Across the street from the Reuss river, this relaxed hotel with views of the Alps is a 2-minute walk from the Kapellbrücke wooden footbridge and a 5-minute walk from the Luzerner Theater.Warm rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, minifridges and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms add balconies and/or river views. Kids age 4 and under stay at no extra cost with an adult.A continental breakfast buffet is included. There's also a restaurant featuring a terrace with river views.
Had a 3 nights stay here in Des Alpes hotel. The hospitality of the reception and restaurant staff is amazing. The room is spacious clean and the toilet had a modern chic touch to it. For some reason, the side couch is super comfortable too !The restaurant staff introduced an smoothing and light Pinot Gris from Brunner, Switzerland and the cheesecake was superb !The hotel is also located near the train station with easy access to the boat ride and shopping area too. Highly recommend this hotel !
A very expensive 300+ CHF disappointment. Room had a view but no charm and very little convenience. Creaky floor and lots of early morning noise from room above. Bedding was very strange, no oversheet. I think we learned of this place from Rick Steves and we will have advise him of our experience. Glad it was only one night.
Location 10/10Front desk employees 6/10 not very cooperativeRooms decoration is poor
The location was lovely - right in the heart of downtown Lucerne. Beautiful views of the old chapel bridge from the room. Clean and comfortable rooms. Concierge was kind and helpful and shared some great recommendations for the area. Will definitely stay here again!
Excellent location. The entrance is literally on the other side of the building that faces Chapel bridge and restaurants. We walked from a train station, very friendly service and reception as well. The only reason Im giving 4, it was extremely hot for me. The room was on a 4th floor, and it looks like as an attics area. No AC. We visited at begining of August; so, a large fan in a room that was provided didnt make any difference for me. If you ok with heat, the place is a fantastic choice. In my case, I had to sleep with wet towels, to make it tolerable.
This is the cutest hotel I have ever stayed in..very close proximity with railway station and just in front of chapel bridge. They gave us cookies and a hand written note which was such a beautiful gesture. Loved it!
I dont know how this hotel got so many five-star ratings. Its in a great location along the water. But its an old hotel and I checked in on a hot day and there was no air conditioning just a fan in the room. I understand because its an old place and not usually that hot. One of the few hotels in Europe that doesnt include breakfast. I had breakfast and told the waiter I wanted a side order of bacon with my omelette. The Omelette was very bland. He brought me the omelette with no bacon and told me the bacon was in the omelet. It was not. Then when I finished all my breakfast and getting ready to leave he comes over with a plate with four pieces of bacon on it. Breakfast was fairly expensive especially considering the quality.
I’ve had the most horrible night ever1-there was so much spiders in the room like it was hunted in every corner there was a web and spider..2- thay don’t have air conditioning thay just have 1 small fan and it can’t cool the room3- thay don’t any have service in 12:00AMEven for emergenciesThay just have a good view THATS IT….
Friendly service, great location & comfy bed
An absolutely gorgeous view from the balcony of our room here! Although you can’t see the sun rise or set directly, the color changes on the mountains and over the water are spectacular. The hotel staff was charming and you can’t beat the location of this place. We would love to return.
We had a fantastic stay! We loved the location, and also, the balcony view from our room! The staff was excellent as well! Our only regret was that we could not stay long enough. However, we look forward to fixing that upon our next visit to Lucerne, and to this hotel!
For the restaurant, not worth it, food over priced for what they serve, not nice. Service horrible, not attentive at all. Only location that is on the lake and next to the bridge. Maybe have a coffee, but better dont waste your time and money.
Restaurant is really great nice food
Great location near the train station. Views from our room were amazing.
The food was exceptionally delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Our waiter was originally from Hungary and spoke very good English. He was efficient and patient with our foursome
We had an excellent stay in Room 346 (Room Type: Double Twin with view to the Chapel Bridge and Balcony, 12m2). Our room was cozy and clean with the most amazing view of the river and Chapel Bridge.- The room was a "twin" which means 2 twin beds pushed together to make a King. There was also a small desk and chair.- The balcony was snug, but had two chairs and a table.- The TV had many channels (all were in German).- The location is perfect near the train station and Chapel Bridge.- The onsite restaurant on the first floor was incredible! We ended up getting a table right on the river and decided to ditch our plans for the day and order food and drinks for a couple of hours in mid-afternoon. We liked it so much that we came back for dinner.I would highly recommend Hotel Des Alpes, specifically a room with a view of Chapel Bridge.
