I ordered ox tails they were extremely small and didn’t appear to be fresh. The dressing wasn’t good also the greens. Don’t waste you time on the Mac and cheese also we had smothered pork chops

The food was good!

Dressing was gummy with a bar BBQ flavor., the meatloaf dry and tight. We purchased 3 dinners out of the 3 the only thing that I would recommend would be the fried okra, the fried chicken has no seasoning at all. If you was not looking at it you would not know it was fried chicken. A great menu just need better Cooks thats not good in the hood

Soul Food at its finest. I cant ever decide on what to order, so I order a meat and 3 plus a vegetable plate and of course a banana pudding.

If you want sum good home cooked southern food this the place if you scared to cross them tracks to get it then stay where you at 😆 just was lil upset they forgot my cornbread but other than that I will return!

They are just a little slow and not so customer focused with interaction and friendliness.

We went to this restaurant and spent over 60 and all the food was bad. It was old food. Then we call to let the owner know and he cuss my wife for letting him know that all three dinner plates was bad. My mother in law even got sick behind this. We have no problem paying for good food so apparently this restaurant is about just taking your money cause the food there now is Horrible and the owner BURT HAMMOND is not professional at all and don’t care about customer service. Please don’t waste your money or time.

We went here and bought $60 worth of food and everything was nasty. I got two oxtail plates with extra sides and literally nothing tasted good. I was very disappointed.We couldn’t even eat the food so my money was just wasted.

I dont know who told yall that liquid smoke goes on pig feet and ears but they dont please try original recipe no liquid smoke

Beef tips and rice and the Mac and cheese were great! The corn rolls are very good. Could live without the peach cobbler. I will be ordering again !

The food is amazing. Everything is homemade. By the way one cornbread muffin is the size of a small pancake and delicious. I order meatloaf, black eyed peas, turnip greens, dressing, Mac & cheese, with corn bread. This was a meat and 2 with 2 extra vegetables. The portions were so much I made 3 meals off of this order. Destinys on the one, keep doing what your doing👍

The food is delicious, but they are so dang slow, I even called ahead with my order and still had to wait.

Destinys is the bomb. The location is not that great. But, since I was looking for great food with a menu choir that made me happy. I was so inclined to Destinys the high five. Great food.

This was the best soul food ever! I cook a lot at home myself but THIS was some good eating: frief pork chop, collards, mac n cheese n candied yams! Oh yeah the corn bread was like a small loaf or muffin just the right amount of sweet...perfect. I rearely write reviews but highly recommend...

I heard about Destinys on the radio. So, I decided to go by on Friday April 16, 2021. I ordered 2 plates. One Pork chop with cabbage candy yams and Meatloaf with, greens and yams. The meatloaf was burned and was cold. I guess it was placed in a mic wave, pork chops, were burned like they had been over cooked. I was very disappointed. I paid $24.72 dollars for a mic wave dinners. I want be back. Oh, I Forgot, They didnt give me my receipt after I gave them my MONEY.

I dont know who granny yall got in the back but she is throwing down 🙌🏾🙌🏾 I love some good food all yall delivered. Ribs grilled not boiled, greens and Mac tasted like thanks giving... Ill be back!

Two years ago my family and I kept hearing the advertisement on the radio for months. It caught our attention so good due to the guy who was advertising it. We finally all loaded up and went to this restaurant one day. It was a total waste of time. We spent 70 some dollars on some warmed up food. The oxtails didnt have meat on them forreal. My momma couldnt get her steak because they didnt have any available. The beef tips were so chewy like they wasnt cooked all the way. Our food was being served out a crockpot plus we kept hearing a microwave go off. The only thing that was cooked fresh was the fried chicken.

Mask required, not packed, friendly staff, order came out fast, lots of food for your money! Taste good to!

The wait is too long and the order taker is very loud , slow, and disrespectful to customer. Took almost a hour for baked chicken, cabbage, and Mac and cheese other order 3 wings, collards, peach cobbler and dressing. I felt like they had to drive to get the food then cook it will never go there again it is pityful.

This is my 3rd trip to Birmingham from Denver, I can no longer find soul food of this caliber at home, so every time Im here I continue to look.This Place Is The Real Deal, if you looking for real down-home cooking this is the place. I had the smothered pork chops which were large tender tasteful, the cabbage and the mashed potatoes, Black eyed peas were off the chain, also got a large peach cobbler and a large banana pudding, if you go there get extra on all the sides and the corn bread. Cant wait to go back.Also the lady behind the counter will amaze you shes only there Fridays and Sundays. Amazing place, amazing food and service.

