews with there own spices..
This is one of my best experiences in Japan. In my entire stay of 2 weeks, Their food and service was amazingly good. I really liked the taste and their service. I found veg and non-veg both good. If you don’t find your preferred dish in menu, just ask them and they will make it possible. We got aloo paratha 😊
We had the most amazing Indian meal in Tokyo. After spending around nine days in Tokyo and eating fantastic Japanese cuisine, we were craving for some indian food. Our google search landed us at Devi. When we arrived, the place was packed. If it wasn’t for Yoginder Negi, the supercharged manger of the restaurant, we would have left. He not only made us want to stay, he also recommended just the perfect meal choices - kadhai chicken, fish tikka masala with naan. Everything was fabulous along with Indian beer and Japanese whiskey :). A big shoutout to Negi who is a great asset to this restaurant. He has a beautiful connection with his customers - as was quite apparent when we were there.
One of the best restaurant in Tokyo if you want to eat Indian food. I have been eating at this place for more than 3 weeks and was never disappointed. Mr. Negi pays attention to all the customers and makes sure everyones taste is met. He many times made dishes beyond the menu.Must go to place..!
Overall the food is tasty, although the lamb (in lamb kormacould have been more tender. The naan is beautiful. The service was a little abrupt at first, but became more friendly later on. Just too expensive.
Great, authentic India food, wonderful service and very warm & welcoming staff led very well by manager Mr. Negi. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a taste of Indian food. For vegetarians, the Matar Paneer and Vegetable Biryani are a must try.
Good food. Great ambience.. friendly staff
We tried several vegetarian restaurants in Japan. Food in Devi corner, tasted the best. Staffs are friendly and caring. Price is bit expensive. But taste, no compromise. Very good hospitality.
We visited Devi Corner several times during October-2018 during our official trip.We tried several vegetarian options n they were really good. Taste was really authentic and staff are friendly and caring. We were given compliment items several times.Mr. Yoginder Singh Negi was very helpful n he made us feel at home. I highly recommend this place to taste authentic Indian food to feel like home away from home .
An authentic Indian restaurant, very close to Shinagawa Station, offers both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian options. Quality and taste of the food is good. Offers North Indian Cuisine only. A decent ambiance and nice service. However bit expensive
Great atmosphere and lots of room on the 2nd floor. The Chana masala was spicy and fragrant with lots of garlic, celery, and coriander. Good samosas. Friendly, English speaking staff.
One of the best Indian meal I have had in Tokyo. People are so friendly starting with the host, Negi, other service professionals and the chefs. I had Bhunna Mutton, Grilled marinated (in cashews, yogurt and limeChicken and Naan. Everything was simply wonderful and tasty, in a cozy atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit already!!!
This India restaurant is near 450 meters from Shinagawa station. The nan is so delicious, especial garlic nan. I recommend the “bhuna mutton” which is very hot and with special aroma that I can’t tell. The butter chicken is also good, rich and sweet.
Surprised to have one of my best, most authentic Indian experiences in Tokyo. Service was impeccable, with staff being attentive and providing a number of treats on the house. The curries were delicious and naans fresh. Great spot.
Good food, also for veggies. Tasty and reasonable. No fancy place but cozy and very friendly. Quick service without reservation. Would go here again
It was my second time to go there and all of their foods made my night perfectly!Curry is one of my favorite foods, but especially their curry and nan are pretty amazing. My recommendation is saag paneer and cheese nan. Thanks so much for your warm service ネギさん :))Can’t wait to visit there again!
I loved this group restaurant in Azabu. Here has the similar taste, and it was lovely!
I am reading all the reviews here and I really cant beleive my eyes. This is the worst indian restaurant I have ever been to in Tokyo. I went there for lunch, it cost 1100 yen. The curry consistency was close to a miso soup. It was so watered down I couldnt feel any taste. Furthermore the Keema curry that is supposed to contain minced meat was vegetarian. Also there was a small cocrach on the wall. I really do not recommend this place. I hope they will try to serve better quality food for next customers.
You are in Tokyo so its hard to find a Indian restaurant that actually serves Indian food.Well this is almost as good as it gets. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly. BTW they will cook real spicy stuff if you ask nicely. If you are from the subcontinent and feel a bit homesick, this is a place that will help a lot.
Fantastic authentic Indian food. We ordered the Naan bread sampler to try all the different types, garlic was our favorite. Between four of us, we ordered 5 main dishes plus two full naan breads on top of the sampler. It was a lot to eat, but it was great to have a good sample of all the dishes. We also ordered the mango lassi to complement the meal. The wait staff was super friendly and spoke good English. We sat upstairs and really enjoyed the atmosphere.
