Great way to spend an hour if youre in Athlone. So much to see, fantastic and very varied collection.
Excellent museum. A massive array of items from a bygone era. Lots of little set ups such as a school classroom, dairy and much, much more. I highly recommend this fantastic visitor attraction.
Wonderful place, great guide in Charlie.
Well worth a visit, an Irish experience, a life time of collecting Charlie, and it was unreal to see. Thanks.
Our family loved our visit to this museum. How amazing it was to see so many historical artifacts of Irish history in one place! The husband and wife team were so kind, welcoming and accommodating. I brought my children, who are ages 3 to 14 and each one enjoyed our visit greatly. The location is quiet and beautiful and the admission fees are reasonable.
I recently visited Derryglad museum on two occasions. Firstly on a school tour with my 3rd class who enjoyed learning about and experiencing rural life long ago.Next visit I brought my 81 year old father and his friend who reminisced and relived farming and rural life from times past. Charlie was a wonderful guide with both the 9 year olds and the senior citizens. Bridie accommodated us when it rained outside so the children could eat inside.A wonderful gem in the heartland of Ireland - an experience for both young and old to enjoy.
Beautiful little museum only a short drive from Athlone. Absolutely packed with things from the past an amazing collection some beautifully restored with the owners so friendly and more than willing to share the wealth of knowledge the have. Would definitely recommend a stop here

What a great place so interesting looking back at all the amazing pieces of history. The owners were so happy to show us around and answer many questions. They have a great collection of memories from all around the Roscommon and wider area . Thanks
Their museum is not just full of the stuff they collected and were given over the last twenty-four years !Its full of memories from recent years with something for everyone. If there is nothing here that provokes a memory of growing up in Ireland or of you Mam & Dad or your Grandparents then just chat to the owners, everything here has a story and they are so willing to tell.I have a shed full of stuff which my wife tells me to get rid of and today she paid into this mans sheds full of stuff and reminisced for hours. Stuff = Memories, one mans junk is another mans gold.A great day out !Thanks for the memories !

Items that were described in the past but to actually see them was great. This is a passion, not a job. The owner, Charlie was a wealth of knowledge. Will go again. And would recommend it to anyone with an interest in how folks lived. An absolute gem of a place. The admission charge is very reasonable. Loved it.

Brilliant attraction, well worth the visit. Great value for money.
A fantastic collection of old Irish artefacts. A really fascinating little museum. The owner/collator is a lovely man. Very friendly and knowledgeable. It was great to see the museum during the covid crisis.
We visited this little museum because of other TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. There were three generations of us, and we all got something different from it. My teenager was amazed with how different life was in the past, and compared many things she found with modern day equivalents. I found many things familiar from growing up in the 70s and 80s - some things we had and used at home, and others that older relatives had in theirs. For my parent, it was a real trip down memory lane. There was such a large collection of various things, all carefully collected and grouped by Charlie, and his love and pleasure was clear as he added titbits of fascinating information at pertinent moments around the exhibits. We all enjoyed our visit, and talked afterwards about many of the things we had spotted during our visit - including the asthma cigarettes! A wonderful couple of hours, and highly recommended.
What a fantastic place! First time visit to Ireland we found this place almost by accident would certainly go again the proprietor keeps the place immaculate huge collection of memorabilia fantastic!
Amazing place. So much history here. Fabulous location..beautiful views. Host is knowledgeable and so friendly. I really enjoyed having a chat with this gentleman and learning all about his collection. Huge bonus is that they allow dogs in. Definitely a must see in athlone/roscommen!!

Visited the museum on Saturday,Really enjoyed the visit, like a walk down memory lane and the proprietor was vary informative.Would recommend a visit.
A lovely place to visit to wile away an hour with the lovely gentleman who owns and operates the centre himself. A great way of appreciating late nineteenth and early twentieth century country life.
What an amazing experience! Owner Charlie Finneran gave us a private tour and explained many of the exhibits. He had the history on Martin Finneran’s grocery store a few miles away, which was one of our destinations merely because of the name (not sure if we are distant relatives). The farm equipment was lovingly and skillfully restored to like new conditions. And as a treat Charlie played a 78 recording of local tenor on his Victrola! So glad we stopped in!
A step back in time. Fabulous collection of memorabilia in a tranquil spot.