The double room with Chapel Bridge view was amazing. Modern washroom and room was large.
I had afternoon tea and valentines evening here. Prices were very fair and food was excellent along with the service.
Most amazing egg benedict!:Such fresh, high quality ingredients and super tasty! Very recommended to go for breakfast! Also such friendly service!
Great location!!! Adorable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Right in the heart of the city, recommend lake view room with a balcony- it’s worth it! Only downside the showers were a little small
Great views and exceptional location. Friendly staff. But, rooms are old, floor is not straight. Not many plugs in the room and in bad places. Cleanliness could be better. Light switches are a nightmare, you can’t charge your phone without the lights ON. Coffee machine in the room is from the 1800 and terrible. I would probably try another hotel next time.
Superb location! Friendly staff. We enjoyed the view from our room and had a great time in Luzern.
We had a fantastic meal in a fantastic venue absolutely perfect. The waitress was great I would highly recommend eating here.
Beautiful riverside location. Friendly staff but a bit overwhelmed. Perhaps because of a very busy summer Saturday evening. Small, good local wine selection by the glass. The salad and fries were top notch, the cordon-blue was ok yet seemed pre-made with the breading not fluffy enough.
Beautiful old hotel, but there is no air conditioning. We have a lovely small room with a balcony overlooking the river.
Good hotel, attentive and polite service. Only didnt rate 5 stars as there is no air con and it was quite warm in the middle of summer. They did provide a fan though!
My husband and I very much enjoyed our recent visit to this hotel. It’s located perfectly with gorgeous views. Splurge on a Chapel Bridge view with a balcony! This picture was from our balcony. Staff were all extremely kind and helpful.
If you are looking for a hotel only from convenience point of view then this looks okay. But if you are looking for good service and nice view etc. this is not the right place to stay. Also the restaurant staff are not very helpful here. So of you have kids better you try some other hotels
I see so many good reviews here that I almost don’t want to disagree. I think it must be an amazing experience when you’re staying at the hotel, but we only had supper there because we wanted to sit indoors and not outside. The staff was friendly. The fish and chips were the same as a few blocks around the corner. Only difference is that there it cost €15 and here €31 (must be the view you’re paying for?). And yes, depending on the dish the price ranges in that area can sky rocket even in low season. But when the bill came I was a bit stunned when a tip was asked. Hence a bit of a warming: when staff are friendly they do expect a tip. I wish I would get a tip everytime I give my best service on the job. It really felt awkward after this.
We loved this hotel. The location is fantastic, right in the Old Town, close to everything and a short walk across the bridge to the train station. It is eady to find too. The best part is being on the lake and being able to see the Chapel Bridge. The staff are all wonderful, so helpful and friendly. They are the best I have encountered in five weeks traveling this time in Europe. The rooms are good, as are the breakfasts.
Ate at the restaurant, cheese fondue and veal/ mushrooms. Service was so so. Veal was good, but portion small. The sourdough for fondue however, does not look fresh. Had hot water at 3 Chf a cup (because had to sit in cold windy outdoors due to fondue, which i think was a rip off.
Great location! Staff is great, friendly, accommodating. The included breakfast was great. Room was clean and inviting. The balcony was the cream on top! Shower is tiny, but that’s all!
Hotel with amazing balcony rooms overlooking the river and chapel bridge. Comfy, but not opulent rooms (no wall art, no AC). Central to old Town and train station. Basic breakfast included.
Friendly service from our waitress; great view on the balcony; amazing summer lunch of beef tartar, cold cuts with cheese and pickles, and thinly sliced veal with a refreshing lemon sauce. Come here!
Very good location on the river, near the shopping and near the train station. The room was clean but small. Our room had a view of the square and church behind the hotel. A room on the river side would give a great view of everything going on near the river but also of Mt. Pilatus.
My cousin and I chose the Hotel des Alpes as our first stop on vacation. We corresponded several times prior to arrival and always got prompt, thoughtful replies. What a great decision to choose this hotel! Simon and the desk team were wonderful and always very helpful. The view from our balcony was perfect and we enjoyed relaxing at night with our glasses of wine to the sights of the city. The location cant be beat with the closeness to the train and boat docks, and the fun shops to visit. Saturday mornings there is a farmers market on the street below. Quite a treat!