The best damn country/soul food in the State!! Owner was very friendly. Clean place, music was a little loud but the food makes ya block out any noises!! Prices certainly fit the food and The portions are huge!!!

It is very clean the people was very nice and the food is great, cooked down home style just the way I like it, I will recommend it to anyone.

Everytime I order from here they always get my order wrong, I ordered $35 worth of food and literally everything was wrong. They burnt my burger and Philly for the second time. My Philly had Jalapeños in it, that I never asked for. I asked for 2 cakes, they gave me neither cake, but they gave me a coconut cake.......asked for 2 large Mac n cheese they only gave me 1. I just couldn’t win with this place. It’s ridiculous

Well I tried it twice, first time no complaints, I ordered today early as soon as they opened.... my bread was cold my cabbage was cold as if it was in the fridge I called to tell them and they argued that they cooked it fresh and it wasn’t cold, like it wasn’t warm you guys the food was cold! The person on the phone proceeds to ask me what did I want him to do about it! Lol, nothing I guess, I hate trying new places, smh

I was in the mood for Soul Food and decided to try Bessemer, my neighboring city. I Googled and several restaurants popped up. I went to one restaurant and they didn’t have greens so I tried another spot and they had greens. They were on a steam table and I asked if the greens were canned and they gladly replied, they are frozen greens. I was determined to get fresh greens so I tried Destiny’s. As I walked in, I could smell that it was some good cooking going on. I ordered a veggie plate and the food was delicious. Everything was so fresh and seasoned to please. I think I found my go to spot for greens, did I mention they had collards and turnips?

Horrible!! The yams were burnt. The cabbage and baked chicken was nasty. The corn bread muffin tasted old. The fried corn was manageable.

I dont give 5 stars often. But when I do, there are 4 basic requirements that a restaurant has to possess in order to earn MY 5 stars: a.great food b.top notch service c.affordable prices and d.clean dining area. Destiny on the One passed the test.After church, my mom and I decided to try this place out. Since we attend church in the area, it wasnt a far drive. As we arrived, we saw a few cars parked but not a crowded parking lot, which was just fine for us. As my mom found her a seat, I approached the cashier when it was my turn to order. I explained that it was our first time eating there, and I asked if the entire menu was available. The friendly lady who took my order said yes and waved to mom after asking where she was sitting. She said she wanted to make sure my mom was properly "welcomed" as a first time guest. Major brownie points here. I ordered the fried pork chop with dressing and Mac and cheese. I ordered mom the baked chicken with collard greens and dressing. A lemonade and peach tea rounded our order off.After walking to another window to pay for our food, I sat down with my mom. We did not have to wait long for our food to come out. We got it in to-go boxes just in case we didnt finish it all. To summarize it: both of us throughly enjoyed every last crumb of deliciousness that we had on our plates. So much that we didnt even need the to-go boxes. Everything was seasoned just like someones Grandma was back in that kitchen. Even my mom, who can be hard to please when it comes to soul food, was happy with her plate. We are already planning on making this our weekly eating spot after church. Its just that good.At less than $20 for two plates with two drinks, the price was very affordable. The workers were super friendly and made sure that we were pleased with our food and our service. This review will serve as the answer to that.I kinda want to be selfish and keep this place hush-hush so it wont get too crowded, but I cant be like that. I want them to do well because...they deserve to. The food is awesome, the service is awesome and the prices are awesome. And to me, that deserves my 5 stars. Awesome!

The food is absolutely delicious only thing the wait time for it , but it be so worth the wait !!! Fished Fish deliciouss! Pork chops the best I ever had !!! Great restaurant and the owner/staff is very friendly

My first time to this restaurant and I wonder what I have been doing my entire life. I should have been located this place. I am not from Alabama but while visiting my in-laws I Googled nearest restaurants and I choose Drstinys. Beside the pick of my lovely wife this is my next best pick. Customer service food and presentation felt as I was at moms home eating dinner and having all her attention. Wow Destinys is doing everything correct. Thank you for having me at your spot.

Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Food.....not so much. Portion sizes are very small in comparison to price. Ordered baked chicken, it looked like a drumette and Cornish hens thigh...not even a full leg quarter. Fried green tomatoes were soggy and greasy, huge cuts a half of inch thick.....drove to see what they type was.......NOT IMPRESSED...Eagles is wayyyyyy better.

My first time at Destiny was not a good experience but the food was great. I called my order in and still had to wait an extra 30 minutes to get my food.

Best food. OMG my favorite is the hamburger steak & okra. Very clean inside. & also may I add youd think your mom or grandma🤗😌 was in that kitchen I promise. Nice friendly people oh yes dont forget to grab some peach cobbler😉
