Visited numerous time with my team. Deul means Temple and Ghat or Ghata means cluster or a place. This place is one of the most important heritage site of Purulia. Out of three magnificent structure one monument collapsed some years back. Deulghata is basically a Jain site located approx. thirty kilometer from Purulia Town. You can enjoy the mesmerising landscape of river Kasai (Kangsawatihere. The Rekh Deul type temples are only 100 ft away from the river. Several scenes of bollywood film Lootera shot here.

Relics of temples erected by Pal and Sen dynasties. These heritage monuments are not maintained properly. Very neglected by the tourism industry of West Bengal. Need more attention by the govt. to make it more popular among the tourists.

Remotely located, about 45 kms from Purulia city. A place where ancient Buddhist stup can be seen in dilapidated condition. Ancient temples of historic Sen and Pal dynasty periods. The old bridge over a free flowing natural KANSAI river. ITS attractive. Moonlight evenings enhanced the beauty. Although its better to return in day light as about 8 - 10 kms road have stretches full of big big ditches, water filled, with unknown depth.During DURGA PUJA, on saptami - astami the local mandir management arranges BHANDARA for all visitors.Still people / locals too dont know about the place so extra pollution and plastic waste was less.

Amazing historical place!! It is roughly 26km from Purulia town. The ancient terracotta works are mesmerizing. Actually the best time to visit Deulghata is March- April if you want to enjoy the road also. The trees are covered with Palaash to make your memory of this journey colourful!!

People visiting Tunta should not miss out on this marvel. Around 500metres away from the Kansai view point are the Deulghata temples which bears testimony to the rich archeological legacy of our country.

There are three tall brick deuls with stucco decoration. The other temples at Deulghata, mostly of stone, have fallen down. “All the three have triangular corbelled entrances with towers built up by interior corbelling. The corbelled entrance of the southern temple is high and graceful with a delicate curve. All of them have rich curved brickwork with stucco application. They depict chaityas and miniature rekha motifs. The stucco application includes scrollwork with geese and foliation, dwarfs familiar from Pala–Sena age art. The stucco is fine and would appear to date from the same period as that on the Bahulara and Satdeulia temples.” [1]The first temple is 60 feet tall with distinctive decoration. “Floral designs and Hindu and Jain symbols can be seen on the walls”. The second temple is similar to the first. “A small image of Ganesh is distinguishable inside. There are also images of divinities similar to figures in the Nepali Hindu paintings.” The third temple is in bad shape.[5]“Many scholars believe that a trade route passed through Purulia. The district’s temples and deities are mainly Brahmanical but have Jain influences at several places like Telkupi, Pakbirra, Deulghata, Budhpur and Suisa".

Deulghat, a place near Boram in Arsha PS. It has the ruins of 15 temples near the Kansai River. The stucco decoration is the notable architecture made on the temple. The entrances of those temples are entangled with the branches of trees, casting an eerie. However, these temples are representations of the age, when they were built. The excellent skills are evident in the wreckage of the temples and idols reflect strong evidence of SEN & PAL empires. Moreover, the temples adorned with graceful carve attracts visitors, and hence are important in the tourism of Purulia.

Near to Begunkodor Boram, on Kasai river bank, this is a n ancient temple city. Few have been excavated, many still underground. Here history speaks.Accommodation - better option is to stay at Muruguma or Ayodhya hills and go for a day visit.Nearest Rail head - Begunkodor.

The perfect example of the govt apathy in purulia tourism can be seen here . 2 ancient temples beside kongshaboti river, no maintenance, no board mentioning about the history and detailing how jain influence can be seen in the structures. All you get to see is remains of unruly people and their leftover debris.

This is a Historical Place. So many visitors witnessed this place in winter. This is the debris of buddist temple of deulghata, in Puruliya District under West Bengal, India which was established in 3000 years ago. Where you can see a different type of idol of Hindu Devi Druga which was designed by the Buddhists.

Deulghata temple is Siddheshwar Shiv Temple as the deity is now worshipped like that. The Shivlingas is of black stone.Earlier it was a Jain temple as the king who built this was himself of Jainism faith. Afterward, the Brahmana faith or Hinduism was adopted by the next kings. And the temples were changed to Shiv Temple. Previously there were three temples. The tallest one has now perished. Only remaining two temples, both of which are made of brick. Stucco covering was there. On the upper portion, you can witness the bas reliefs. But those temples are not maintained properly. As a result, banyan trees have grown on the upper parts. Termite built their colony inside one of the temples. There are more temples nearby. In fact, that is a temple complex, where other deities are worshipped regularly. Those ancient idols are made of black stone. This beautiful heritage must be kept and maintained properly.

No one knows about this place as such. It is a beautiful place with so much history ingrained in it. The local people are full of love and really welcoming. I would love to visit the place again. It would be great if the govt takes action to preserve the over 2000 years old temples.