We went to this restaurant for a lunch and everything from Food&Bevarages was cool. Interier is nice, tables are clean and ready to serve a new customer. Staff is very polite and fast, but they was stressed out I think because of the manager. We could see that he work under the pressure and he wast really sure about what he was doing. This broke up our good feeling about this place. We are recommending the food and the drinks, but you should do something with your Manager .
Excellent location, service & everything you need in your room. But location is tops. Easy to get to railway, boats, lion memorial, bridges & old wall. Excellent breakfast also. Can walk everywhere from here. Love it!
Lovely hotel, along the river in the center of the old town (Altstadt). It’s situated just next to theKappellbrucke historic bridge. The front desk people are so friendly and helpful, and we especially appreciated all the recommendations given us by Nadine for food, excursion, etc..We arrived around 1 PM, and were given an early check in, which was appreciated. Lunch along the river in their adjoining restaurant was great, as were drinks one night. Again, great staff at the restaurant as well. Great location!Room is large for a Swiss hotel, with a nice bathroom w/ enough surfaces to actually place our toiletries, and a generous sized closet to put our clothing, etc.. Everywhere you go, it’s clean and renovated. Bed (two singles pushed together w/ separate duvetsis comfortable, windows open to get the air, and though there is no AC, an oscillating fan is supplied. We stayed on the town side, and are happy as it’s quieter than the river view rooms. Would recommend and would stay here again!
We got the smallest cramped room at the 5TH floor. Did not feel comfortable. Staff are helpful. You can park your car at the Bahnof parking lot with a subsidised rate. It is in the old part of town and you can stroll through the shopping areas. Nice breakfast.
Accommodation in the best part of town. Clean, well maintained rooms with comfy beds. Rooms are quite spacious. Hotel staff provided us with a great little guide / city map which included all of the well-known attractions in Luzern. Only criticism is the breakfast, not a great deal of options and nothing spectacular in terms of quality.
we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. the room was big and clean and the view was beautiful of Chapel bridge. the location was perfect and close from everything.the breakfast fine simple.the staff are nice.
This was a very nice old type of hotel with a very old view of Luzern. Rooms were good, but little small. Restaurants where good with good food. It is 4 - 5 mins from station and in center of the city near and facing the lake. Room n toilets have all the amenities. The best part about this hotel was their staff, which was over helpful and always solved all our queries with a smile on their face. The receptionist was Lovely! Wish this kind of staff is there in all Europe.
This is a great value (relative to Switzerlandplace on the river that still delivers with high quality and hospitality. The staff are very hospitable and can help with all requests. They have a picture menu on request for tourists not sure what certain items are, in addition to English descriptions. Their alcohol selection is diverse and their food is amazing. The Rösti was a star, especially with their fig mustard. Definitely recommend coming here for your Swiss food checklist.
Google walking maps made the walk across the river from the train station to this hotel just at the end of the covered bridge VERY frustrating.Once we found the hotel, we found it to be a great and quiet hotel. The only issue was too many tourists in the hotel dining areas (and in townand a leaking shower door that flooded the bathroom floor every time it was used.
Great location, with fantastic views (some balconiesoverlooking the chapel bridge. The reception desk is at the "back" of the hotel, since the restaurant immediately overlooks the river. There is an elevator to all floors for hotel guests. If you use the stairs to get to breakfast, there is another stairwell to the restaurant that you access from outside the hotel. The rooms were a decent size, but definitely had some noise and air flow issues. Our in room fan shut itself off in the middle of a very warm night. The staff was personable, and were always cheerful with a greeting as we walked by. The higher floors seem to have less street noise.
Fantastic hotel at a great location. Very friendly staff, great breakfast. Id love to stay again one day. If there is a drawback it is parking. No parking available nearby. Nevertheless, public transport is in near proximity.
The rooms themselves were pretty basic, not huge. However, our balcony made up for that. We had a gorgeous view of the chapel bridge, so we spent most of our time on the balcony. The restaurant was very modern, breakfast was delicious! Great hospitality.
Very clean and friendly hotel. Our room was overlooking the bridge and was beautiful. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast. The wait staff were quick to serve and the fondue and salmon dinner were good. My wife and I enjoyed our two nights here and would recommend it!
We had the upper floor room overlooking the Kappelbrucke. It was a great room with modernized bathroom and a great view of the city/lake. The elevator is small but adequate. Dining was average but breakfast on the balcony was good. Good places to eat next door. Great location. Loved it overall.
