This place has a great vibe in season with super nice bartenders. Out of season it is more intimate but as much as a bar can be.

Definitely had an eventful time visiting this bar when in Swakopmund during a trip to Namibia in Aug 2018! One of the few places in town open late (most bars/restaurants close at 10 pm during the week). Eclectic mix of locals, South Africans and travelers. It’s on the outskirts of town and walking back from bar to hotels late at night can be a little harrowing. Would recommend taking a ride back or walking with a group, etc.

Food not bad,but they have the best Racist band 😶😶😶. If you wanna make money out of people you should treat people right!!! If you wanna meet extremely racist folks go to this place. We had to leave and go to Infinity lounge (swakopmund)which was the best club around town. People were so lovely at that lounge (Infinityunlike Desert Tavern 💩💩💩👎👎👎👎

Best fish and chips Ive ever eaten. Depending on the crowd the atmosphere can get really good especially outside around the fire pit. Love it

The ambiance was great. Apparently on Saturdays they have live music and I was fortunate enough to get a listen. If you need a place to eat later at night, is the place to go. I got the stuffed calamari and it tasted very yummy, it was a lot of food and i was able to save one for the next day!

Everything you expect from an out of town tavern; live music, decently priced drinks, and a convivial crowd. Loved it!

A place for a night to remember. They make amazing Peter Breads, Burgers and yummy Pizzas! If your a Tourist you might get lucky with local musicians taking the stage.

Arrived to a cold dark place where the music was too loud, but the waiter was so great in getting the music turned off, getting a big fire going and being amazingly helpful. This turned into a great evening out. Great food, some Namibian beer. Worth the little trip away from the centre.

We only came here once and our experience was ok. The mussels were good but a very small portion for any other time I’ve ordered mussels. The pizza was nice that we ordered, but unfortunately my shrimp did not look like the photo that was posted on here. They were much smaller and very over cooked. Our server was nice, but the kitchen was slow that night and she apologized. I would come back but I was not blown away by the food. The environment is very nice, but make note it’s mainly outside so make sure to dress warm or sit next to the fire.

Wonderful local bar. Great vibe, good drinks, fun music. Natasha and the rest of the staff are all wonderful!! Highly recommended.

The Desert Tavern is an authentic Swakopmund experience. This is the place where the locals go for a drink and an honest plate of food. Live music on occasion.

Great place to hang out. Food is good and the beer is better. They often have live music. Lots of seating areas and near to the town center, pay them a visit for sure.

Good food (Diablo Pizza), warm fire pit and drinks. Perfect place for small music bands and more... Its my second home...

Fish not recommendable!We were 8 people and the only table,It took the kitchen long time to serve all of us . We tried the fish but its probably the worst place in town to eat fish, If you go out to desert tavern maybe better try meat.The Service Staff was friendly and good!
